Ive seen it multiple times now that people say Darcy just ran away in a tantrum and missed that her mother told her to leave the house.
I know its hard to hear with the music and there no subtitles in this moment
Tumblr media
But shes screaming at Darcy "Get out of this house now"
And that makes the whole scene much worse imo.
And that asshole mother telling Tara that 'Darcy just had one of her tantrums and left"
I fucking hate her.

If anybody wanted to write a crossover between L.M. Montgomery's books, here is a little help with the ages of the characters (@no-where-near-hero maybe it will be a tiny help for your fanfic):
Anne Shirley - born on 5th of March 1865
Gilbert Blythe - born in 1862 or 1863
James Matthew "Jem" Blythe - born in July 1893
Walter Cuthbert Blythe - born in 1894
Anne "Nan" and Diana "Di" Blythe - born in 1896
Shirley Blythe - born in 1888*
Bertha Marilla "Rilla" Blythe - born in 1900*
Gerald "Jerry" Meredith - born 1894
Faith Meredith - born 1895
Una Meredith - born 1896
Thomas Carlyle "Carl" Meredith - born 1897
Jims Anderson - born in August of 1914
Emily Byrd Starr - born on 19th of May 1888
Ilse Burnley - born in 1888 (probably)
Perry Miller - born in 1887
Frederick "Teddy" Kent - 1887 or 1888
Dean Priest - born in 1865
Patricia "Pat" Gardiner - born in 1913
Rachel "Rue" Gardiner - born in 1919

Sidney "Sid" Gardiner - born in 1912
Joseph"Joe" Gardiner - born in 1908
Hilary Gordon - born in 1911

Jane Stuart - born in May 1918 or 1919
Valancy Stirling* - born 1883**
Barney Snaith - born 1877**
Cecilia "Cissy" - born 1886**
Olive Stirling - born 1884**
Gay Penhallow - born in 1904***
Nan Penhallow - born in 1904***
Roger Dark - born in 1890***
Donna Dark - born between 1894 and 1896***
Virginia Powell - born between 1894 and 1896***
Peter Penhallow - born between 1888 and 1890***
Margaret Penhallow - born 1872***
Brian Dark - born 1916***
Hugh Dark - born in 1887***
Joscelyn Penhallow: born between 1889-1892***
*In both Anne of Ingleside and Rainbow Valley Shirley is two years older than Rilla. But in Rilla of Ingleside, he turns eighteen few months before Rilla... it is pure chaos. Rilla was supposed to be nearly fourteen, according to the RV, in 1914, but she is nearly fifteen in RoI. So I apologize, but I had a lot of trouble here...
**The Blue Castle is the most difficult to place in time. It is set several years before it was published, and in my own opinion: before Tangled Web and Pat of Silver Bush. Why? Because of this reference: "This was before the day of bobs and was regarded as a wild, unheard-of proceeding—unless you had typhoid." (The Blue Castle). Bobs were already "in fashion" at the beginning of Pat of Silver Bush (so, in 1919, when Pat was six years old: it was said that Winnie wanted to have her hair bobbed) and in Tangled Web (which is set in 1922). Yet, the cars, motorboats and movie theaters were a rather common occurence in The Blue Castle's times. But... there might be an explanation. Valancy doesn't live on PEI, which might have been a little "behind" the rest of Canada, as far as modern technology went. It is my own personal opinion, but I think that it might be set just before the war, at the same time as the end Emily's Quest. I know that the clothes seem more "modern" in TBC, but Emily wore "a little sport suit" and dress that was described as followed "there was so little of it". Teddy and Perry both had cars, as sone of Ilse's cousins. I would say that the Blue Castle book might be set around 1912-1913. Still, the timeline is extremely elusive. Please, let me know, dear Blue Castle Book Club's members, what is your opinion? I think I have read some amazing discussion about TBC's timeline a long time ago, but if I remember correctly, everyone was certain that this novel was set post WWI (me included, until this very moment when I tried to place Pat and Tangled Web and remembered the "bob" quote). So I choose 1912 as the beginning of TBC, when Valancy was twenty-nine.
*** the ages of characters in Tangled Web:
"They were first cousins, who were born the same day and married the same day,--Donna to her own second cousin, Barry Dark, and Virginia to Edmond Powell--two weeks before they had left for Valcartier. Edmond Powell had died of pneumonia in the training camp, but Barry Dark had his crowded hour of glorious life somewhere in France." (Tangled Web).
