The song was written by Kylie, Richard Stannard, Julian Gallagher, and John Themis and was produced by Stannard and Gallagher. Festival Mushroom Records and Parlophone released the song as the fourth single from "Light Years" on 11 December 2000. "Please Stay" is a Disco song with a strong Latin pop influence. The song received generally positive reviews from music critics.

Plus, many of the pioneers of quantum physics: Werner Heisenberg, Max Plank, Erwin Schrödinger, James Jeans, Louis de Broglie, Wolfgang Pauli and Arthur Eddington. And today's scientists – the astrophysicist Paul Davies, Simon Conway Morris (Professor of Evolutionary Paleobiology at Cambridge), Alasdair Coles (Professor of Neuro-immunology at Cambridge), John Polkinghorne (who was Professor of Mathematical Physics at Cambridge), Russell Stannard, Freeman Dyson ... and Francis Collins, who led the team of 2,400 international scientists on the Human Genome Project and was an atheist until the age of 27, when he became a Christian.

While one could claim I'm basically exaggerating the supposed eclecticism of the 90's charts in here, we must be honest that the things weren't that great. True, using Spice Girls as an example of this reeks of the authenticity conundrum, since they had a personality in comparison to many later similarly manufactured groups. Mind you, I do get why some had problems with them, yet their tunes did weave themselves in the tapestry of the 90's, because they had the same principles as their peers at Britpop, i.e. they took the models of the past and they put them into the present with the modern tools. I'm not shocked they were mentioned in the same breath as Oasis and Blur, they all captured the zeitgeist of the 90's, they merely had more fun doing this.
