it's that time of the year again...

that wonderful 24-hour time window where i get to make fun of my wife for being old.

and it's extra special this year because now she's in her 30s while i'm still in my (admittedly very late) 20s.

So after reading through my last post again now that i'm not sleep deprived (and also now that we watched more of them) i feel like i should address a few of the things i said even though it probably doesn’t matter to anyone but me

first the thing about there being no tall girls in hololive:

I really wasn't talking about the actual average height (which google tells me is about 160 cm for women so i guess from that perspective Nerissa is quite tall) i meant from my perspective.

For reference: i am 187 cm tall... sooo... yeah...

and i know what's going to happen because it always happens when i tell people on the internet this

"Oh LiSa Is SuCh A lUcKy WoMaN!" well... i like to think she is but not because of that, because she's actually taller than me at 191 cm... in fact i am not even that tall compared to friends and family:

my mom: 197 cm

my sister: 186 cm

Lisa's parents: both 190 cm

my best friend: 193 cm

my uncle: 180 cm

my cousin: 178 cm

my sisters husband: 205 cm!!! (he regularly hits his head when walking through doors. It's kinda funny)

really the only outlier was my dad at 168 cm... Yeah, HE was a lucky man

so when i hear someone being 175 cm tall it just doesn't seem tall to me

next the EU-Time thing

and i know every time this is mentioned someone will inevitably go "oh but you have Vesper and Kiara and the ID girls and you can just watch VODs" and this wasn’t actually meant to be a complaint but well...

yeah of course we can (and do) just watch VODs but sometimes you just want to watch live (and we do watch several non-hololive vtubers live if we can but hololive just seems to hate Europeans sometimes)

With the ID girls and Vesper a big problem is that they might stream during the day in Europe but just "during the day" doesn't translate to "at a good time to watch live" you see they usually stream during the early morning... when people are either at work or still in bed...

also Vesper is still MIA

and Kiara... well to me at least she struggles from a combination of three problems

her time slot: her streams usually start at 3 pm in our timezone (which is the same timezone as almost all of Europe with the exception of the UK and Portugal) so even if we assume just a regular 9-5 job and an average of 30 minutes to get home you're already missing the first 2,5 hours of her stream which wouldn't be much of a problem if it wasn't for point number 2

her choice in games: Kiara tends to stream long story driven games like Fire Emblem, Zelda or Yakuza. This means that missing 2,5 hours of a stream could mean missing significant portions of story and feeling completely lost for the rest of the stream which brings me to point number 3

her long streams: While i personally really like long streams they do make it hard to catch up. Let me give you an example...

Kiara starts streaming Zelda while I'm at work. I come home 2 hours later and can't watch the rest of the stream live because i have no idea what's happening in the story so i decide to watch the VOD the next day but she streamed for 8+ hours so watching it takes me 2-3 days...

now if she decided to stream Zelda again during those days i can't watch that stream either even if i am at home when it starts... and so the backlog just grows and grows...

Funnily enough the best schedule for European timezones is faunas...

you see fauna usually starts her streams at 10pm for us and streams for about 3-4 hours max so you can easily put one of her streams on, watch it and then go to bed once it ends... at around 2 am which probably isn't the best time to go to bed when you have to wake up at 6 am but let's not get into that...

anyway i hope i managed to clear up what i was trying to say in the last post... bye

HoloAdvent Debut Reactions

So we're finally getting another HoloEN generation and Lisa and I decided to fuck up our sleep schedule (I mean not that there's gonna be much of a sleep schedule left once BG3 comes out next week) to watch the Debuts live and I'm gonna write down my thoughts about them so lets get to it...

first up Shiori Novella

-this loading screen is somehow comfy and spooky at the same time... weird

-wow... not the voice i was expecting from that model

-"Age: eye-don't-know"... oh god we have another Ina

-well that was... certainly a story...

-i literally never heard of any of these books... but to be fair i only ever read like 15 books if you don't count the ones that i was forced to read in school

-hey, i recognize some of these cartoons... well i recognize blues clues... and I've heard of courage and south park

-so she likes harvest moon huh

-i also don't recognize any of her husbandos, anime or games... am i old or are these just very niche (I'm old... the answer is I'm old)

-eating with scissors... why?

-story-driven games... that's interesting could we finally have another Kiara?

