I am thinking about the original design of Kerrigan, about how it is not effective, so I will present a small redesign of it, freed from uselessness (I do not know what twilight genius came up with the idea to add chitin heels to her) my changes: the absence of heels and human breasts, several eyes like the original Zerg and, in general, more massive armor
While more than a little agreeable, honestly, I feel that the omnipresent protests about Infested Kerrigan's redesign can be a little much.
Like. On a Doylist level, considering what company StarCraft was made by, I absolutely agree. They absolutely sexualized her! And it's gross! (The overlooked, but actually grossest aspect here is that SC2, which decided to "redeem" her, made her face white again...)
But!
On a Watsonian level, it's... fine??? No big deal? In fact, honestly, I'd argue it isn't weird or out of place at all.
Her first infested form retaining a distinctly human face makes sense; the Queen of Blades was originally intentionally designed by the Overmind--who was at least moderately prescient--so it was only natural the dude give her an appearance that could capitalize on her manipulative acumen. And it evidently paid off in the Brood War; Raynor, being Raynor, wouldn't have realistically been willing to believe her at all if she just looked like a regular ol' space bug.
I get why the hair-tentacle "dreadlocks" are a little uncomfortable, but, fellas, how else are you going to make Zerg hair? Never even struck me as dreadlocks, personally.
SC2's redesign, as well, isn't that offensive to me because, by then, it was all her doing. She made herself look like that! And of course she would! One of her defining traits has always been vanity--even when she was human, the girl wore makeup! And had long hair as a soldier! Of course she'd give herself heels and boobs and ass and sick purple lights!
And as for "impracticality," it's really just... not? Kerrigan is the core of a hive mind composed otherwise entirely of purpose-built murder bugs! She doesn't need to optimize her physical form for close combat, she's got zerglings for that! And, besides, her telekentic power level ranges from planet-sized storms to crushing marine power armor like tin cans. Barring her (also in-character) recklessness, she could make herself an ant and still be virtually unstoppable.
She's a dork partaking in self-love... let her be, man. Yes, women in fiction always needing to be sexy isn't a healthy phenomenon, but we all get that. We don't need to harp on them ad infinitum for having the audacity to choose to look good in their own eyes--women get to choose what they do with their own bodies, and if Kerrigan makes herself a pretty monster girl, nice! Valid!
That said, awesome fanart offering different takes on her infested form are also badass! Love it! And we can appreciate both!
They would get along after that war against Amon, but you know. Vorazun would still be super mad at Karrigan and Zeratul for her mother's death, which made Karrigan feel bad sometimes.
