Day five of Jeannes Pokemon Scarlet Nuzlocke

Okay apparently Black Friday/Christmas has decided to kick my ass this year and I have to work between 12 and 15 hours a day so I only have time to play on the weekend but here is the next day of my pokemon scarlet nuzlocke

I know after the last couple of flashbacks I'm supposed to be sympathetic towards him but... his entire design just makes me angry...

I'm sorry Ortega but the game wouldn't let me choose a body type... otherwise I would look like one of the (unusually many) buff women that are all around paldea

Oh... shit... I forgot about obedience levels

Slightly under leveled and my two main pokemon didn't obey me... but I managed to beat him without any casualties

I can't imagine why... is it because of your stupid bowlcut? Your pink/white suit with blue and gold accessories? The fact that you carry around a walking stick despite not actually needing it to walk?... I could go on...

Little training Session... Hydra, Adrasteia (I accidentally deleted the screenshot of catching her) and Hestia evolved

Okay that was by far the most fun I had with any of the gym challenges so far

Ah yes episode two of “let's confuse all the straight people”

I'm gonna be honest... I didn't pay attention for a minute here so I'm not sure how this happened but Hephaestus died

Aphrodite still carried the rest of the fight though

Okay... Ages in this game confuse me... we have Arven, a grown ass man, still going to school... (and I'm pretty sure I've seen a 60 year old trainer that was also a student) and then we have a literal toddler in the Elite Four...

Exercise... not what I expected in the psychic type gym

Ahh... there it is...

Oh hey it's one of the hot teachers (seriously why is every NPC hot? Like obviously the male ones are not my type but with the exception of the toddler I haven't met a single female NPC that wasn't at least a little attractive)

Don't you specialize in fighting types? And you really thought you had a chance against the psychic gym leader? (also I think the internet has ruined me because when she said “do what the winner says” my mind went to a very different place)

I know I made fun of Nemona a bit but she's genuinely one of my favorite rivals in the entire franchise

So I'm fighting a wrestler now... wouldn't be the first time... I mean... Crasher Wake was literally a wrestler

You know... I have a hard time believing some of this team star story... mostly the part about them getting bullied... I mean Atticus and Ortega, absolutely... Giacomo, sure... Mela, I guess... but Eri... that woman is 6 feet tall and looks like she could break a human in half... she would not get bullied... even if she was the nicest person in the world I would be afraid that one day she would snap... then again, bullies aren’t exactly known for being smart...

Bless her... she tried so hard but her stats are so garbage...

Okay so Lisa told me that I should have my team at around level 58-60 (she didn't tell me anything about their types or anything but when she looked at my team she said I should train because my highest level team member were Aphrodite and Hydra at level 54 followed by Gaia at level 48) so I decided to do some grinding to level up my team, evolve all of them (well almost all of them... Stupid Hydra won't evolve until level 64) and decide which Pokemon I want to take with me... so here's my final Team...

I did a limited type co-op nuzlocke with @shoelesscosmonaut where we each played our FFXIV characters and we were each allowed up to two pokemon of the other person’s type list but they HAD to be traded. Rules: 1) We could catch whatever, but we were ONLY allowed to use pokemon of the three typed for our trainer (Mine were normal, fairy, grass.  His were Fighting, Steel, Fire)- Tera typing did not count 2) The first pokemon of that type or evolved into that type had to be added to the party and could NOT be swapped out unless there was a death or we were trading pokemon.

3) We were allowed up to two pokemon traded from the other person that had types in their type pool

4) ONE mulligan was allowed in case we ran into a trainer/started a gym that was too high level (we avoided guides)

I had 10 deaths (oof), but managed to get through everything just fine!  Had to use my mulligan on a trainer battle on the way up to look at the E4 building.  The first trainer there has level 14 pokemon and the wild mons are around level 8.  The only other trainer, about 20ft away from the first, had a LEVEL 57 POKEMON and I only had level 20′s kfjhsdjf. All-in-all, a real fun way to run Scarlet for the first time!