-would you look at that... my phone finally got the notification that her debut stream is starting... thanks YouTube...

-Lisa: "oh god she dresses like me when i was 16"

-is it just me or can her model turn around pretty far compared to other vtubers... it almost seems like that already is a 3d model

-175cm... we have a new tallEST Hologirl... we still don't have a TALL Hologirl...

-pepperoni + pineapple pizza... i'm okay with either of those on its own but not both of them together you should never mix savoury, sweet, sour AND spicy (wait I just remembered americans mean salami when they say pepperoni... that's fine)

-doesn't like underwear... artist are gonna have a field day with this...

Day five of Jeannes Pokemon Scarlet Nuzlocke

Okay apparently Black Friday/Christmas has decided to kick my ass this year and I have to work between 12 and 15 hours a day so I only have time to play on the weekend but here is the next day of my pokemon scarlet nuzlocke

I know after the last couple of flashbacks I'm supposed to be sympathetic towards him but... his entire design just makes me angry...

I'm sorry Ortega but the game wouldn't let me choose a body type... otherwise I would look like one of the (unusually many) buff women that are all around paldea

Oh... shit... I forgot about obedience levels

Slightly under leveled and my two main pokemon didn't obey me... but I managed to beat him without any casualties

Okay that was by far the most fun I had with any of the gym challenges so far

I'm gonna be honest... I didn't pay attention for a minute here so I'm not sure how this happened but Hephaestus died

Okay... Ages in this game confuse me... we have Arven, a grown ass man, still going to school... (and I'm pretty sure I've seen a 60 year old trainer that was also a student) and then we have a literal toddler in the Elite Four...

Oh hey it's one of the hot teachers (seriously why is every NPC hot? Like obviously the male ones are not my type but with the exception of the toddler I haven't met a single female NPC that wasn't at least a little attractive)

Bless her... she tried so hard but her stats are so garbage...

Okay so Lisa told me that I should have my team at around level 58-60 (she didn't tell me anything about their types or anything but when she looked at my team she said I should train because my highest level team member were Aphrodite and Hydra at level 54 followed by Gaia at level 48) so I decided to do some grinding to level up my team, evolve all of them (well almost all of them... Stupid Hydra won't evolve until level 64) and decide which Pokemon I want to take with me... so here's my final Team...

Day four of Jeannes Pokemon Scarlet Nuzlocke

Didn't really have a lot of time over last two week because my father died last Tuesday and i didn't really feel like playing even when i had the time but today we actually continue the Nuzlocke

ok, I'm pretty sure legends Arceus already had idle animations like this but i think it's cool that the characters actually reacts to the weather by shielding themselves from the rain while running. I mean it's stupid and doesn't do shit but people do this in real life too so...

i decided to actually do some of the classes the game keeps telling me about because Lisa told me they would be important later and honestly... with the exception of history they all seem pretty useless right now...

time for the next titan fight

okay the idea of an evil stork pokemon throwing boulders from its... bag? Bib? Pouch?... is pretty creative but this thing does look really stupid when it opens its beak

HOLY FUCK!!!! i was actually trying to catch the Salazzle and just randomly find a SECOND shiny!?! i never found a single shiny in any of my previous Nuzlockes and now i get two in a single run

New (and as far as i can tell probably last because the only areas left are the north, east and south sea and all I seem to find there are Finizen and Wattrel) team members Hydra the Deino and Aphrodite the Salazzle

well that was a productive day... i think i will take on the Fairy squad base next...and i know that is a bad idea but look... i specifically got Hephaestus and Aphrodite for that base and the only other things left to do are

The psychic gym, but i kinda wanna wait with that until Gaia has a better dark move than bite

The ghost gym, which i could do but... see my above comment about the psychic gym...

The fighting squad, but the only team members that would be effective there are Sana and Hecate and both of them are only around level 35

and The ice gym, for which i only have Hestia and she isn't even evolved yet (well i also have Aphrodite but if i somehow loose her I'm gonna be screwed in against the fairy squad because i don't think Hephaestus can solo that)

Day three of Jeannes Pokemon Scarlet Nuzlocke

Couldn't really play a lot today (stupid family members having birthdays on the weekend after a new Pokemon release) anyway let's start

New Team member: Zeus the Wattrel

Ah right... i remember people talking about this and everyone was like "did pokemon just create a Vtuber?!?"...  well no. Pokemon took La+ Darkness, an already existing Vtuber, and gave her a pallette-swap in order to turn her into an electric-type gym leader.