"Virginia Powell, whose husband had been dead eight years and who was young and tolerably beautiful" (Tangled Web).
"Valcartier, Quebec was the primary training base for the First Canadian Contingent in 1914."
- from: https://www.warmuseum.ca/firstworldwar/history/going-to-war/canada-enters-the-war/training-at-valcartier/
So, from this I assumed that Virginia's husband died in 1914 (so Tangled Web is set in 1922-23). Gay is 18 at the beginning, so she would be born in 1904. If Donna and Virginia were 18-20 when they got married, they would be 26-28 (so still "young"). at the beginning. Peter was 14 when Donna was 8, so he'd be 32-34 at the beginning of the book (same age or a bit older than Roger). Hugh was 35 at the beginning. I guess Joscelyn was a bit younger- most of LMM's heroines are at least two years younger than their love interest. I'd say she might have been 20-23 when she got married, so she'd be around 30-33 at the beginning of the book. I would say Brian is about six years old - he doesn't seem to attend school yet, but is big enough to be sent to the harbour. Margaret Penhallow was about fifty at the beginning of the book.
So sorry that this post was rather long, but it was a great fun to write (even if it took me A LOT of time). Thank you for reading. Please, let me know if you agree. Any feedback will be very welcome!

oc questions tag.
tagged by @coffeeandcalligraphy ! thank you, rachel <3 i decided to do this one about piedad narváez from keeps staring and i'll never fall asleep.
5 words to physically describe your oc (do you have a drawing? even better!)
freckles, scars, fair, sharp, light-eyed (we're counting it as one)
i don't have drawings of piedad (unless you count this one my sister did). but i do have a fc for them! lydia graham. and here are some other photos that have their vibe
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
who inspired your oc?
piedad started as a percy jackson oc so first step was picking a godly parent for her. from the start i wanted it to be a muse because i knew i could give her some orpheus-like powers. i ended up going with urania because ✨stars✨. then because of the nature of my rps with @lethed-of-all i had to find a fc and just... randomly decided it would be lydia graham? then i gave her a violin because as a child of a muse she would need an instrument and i was listening to lindsey stirling at the time so naturally ballet summed to her aesthetic. things slowly developed naturally from there. i did more research on urania for piedad's powers and found out premonition was plausible. and long story short now she's the physical manifestation of fate in i'll never fall asleep <3 i'm not sure where the knives came from, though. i think it might have just been a vibe check that went well with her slowly establishing aesthetic. probably a result of me deciding the bow of her violin could turn into a stiletto knife.
give me a song to define your oc
oh man i can give you a couple of songs. recently i realised most of piedad-core songs are some form of "will someone please make me feel something" while adam songs are more "will someone please pay attention to me". so do with that what you will
shatter me by lindsey stirling (started it all. somebody make me feel alive then shatter me)
gasoline by halsey (quintessential in i'll never fall asleep. and all the people say: you can't wake up, this is not a dream. you're part of a machine, you are not a human being)
kairos by eden (the things only i know... i just keep waiting for kairos. fun fact! kairos is a greek word that means something approximately to "perfect time to do something")
love is a... by pvris (just put your hands around my throat, ain't been to heaven but i'm close)
circles by eden (this is my life i will not run in circles, ending where i start. so hold onto to me we'll burn down slowly)
if i met your oc on the street how would they greet me?
with strangers, piedad keeps her distance. would not initiate the interaction but would give a polite smile and greeting. with people she knows it's a bit of a range but usually she goes for a hug with her friends.
can your oc be your best friend? why?
i don't know lmao. i don't think so. no reason other than vibes i don't think we would connect enough to become best friends. maybe something like... coworkers or classmates that get along.
1 adjective and 1 noun to describe your oc
starry & blue. i dunno, piedad is just very silver and blue in my mind. with some green from her eyes.
and i'm tagging @onomatopiya @saltwaterbells @teddywriting @cannivalisms @moonssugar @cream-and-tea and anyone else who might want to do this!

I have never loved a fictional family more than I love them 💜💙🖤💚 and trying to express just how much I love them, my mind comes out blank. Because there's not enough words in any language to explain how important these characters had become to me in the past 4 years. But more about that tomorrow.
This is the first time in my life as a fangirl that I have been this involved and invested in a fandom. First time I've made such wonderful friends in the online space, first time I've felt like I've finally belonged somewhere. So, with less than a day until the end of this beautiful journey, I just want to say, thank you.
