Thank you @themarymag amplifying our @humblebloomco #HBFieldTrip experience. Pure labor of love and community. Curating, developing and producing this with my work wife @dannielswatosh changed much about how I move in the world. But more importantly altered mindsets of those participating to be more conscious in theirs. By the end of the weekend, the Kincade wildfires would grow to seismic proportions, causing widespread evacuations across Sonoma Valley and Blue Lake, clocking in as one of the largest wildfires on record for the region. But at the picturesque Lodge at Blue Lakes, culture curators, Humble Bloom, created an oasis of community and cannabis amidst the chaos. Forty individuals traveled from across the country for Humble Bloom’s annual Field Trip, an inclusive weekend retreat aimed to forge community between cannabis leaders and enthusiasts. Since returning from the #HBFieldTrip the way I see, move, feel, express and breathe has shifted. Moved from non-stop community curating to extended moments of self-imposed isolation. So much growth occured in the weeks leading up, while driving through the smoldering NorCal hills, and upon re-entering NY and being confronted with the now. Even when you've unearthed new dreams, the ones you left behind can creep up and knock you over momentarily. Lying just beneath the surface, waiting for you to slowdown, feel, and process. I was asked recently in an interview what makes me feel powerful. It was actually a really difficult question to answer. How does a black woman in America (or anywhere for that matter) without generational wealth or support of a partner feel in control? Sick of hearing that I'm so strong. Black women have no choice but to be strong. When your an empath and emotions, oppressions, and energies enter your spirit without warning. Waves and surges of past and future collided and almost toppled me over. But I realize this is healing... I've been strong, working, constantly moving, helping others and yesterday I stopped. Finally focused on what's within. Being vulnerable, sharing, and facilitating community connection makes me feel powerful... so does this @marahoffman hemp dress. Just 48 hours of exploration and connection in the Bay for @humblebloomco -- went by too fast. Day 1 - Spent in two parts in #NorCal. One of which was at @asterfarms soaking up knowledge and history through @stef_af_ with @chachamaria (my Bay canna wing woman). 🏞 We also met with Maryann of @lodgebluelakes and her energy is otherworldly. Chelsea and I chased her around the site. Also took some time to hear what future interstate cannabis commerce collabs btw the States of Oregon and California could look like via @ourcraftfuture. Not pictured but very interesting from a variety of viewpoints. And then after 9 hours of driving she rested. Day 2 - Woke up early for calls in 3 different timezones as @dannielswatosh is still in Mauritius... took a nap and headed into the city. 🌉 @rileywestgaard was one of the first people I hit up when I solidified dates. Wanted to catch up with her + as many #BayCannaSisters as possible -- she made it happen. Welcoming a gaggle of canna babes to hers for an IRL potluck/kiki. Many I'd never met or only had DM love for, others I've met once upon a time at @broccoli_mag In Bloom, and some on my first discovery trip in January. Regardless, the vibe of belonging wafted through the air. Thanks again Riley for your generosity + genuine #sisterhood since the moment we crossed paths at @summit -- I'm smitten and inspired by your open hearted nature.