Okay that actually sounds like fun

I love Iono

and of course it starts raining immideately (i think it rained for almost every imprtant battle i had up until now)

Shit that thing has Levitate doesn't it?

Had to sacrifice Zeus so i had a clean switch into Themis

honestly... for someone whos strongest Pokemon is still 4 levels lower than my team average Iono really messed me up with that no weakness levitate/electric tera-type Mismagius

New Team member: Persephone the Bramblin (i need to stop encountering so many grass types)

okay i'll do this Titan down there and that's it for today

Athena evolved on the way to the titan... that should be helpful considering it's called the "lurking steel" titan

And once again Arven shows up after i already beat the titan once

and two cross-chops later (well 5 cross-chops actually because athena keeps missing her attacks)

oh boy... we're getting arvens backstory

so he has an old, injured dog... you know if i liked dogs that would probably be really touching (befor anyone asks i'm allergic to dogs and also i was bitten by dogs multiple times as a kid. i can tollerate dogs as long as they are on a leash and stay away from me but i still won't ever like them)

and that's it for today i think for tomorrow i'll see if i can beat the dark crew base/the open sky titan but since i have to work i don't know how much progress i will make during the week

well at least it was a little more challenging than the last one...

a little grinding session before the gym: Nereus, Themis and Sana evolved

Alright Nereus is down and my opponent is at +6 speed. At this point i have several options... none of which are great

-i could try using Gaia and hope that quick attack is enough. But if it isn't Gaia dies to any of Revavrooms fire move

-i could also hope it goes for a fire move and switch in Sana with mud slap but Sana is sitting at 24 HP and gets OHKO'd by anything she isn't immune to

-Themis simply isn't an option because she will not survive anything

-alternatively i could try sending out Athena/ Hestia and hope they survive one hit but they only have neutral hitting moves...

FUCK...

I'll try it with Sana... Let's hope for the best...

So... yeah i decided to do my first blind Nuzlocke in Pokemon Scarlet (not my actual first Nuzlocke just the first BLIND one) and i’m going to post what happens here...

So first of THE RULES:

-Any Pokemon that faints is considered dead for the rest of the challenge and must be boxed

-Only the first wild Pokemon encountered in a route or area can be caught (static encounters do not count. If multiple Pokemon show up at the same time i will prioritize new Pokemon and regional variants over returning old ones) If i fail to catch it (i accidentally KO it, it flees etc.) i don’t get a Pokemon for that route.

-Gift Pokemon can be kept but do not count as the encounter for that area

-No Legendaries (If the game forces me to catch a legendary i have to box it as soon as possible)

-Nickname all Pokemon

-No Items in Battle except held items (so no potions, status healing items, X-accuracy, etc. but berries, leftovers, eviolite etc. are allowed)

 -Dupes clause: If the first Pokemon in an area is one i already own, i may continue battling until i encounter one i do not own, and then attempt to catch it

-Shiny Clause: If i encounter a shiny wild Pokemon, i can catch and use it regardless of other rules preventing me from doing so (so, yes in theory i could use a legendary if it was shiny but since they will probably be shiny-locked that wont happen) This does not count as the encounter for that area

-and lastly, since this is a) a blind playthrough b) an non-linear open world game where i could theoratically run into areas i’m not supposed to. i decided to have a pussy balancing-clause: If i encounter a pokemon (wild or trainer) that is at least 5 levels higher than my strongest Pokemon and i get wiped by them i’m allowed to reload an earlier save (this only applies i case of a TPK. If i manage to somehow win the fight but loose some of my team the nuzlocke continues as normal and the fainted Pokemon are dead)

I will write these as I’m playing but will only make one post every day so i don’t have to transfer the screenshot to my PC for literally everything that happens

i think this is the first time since gen 2 that i chose the grass starter for my first playthrough. i took charmander in gen 1, chikorita in gen 2, torchic in gen 3, chimchar in gen 4, oshawott in gen 5, fennekin in gen 6, popplio in gen 7 and scorbunny in gen 8.

perfect choice? you mean the only choice? the other options were a goofy crocodile that looks like an apple and a literal ugly duckling.

not sure if this is a good nature for sprigatito since i have no idea what its stats are going to be like but hey i got a female starter so that’s pretty cool.

