Las Vegas Vacation part 11.
We went to the pinball hall of fame! Second best arcade I've been to in the country. They had a lot of beloved classic video games from the 80s and 90s like mario, pac-man, Super Mario, The Simpsons, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles etc. They have a lot of vintage arcade games and I mean vintage. There were games you'd find on a boardwalk probably from the 1930s. A lot of classic pinball machines from the 1960s as well as modern pinball machines made this century. Yes you can play all of these games but they ask that you bring your own quarters. They have a change machine but they never have enough quarters.

Released in 1984 by Williams Electronics, Space Shuttle is a landmark pinball machine that played a crucial role in revitalizing the pinball industry during the mid-1980s. Designed by Barry Oursler, it was among the first to incorporate realistic and sophisticated sound effects, including actual NASA Space Shuttle recordings, which enhanced the player's experience. The gameplay involves completing missions to launch the shuttle, and the playfield features a detailed replica of a space shuttle, adding to the immersive experience.
Space Shuttle was also brought to the digital world as part of The Pinball Arcade, allowing players to experience this classic game on modern devices. The digital version has been praised for its accurate physics and sound replication, effectively capturing the essence of the original machine. By being included in digital pinball collections, Space Shuttle has been preserved for future enthusiasts and remains accessible to a broad audience, helping to cement its legacy as a classic in the world of pinball.
Personally, while I find Space Shuttle to be a fun and innovative table, it is not one of my favorites due to its point system. In my opinion, the scoring is not rewarding enough, and it takes too long to accumulate points. Although I enjoy the gameplay, I can't help but feel frustrated by the imbalance between completing missions and the relatively small points awarded for them.

Tips on how to Outfit Your Quite Own Game Room
Many guys dream about someday having the greatest game room where everyone wants in order to come and hang up out every weekend break. But, to continue to keep the basement through looking like a frat house, it needs a lot extra than just billiards and pool signs. Here are a few ideas for what just about every well-appointed game room needs for greatest entertainment and entertainment. pinside is not really essential, but occasionally it is beneficial as well as more interesting to embellish the game space in a few kind associated with theme. Some well-liked ones for example sports, race cars, school teams, 50's, warm and the films can definitely unify a new room. A number of attractive items can be obtained from any theme you can believe of. Some people start by finding wallpapers, a special light light fixture or a rug in order to use while others might have a selection of memorabilia these people want to spotlight. Whether or not it will be just to observe a football video game or play some sort of few hands associated with poker, a fantastic sponsor makes sure to offer refreshments for guests who come to visit. So, the home bar together with some stools and also a refrigerator are important to keep the drinks and snacks coming without interrupting just about all the fun. This does not issue if the pub is built inside permanently or in the event that it is lightweight. Just keep a fully stocked bar having a variety of drinks and your friends will certainly be certain in order to enjoy your firm even more. Add a dart board or perhaps two and a person have got the winning combination. Even if no one is usually a very good player, it is definitely always fun to be able to get a warm and friendly card game heading, so a game room must have a new poker table plus chairs. Once protected up, it may also operate as any some other table, so acquire one adequate to be able to accommodate guests for eating or other pursuits such as playing games. Other well-known game tables one may want to consider will be air hockey, Foosball and ping pong. If there will be insufficient room intended for many different activity tables, seek out a single table that may be modified into multiple games. No real game room would get complete without at least one arcade game. Find your favorite basketball, bowling or video games mainly because well as pinball machines at online stores in new or perhaps used condition. A person and your guests could have fun striving to beat every other's score. Bring back family activity night and stock your game place with all the classic panel games that you just keep in mind from when you were a kid. A huge monitor TV and a few comfortable furniture will probably be positive to attract all the sports fans that you simply no matter just what season it is. Or, host film nights with a new home theater system. Any gathering might be a success with the particular addition of some sort of karaoke machine. Throw in a popcorn machine and a jukebox, as well as your home can suddenly become gathering central.

Maybe my favorite machine at the Pinball Hall of Fame - Williams "Apollo Lunar Shot" from 1967. I'm a sucker for space stuff as well as mid-century Atompunk aesthetic.
The machine has decent action although the top bumpers are a little anemic. Also I love the pre-inflation scoreboard, four digits only!

Have you ever heard of the Pinball Circus, and should you steal it?
I have!! I think the Pinball hall of fame has one available to play (iirc there were two made). For anyone who doesn't know what we are talking about, pinball circus is a unusually shaped pinball machine prototype with a focus on vertically.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The game is not as long as a standard pinball machine but it has a really unique multi level design. You try to hit the ball up the ramps to higher levels. Each level has a flipper that you can use to try and shoot the ball to the next level. Higher level playfields reward you with more points.
The people who made it were trying to break the pinball formula, and create something that would get more attention than a standard pinball machine. Unfortunately, when they tested the game on location it made about the same amount of money as a standard pinball machine. They opted not to manufacture more copies Pinball Circus because they didn’t think people would be interested in buying a more expensive game that wasn’t likely to make more money.
Now for the second part of your question. If I had to steal a pinball machine, it would not be this one. By all accounts Pinball Circus is a fun game, but it’s not anymore fun than a standard pinball machine. Maintaining this game would be hard because it has a lot of unique parts that you would be hard pressed to replace.

