Imma be real I genuinely hope that the question as to whether Poppy and Viva have a biological mother or not never gets answered or even hinted at. I think it's cool how a majority of the Trolls characters don't have complete, nuclear families! It makes the whole family message stronger :D

#so dark out here #umm dead boy detectives review here we go! first two episodes were definitely the worst of the series. both are kinda weirdly paced and #the exposition is done poorly in places. overall from episode 3 onwards it gets much much better with pacing and show dont tell #do not understand for the life of me why they made crystal palace american #kassius nelson (<- crystals actress) was very good in places and kinda ehhh in others and im 90% the issue for most of the latter moments #was just that her american accent is not great. sorry they did that to you queen #dialogue was a bit dodge sometimes as well #stuff i liked now! the plot felt quite solid and i really enjoyed the monster of the week approach i think thats the perfect way to #do a dbd adaptation. was a bit annoyed they immediately went to america but port townsend was an interesting setting and all the #supernatural elements/characters fit in nicely #major props cos i feel like the show mostly pulled off the emotionally charged moments without getting corny and the dialogue was generally #good in those moments #particularly charles/crystals heart to heart in ep. 3 and like the entirety of episode 7 (<- ep 7 was brilliant) #overall very fun watch and i feel that the more irritating typical YA show garb was at least a bit offset by them being willing to get #quite dark in places #bit sad people are mostly posting about edwin becos charles was my favourite. has been entertaining watching americans scramble around #the cultural differences in the show #shaking my inbox like a maraca. if anyone wants to talk at me abt the show i will love you forever #.log

speaking of consort queens, here's an exciting READING UPDATE:

edward ii's queen, isabella, went off to france a few pages ago and he was like "u make nice for us with ur brother the king of france and then come back by midsummer okay?" and she was like "yeah sure" and then she kind of loitered in france for a bit and then edward sent his eldest son - also called edward, just to confuse ppl - off to france to pay homage to the king of france for the duchy of wherever(1) and then isabella swooped in and collected the kid, which nobody was very fussed about cos he's her son too, and it's well past midsummer by now but isabella's been so meek and subservient like a good and proper womanly wife so surely she isn't going to do anything that -

WELL SURPRISE, MOTHERFUCKERS. isabella's now set up a rival english court in france and is wearing black and claiming she's a widow(2) and she is NOT sending the smaller edward back home he's hers now and he's the REAL king of england, oh and also she has a new man in her life called roger mortimer (pretty sure they are banging) who i assume is related to those troublesome mortimers from an earlier chapter and regardless of whatever happens next i am sure i speak for all of us when i say this is currently prime good-for-her-dot-gif material:

i think this is all probably treason in some way but fuck it a long-suffering queen can have a little treason sometimes, as a treat.

I just realized a lot of the mess with House of The Dragon is reminding me of that plot in Vikings where they had Lagertha kill Aslaug for literally no reason, (she made peace with her like a decade prior, blamed Ragnar for cheating, etc), and also had Lagertha dismiss the idea of Ragnar’s sons with her mattering because “they’re born of a witch” even though the show did not treat völva this way, and it was a weird US Salem Witch Trials mentality to shove in. 

And how I was supposed to then root for Lagertha and Bjorn against Ivar, when the whole mess started with Lagertha killing Ivar’s mother in cold blood. It always effected my ability to feel what the show wanted. I could not BELIEVE Ubbe sided with Lagertha either. Ivar had every right to want her dead.