So In my last post i said i wanted to talk about vtubers and i feel like the best place to start would be to explain how i got into the rabbithole because i feel like it is quite diferrent from many others.

most of the time when i hear other people talk about it it’s the same story: they randomly saw one clip (and it is always the same three clips they talk about: Korones ‘eekum bokum’, Fubukis ‘scatman’ or Mikos ‘N-word’) and youtube did the rest.

So it all started in the distant year of 2010 (i know that’s way before vtubers really existed but bear with me here this is gonna make sense later)

so in 2010 Lisa randomly found a videogame in a yard sale and told me about it. That game was The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion. After i saw her play it i knew i had to get it too and it was one of our favourite games at the time.

So you can probably imagine how excited we were when just one year later the sequel came out: Skyrim (and if you somehow haven’t heard of that one: congratulations for living under a rock for more than 10 years).

And of course we played the shit out of it. and eventually wanted to try some mods... so we went to youtube... and found the MxR channel who did weekly mod showcases.

so we watched him for a while, then eventually his girlfriend jeannie started streaming on twitch.

and she did a cooking stream with Projekt Melody...

So yeah, the first Vtuber we ever saw wasn’t from hololive, or on youtube, or even on the actual Vtubers channel.

But we actually really liked Melody in that stream and watched a couple VODs from her. mostly her chatting streams with Ironmouse.

From there we discovered the rest of Vshojo, we watched tons of clips from them on youtube, watched their streams whenever we noticed that they were live (Fun Fact the first stream we watched live was Silvervale playing Skyrim so it kinda came full circle) and generally enjoyed their content without even knowing that other agencies existed.

But as anyone who fell into the rabbithole can tell you it doesn’t stay that way. The youtube algorythm will make sure of that.

So eventually there were more and more Hololive clips in our recommended. but we never clicked on any of them for some reason until i found one video: "Investigating Takanashi Kiara's Hole (of death)” by hypurban. (and honestly that hole is still hillarious to me. i mean a 1x1 hole in the middle of nowhere that somehow killed kiara (twice), IrYS and Suisei)

That was around the time when we both really got back into minecraft so i clicked on it... and then watched part 2... and then some other hololive minecraft clips... and before i knew what had happened i was subscribed to all of the Myth girls...

from there we continued with watching all the VODs of the Minecraft streams meaning pretty much everything we ever saw on youtube were hololive clips and we fell deeper and deeper into the rabbithole

-we dicovered the council girls and the ID girls and subscribed to them too.

-we watched some videos about the JP girls to better understand what they were about (thanks to Naggz for these)

-we even watched all of the reddit-shitpost reviews with subtitles and tried to learn more about coco and her legacy

quick timeskip here to the first debut streams we actually caught live: the Tempus boys

until then we didn’t really watch any of the holostars because 1. we don’t understand japanese and 2. we simply didn’t really care about them but we decided to give them a chance and... yeah they’re great.

that brings us to the last agency we followed... Nijisanji... we actually started following them really recently. i mean we had already seen quite a few clips from them but we never really paid much attention to tem before all the hologirls started getting into Rust which is a game we neither like or care about and so we started looking elsewhere and stumbled upon a VOD of Selen and Pomu playing WWE 2K22 (or... well... less ‘playing’ and more commentating) which was really funny and we continued to watch more of them and the other NijiEN girls (and some of the boys)

at this point pretty much all of youtube and twitch is just filled with Vtubers for us but that’s probably also because we are just subscribed to so many of them

i think next i’m gonna talk about some of the Vtubers in more detail and tell you what i think about them specifically.

Holy Fuck!

Lisa and i just woke up from a 16 hour “nap”...

all because of... well technically the youtube algorithm...

...let me explain

Saturday evening we were sitting on the couch just browsing through youtube on our phones because there was nothing to watch (sure we have Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus, Crunchyroll, WWE Network and a dvd collection bigger than our steam library but still) and immediately on of the first recommended videos was a livestream from Elira Pendora...

a watchalong of the Lord of the Rings trilogy...

and the livestream had just started 10 minutes ago... so we thought ‘hey why not?’ and put on the stream and the movies.