For the laughs. The inside jokes. The screaming and plotting and crying. For the art, the gifs, the fics, every bit of creative genius this show had pulled from us. For the late hours I've spent laughing at my phone so hard my cheeks hurt and for the days a paragraph in a fic made me scream into my pillow. For taking the time reading what I've written and all the biggest and the smallest reviews left under it. For the cheers and pettiness and genius minds thinking alike. For the good days and the bad days. For everything and more.
You've made my time in this fandom so special. I wouldn't trade it for anything else. Just like our beloved family, we found each other and created something incredible. Our own little family. We stayed strong through thick and thin. And I'm sobbing as I'm writing this but I feel so so so grateful. I wish I could gather you all in one room and hug you all.
@wonderbatwayne @ambeauty @escapism-through-imagination @meetmeunderthestarrynight - my Queens. My TBS. I don't have words to fully express what your friendship means to me. I haven't met such wonderful, incredible, amazing, beautiful ladies yet irl and unless we ever by some miracle see each other face to face, I don't think I ever will. Your passion for the things you love, your dedication and hearts so full of love and fire and genius are hard to come by. I've learned so much from each one of you. Thank you for your openness, your honesty, your compassion, everything. Let's celebrate this end of an era the way only we can do 🥂
@legendsofentity thank you for sharing your love for Dick&Rach with me, for making me smile with your cute headcanons and being excited with me over the littlest things. It might seem like nothing but it means absolutely everything to me.
@undertheknightwing my writing twin 😂 the Gar to my Rachel. We've always supported each other, sometimes up close, sometimes from afar. Thank you for being one of those who let me lean on you when things got tough. I got your back and you got mine.
And a few others absolutely worth mentioning. Maybe we haven't talked that much but you've supported me and seeing you pop up in my notifications always made me smile and I cherish every single interaction. @lady-stirling @kirjavasblade @graysonfamfan2021 @koryvndr @mejacinta you guys are the best!
If I forgot someone, know that you are in my heart forever, I'm just too much of an emotional wreck right now (seriously, not a pretty view) to get it out of the depths of my mind.
Titans forever. Let's do this one last time.

Sam Claflin + well developed female characters
I once posted a list of Sam's female-directed films [x], but as @jesstasticvoyage points out, it's also true that a lot of stuff he stars in features well developed female characters (I'm kinda tired of the "strong female character" phrase, so using this one instead). So, let's have a look at them.
The Hunger Games series (dir Francis Lawrence) - still the most obvious example for Sam as a role he's known for, and the purpose of this post. It's safe to say most people know Katniss Everdeen.
Their Finest (dir Lone Scherfig) - Gemma Arterton's character, Catrin, is an aspiring screenwriter hired to work on a script for a film about Dunkirk evacuation--this is a movie about a movie set during WW2. Sam is a fellow writer, in fact he is the one who discovered her. It's funny bc this takes place in 1940s and she gets the job of writing female characters, when even in our times we don't always have that. Worth noting is also Rachael Stirling's Phyl, a minor character but memorable and a lesbian--who doesn't die at the end. It's the straight relationship that gets treated like bury your gays trope this time!
The Nightingale (dir Jennifer Kent) - also known as the film in which Sam plays an absolute monster (you think Billy Dunne is bad, lol). The film centres on young convict Claire (Aisling Franciosi) seeking revenge for the indescribable harm done to her family. Basically, trigger warning for everything.
My Cousin Rachel (dir Roger Michell) - adaptation of Daphne du Maurier's novel. Sam plays Philip, the narrator, but Rachel is so intriguing, the whole story is named for her. She's played by her namesake, Rachel Weisz. There's also Louise (Holliday Granger), Philip's childhood friend. She's the relatable, girl next door type, but she is smart, in fact I think she is the one with the most braincells. (Also I have a theory about her, I think this version of Louise has a darker side!)
Enola Holmes (dir Harry Bradbeer) - title speaks for itself. Enola's mother is missing and the teenage heroine goes on a quest to find her and thus becomes a detective herself. Sam plays Mycroft, the eldest Holmes sibling, though he's far removed from the original Mycroft Holmes of Arthur Conan Doyle's books. Edith, who runs a teashop, is another notable female character.
