I fixate on one-liners too much, but can you really blame me when they hit like this?

The feelings that run through me whenever even the slightest pinch of a character’s canonical appearance is mentioned—

If y’all notice that bit of iridescence in his eyes, that’s color(s) associated with Freelancers in my canon ✨

Then I had a thought that since his eyes were brown, a natural hue, and my version on empowereds eye colors depend on their abilities unless you’re humanborn in which you have a bit of both (almost like heterochromia) 👀

Ergo making my version of Sam a humanborn Freelancer which I think really adds more to the struggles he’s been through and, if I really wanna get deep with it, even relating to Lovely in a way which would make having his hand in helping with the process of their turning a lot more meaningful because he can relate to the loss of an incredible ability you 1. didn’t know you had and 2. spent so long trying to manage it only to have it taken from you just like that. He sees a little of himself in them—and y’know Sam Collins is the kind of man that wants to give others the chance to have what he couldn’t.

Some of them changed, some are still the same, but just updated and more distinct I think. I seriously doubt this will get as popular as the other post, but who knows.

Some more thoughts on Darlin’s love languages and Sam’s HBS. Part 1 observations.

Disclaimer: I wrote this last summer so if all of this seems really obvious now that’s why but I’m just posting my drafts and I still like it 😌

(Also thank you to @darlin-collins for reminding me I wanted to write this when you reblogged that old Darlin love languages post of mine! I remember you said that you wouldn’t mind if I talked about it for hours and so I hope this and the next post serve you well <3 )

To me it is clear that touch is one of Darlin’s main love languages . In their relationship, Darlin’ initiated the first touch (besides healing) when asking to hug Sam. The first video with the pair in a non-platonic relationship, Darlin strokes their fingers across Sam’s chest and initiates their first kiss, whereas Sam clarify’s his feelings with words.

Darlin’ also does not hesitate in hugging Asher nor David when the contact is offered, instead eagerly using it as a way to receive/give comfort.

Which makes it all the more devastating when you remember how long they went without it/ how they used physical touch to harm themselves. The way that as soon as Sam asked if there was anything he could do for them in the video after the David debacle Darlin straight away asks if he could give them a hug?!?! 😫😫

Whenever Sam compliments Darlin’ there is very rarely a gap where they’d reply but there is commonly a kiss straight after. Which shows that they use physical touch to display emotion and communicate as well.

For example; Straight after Sam’s famous ‘you just feel so right, like I didn’t know it could’ and ‘a lot of things come easy with you’ lines.

When Sam assures them that it’s okay to rest and relax when they moved in with him, Darlin’ once again kisses him straight after and then proceeds to move onto his lap.

In Sam’s HBS 22 they kiss Sam (to comfort him) straight after he confides in not wanting to burden them with the fact he can’t go out in the sunlight (at 12:47) and straight after he compliments how they look (at 16:40, as a thank you).

So when Darlin’ kissed Sam at the nightclub to stop him from overthinking and he responded with ‘what was that for?’ It was a genuine question. He knows they use physical touch to communicate and he didn’t understand what they meant by it, since to him there was no comfort or thanks necessary.

And I just think that’s cute as shit.

- Had angel fang piercings for a bit in college

- Cannot pick a favorite color, it changes every single day

- Spotify is their best friend; they have the most specific and niche playlists ever

- Professional photographer!! So skilled!! Fuck canon interpretation why does everyone have an office job!!

- Gets super anxious when David works later than planned bc of Inversion trauma :D

- Once the clock hits the time his shift/event was supposed to end, they’re texting him every 30 minutes to check in. David understands and is eager to respond the moment he’s able to

- Changes wardrobe styles at the drop of a hat

- Blasts music through their headphones and dances a whole ass routine while cleaning the house

- David fears for their hearing, always shouting “I SHOULDN’T BE ABLE TO HEAR DOJA CAT FROM THE ACROSS THE HOUSE, ANGEL.” But the dancing is honestly impressive so he lets it slide

- “What if I dyed my hair blue?” “Do you think I’d look cool with pink hair?” “Should I dye my hair purple one day?” “How about like a really dark kind of burgundy?” proceeds to never dye it

- 186424742 Minecraft worlds, they’re a skilled builder and sucks ass at PVP

- Scarily good at mental math, like, they can be like a walking calculator it’s so odd. Helpful for helping Davey with calculating pack expenses though! Too bad they can’t spell for SHIT

- Had a gymnastics phase that lasted forever until they fell in love with photography

- Can (and will) give Davey one hell of a chair dance 😳

- They’re very crafty! Lots of their house decor is DIY but looks store-bought

- David knows no peace when it’s time for bed bc Angel is practically moshing in their sleep. If he doesn’t act as their weighted blanket and smoosh them into his chest so they lay still, they’d probably wake up half way across the house

- Their laughter so contagious it can cure every ailment within a 20 mile radius, especially when they accidentally snort
