He really doesn't need the distraction. Unfortunately, the more he gets to know Patrick, the harder it is to ignore his growing attraction.

“Are you sure about this, honey? It is okay for one person not to like you.” David rubs his hands across Patrick’s shoulders, aggressively reassuring.

“It’s going to be fine, David,” Patrick tells him as they approach the dunk tanks, “and it’s for a great cause.”

“Brewer. Thanks for volunteering to do this.” Ronnie points to the tank not occupied by Roland.

“See, David. I knew she’d come around,” Patrick calls to him as he climbs up to the platform.

David cringes as Ronnie passes a child three extra balls.

“Just aim for the one that looks like a thumb.”

The florist barely looks up from her arrangement. "Don't do me like that…." Ronnie pouts, knowing full well it's worked in the past. "I need flowers for a birthday for Moira Rose. Think you can help?" "Vivian Blake - Moira Rose?" "Yep." "When's the party?" "Friday night." "This Friday?! Ronnie!" "I know, I know. I'll take whatever you can scrape up. I'll pay for the rush and everything." "You owe me." "Dinner, then?"

WIP Wednesday

Thank you @jesuisici33 and @mildly-hebraic-looking-elf for the tag!!

Due to some player shuffling, Patrick found himself on the same team as Stevie and Ronnie this year. As soon as they entered the Pub, they saw (or more likely heard) the obnoxiously loud guy sitting at the end of the bar. They recognized the man from the game. He was rooting for the other team and had some choice words for Ronnie and Stevie. Apparently, he did not get the memo that girls can play baseball, too.

"Oh, brother," Stevie muttered to Patrick and Ronnie.

"Do you guys want to leave?" Patrick asked, looking at Ronnie.

"Oh, hell no! We won fair and square and, I personally, want a drink to celebrate that! Even if that drink is with you, Brewer!"

"Absolutely not! He's just pissed I pitched a one-hitter. And, I'm with Ronnie- I want a celebratory drink, too! And I’m not gonna let that brute scare me away!”

"Okay- I'll meet ya at the bar." Patrick walked towards the restroom, texting as he walked away. David could not make it to the game, but he wanted Patrick to text him when they were done.

Ronnie and Stevie sat down at the bar and had just ordered three beers when the man sighed loudly and rolled his eyes at them. Ronnie motioned for Stevie to bend her head down.

“I’ve got an idea,” she whispered. “Follow my lead.”

“You are wrong, Stevie! There is no way in hell Brewer is gay. Look at him! He’s filthy and he had us order him a beer!”

“That means absolutely nothing, and you know that! You don’t even know anything about him!.”

“You’re right. And I don’t want to. If it wasn’t for Gwen running off, he wouldn’t even be on our team this year. He always has that judgy, straight boy look on his face. Like him!” Ronnie said, pointing to the guy at the end of the bar.

“You wanna say that to my face?” the man piped up. Ronnie stood up and moved closer to the man.

“Hey- no offense. Unless, oh my God- are you gay?”