Adrift (dir Baltasar Kormakur) - based on a true story of Tami Oldham, an amateur sailor, surviving 41 days adrift on the Pacific Ocean after a hurricane. Sam plays her bf Richard. Shailene Woodley has the role of Tami and is also the film's producer.
Riot Club (dir Lone Scherfig) - okay so what's this doing here, you ask, it's a film about an all-male elite club at Oxford. Yes but that's exactly the point, bc even though it is about an all male club, the female characters are surprisingly well developed. The play this is adapted from, Posh, was written by Laura Wade and the director is also a woman, so maybe it's not so surprising. We have Holliday Granger who plays the gf of one of the boys and Jessica Brown Findlay in the role of the pub landlord's daughter. Holliday's character certainly doesn't take any shit from the posh boys. Even Natalie Dormer in the role of a sex worker has enough self-respect to refuse their deranged requests, despite the amount of money it would earn her. Hence I include it on the list.
Charlie's Angels (dir Elizabeth Banks) - title speaking for itself, yet again. Sam's role is relatively minor.
Book of Love (dir Analeine Cal y Mayor) - a romcom. When Maria, played by Veronica Echegui, translates Henry's (Sam) unsuccessful book from English to Spanish, the book becomes a huge hit in Mexico. Turns out that while translating, she inserted some seriously hot steamy scenes. Sam travels to Mexico for promotion and the two of them now have to work together on the next book. So without Maria, the story would not exist and also, once Henry accepts the situation, he is happy to collaborate with her--and at the end, supports her in her own writing efforts. (If you can get round the premise, it is an enjoyable film.)
Daisy Jones and the Six - mini series based on a book of the same name. We have not one, not two, not three, but four amazing ladies to root for: Daisy, Camila, Karen and Simone. While Sam gives performance of a lifetime as the band's frontman Billy Dunne.
Other Notes:
Honourable mentions are Snow White (Kristen Stewart) in Snow White and the Huntsman, a film I have a definite soft spot for though there's many ways it could have been better. In The Corrupted Sam plays a convict who just got out of prison and reunites with his gf and son. The gf is played by Naomi Ackie. She's wary at first but does allow him back into her life and they get back together and raise their son. Unsure if another one of my faves, Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides apply. Sam's romance with the mermaid Syrena is my absolute favourite of his. She might seem helpless for majority of her screentime, bc she gets captured, turns human on dry land and is unable to walk as she's not used to having legs, Philip (Sam's character) has to carry her. But she was the one who saved him first. And POTC overall is not without good female characters.

for the dickkory valentines day prompts - love confession
Dick doesn’t expect it to happen here.
He’s always thought for a love this strong — a love this true — there needed to be a moment. Something big and grand and seared into their memory forever. If anything, he thought it’d be in the midst of a battle. They’ve had so many near death experiences it’s become a little hard to parse them out. So many times they’ve held each other, bleeding out and fighting to stay alive, but the closest Dick has ever come to confessing something is; I need you to hang on. Which, he knows is not the same, but feels so much easier to say.
If not when the end is near, then maybe right before they step around the corner, right into danger. Just a quick quip of the words, a reminder that there’s always something worth coming home to. That they can play the hero, but not the martyr. It would be said with a small quirk of a smile, crinkled eyes and a raised eyebrow that promises something more after the fight’s been won. But he doesn’t say it there either. Kory, be careful, which is nearly there, but not quite.
They’ve had date nights and they press each other into the sheets of their bed, but still, nothing has ever felt right. Dick keeps the words tucked right behind his teeth and dipped below his tongue. He’s tried to corral those eight letters, mold them into three words, and breathe them into existence, but for all his bravado they stay right where they are.
They’re in the kitchen, the warm beams of sunrise pouring through the wide windows. Dick is the last one awake, which is normally not like him, but they had an exhausting night and he’s already contemplating crawling back into bed.
Kory and Gar are in the kitchen making breakfast while Tim, Connor, and Rachel chatter away in between stolen bites of bacon. Rachel demands Gar add more chocolate chips to the waffles and Tim tries to convince Kory that avocado toast counts as breakfast food. Dick stops for a moment, takes in the sight of his team — his family — happy and here and alive. His quiet moment of observation lasts a few seconds at best before his name is called out by three different people and he’s soon bombarded with questions about what their schedule looks like for today and whether they can go out after training.
“Go set the table,” Kory laughs as she shoos all of them from the island, save for Gar as he finishes off the last of the waffles.
