ML: How celebrity impacts your your day-to-day life? Does it make you lose your spontaneity?
LH: No, I'm pretty...spontaneous! I think it's an interesting journey. It's definitely not what you thought it would be. As a kid, when you see people on TV and you're like 'oh, it must be cool! this must happen, having money' all these different things but it's not all great! I think over time you just learn how to handle it. Ultimately, at some stage you realize that it's not really about you. It's a platform to do good. So, if you just have the right intentions, you can actually have a real positive impact. I think that's probably what it's mostly for.
Adrian is known for... he's got such a great history, track record, and he's obviously just done an amazing job through his career in engaging with teams and the knowledge that he has. I think he would be an amazing addition. I think they (Ferrari) have already got a great team, they're already making huge progress and strides forwards. Their car is quicker this year. But yea, it would be a privilege to work with him. - Lewis Hamilton
"...in certain moments, the list offers certainty, references and ways of working. Even for Charles (Leclerc), it will be extremely beneficial to have Lewis alongside who is a monster in terms of organization and approach to the race. He will raise our level of requirements and preparation... I had stopped discussing technical matters with him for reasons of confidentiality but we have not lost touch for 20 years. I feel he has such a desire to win... Lewis is a great motivator and he will push everyone to the limit. It's not just a matter of being able to do 1'18''8 or 1'18''9 in the car. It's also knowing that we have 1,500 people who are fighting because he is there, because he is pushing, that he is going to ask the question that stings, because he will not be satisfied with the first answer... This is what makes systems work. And this is even more true with us." - Fred Vasseur
RR: Watching your records that are amazing, I would love to know where you find your motivation? Where are you focused to?
LH: Thank you! Well, I think it's the idea that you can always improve, it's the idea that there's always something better, there's better days up ahead. I, genuinely, really love working with people and having that human interaction, the collaboration, the emotional rollercoaster you go on with a group of people is quite extraordinary. You know, when you have the highs, you experience it all together. It's not just an individual sport. So, it's those and then I genuinely love what I do. I've loved it since I was a kid. It still remains a dream. I'm still very conscious of how fortunate I am to be here. There's only 20 of us that have a role here driving in this sport and it is a real privilege for us. And I'm conscious of how hard my family worked for it. So, I'm trying to make sure I do them proud always.
I continue to have a good relationship with John and Fred so we speak regularly but no, I'm not actually in touch with the team. Of course, I observe from afar but the full focus is 'how can we beat them right now?' 'how can we win?' so that's where all my energy is going. - Lewis Hamilton
“But if we go back to L'Équipe from 2012 , we will find articles or comments from third parties who say that Lewis goes to Mercedes for the money... It is also one of the attributes of the driver to choose his team carefully. team, to imagine what the regulations will be." - Fred Vasseur
"We talked about the project at length and back, but there can be no guarantees because no one knows if the Mercedes engine will be better than the Audi or another... The best guarantee for a driver, is to say to oneself that it is legitimate for Ferrari to put everything in place to win. Given the passion, given that we haven't won in too many years, if there are efforts to be made, we will do them!" - Fred Vasseur
