Fuck it it’s pride month Jane Krakowski character alignment chart
Explanations (top left to bottom right):

Elaine Vassal: Bimbo exhibiting freak behavior, will go out of her way to do smthn weird if it means getting a man
Emma Spevak: Canonical serial killer, I feel like she’s been hiding from the IRS in-between murders
Bobby Flanagan: Judgmental 1960s lawyer, probably has beef with different groups of people for petty reasons
Jenna Maroney: Evil actress, talks about her Sexuality like it’s a finishing move in an anime battle
Veronica Sacks: Recently widowed rich woman, probably had her husband do all the taxes

Okay but literally Jane Krakowski’s Law and Order character terrifies me on a primal level and I want to be dramatic and talk about it for a bit. Maybe I’m just biased and gay but I get genuinely uneasy watching her. She is a walking White Woman Jumpscare to me.
In a season 5 SVU episode Jane plays the character of Emma Spevak, a jealous sister and daughter who murders elderly women, motivated by her screwed up relationship with her mother.
The following is expanding on this post but 90% of Jane’s work is comedy. She’s very expressive and emotive and wired, and brings that energy to every character she plays. And even when she’s been in serious stuff, or has portrayed awful people, she still uses her range of emotion to express their awfulness.
Take for instance, Jenna Maroney. Evil woman. Has done bad things. But within the context of the show this is played for laughs, and you can see it in her performance.
Mom At 16 lady. A more realistic, grounded character who is struggling with motherhood and the fact that she can’t have children. Even if the writing is kind of generic, Jane’s still working the best she can with the material they gave her.
Even EMILY FUCKING KLEIN, the predatory news reporter who is a horrible person (and unfortunately the only confirmed gay Jane character I’m crying and screaming rn), demonstrates some amount of emotion when she’s on screen. I don’t have the best examples here but TLDR she’s still a human.
But Emma? Nothing.
After killing dozens of unnamed elderly women in med school and strangling even more with climbing rope later in life and shooting her brother dead she just looks so empty. There’s no rage there. There’s nothing.
And it’s so strange to see Jane play a character like this. Like… she’s holding back. Normally you’d expect her to be screaming like a banshee or throwing something or breaking down into hysterics, but she’s more like a puppet here. Up until the last few minutes of the episode her voice is just complete monotone, and EVEN WHEN she confesses to the murders she just smiles plainly and sheds exactly 1 tear.
Also just looking at her, she looks… off. It’s like yeah, that’s Jane Krakowski, but something is off by just a bit to be noticeable but not enough that it makes you question your perception of the actor. I think it’s her eyes?
Maybe I’m just dramatic but the entire performance is creepy and Emma gives me “uncanny valley” human vibes. Out of all the Jane Krakowski characters ever, I would not want to be alone in a room with this bitch.

Hi Linsky, love love all of your work and ‘more than i could ever promise’ is one of my favorite fics ever! I was looking through old tags and saw you mentioned a 1988 Persuasion AU, is that still something that’s in the works?
Funny you should mention that! I was actually just thinking about how I would love to write a story for Jack Eichel and Noah Hanifin now that Noah's been traded to the Knights, and the more I thought about it the more it was obvious that Persuasion is the perfect narrative for them. They fall in love in the USNTDP and stay together when they're both in Boston, but then someone (a parent?) convinces Noah that if they try to stay together long-distance when they're both in the NHL they'll be miserable and get outed and ruin both of their careers. Noah's not sure he'd be able to bring himself to break up with Jack if it was just his own career at stake, but if if staying together means also ruining Jack's...
So he breaks up with Jack, and Jack is furious and betrayed, and they don't speak for years. Noah resigns himself to being loveless in a career that feels lonelier by the year, and he thinks that if he could go back in time he would tell his eighteen-year-old self to forget about caution and practicality and just stay with the person who meant the most to him in the world. But it's obviously too late for that now. They play in different countries, and Jack won't even talk to him.
But then Jack has to talk to him, because Noah gets traded.

watched the 1995 persuasion film again yesterday, and then like 10 minutes of the netflix persuasion because i hate myself, and it was amazing how confident the 1995 movie was in a) its audience being able to follow the story without being spoonfed everything, and b) its silences, and not having to fill absolutely every moment with sound and motion. i especially like that this movie is really light on music that steers its audience into how to feel. netflix persuasion was absolutely packed to the gills with manic 'enjoy me! enjoy me! HERE'S MORE THINGS TO ENJOY ABOUT ME!!!!!' energy in comparison. not a single bit of it can hold a candle to the quietly expressive wonder that is amanda root's face as anne elliot.
(although i do feel like super cringe regency wine aunt dakota johnson would have been a lot of fun in some other anachronistic period comedy romp. just maybe ......... just maybe it shouldn't have been persuasion ...........)

I love all the posts w compelling textual evidence that Leander is Sneaky, but honestly the first red flag for me is that he’s a literal gang leader. Like yeah- in theory it was formed to help ppl but we won’t know if they actually do until the full game, and given the Wet Wick is full of “rough around the edges types” and Vere himself says that the Bloodhounds are no better than the Senobium mages, for now I’m filing it as a red flag lol. I also think I remember seeing something where Kuras says he doesn’t approve of the company Leander keeps but take that w a grain of salt since I can’t find it.

oh my god, they are making a queen charlotte bridgerton show. and like... why? why can't we just have actual biopic. why can't we have a biopic that shows that this was a woman who didn't take sugar in her tea to support abolition, but was part of an institution that fundamentally profited from slavery? why can't we talk about the joyful young woman who was forced to obey her rigid husband's rules, have 15 children, and could be both kind and cruel. just make a fantasy show. just. make. a. fantasy. show. i am tired.