“Morning Dick,” Gar says with a smile patting him on the shoulder as he passes by with the perilously stacked set of waffles on an almost too small plate.
The rest of them groan like teenagers as they file out into the dinning room, muttering something about adults only and they better not be kissing over our food. Dick ignores the faint flush on his cheeks as he shuffles into the kitchen. Kory hands him a fresh, steaming mug of coffee just the way he likes it.
It warms his fingers and the faint hint of hazelnut from the creamer he swears up and down he doesn’t like (Bruce taught me to drink it black. Well, Bruce doesn’t know the meaning of fun) but sneaks into his cup when no one is looking.
Thank you is what he means to say, but instead he blurts out, “I love you.”
Kory just smiles, warm and bright like the morning sun. “You saying that to me or the coffee?” She asks in a teasing voice as she steps between his legs, wrapping her arms around his waist.
“You,” he grins, “definitely you.”
“Love you too,” she hums before she leans forward and kisses him.
She tastes like chocolate and hazelnut and like the rest of Dick’s life. And what else can he do besides tell her that he loves over and over again.

The Blue Castle, Chapter 14
"Roaring" Abel Gay has reentered the narrative, because we deserve a treat.
"Valancy only smiled mockingly at them when they called her in, and did not go. It was so easy to defy once you got started." Yes, more of this. I love how the Stirling's obsession with appearances is now working in Valancy's favor rather than against her.
Fresh air, take a drink!
And now we get Cissy's backstory. For all that the last four years sucked, and she apparently grew up mostly outside Deerwood society, she seems to have at least had a loving father and happy homelife. I hope? Still, it must have been hard on her being so isolated. Poor kid.
Rachel Edwards is the reason we have food handling certifications. I always wondered how anyone could fail such basic questions, but I understand now.
And now we learn that Barney doesn't just hang out with the other outcasts from Deerwood society, but is also kindly solicitous of a poor, sick, lonely girl who needs the support.
Not sure if I'm missing some contexts, but it seems that Valancy and Abel are somewhat taking past eachother: I took Valancy's 'behave yourself' as less public drinking and swearing would make people less afraid of Abel, but he's treating it like 'respectable = attends church' and thus is a theology problem. I wonder if LMM meant this to show different thought processes and social expectations for the characters, or if we're supposed to notice that they're on different pages, or if I'm missing something.
Excellent plan, Valancy. I'm sure your family will love it!
No changes to the scoreboard, but I've included it below:
Mrs. Stirling: -39
Cousin Stickles: -13
Uncle Benjamin: -9
Aunt Wellington: -9
Olive: -5
Uncle James: -5
Uncle Wellington: -4

Hey Guys! In celebration of Valentine's Day I want to challenge you all to share why you ship DickKory. Would be a fun way to flood the tag if you arent busy doing the fic challenge. What do you like about the characters as individuals and why you think they are better ~together~ ?
I'll start
I started shipping DickKory when I read some of the New Teen Titans run. But it's the TV version that really made me fall in love with them.
Dick comes across as mean and standoffish when we meet him. In reality, he was just sad. He thought he was a screw-up who deserved to be alone and his "friends" agreed. Every time they saw him they reminded him that he wasn't good enough and that he was a danger to others. But Kory told him sure you have issues but so does everyone else. We can figure it out together. She brought him out of his shell and he's always able to smile when she's around. Even during his lowest moments being near her makes him happier.
Tumblr media
Kory on the other hand was completely lost when we met her. But even with amnesia, her first instinct was to protect Rachel and later Gar. When she got her memories back she tapped into an almost robotic state which we find out later is a result of her being trained to operate without emotions. But that's not Kory. As Zadira explains she's always rebelled and has always been emotional, kind, and empathetic. It makes her a terrible assassin and soldier but an incredible friend. Dick could have turned his back on her when she attacked Rachel; instead, he ran after her and defended her. Because he knows Kory. Dick gave Kory the space to be herself and be free. No one else in her life let her do that.

Their similarities are why they clicked so quickly despite being at odds when they met. Kory saw through Dick's tough-guy act and knew he just needed someone who cared to offer him help. Rather than shun him or allow him to push her away, she offered him genuine friendship. With Kory she got the to be herself around him. She got to exist without any rules or expectations. 💙💜

If you're still doing the character ask game, I need to hear Tetsuya, all numbers please 👀🩵
Oh, wow. You most certainly shall have it. (Prepare to be here for a while.)
