Just a couple of days ago, I was drooling over the pictures in the Pupukea Grindz window as I walked to Rajah Dat to get myself a li hing lemonade---and now this video pops up. It’s always fun when Amanda & Felix come out to my side of the island! (And Felix is right; that snow onion chicken at CM Chicken is awesome!)

These are from 2021 but I still really like them--was trying to imitate the look of woodblock prints digitally and also ended up taking inspiration from Eizin Suzuki :P
These are both real places on O'ahu! First is the bend in Kam Highway underneath the Crouching Lion hike and second is in Pupukea

Lets clear this up.. Joyce was the first to surf Pipeline... It was 8 feet and she was backside! BRONZED JOYCE, FIRST, FIRST, FIRST!
Dana Point in California is a world famous surf location . Recently they honored one of the most famous surfers with a life size bronze statue. The recipient was Joyce Hoffman. Hoffman is the first women to surf Pipeline, just one of her achievements. She rode it on a 9’6” single fin, backside, the typical board of the times with sharp rails, a “knifey “board she said. “Aim and go” she explained. Not her favorite spot. By phone she said she road Pupukea mostly and concentrated on the west side events. That statue is in Watermen’s Plaza in Dana Point. "I can't express in words what this means. It's the most amazing honor." said Hoffman. As far as we know the first one ever of a female surfer! Hoffman has had a great surfing career and as she explained she had a lot of support from the industry and guy surfers. In 1965 she was named the L.A. Times Woman of the Year. It was the year she won the U.S. Championship in Huntington Beach and the World Championship in Peru. She also has west side connections. She won the Makaha International in 1964 and 1966 and the U.S. Championships in 1966 and 1977. It was in 1966 that she was voted the best women surfer in the world by the International Surfing Hall of Fame, she was just 19 at the time. The first ever Surfer Poll awards was a triumph also and the first women lifeguard. She also had the first women surf model named after her, the Hoffman Model. Not only did she surf but she raced motocross and 2-liter Can Am cars. Hoffman still lives and surfs in Dana Point to this day. She is now in her seventy’s and a continual blessing to surfing and to Women surfing Pipeline, respect! (Not my photos)

I saw two epic surf films back in the 80′s, created by Yuri Farrant and I was most impressed by wherever it was that he was shooting his water footage.  The place looked a total dream.     That place has since become a place that I like to create at also.  I called this one Pupukea Glow.   It’s just perfect.   It’s shown here as a 26 x 54 inch print which I printed on Epson’s premium gloss paper.  It;s shown here inside a basic 30 x 60 inch pine frame and looks totally primo anywhere at home or work.  https://seandavey.com/shop-galleries/beaches/pupukea-glow/     #perfectbeach, #shoreline, #coastal, #thephotographicprint, #epsonpremiumgloss, #wallart

The Massillamany Boys loved snorkeling in Sharks Cove! Sharks Cove is a large set of tide pools located at Pupukea Beach Park on the North Shore of O'ahu. Largely protected by a natural breakwater, the pools are vast and calm and great for snorkeling. It has been rated by Scuba Diving Magazine as one of the “Top Twelve Shore Dives in the World”. #hawaii #hawaiilife #oahu #ocean #snorkeling #travel #sharkscove #sunset #wanderlust #honolulu #northshore #paradise #beach #nikonnofilter #travelphotography #explore #dinneratthebeach #loveit #sea #luckywelivehawaii #rock #adventure (at Shark's Cove, North Shore, Oahu) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgmSSXnr8yX/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Tag 7 & 8 (1. + 2.5.22)

Took Jes on her first horseback trail ride this morning… it was beautiful. As a child, my pops used to take me traveling to other states, just to ride horses… was pretty much the raddest way to experience other places. I haven’t been on a horse in a looong time, but I miss it dearly! @jes.ltab rode Little Red Shoes and apparently my horse, Big Kahuna, is the grandson of Secretariat 🤷🏽‍♂️🐎 Mahalo @happytrailshawaii! Our morning was perfect! #hawaii #horsebackriding #pupukea #northshore #happytrailshawaii (at Happy Trails Hawaii) https://www.instagram.com/p/CQCz3a9Li3x/?utm_medium=tumblr
