La industria de la moda se ha transformado a lo largo de los años, vimos pasar modas que eran increíbles y unas no tanto. Estamos de acuerdo que cada persona tiene su estilo de vestir de manera original y personal.

El estilo personal es una mezcla de nuestra propia de personalidad, esencia, gustos, estilo de vida, actividades, e incluso colores que inconscientemente escogemos al momento de hacer compras.

«Si bien es cierto, existen muchísimos estilos entre los que destacan el romántico, casual, formal, artístico, minimalista, sexy & glam entre muchos otros; y debes de saber que tu estilo personal no necesariamente está definido por uno solo, sino que puede ser una mezcla de varios estilos. Agregar diferentes elementos a un estilo que te definan y sobre todo comuniquen quién eres, por ejemplo, tus accesorios diarios, una paleta de color que te guste, una cartera que comunique tu personalidad, o prints con los que te identifiques, es lo que va a definir “tu estilo personal”» (Cárdenas, 2021).

Michael como siempre lo llevó a otro nivel pudiendo usar en el escenario algo causal, decidió junto con la mano de sus diseñadores vestuarios que con tan solo verlos reconocemos a quien le pertenecen.

Como número uno podemos destacar el famoso guante blanco que utilizó en las presentación de Billie Jean (1983) . Confeccionado por Bill Whitten con 1200 cristales Swarovski, cosidas a mano.

Los sombreros que usaba Michael eran de Fedora, sombrero de fieltro suave con una copa de alrededor de 11 cm de alto y un ala suave de 6,4 cm de anchura. Uno de ellos se subastará el 26 de Septiembre de 2023 en París, Francia. Con un valor según Parisina Drout de 66 mil dólares hasta 110 mil dólares.

Es necesario conocer quien estaba detrás de todas las hermosas prendas que portaba el artista. Es demasiado irreal que alguien tuviera un gran estilo como Jackson. Michael Bush diseñador del cantante decía que prenda que el vestía debía cumplir con estos cuatro elementos: las cuatro efes para vestir a Michael Jackson: Fit [ajustado], Function [funcional], Fun [divertido] y First [lo primero en su especie].

“No exigía nada de los demás que no se exigiera él a sí mismo –concede Bush–, y Dennis y yo asumíamos el reto y poníamos todo nuestro esfuerzo en presentarle diseños que al actuar le permitieran el máximo movimiento”. “Michael Jackson no seguía la moda. La moda le seguía a él”.

Michael Bush colaboró con Jackson 25 años desde 1986 por la película Capitán CEO y vaya que fue leal porque lo vistió hasta su ultimo momento en cámaras. No lo lograría sin su compañero Dennis Tompkins. Y es que este dueto logro cosas demasiado increíbles para el artista, «como la chaqueta de “Thriller” que llevó en la gira Bad de 1987-89 (compuesta de 11.000 bombillas que parpadeaban al ritmo de las canciones) hasta los patentados “zapatos de inclinación” que permitían a Jackson inclinarse hacia delante hasta 45 grados» (Kin Woo, 2018).

Bush a lado de sus creación y del Rey de el pop.

“Cuando vi a Michael por primera vez, me puse muy nerviosa, pero él era muy amable, muy tímido y especial”, cuenta Bergman. “Mi recuerdo más querido es cuando le vi bailar su moonwalk y el robot walk durante la sesión, frente a la cámara de Bruce Weber. Todo el equipo nos pusimos a bailar, a cantar y a llorar. Fue mágico”- Rushka Bergman.

El cantante es una gran inspiración no solo para la música, también para la industria de la moda.

«El reciente desfile de primera/verano 2019 de Olivier Rousteing rendía homenaje directo a Jackson, pero la relación de Balmain con el cantante comenzaba hace diez años cuando su anterior director creativo, Christophe Decarnin, recibió de Bergman el encargo de crear algunos trajes para la gira This is It!.» (Kin Woo, 2018).

¿Lo Sabias?

Michael Jackson tiene una canción con la voz mas grave. En repetidas ocasiones no hacia su peculiar voz, en cambio se dejaba llevar.

Michael Jackson, better known as the King Of Pop is considered on of the greatest entertainers in the history of music, and although the last few years of his life were embroiled in controversy, the singer-songwriter still holds a place in the hearts of many, even 11 years after his death, on 25 June, 2009. Michael was an innovator in every sense of the word, from his music, lyrics, dance moves to his fashion sense. His androgynous style, iconic dance moves (he is the creator of the legendary Moon Walk), the classic fedora, his use of military jackets, his iconic sparkly gloves and multi-cultural looks not only make him relevant till date, but have influenced some of the greatest musicians of our times, be it Madonna, David Bowie, Beyonce, Rihanna, Lady Gaga or Janelle Monae. What most celebrities strive for by hiring stylists and collaborating with brands, Michael did without. For most of his career, Michael did not hire a stylist or turn to runway fashion for his onstage (or off) wardrobe, instead most of the pieces he wore were commissioned to private dressmakers and the designs were highly inspired by history and art. It was in 2007, when Michael met Rushka Bergman, a fine art scholar turned creative director, who styled Michale for L’Uomo Vogue. The duo ended up working together, Rushka being the only stylist to ever work with the pop icon, till Michael’s last days. In conversation with Vogue, Rushka spoke about working with Michael. She recalled how he was an innovator who always wanted something new, and he challenged her to always bring something that nobody had ever done before. Speaking of his trademark 1980’s style, she said, “My goal was to bring back his status as a fashion icon.The beautiful sequined glove, white socks, the military jackets, the red “Thriller” leather jacket, sequined tuxedo pants, the penny loafers. His style was so remarkable through his choices on stage.”

The Thriller singer had once famously said, “My attitude is if fashion says it’s forbidden, I’m going to do it.”
