Premium Shops have been updated for March 2024 and...... and it's all repeats. Uh oh.

I am very confused with this update. One second I am super excited they are finally adding characters I thought they would never add and maybe non-Switch character parts, and the next I am scared and sad.

Well, if you are a new player, now is your chance to get Amari's Dark Strawberry Ribbon SR and the VIP recolor of Yui's Fantasy Time Dream Yume Rare.

Last I heard this coord changed into the original version for Cyalume Change. Which isn't the worst except they did make a unique glow for it, but they mistakenly gave to the VIP Kami coord instead... I wonder if it's fixed or going to be?

Fun fact I was looking for this coord on the regular premium shops because I saw a Japanese user talking about it on Twitter but I couldn’t find it so I gave up and thought it was a translation error and bla bla bla until Ryuu posted about a “birthday promise” you can get this coord with and yeah… that promise of Yui and Amari in Tick Tock Magical Idol Time does give you the access to a premium shop with just the Fantasy Time Yume Rare!! And I got it because I'm awful at managing my money lol

for fun yesterday I did a lot of experimenting with coords and tags to see what gives the best score. starting with the conclusion abstract:

the Brilliant Prince cyalume is equally effective as the usual green Twinkle Ribbon SCR for grinding.

BUT if you're creating a promise, you're very slightly better off with the TR SCR because it's more likely to get filled, as not everyone has the BP CR. (this was not something I tested for, but something I inadvertently found out in the course of experimenting.)

various disclaimers: I'm 100% sure all of this is on twitter already, but I don't use and thus can't see anything on there. mega thanks to Idollandhero Hayami for being my only source for what's going on over there and making me realize that this was even something to check out, and for Luna's post pointing out the BP cyalume was a viable green coord alternative. I shan't tag you bc I don't want to even accidentally make someone read this post.

also, don't pay attention to the reward amounts when I joined others' promises, bc at those times I was focusing solely on coord bonuses and not the rhythm game. the score bonuses are the same amount whether creating or joining a promise, but joining takes less time. a lower score just means I was playing OPEN DREAM LAND according to the beat map in my head rather than the mistaken one in the game lol

background 🧬

your score is composed of:

base score. what you get from the rhythm game

rank bonus. silver rank is +1000 iine (bronze +500?)

heart bonus. max is rainbow x3 +3000 iine (rainbow +1000, gold +800, silver +500)

assigned coord bonus. premium pripara rare is +10000 iine (idk what others are)

hashtag bonuses. 5 gold tags gives you, in order, +1500, +150, +300, +450, and +600 iine. 4 gold tags removes the final +600 and +1 silver tag is only +500, so 5 gold tags is best (i.e. 5 gold = 3000 vs 4 gold + 1 silver = 2900)

I always use the green TR SCR without paying attention to the numbers, so I wanted to verify if/how worn coords affect your bonuses, and if wearing all parts of a coord or having the same tag multiple times (like the BP CR) do. these are things that were true in the arcade game, so maybe they matter here too? ...is what I wondered.

experimental procedure 🧪

the TR SCR has 2 gold tags, with no gold tag on the shoes. but changing them to the BP CR ones, adding a 3rd gold tag, gives the same 5 gold tag bonus as above, in the same order. (tags in the coord being worn are marked with a ⭐︎.)

this is true no matter what order the tags themselves are in. above the unworn #今日もあまってまーす (from the Dressy Ruby coord) gave 1500, below the worn #gold did.

wearing the full TR SCR gave the exact same bonuses as well, despite having only two gold tags on the coord:

finally, wearing the full BP CR (worn gold tags are #cyalume coord x3 and #prince for a total of 4) was... exactly the same!

and in all of these, the assigned coord bonus was the same +10000 too.

last was to confirm that they give equal rewards when creating a promise. I did Chaotic Hurricane for both of these, and both have a perfect score, so all rainbow hearts, all x3 on appeals and making drama, and full cyalume change bonus.

the same! this is also the same as the max score with the green SCR before the Dark Nightmare tag was removed, btw.

conclusion 🔬

the coord you wear does not affect the tag bonuses at all. they are entirely determined by the tags you own. wearing or owning more items with the same tag also doesn't matter. basically, as long as you do a promise with 5 gold tags you own, you get the maximum tag bonus.

the coord you wear is only relevant to the assigned coord bonus, which is the same for the BP CR and the green coord. I guess there are paid or gacha coords that give that bonus too, but the rarer a coord is, the less likely you are to fill a promise with it as the assigned coord. it's best to create a promise with easily-available coords and tags.