(if you’re wondering why i’m blaming the algorithm. that’s because we originally just wanted to find something to watch until Clash at the Castle started but then we saw Eliras stream and, while I’m subscribed to Elira, if that stream hadn’t been on the starting page we probably wouldn’t have seen it immediately and only would have watched the VOD whenever we had our next LotR marathon)

now we actually do these movie marathons quite regularly. for example we watch all 8 Harry Potter movies every christmas. but usualy we do these with some preparation...

normally a typical marathon for us looks like this:

-we take a few days off at work (or schedule them for weekends with holidays)

-after we wake up we eat breakfast and immediately start the first movie

-we take 15 Minute breaks between movies

-we go to bed immediately after the last movie

-we take a couple days to get our sleep schedule back to normal

this time we did precisely none of that because:

A)we had already been awake since 8 in the morning on saturday.

B)the stream started at 8 in the evening for us

C) Lisas mothers birthday was on sunday so we had to stay awake even after the watchalong.

and D) we both have work again today.

so we were awake for 32 hours assuming i did the math right (wouldn’t have been a problem 10 years ago but we’re both 28 now and... well we just can’t do that anymore) and by the end of it we felt like shit. but honestly it was a lot of fun...

we can basically already dub these movies ourselves from memory because we’ve seen them so often but this watchalong brought something new into the mix. it started with Elira, Rosemi, Fulgur, Sonny and Shu but  Vox, Pomu, Luca and Yugo all made appearances along the way and while some of them (i believe only Vox and Fulgur) had seen the movies already, hearing the others experience them for the first time was really cool and we will probably put the VOD on whenever we do another marathon in the Future. also i kinda hope someone does a Harry Potter or Star Wars watchalong sometime because those are the three movie series we do marathons of the most. (Or a MCU watchalong so we can finally catch up with that. The last MCU movie we watched was age of ultron)

anyway i need to get to work in 30 minutes so i’ll stop now but now that i have posted this i will do something in the next few days and weeks that i wanted to do for a while now: talk about Vtubers... because there is a lot i have to say about them and i was kinda discouraged because whenever i look around Tumblr i just see a lot of fanart but nearly nothing else and since i don’t do fanart i was kinda afraid to post anything but now i made one post so...

...why not make a few more right?

Ok, after nearly 60 hours in the game we finally finished Pokemon Legends Arceus yesterday. Originally i wasn't going to talk about it but now that I've seen quite a few reviews on the internet i kinda wanna... rant talk about it anyway

First of all i want to say: Lisa and I really fucking loved the game and we'll probably play quite a bit more in the future but i saw a few points that are brought up all the time by people who apparently didn't like the game

(and to be clear here. It's totally fine if you didn't like the game. In fact there are a few things i wasn't a fan of either and I'll get into those at the end but some of these points are just stupid...) so let's get to it...

(Oh right... SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT)

"The open world is empty / boring" I feel like these are the same people who say that the world in skyrim or fallout is empty...

it isn't.

It's full of wild pokemon, resources to gather, interesting landmarks...

sure there aren't a lot of NPCs all over the map but that wouldn't make sense. The galaxy team has just gotten to hisui and most of them are just civilians who are probably afraid they would just get killed by wild pokemon and the two clans logically stay mostly in their settlements too. I would do the same if i was living in this world...

"The graphics / framerate / artstyle is just bad" Okay, let's ignore that the thing about the artstyle is completely subjective, I personally really liked it.

I get the argument about the graphics actually...

of course there are PC/Console games that look way better. And yes, Pokemon is one of the biggest franchises out there...

but the Switch isn't a PC the Switch is barely even a console...

The Switch is a handheld that you can connect to your TV...

Gamefreak couldn't make the graphics (much) better...

well... they could but that would be like the witcher 3 on switch... looks good at fist but becomes a completely unplayable slideshow as soon as more than two characters are on screen...

and... well...

okay I guess there's no way around it...

the framerate...