1. My first impression of them
Probably something like "cool, my favourite colour". I definitely had zero deep thoughts about him (or anyone) in the beginning, since I process feelings pretty slowly.
2. When I think I truly started to like them
Probably towards the end of season 2. (But hey, still on first watch.) Not because there was any particular moment that caused it, must have just had enough processing time around then, and enough information for points of connection.
3. A song that reminds me of them
Ahem. I'll attempt to narrow it down.
You're lucky the post limit is ten.
4. How many people I ship them with
One, really. Just Kagami. But that doesn't mean nothing besides that happens in my fics. Relationships are messy, so it's not like I'm preventing Kuroko from having any attraction towards other people, or anyone else to him.
5. My favourite ship of them
KagaKuro it is. I live for relationships that are based on trust, commitment and insane merging with another in an activity that both love. I don't need ships that feel surprising or outside the box, I need ships that feel real. I also don't need angst and toxicity. Of course there will always be problems in any relationship, but I want the general tone to be that of growth and positivity. A particular aspect that really made me fall in love with their love was the growth from dependent on each other to working on themselves as individuals to be stronger together, which leads to not needing to be together but still deciding to do so because they want to, which is beautiful. That's an aspect I love to explore further in my writing.
6. My least favourite ship of them.
I feel like I've answered this before, but it's Momoi. It literally makes my skin crawl to see stuff about them, (especially stuff that treats them as a natural progression of the story as if that's totally reasonable) and that's a strangely strong reaction from me, but it has to do with how Momoi's "crush" is depicted. I think there's something that really underestimates both characters in it, turning them into a joke that isn't funny at all. It's old news that women violating physical boundaries is seen as harmless and funny or even cute (truly despicable) but it really needs to stop. I also hate that Momoi's feelings are depicted in an incredibly shallow way that dumbs her down. I'm supposed to believe that a character as smart and confident as her will fall head over heels for someone she thought nothing of before, for the first random act of kindness? Yes, there absolutely are people who are so deprived of love and attention that they will do that, and it's not their fault, but I think it's dishonest to depict Momoi as someone who will confuse love and/or attraction with gratitude that hard. Sure, it doesn't take a genius to see that she sometimes feels left out because she's a girl, but that is incongruent as a reason for this too, because she's obviously looking for deeper friendship when she looks at everyone else longingly, so to think that she instantly fell in love as an answer to that doesn't make any sense. The only answer to this behaviour is self-deception, in a complexity that does justice to her character.
This is getting long, and I didn't even touch on Kuroko's side of things but really, you can read all about it in my fic, if you're interested.
7. A quote from them that you remember
I think I've answered this rather seriously before, so let's pick a funnier one. (at least a little.) I don't remember the exact wording, but it's the quote about there always being a slight chance that a meteorite will strike at the last seconds of the game. It's funny to me because I've said literally the same thing prior to seeing KnB, and I think it demonstrates in such a funny way both the strength and weakness of a brain that tends to ignore physical reality in favour of fantasy. The strength is obviously that you can find what you need for your desired outcome in almost anything, you can always imagine a way your fantasy will become reality, and so never lose hope, but the weakness is pretty obviously that not being so grounded in physical reality makes you rather clumsy and inconsistent with concrete physical tasks. Possibly it's not so funny to someone else, but it's funny to me as someone who has always been 1000% willpower, meanwhile struggling to develop physical abilities to even passably match that willpower. BUT when you do get there, magic happens. I would say it's desirable to have your head in the clouds and feet on the ground.
8. Your favourite outfit of them
I do like striped t-shirts.
9. Your least favourite outfit of them
Orange t-shirt. Wtf are you doing Kuroko, you have blue hair! Do you want to look dead?
10. Describe the character in one sentence
An impossibly relatable myriad of contradictions.
11. What's the first thing you think about when thinking about the character
Probably either the fandom here on Tumblr, or my own fics. Because those are the things that are in my daily life.