future research 👁️

I do have an unsolved mystery. both of the above had a base score of 14175,

but the first time I tried creating a promise I got a base score of 14170, despite having what I thought was a perfect score. all the bonuses were the same, and the rewards were only 1 iine and 1 i$ less

so in terms of grinding, it super does not matter. but it does matter when my goal is trying to figure out score mechanics. now I probably just got a x2 on the appeals or making drama without noticing, but I was watching pretty hard. and I'm pretty sure a miss there knocks off more than 5 points? I had photo evidence of getting all rainbow hearts and I got a full cyalume bonus as always, so...???

the other option is that... your team's coords matter?? this seems incorrect, but the only difference in that first promise was that one idol had different shoes and accessory. all the ones I did after (not just the 2 pictured) had 5/6 or 6/6 coord items assembled, so it's literally the only difference I could think of?? I really genuinely think I just missed a note though. the way to check this would be to screen-record lives, miss notes in a variety of ways, and see how that affects the score, but... even I have my limits.

also: songs. I'm interested to see definitively what song is best, but I'm putting this off until OPEN DREAM LAND's untenable beat map is fixed. it is definitely a better choice than Chaotic Hurricane, which I always use, but I'm afraid of accidentally memorizing the wrong rhythm. and personally I would do anything to avoid hearing Cool Star, so idk if it's better than Chaotic Hurricane or not. I think a couple paid songs are better also, but it's so difficult to fill those promises that it's best not to rank up with them.

last, I wonder about the red+black VIP coords because they seem like idol land's version of Mystery Rares (which were v high-scoring), but... I don't have one. and even if it was significantly higher, it would be impossible to fill that promise, so it couldn't possibly matter.

Ok so here’s my long ramble-y thoughts about Idol Land Pripara after playing it for a bit. I’m just gonna write what pops into my head first lol so anyway:

Coordes

I really love pretty much all the new coordes I’ve seen, they’re all very cute and pretty and very Pripara esque imo however the only downside is that some of them cost real money and are pretty expensive, even the non new ones and the ones that cost silver Idollars can be quite expensive too

It also sucks that some coordes are locked behind the paid gacha and it’s rates aren’t the best (1.5% or something chance of getting a Premium Pripara Rare so good luck getting Amari’s Cyalume) and there’s no spark system. If you get doubles you get points that contribute to your gacha meter that can get you Silver Idollars, Promise Tickets, Exchange Tickets or Gacha Tickets but you’re mostly gonna get Silver Idollars and Promise Tickets which idk doesn’t feel like a fair exchange.

I do like the Coorde sorting system compared to the Switch game tho

Silver Idollars

One decision I’m baffled by is how Silver Idollars expire at the end of the month. I thought it was because Silver and Gold Idollars were the same except Gold are paid and they didn’t want people saving their Silver so they’d never need to pay for Gold but there’s some stuff you can only buy with Gold and some you can only buy with Silver and you can’t buy Silver Idollars or (to my knowledge) exchange Gold into Silver so why does Silver expire???

Live Promises and Songs

Live Promises are fine enough, it plays pretty much like the Switch game and I like that you can just tap anywhere on the screen to play and not the button. I also appreciate the screenshot button but idk it feels too small to me, I keep missing it when I try to click it. I also find my phone gets really hot when playing Live’s and a lot of Making Dramas aren’t in E.g Baby Monster just gives you After School Heart Dash or whatever it’s called

There’s a small selection of songs rn which is a shame especially since a lot cost money but I hope they add more soon especially ones not on the switch.

It’s nice you can pretty much play Pripara as much as you want by doing other people’s Promises but you get so little Idollars and Likes compared to doing one you created. I’ve also found that a lot of times when I go to join a promise, it’s already full. The promise list also loads slowly. It’d also be nice if it asked if you wanted to change your Coorde before doing a Promise.

Also this is a nitpick but only Lala’s voice plays with the new Welcome to Idol Land making drama and not mychara voices. Also found a glitch where mychara voices get put as Genki even though I set mine at Ootori or whatever it’s called.

It also sucks with Live Promises you can only play as anime characters if you do official promises that have them and even then you can’t change their Coorde.