I just don't get that point...

no really. I don't understand why people care so much about that. 60 fps, 120 fps, 240 FPS!!! WHAT THE FUCK?!? I mean movies usually have 24 fps and no one complains about that... the average human eye can't even tell the difference once we go over 45 fps (sure there are people who can but we're talking about the average here)

I personally always limit framerate at 30 fps on PC and crank up the resolution instead... runs just as smoothly but looks way better... anyway I ranted enough about framerates in the last 10 years at least and I'm honestly tired of it... on to the next point

"The wild Pokemon just stand there" This one obviously comes from people who haven't actually played the game. Because if you have played it you would know that it's simply not true.

Pokemon don't just stand there. Every pokemon reacts to the player in different ways... some run away as soon as they spot you, some are suspicious and will watch you but keep their distance and others just straight up try to murder you...

"The story is boring / predictable / otherwise bad" I really don't get this argument... in my opinion the story is by far the best any pokemon game had up until now (note: I haven't played many of the spin-offs like XD, Colosseum or ranger) the only one that even comes close was Black & White.

I mean at least in this game the climax of the story actually comes... you know... at the end of the fucking story not about two thirds of the way and then you go back to just fighting gyms again.

Also there were quite a few twists that I didn't see coming. like Volo being the antagonist. And over all the story really went in a very different direction than I thought. For example I thought that eventually the two clans would end up fighting each other and you would have to choose a side. Or that it would be revealed that there is a third clan that has infiltrated the others (that was mainly because of the way Arezu was framed at the beginning and the fact that giratina exists).

The predictable thing would have been if Cylene, Arezu, Coin and some ancestor of Jupiter would have been the bad guys and you and Volo worked together to stop them.

"There is no voice acting" I mean... true... but do we really need voice acting? Can't you read? Do we really want to repeat BotW? (Okay, this may not apply to the English localization but the German voice acting in that game was horrible)

"There are no gyms / online-battles / breeding / insert other feature here" Again... true... but SuMo didn't have gyms either and everyone seemed to love that. Online-battles were in no spin-off as far as I know. Abilities weren't in Let's Go... Breeding isn't really useful if there are no Online-battles (and shinys are obtained way easier by other means)... and that's all the removed features I can think of right now...

"The game is too easy" So this is the same argument that pops up with every pokemon game since gen 5 (or at least that was the first time i heard it) and also probably the only common argument that i usually agree with.

However... not in this case.

Yes, BDSP was way too fucking easy but that is a topic for another time.

Legends Arceus was not too easy... it wasn't unbeatable but there were several points in the game where we genuinely had to stop the main story and grind up our pokemon to catch up with the enemies. Sure if you want you could try catching one of the overpowered alphas and just sweep through the game but that's like saying 'you could just transfer a lvl 100 pokemon from pokemon bank and sweep through ORAS'

technically that's true but that is a conscious decision to make it easier for yourself while in BDSP even if you only fought the battles you couldn't avoid you wouldn't end up too under-leveled and thanks to the affection system you would probably still not have many problems until you reach the elite four, or more specifically Cynthia. In this game we were regularly ten or more levels below the opposing pokemon...

Ok, i think that's enough... i could keep defending this game for... probably until the next pokemon game comes out (i mean I'm probably the only person alive still regularly defending both mass effect 3 and andromeda) but that's not the point of this post... and as i said there are things i didn't like about it so let's talk about those.

NPCs: Ok, I admit this point is probably very specific to me and no one else but it kinda bothered me how many NPCs were ancestors of existing characters from other games...

it wouldn't have been so bad if it had been only a few key-NPCs or if it was all of them but this way every time a NPC showed up and wasn't obviously connected to another character I literally paused the game to think about which characters they could be ancestors of...

so far the only NPCs I haven't found to be connected to other characters are Irida, Iscan, Melli, Palina and Laventon. (I would also put Adaman here but bulbapedia says he is the brother of Mai so that would mean he's connected to Marley)

Side note: it took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure out Volo was supposed to resemble Cynthia and not Volkner

Fast Travel: this is a simple one... I would have liked it if I could fast-travel from one area to another without having to go to jubilife first...

EVs & IVs: Listen...

I know I just defended a lot of missing features from earlier games not being in this one... and if this “Legends”-thing becomes it's own spin-off series that's fine...

but I've seen a lot of people who were actually happy that the EV & IV system isn't there anymore and...

