if i had a nickel for every time one of my partners asked if we could move to discord because it would make it 'easier', they create a whole server with like 20+ channels but we only ever use 1, and they disappear after like 3 more responses i would have 2 nickels.

which isn't a lot, but it's weird (and frustrating) that it's happened twice.

cherp is defo far from a popular site but anyone who thinks that it only has like 50 active users must have a lot of tags blacklisted and not engage in too many fandoms. i don’t think 1/5 of the site replies to most of my starters, and i really don’t think it’s the same 10ish people who are doing so

we used to be able to make our own tags for our rps on cherubplay actually. i had my chats sorted by fandom, which character i played, ship (if it was relevant), and whether it was my turn to respond. i miss it every day :(

I find it unbelievably funny when people's opening line is "Are you still taking partners?" because they just stick with it no matter the circumstances. This person connected to my prompt 5 minutes after I posted it and asked if I was still taking connects. Nah, sorry, too slow, scalpers cleaned me out, try a bot next time.

We can’t even go a day anymore without people saying that the directory feels dead or that their prompts are no longer getting hits. Honestly, I feel like the staff has done everything they could to kneecap the community at every possibility and now we’re seeing a decline. Strict rules about prompt quality, no off site movement without id verification, not to mention the rule that you can’t share personal details about your life ooc (rule 9). Hell, they even neutered the cherp discord which used to be bursting with activity by removing all the channels. I also think it’s very telling that the tag which used to have many regulars that posted regularly is now essentially barren save for a few specific users who only post occasionally. Funding also looks like it’s gone down if you check the donation page.

RPing has always been a very social activity and seeing the attempt to take the social aspect out of it really kills the vibe. You can’t make friends on the site anymore and no one really wants to talk about the site outside of it. There’s no enthusiasm. I give the site less than two years before it dies if things keep going the way they are.

Other anon, I think we got the same experience. I had someone connect to my slice of life romance prompt and ask if I'd be alright including bugs. I'm glad they asked rather than just assuming, but I feel like there are some kinks that you should just not bring up unless you're making a prompt or the other person brings it up first. I couldn't continue, even after they politely accepted my no. And now bugs are on my no's list. How many victims are out there?