I've just come up with a (probably really stupid) nuzlocke varient for SV

So in addition to normal nuzlocke rules (catch one pokemon per area, nickname them all, if they faint they're dead):

No flying, unless it's the only way out of a softlock (to clarify: this means no teleporting. Gliding with the 'dons is fine. This should be obvious for pokemon players but you never know)

Newly caught pokemon must be added to the party

You can't access the box to get a pokemon out unless you're in a town or at a pokemon center

Only heal at or buy items from each pokemon center once

You must complete each of the three stories. (Victory Road, Path of Legends, and Starfall Street) Area Zero and the story in it is optional.

While you're allowed to overlevel, since you can take on any part of the story at any time, I'd personally recommend avoiding it when possible.

A route in this case is counted as any named area where wild pokemon spawn (as in, the name appears at the top of the screen) Glaseado Mountain and Area Zero are sort of exceptions, due to their large size; Glaseado Mountain is separated into the southern grassy section and the main mountain in the north, and you can catch one pokemon in the area around each research station, as well as one in the depths.

Since there are no random encounters, just catch the first pokemon you see.

Jeannes Pokemon Scarlet Nuzlocke

So... yeah i decided to do my first blind Nuzlocke in Pokemon Scarlet (not my actual first Nuzlocke just the first BLIND one) and i’m going to post what happens here...

So first of THE RULES:

-Any Pokemon that faints is considered dead for the rest of the challenge and must be boxed

-Only the first wild Pokemon encountered in a route or area can be caught (static encounters do not count. If multiple Pokemon show up at the same time i will prioritize new Pokemon and regional variants over returning old ones) If i fail to catch it (i accidentally KO it, it flees etc.) i don’t get a Pokemon for that route.

-Gift Pokemon can be kept but do not count as the encounter for that area

-No Legendaries (If the game forces me to catch a legendary i have to box it as soon as possible)

-Nickname all Pokemon

-No Items in Battle except held items (so no potions, status healing items, X-accuracy, etc. but berries, leftovers, eviolite etc. are allowed)

 -Dupes clause: If the first Pokemon in an area is one i already own, i may continue battling until i encounter one i do not own, and then attempt to catch it

-Shiny Clause: If i encounter a shiny wild Pokemon, i can catch and use it regardless of other rules preventing me from doing so (so, yes in theory i could use a legendary if it was shiny but since they will probably be shiny-locked that wont happen) This does not count as the encounter for that area

-and lastly, since this is a) a blind playthrough b) an non-linear open world game where i could theoratically run into areas i’m not supposed to. i decided to have a pussy balancing-clause: If i encounter a pokemon (wild or trainer) that is at least 5 levels higher than my strongest Pokemon and i get wiped by them i’m allowed to reload an earlier save (this only applies i case of a TPK. If i manage to somehow win the fight but loose some of my team the nuzlocke continues as normal and the fainted Pokemon are dead)

I will write these as I’m playing but will only make one post every day so i don’t have to transfer the screenshot to my PC for literally everything that happens

and... i think that’s all... let’s go

i think this is the first time since gen 2 that i chose the grass starter for my first playthrough. i took charmander in gen 1, chikorita in gen 2, torchic in gen 3, chimchar in gen 4, oshawott in gen 5, fennekin in gen 6, popplio in gen 7 and scorbunny in gen 8.

perfect choice? you mean the only choice? the other options were a goofy crocodile that looks like an apple and a literal ugly duckling.

not sure if this is a good nature for sprigatito since i have no idea what its stats are going to be like but hey i got a female starter so that’s pretty cool.

I've been putting off the next page for a while now (I had to get a new laptop and I'm trying to become more competent at digital art), so I figured I'd make a family tree in the meantime, because damn, the Joestar bloodline is complicated.

Most of the portraits were left blank because those characters won't appear in the comic.

Giorno looks a little different here because he hasn't developed his Stand yet. He likely won't make an appearance anytime soon. (Duwang Academy's staff collectively sigh a breath of relief.)

Of course Puddles and Joji are considered part of the family! We didn't want the Pokémon to feel sidelined here, they're just as important as the JoJo characters.

Remember Steely Dan? No? Well, for the unaware: a long, long time ago, before the year of 2019, he received the longest beatdown in the anime by Jotaro at 20 seconds long. So I thought it'd be funny if he got revenge by marrying Jotaro's Mum after her divorce. ...Somehow, he treats her better than her previous husband.

You read that right: Flora has a Stand! Pokémon are indeed able to wield them, but it's a rare occurrence.

The next page should be up in June. I still really love making this comic, so don't worry about it being canned.