I just don't get that...

yeah in earlier games the IVs were often a pain in the ass but since SuMo and especially since SwSh it is incredibly easy to get competitive pokemon:

you just catch a pokemon, pump it full of  vitamins, mints, EXP-candies, TMs/TRs and bottlecaps and you have a competitively viable pokemon (Ok you still might need to breed them for egg-moves or shinys but that's not the point) especially now that Hidden Power isn't dependent on specific IVs anymore you have no reason not to max them out...

Far away Pokemon: If I can see a Pokemon on my screen and hit them with a jet-ball I should be able to catch them with said jet-ball...

I have failed so many capture-attempts simply because the pokemon was hit but not caught

Lock-On: Lock-On should never require you to hold a button...

just let me tap the button and then keep the cursor locked to the pokemon...

I need both the L/R buttons to switch between items/pokemon but I can't use the L button if my finger has to hold the ZL button and if my satchel is full it takes way too long to completely circle through all my items using only R (this by the way is why I never used the stun-items)...

also it should work if I'm more than two meters away from the pokemon I want to catch...

Illusion of Choice: Look... If you want to tell a linear story that's great but please don't ask questions and then just repeat that question until I say yes... either give me the choice to say no or don't ask questions...

and that's all I can think of... like I said I overall liked the game and really hope that it turns into its own spin-off series but i'm not sure if I would want this to be the new direction for the main games... maybe that’s just me but i don’t like it when long runing franchises change their gameplay drastically...

that’s why i stopped playing metroid after fusion and only started again when dread came out...

i’m sure the prime games are great games but they are not metroid games... they are spin-offs...

and it’s the same with pokemon... i started playing pokemon with the blue edition... in fact that was the second video game i ever played (the first one was mario kart at a friends birthday) and the gameplay has stayed pretty much the same... that’s why i still like them

anyway this wasn't supposed to be such a long post I just really wanted to talk about the game.

Royal Rumble Predictions

Not gonna Lie... i kinda forgot it’s today... mainly because it’s saturday... it feels weird being able to watch a WWE Pay-per-view Premium Live Event live and not have to worry about getting enough sleep for work... but anyway just like last year here are my predictions for the Royal Rumble 2022:

Edge & Beth Phoenix vs. The Miz & Maryse: Probably the match i care about the least but i guess Miz & Maryse... i believe WWE wants to stretch this feud till Mania and a face-win wouldn’t really make sense for that currently...

Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Bobby Lashley: honestly this one is hard to tell... if they still want Brock vs. Roman for Mania Bobby kinda has to win here unless they actually want a champion vs. champion match so i’m gonna go with Lashley as the winner here

Roman Reigns (c) vs. Seth Rollins: Roman HAS to win this one... if Roman looses his title it HAS to be against a face... that would basically strap a rocket to their back and immediately depict them as the new face of the company... anyway Roman CAN’T loose here

Becky Lynch (c) vs. Doudrop: Sorry but again Becky cannot loose here... Doudrop has not been build up as someone who could win here she is obviously just a stop-gap challenger because WWE didn’t want Liv or Bianca again... so yeah... Becky is gonna win

Mens Rumble Match: again hard to tell... i can’t really see any of the announced participants as the next champion... i mean Austin Theory seems to be Vince’s newest pet project, AJ Styles, Randy Orton and Kevin Owens can be put into a champion programme at any given time simply because of their reputation and there’s always the chance that (if he looses his match) Brock shows up to set up the Mania Match with Roman... honestly i have no idea for this one...

Womens Rumble Match: Okay... I really want Rhea to win this but... she already has a feud with Nikki so i don’t see that happening (I hope it does but i doubt it will) It’s usually never a god idea to bet against Charlotte but it just wouldn’t make sense to have her win... Now IF and only if Ronda returns she will win but that isn’t guaranteed... Sasha could win i guess but it would have made more sense to have her as a surprise entrant then... there’s a chance that Bailey, Alexa or Asuka could return but... again not guaranteed... I’m just gonna say Rhea (I CAN HOPE OKAY!!!)

my sister was tested positive for covid three days ago so we had to do our new years eve family gathering via zoom and can i just say... i’m really fucking glad that lisa is a teacher and had to use zoom for her classes before because honestly i could never have figured this out...

all these room-codes, 2-factor-authentification and shit is not only confusing to me but also fucking anoying...

like... it’s been at least 12 years but if i remember corectly in skype you just clicked on a contact and then clicked video-call and that was it... what was wrong with that...? can... can we just have that back?

