Reflecting on opening and bearing my soul to the new energies that surround me. Two Sundays ago I was invited to my first @blackgirlmagik meetup. It started the healing of trama not fully dealt with from a few summers before. Lack of national empathy for Black men being gunned down, the powerlessness of the war on my womb, and little black babies being deemed worthless by society. This throwback (slightly censored) from a 📷 series by @helenadebraganca hoped to deconstruct myths and toss aside projections of the angry hypersexualized Black woman elevating her to the rank of human. During this rainy Sunday I let vulnerability take the lead with group of black womxn. After a guided meditation we journaled and I found these words. ....... On the precipice of breakthrough Coming out of hibernation and stagnation Connecting to self through sisterhood True sisterhood Like nothing I've experienced Black women of all shapes, sizes, hairstyles, backgrounds.