12. Sexuality hc!
Asexual and gray-romantic. That's how I just always read Kuroko in the anime and manga. I know a lot of people tend to automatically headcanon characters who display no opposite sex attraction as being gay, which is valid, but I am asexual myself so of course I'm more likely to start to wonder if someone is ace when they display neither opposite nor same sex attraction in a way that is clearly sexual. I see no evidence of it in canon, even Kagami seems to have some inclination towards being interested in sexual things compared to Kuroko. So Kuroko might just as well be ace. Which is HILARIOUS because it's called the invisible orientation sometimes. That's why I'll never let go of this headcanon. Literally who would be better asexual representation? Asexuality can even be one factor why Kuroko has so little presence. Apparently, people exchange sexual energy all the time, and if you don't emit, receive or respond to it, people may not even notice you. (It's a hypothesis but based on my experience there might be something to it.) Obviously that would be just one reason in something that is more complex, but that's just what makes it interesting to me, when multiple factors come together. Anyway, I do see latent romantic attraction there, but I don't think it's ever strong enough for Kuroko to act upon until Kagami of course. I don't think he's necessarily even aware of it. I do think that attraction is leaning towards men, though. However, he's very very particular. Only Kagami is able to break the threshold, haha. Also, thinking Kuroko is asexual doesn't necessarily mean I think he's sex-averse (since someone people still don't understand the difference.)
13. Your favourite friendship they have
I just talked about the negative aspects of their relationship, so it might not be obvious, unless you've seen a post where I talk about this, but it's with Momoi, and it's precisely because I think their friendship and actual points of connection were largely ignored in canon. They both feel slightly like outsiders, they both have made observing people in different ways their forte, which I think means they both have a natural interest for it, they are the most naturally socially inclined in their Teiko team (besides Akashi, but he's in a different way from them). They even have this pastel colour coding thing going on. And I think it's super tone-deaf to not have any explicit comparison between Kuroko's and Momoi's experiences of being ignored because she is definitely ignored too, yes in a different way, but the more important difference is that people don't even notice she is, and the fandom does it too. (Newsflash, the reason is misogyny.) There should definitely be similar comparison between Kuroko and Momoi as there is between Kuroko and Takao. As if being a "supporting character" is profound when a guy does it, but when a girl does it, it's just what she was supposed to do all along anyway, so no one even pays attention. Another point I can't help but see is, that if Kuroko was a girl, Momoi would definitely be that extrovert friend who adopts the introvert friend, and they would be besties like none you'd ever seen. Momoi would still bury Kuroko in hugs, but in a way more genuine way in which that over-enthusiasm wouldn't be out of place or shallow. But all of that deep friendship potential is ignored. In short, there is a shit ton to explore in their relationship, and I'm doing just that.
14. Best storyline they had
I don't know if I can answer anything else than the whole thing? I just love the whole premise and how it plays out. I love that the story is committed to the perspective of someone with significant limitations in power: Kuroko doesn't magically "win the lottery" and actually become the most powerful being, like protagonists usually do, in series like Naruto and Boku no Hero Academia. Kuroko's story is a lot like "the heroine's journey" and actually commits to the unattractive parts of it, meanwhile so many other stories just use the sexy parts of the heroine's journey to spice up the hero's journey and create emotion porn. That's why Kuroko is actually relatable to people who know that the ultimate power fantasy is out of their reach: he finds an alternative way to be strong, he actually has to be smart to overcome his limitations in power. I know some people love escaping to power fantasies, but I really appreciate these grounded aspects in this otherwise fantastical story. Even though the way to Seirin's win is paved with unexplained power of friendship moves that make no practical sense, the result doesn't feel like lazy storytelling because of this commitment.
15. Worst storyline they had
Hmm, there's no bad storyline in my opinion, so I'm just going to have to continue with how much more there would still be to get out of the overarching story with some added female perspective. So many of Kuroko's struggles are totally average struggles of women. Having less raw strength than the average person you'll be facing? Being ignored on a daily basis? Going out of your way to be the emotional glue because no one else will do it? Not being taken seriously? Your boundaries being constantly violated? Obviously, I'm not saying this doesn't happen to men. I'm saying this happens particularly to men who are thought of as feminine. So I think it's really sad that stories like this ignore how many struggles people who are perceived to be feminine, share. It's sad that misogyny prevents stories like these from getting out of the male centric narrative and keep isolating the male and female characters from each other even though they share so many experiences. So, the worst storyline is the lack of acknowledgement that it should have also always been a female storyline in addition to everything great it already does.
16. A childhood headcanon
Kuroko loved to pretend play that ghosts and spirits like poltergeist exist, and they are misunderstood and someone just needs to find the right words to talk to them, so he went looking for them in dark and mysterious places like a forest or an attic if he was near one.
