I just watched this movie for the first time and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. Preed is a sleazy character, voiced by Nathan Lane, of all people, but he’s doing a more refined, self-important voice than what you’d usually expect. I think he’s supposed to be a bat-themed alien, but if you just look at his skull it’s like someone put one of the Land Before Time dinosaurs in an evil anthro blender. This is somebody’s type, I’m sure of it.
The frustrating thing about this film is that it’s written around an intelligent, high-concept idea, and it has great character animation throughout - my problem is it’s kind of boring and a bit ugly. The CGI hasn’t aged well. Still, Preed was enough of a standout that I wanted to showcase him here. Why is that last shot so dynamic??
There is a web comic that reminded me of your work. Its called "Legends of Amora" and it also takes ques from Don Bluth. But, the character Diane, I would swear was one of your character designs.
I just thumbed through a few chapters! I saw the animatic the creator did to "It's Tough to be a God" but I didn't know it was tied to a webcomic :0!!
“Weeelll welll,” he says with a slight bit of sarcasm in his voice, “Now someone wishes to hear from little old me?”
He chuckles, “Now where should I start…Aaah,” he lifted a skinny finger as his ears perked slightly, “I believe that she only watched the movie I am from because of me and Stith,” he chuckles and lifts his hand beside his long snout to whisper the next bit, “And I also believe she had a slight crush on me when she first watched Titan AE!”