Today is the final day of Season Nine.
It's gone on for nearly two years, the longest season yet after the moon ended Season Eight. The Empires folks crossed over. We had Decked Out II, Doc's Perimeter, the Entity, Grumbot Prime, the Hole of Fame, Soup Group, Joe's pinball machine, TCG, Scarland, three Life series, so much more. Nineternity, that's what it is. And now it's coming to an end.
I joined the fandom, got into hermits other than good ol' Grian (Gem, Joe, Zedaph, Tango, Cleo), and it was exhilarating. This season has been the first I've really explored the fandom, despite being here since s6. I don't regret anything. This fandom is beautiful, and I've had so many good moments, whether it be the Decked Out opening stream, squealing over the Hall of All, writing fic... and now we're going into Season Ten.
It's unbelievable and I love it.
Thank you Hermits, for making Hermitcraft, for being so damn funny and smart and kind. Thank you for letting me be a part of this community. Wouldn't trade it for twelve bamboo.
I cannot wait for s10.

Released in 1990 by Williams Electronics, Whirlwind stands as a pinnacle of pinball innovation, masterfully crafted by the renowned Pat Lawlor. This table transports players into the heart of storm-chasing, blending the exhilaration and unpredictability of tornadoes with strategic gameplay. Players are challenged to brave severe weather conditions, striving for high scores and unlocking special modes through skilled play. The game's immersion is deepened by its compelling sound effects and voice callouts, alongside a playfield adorned with vibrant artwork and thematic elements that capture the essence of being amidst a ferocious storm. Its ingenious blend of stimulating gameplay and imaginative design has solidified Whirlwind as a revered classic within the pinball community.
From a personal standpoint, it ranks among my all-time favorite pinball tables, securing a spot in my top 10. Its groundbreaking mechanics, abundance of objectives, and the originality of its theme represented a complete package during its time, offering an unparalleled and enduringly enjoyable experience.
In its digital form, Whirlwind continues to enthral both veterans and newcomers alike, providing an authentic rendition of the table's original allure and challenge. This digital reincarnation ensures that its legacy persists, allowing players to indulge in the thrill of storm chasing from the comfort of their homes, thereby preserving its celebrated status into the digital era.

3, 8, 9!!
hiya kasper! thank you for making the ask and then sending me an ask :DDD
under a readmore because it got LONG
3. Cher - Believe.mp3: unwritten by natasha bedingfield because release your INHIBITIONS feel the rain on YOUR SKIN no one else can feel it for YOU only you can let it IN. brebbs has already put his whirlwind romcom itinerary out in the world; webby just needs to say YES. yes to drenching himself in words unspoken, yes to living his life with his arms wide open!! YES TO GIVING THAT BOY A TOUR OF YOUR HOMETOWN (1).
8. Hall of Fame - BUMBUSTER!! they are actually going through a difficult period of separation right now because buster went in for that ownership stake, which could've been fine because plenty of sports team owners stay hands-off and prioritize their other investments, but he's buster, so he's GOTTA be IN there, even though he promised bum after they retired, he'd let him teach him how to ride and rope and they'd see if they were up to starting a herd out in north carolina. (phew, run-on sentence!) building a herd could literally refer to a herd of cattle or, euphemistically, maybe a friend of a family friend knows a girl who's in trouble and, well, it's something they've been talking about for almost their entire careers in baseball, but with their schedules, and then bum signing in arizona, it just wouldn't have been fair to let any kid essentially be 90% raised by a nanny. anyway so when buster flew off to pay court to shohei ohtani, bum left him a voice message: don't bother coming back, you BASTARD, unless you want to be met on the porch (that you and i built!) with a shotgun.
9. Hot Stove SZN - casey schmitt/jd davis/michael conforto...he is their young man!! jd's had a thing for michael since they were both on the mets, but then michael missed a season, and jd got traded, and then michael came and signed with the giants and jd thought...maybe. maybe. and then michael showed up for spring training, as beautiful and steady as he always was, and jd thought, fuck it who knows how long we've got before we're traded away, maybe we can try drinks. it's too easy to be around each other, but what's the point of fighting it? farhan will make his moves when he does, and they'll keep trying a different napa vintage with dinner every night.
casey comes up, and they definitely share a little chuckle as he pinballs around the clubhouse. he does solicit hitting tips from each of them, but is disheartened that they don't so much as blink when he pouts. casey definitely asks blake about them, and blake is like: casey, they live together. casey...doesn't know what that means. blake tries again: casey, they cook dinner together. casey: *suprised pikachu face* that...means he needs to COMPLETELY change up his approach! blake facepalms because that is NOT what he meant and decides he'd better go get a real vet to head this off at the pass.
but it's too late. casey has already finagled a dinner invite to the conforto-davis household, where, despite his best intentions, he gets wine-drunk way too fast and falls asleep in his dessert. michael and jd look at each other over the rims of their glasses and rock paper scissor for who washes the dishes and who puts him to bed in the guest bedroom. casey wakes up for breakfast, is embarrassed for exactly half a minute, remembers who he is, makes eye contact with jd, sits himself down in michael's lap and steals his waffle. jd, who is making more waffles, closes the waffle iron on the sleeve of his shirt. michael sloshes his coffee onto casey's pants and well, now he has to go lend casey a pair of pants. he very nearly loses his composure when casey shucks his pants in their bedroom, and then michael does lose his composure for real when jd follows them in and closes the door behind him. it definitely takes at least two sets of hands to handle casey's manic pixie dream girl-ness (2) (3).

