There are a lot of ways to discern a person’s character. One of the best ways is by watching how they treat those who are powerless to repay either kindness or contempt. And people are always powerless when they aren’t even there to defend themselves! In other words, the way he/she talks about other people says more about their character than anyone else. With that in mind, consider the following questions. How do they talk about their ex relationships or ex spouse? His/Her boss? Friends? Family? Is there kindness in their words? Does he/she lean toward forgiveness and grace, even with those who have wronged them? Or is he/she bitter and prone to blame? No one is perfect and there will be points made about the relationship that were negative. So of course their will be some negative responses about the situation and about other people. Of course they didn’t always get along with their ex. But the real question is this. Does he/she stew in negativity about her, even if he’s nice to her face? Or does he make an effort to be forgiving? Now... take this one more step.