So...

We moved in to our new apartment last month. But because someone (me) fucked up we didn't have internet here until today...

On the plus side one and a half months with no internet, no TV and generally nothing to do but each other (we also played a lot of animal crossing and pokemon BDSP but that's not the point) meant we managed to stay clear of any spoilers...

So now we're debating if we should try to catch up with critical role, read the summarys and just watch live again starting tomorrow or skip our annual Harry Potter Marathon over christmas to watch everything we missed then...

Alright it’s time Critical Role Campaign 3 Episode 1 Thoughts:

-Oh God it makes me so happy to see them back at the table together

-that ad was surprisingly normal... is sam okay?

-ah there it is

-not gonna lie... that was actually kinda catchy

-sorry matt it’s a thing now

-european store? great news for us... not so great news for our wallets...

-starting at level 3... so everyone should have their subclass already... cool

-imogen, human, sorcerer for laura

-laudna, warlock/sorcerer, for marisha ...looks like a vampire?

-security camera birds... that’s cool

-ahh bureaucracy... good thing beau isn’t here. she would have punched that woman in the face already... and she would have deserved it

-read thoughts? abberant mind sorcerer maybe?

-okay laudna is great

-ashton, earth-genasi, barbarian for taliesin

-ashton is a mood

-Fresh Cut Grass, Warforged? cleric for sam...

-robbie?!?

-oh my gods it’s the Ash Holes!!!!! yes i know they decided on crown keepers but i like ash holes more

-i’m kinda sad that opal isn’t with them... she was my favourite

-dorian is clapping for the pilot... that immediately makes him my least favourite character in all of critical role... WHY DO PEOPLE DO THAT?!?

-wait didn’t aabria give them like a billion platinum? and several super strong magic items? that seems like a real problem for balancing

-wasn’t he still wearing the earring? how did fearne do that?!? i had someone rip off an earring once and belive me you would notice that... it hurts... and bleeds... like a lot!!!

-okay they’re fighting furniture now... BEAUTY AND THE BEAST PROTOCOL EVERYONE!!! yes that’s a Oxventure reference

-channel divinity: sympathetic binding? so F.C.G. is a homebrew subclass?

-WHAT THE FUCK MARISHA?!?

-feels wierd to have someone rage without travis cheering them on

-gravity build? ashton is homebrew too?

-travis is here!!!!

-so travis is... just some old dude?... he didn’t even get a character portrait

-a spiritual tomato... never change sam... never change

-F.C.G. can take the damage for his teammates? that reminds me of my Oath of Matyrdom Paladin

-bertrand is level 5? So he’s probably just temporary right?

-okay lisa just told me that Bertrand is from some one-shot from Campaign 1 but apparently he was level 18 in that... confusing

-SAM!!!! just... why?

-INSIGHT CHECK!!!! Oh i’ve missed that

-and he stole the fucking earring! AND GOT PAID FOR IT!!!

-We’re only at the break now?!?

-i just love these first party meetings everyone is always so awkward and mistrusting at first

-lisa just cheered when marisha said that Laudna is from whitestone

-wow travis is really trying to make this guy every stereotypical old person ever huh?

-orym seems like he’s already regretting everything

-so dorian basically just went: “anyway here’s wonderwall”

-this is already so much chaos! and we’re only in episode 1

-you know i never thought about if warforged need to take a shit

-okay apparently they don’t... they just vomit out what they can’t process

-what a fucking cliffhanger

Final Thoughts: What the Fuck! i was not ready for any of that. these characters are great. I do feel like bertrand and maybe the Ash Holes aren’t going to be permanent members of the party though... Imogen seems genuinly nice which is rare for DnD characters, F.C.G. is... well... sam..., Ashton is really cool and i really wanna know what laudnas whole deal is she’s my favourite so far. anyway i already can’t wait for the next episode

Okay we:

-stocked up on energy drinks, chips and other snacks

-kicked out convinced our friends and family to leave now

-told everyone not to disturb us unless someone died

-ordered a pizza to arrive 15 minutes before the episode starts

-took a nap so we can stay up long enough to watch the entire episode

-took the day off tomorrow

-turned all devices to silent so we won’t get disturbed

... i think we’re ready for this