It's Been A Good Run
This is a decision I've mulled for a long time, and after some thought, I've made a final decision.
As of this moment, I consider myself retired from fic writing. Unless something drastically changes, I am through writing fanfiction. This was something I was hesitant to post, particularly because I knew it would disappoint people, but I figure it's better than never saying anything and leaving everyone hanging.
Unfortunately, this means that the Sword Saint Chronicles is now dead. I did not intend for this, particularly because I'm always one who believes in finishing what I started, but at this point, barring any drastic change, the series will not be completed.
To explain my decision, let me give a little background on my adventures in fic writing and about me.
You see, prior to writing fanfiction, I had a lot of things going on in my life. I spent time with friends, I played the Final Fantasy Trading Card Game, I played a lot of video games and pinball, and I attended a lot of conventions. I had plenty going on. In early 2020, I discovered Hamefura by chance while browsing TVTropes, and seeing that, the premise interested me. I then read some manga scanlations and was even more hooked. Then I found out an anime was coming and got excited. Now when this originally happened, I didn't think I'd get too much into the fandom. But then COVID happened, and suddenly I was working from home, and most of my pastimes were now a no-go due to things being on lockdown. Because of that, and because of the stress of this sudden change, as well as (unfounded) concerns about my job, I began to immerse myself into Hamefura. It was a major reason I got through the pandemic sane, and seeing new episodes on Saturdays was a highlight of the week for me.
Then one day, I began thinking of potential fanfics to write. Now that I suddenly had time, I decided to jump in and write. I started off with That Night In A Safe Haven, which turned out well. Afterwards I then did Six Interesting But Ordinary Weeks, which people seemed to like but now I can't stand. I read that and cringe. But I kept it up because it's a reminder of how much I improved.
Then I came up with the idea for Fight Like A Lady, which I consider to be my first true "hit" fic. And then things went from there and I kept writing. I had the time, and I had ideas, and also a sounding board in the r/otomegame Discord, so I kept writing.
I've gone places I never imagined with my writing. I saw fics which got their own entry on TVTropes, but never in my wildest dreams did I ever think something I wrote would make it. Then I wrote Catarina Claes MUST DIE, and at the conclusion, someone found it worthy enough of warranting a TVTropes page. I was honored. And moved. I actually got emotional from it. I told my best friend that I think I now know what it feels like when a baseball player gets the call that they've been elected to the Hall of Fame.
And so I continued to write, and things went on. But then the pandemic lockdown began to let up, and I slowly began to do more of what I'd used to do. In July of last year, I went back into the office and began working from there instead of my home. And then this past winter and spring, I worked a ton of overtime. Suddenly, the time I had to write was shrinking, and unlike when I first began, I started to be somewhat annoyed at writing because it was taking time away from my preferred pastimes. But I still had ideas and wanted to write them.
Eventually, I began my most recent (and as of now my last) fic, My Next Life As A Planeswalker: All Routes Lead To The Multiverse. And I found while writing it that my interest in the Hamefura fandom was not what it once was. I went through and finished the story, but at the end of it, I knew I needed a break. Unfortunately, that break will be permanent now. Simply put, I've got a lot of other things I want to do, and with work, my interests, and the like, I just don't have the time to really dedicate myself to fic writing.
If you're disappointed, I understand. I totally get it. But I wanted to be upfront and let everyone know what I've decided. If things change, or I get the itch to write again, I might jump back into it. But as of now, I don't think I'll ever get back into it.
I want to thank everyone that's read my stories, left kudos on AO3, and commented on them. Your comments, praise, and criticism were what fueled me, and I can't thank you enough for them. Its your noticing my stories that made this such a rewarding experience.
Thanks for taking the time to read this as well. I'm glad to have gone through this and learned things about myself, but I feel it's time to move on, and again, I'd rather let you all know what's happening.
Until next time.
