Why I think first looks are the key to a stress-free wedding!

In my personal opinion, I LOVE the first look. I wish I had done it for my own wedding in 2016! First looks are more fun and intimate way of seeing each other one last time before becoming one. It’s just you two at this moment, no one else. I direct you, then sit back and capture the moments your groom sees you for the first time. Doing the first look also gives you a little break from all the hustle and bustle to soak at the moment with your groom and calm each other’s nerves down from all the excitement from the day.

The first look is usually chosen by brides who want to enjoy their cocktail hour. So we do the first look for 15 minutes, then bring out the bridal party and get all of their images done and out of the way before everyone gets all loopy from the juice ;)

Above all reasons why I recommend a first look is because there’s absolutely no rushing at all. I sit down with my brides and create a timeline and go over everything they want to be captured and what they want to do. You want to enjoy your cocktail hour but also want a ton of portraits with and without your bridal party? No problem! You see because you’re opting for the first look, you then don’t have that small window of time (cocktail hour) to get ALL of those portraits you want to be done. We can schedule to arrive at the church or venue an hour and a half before ceremony to get all of your portraits out of the way, so that after your I do’s you come with me for a few snapshots, then go enjoy your cocktail hour with your guests so you’re not stuck walking around all evening greeting and thanking everyone. You can rest at ease that you’ll be able to enjoy your wedding from start to finish...and get to eat all of those fancy & delicious hors d’ oeuvres ;)

Your wedding photographer is THE most important and most personable vendor you’ll hire on your wedding day. Here’s why!

I’m going to be a little blunt here... but I am floored when brides come to me as the last vendor they need on their checklist with the smallest budget left. You spend thousands on your wedding day, and at the end of the day when it’s all over, what do you have left? Other than carts full of centerpieces, your images from your photographer are all you have left from your wedding day. It is THE ONE thing that you will have forever, your wedding memories, frozen in time. Now, when you take that information into consideration, don’t you think you should budget more for your memories and amazing portraits? If you disagree with me, then, to put it bluntly again, you’re wrong. Sorry, not sorry. Sure, you could just have your wedding guests take pictures with their 12mp camera vs my 45mp camera...and lets not even discuss the horrible blinding flash from a cell phone lol....OR you could hire that one person that’s new at photography and charging super cheap just to get experience. But do you really want to trust someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing to capture the only memories you’ll have left from the best day of your life?... Probably not. So now that we got that ONE topic out of the way, let's move onto the fact that your photographer is the one that’s with you from the moment of you getting ready, to your send-off at the end of the night. We see you the most. During the 8 hour wedding, as well as 30 hours in post-production and editing. You need to make sure that you find and invest in a photographer that speaks to you, someone that you just click with like they’re you’re best friend. I’m not sure how other photographers run their business, but I’m not only there for my brides on their wedding day. I’m there for the engagement, helping of the timeline, guidance on the best times to choose when to walk down the aisle (this will be another post because that’s a topic of discussion in itself lol) to even after the wedding. My services don’t stop at weddings. I’m literally your forever photographer. Newborns, cake smash and studio portraits, Christmas and family portraits, hey...even if you want you to spice up your relationship for an anniversary and want to get fancy with boudoir. I do that too! I take pride in the fact that I can be there for my clients from the start of their lives and watch their families grow.