17. What do you think their first word was?
"Granny" because she was always home more than Kuroko's parents.
18. How do you think they were as a kid?
I think Kuroko was significantly more shy, quiet and socially awkward, but also more animated and emotive. He had to grow a thicker skin and hide major parts of himself to survive in a harsh social world.
19. The most random ship you've seen people have with them?
Who haven't I seen? Kuroko no harem indeed. Probably like... Imayoshi or Kasamatsu? Which is like... why? Where is the chemistry? The foundation? The thematic significance? At least I understand why some people think it's hot to ship Kuroko with Hanamiya or the Jabberwock, like, I theoretically understand that some people find antagonists who demean someone and beat them up to be smashing boyfriend material, or if not that, at least some basic porn, but I don't think I will ever understand the people who seem like they are looking for ships with pretty much nothing in it. I guess they want to create everything themselves, maybe?
20. A weird headcanon
Kuroko wrote some angsty poetry in middle school and ended up burying it underground because he was embarrassed by it. I have no clue where this came from? I don't know if it's that weird, but it's the most baseless thing I've ever written in my fic. (I make sure my wilder shit is canon based even if it's an unlikely interpretation.)
21. When do you think they were at their happiest?
Besides Seirin's win and reuniting with the GOM, I think in early childhood when it was mostly just Kuroko and Granny who was really loving and showed him the magical world of stories, painting him a picture that he could do anything and be anything he wanted, and he didn't really know the real world wasn't as kind, yet.
22. When do you think they were at their lowest?
Besides end of middle school, at the spring of third year in high school. (Oops, spoilers for TOT!)
23. Future headcanon
Oh dear. Oh dear indeed. Do I have plans. Some that I feel like I'll be hanged for.
Oh well, let's just say that Kuroko and Kagami will definitely get married, since that's both obvious and safe.
24. What do you think is a secret they have that they never told anyone?
Argh, it's so hard for me to answer these because all secrets I think Kuroko has are, again, spoilers for my fic. A lot of them are still secrets to Kuroko as well, for quite some time.
Well, I don't think he told anyone he's asexual, out of self-preservation. (Untill he does.)
25. When do you think they acted the most ooc
Hmm, I don't have anything big, but it always felt a little strange to me that Kuroko decided to comfort Momoi by touching her head, as opposed to a shoulder or something, because Kuroko evidently doesn't like people touching his head. It seemed strange that he wouldn't consider it might be annoying to someone else too. Of course, I can come up with multiple explanations for this. There's no reason why he wouldn't know that it's in fact something that Momoi likes. Or he could have been trying to come up with the most platonic way to comfort someone he could think of, and it turned out strange. I'm sure there could be other explanations, too.
26. When do you think they were being "themselves" the most?
I think increasingly towards the end of the series, because he would gradually open up and relax more around people.
27. If they could meet a character from another show/movie/etc, who would be the most fun for them to meet?
I kind of dislike crossovers like this but... well, if I must choose, I guess it would be quite interesting if Kuroko could meet one of my own characters. Maybe the other protagonist from my debut novel, who is a literally invisible creature who would totally make Kuroko think that he was right in the childhood headcanon mentioned above.
28. The most unnecessary thing they ever did?
Hmm, I think Kuroko went a bit far about teasing Kagami with Nigou sometimes. I know it's hard to get if you don't have an irrational phobia, but it's not really a funny experience. It could be retraumatizing.
29. How do you think they would be as a parent?
The major spoiler questions just keep coming, geez. Obviously Kuroko will be a gentle and loving parent. It's just that I want to blurt all my fic plans out now. But I can't. All I can promise is that it's going to get... interesting. I have a habit of synthesizing canon and fanon in ways that make seemingly contradictory aspects blend together. Let's just say that I'll make liberal use of some loved and hated fan fic traditions in the topic of parenthood. I promise it's going to be a bit out there. Actually about as out there as basketball is in canon. Theoretically real. Which is kind of my point. (Presicely my point.)
30. The funniest scene they had?
Honestly, it's when Kuroko is looking at Kagami, mouth open and seeing him shining literal light, pfft. There's no way to watch that shit with a straight face, and no pun intended.
Thank you for asking me, I hope you had fun reading this, you deserve so much fun after working for entrance exams! I'm so happy about your success. ❤️ If you liked this answer, I'll always be down to do it for another character or just talk about things privately too. ✨