Snapshot Promises

I really enjoyed doing these in PriChan but it’s a shame that they give less Likes than Lives (at least I’ve found) and you can only take one pose pic of your character and the rest are other players characters. Like, I don’t really wanna take pics of random strangers characters lol

Photo Studio and Photos

This one’s kind of a let down. I think it’s paid only via the Monthly Pass but I forgot to check before I bought it. There’s only a handful of poses and pre-existing backgrounds and the photo quality is so crunchy?? Also speaking of photos, I kinda hate that I have to upload it to Pristagram if I want to save it in good quality to my phone. I’ve found it takes forever to upload and it doesn’t even indicate to you that it’s uploading because the screen just freezes and I had to try and upload pics twice today because it wouldn’t work the first time

Anime

Talked about it a lot before so won’t talk about it a lot here but I’m still disappointed they didn’t decided to release official English subs for the anime especially after subbing Primagi and making the game region free.

But I think the anime is the best thing to come out of the game, Amari is a great character, new songs are great and the animation is great

Other

Nitpick but it’s a shame the rank system is different now. Now it’s just rank 1 or rank 2 instead of like “Fledgling Idol” or “Kami Idol”. Also the lovely Coorde change jingle glitch that plays even if you’re not wearing a lovely Coorde that’s from the Switch still exists :/

I think that’s all I can think of rn. Overall the game could definitely be improved especially with how it took 3 years of delays to release like this. I also hope we get more character parts soon especially the fluffy pigtails because I wanna make my character Dia. Sorry this is so long lol, if you made it this far then thanks for reading

ikatsu Stars! (アイカツスターズ！), short for Aidoru Katsudō Stars! (アイドルカツドウスターズ！ lit. "Idol Activity Stars!"), is a collectable card game by Bandai and a spin-off of Aikatsu!, another collectable card game by Bandai. An anime adaptation was made by BN Pictures that began airing on April 7, 2016.

A movie for the anime titled Aikatsu Stars! The Movie was announced on February 22, 2016, and premiered on August 13, 2016.

Season two, also known as Aikatsu Stars! Wings of Stars Series (アイカツスターズ！星の翼シリーズ) was announced for both the anime and the Data Carddass game. The second season of the anime began airing on April 6, 2017.

The new series introduces the new type of coords: the Star Premium Rare Dresses, as well as the rival school, Venus Ark.

So you know idol animes, specifically those card collecting based ones, like Aikatsu and Pripara?

Well they have these Premium Rare dresses with TONS of details, and they have to dance in those things. Even some of just the rare cards look like they’d take a while to put on and take off.

Aikatsu stars coords are ESPECIALLY detailed, lol.

But imagine there is no card system, and the idols have to put on the outfits the old fashioned way. They take FOREVER to put on, and not to mention all the singing and dancing they have to do, sounds like hell on a full bladder!

They’d probably have an accident off stage.

Bonus points if it’s multiple songs in one concert, and by the time they’ve put the next coord on, it’s already showtime.

Oh, that's a fun concept! I don't watch any idol anime myself, but I definitely know what you're talking about - those dresses would be a NIGHTMARE to get into and out of, there wouldn't be a spare second for anything - even pee breaks! And trying to sing or dance like that, what a nightmare! I'm sure more than a few dresses have been soaked...

Back from Twitter ranting about Shiny Day, the newest Aikatsu 8 song for the winners of this years Aikatsu 8 and let me tell you, it ain’t looking to pretty on Twitter but in any case, the song is decent. Yurika, Ako, and Hana’s voices save the song here which is eye opening considering Ruka is there but she did great too. The art direction for this though... oh boy what a recycled ‘lyric video’ flop.

The Premium Shop was also updated for December with TONS of silver stuff and wow I have a lot to say about it this time!

For the VIP coord they went with Shuka's CR which was a smart choice honestly since they can't program the SCR/Yume Rares correctly and also since wow this is the best looking one yet. Too bad Shuka's style just isn't for me...

Other highlights for me include...

My favorite color variation of the Escort coord. Also the coord I used to cosplay as Louis from King of Prism.

This Lisa Frank-looking color variation that happens to be my all time favorite Sunny Zoo coord.

And... whatever this is. The Colorful Jewelry coord? Based on the look and it being a no-brand coord I thought it was maybe a design competition coord from back in the day but a quick search didn't bring up any evidence so I don't know. HMM.

And finally, a purple variation of the Mokomoko Monster coord! This is an old, obscure coord I used to collect color variations of... is what I was GOING to say, but then I actually looked it up...

The coord I was thinking of is the coord on the left. But it's actually clearly a recolor of the coord on the right. Which is a coord I only have PriChan PriTickets of..... WAIT WAAAAIT!!!!
