Nationalspieler Oleksandr Zinchenko ist vor dem Spiel von Manchester City beim FC Everton sichtlich übermannt, von der Zuneigung der Fans. Aber auch überfordert von den Gedanken an den Krieg in seiner Heimat. Bewegende Bilder in erschütternden Zeiten: Der ukrainische Fußballer Oleksandr Zinchenko kämpft vor dem Anpfiff der Premier-League-Begegnung seiner Citizens aus Manchester beim FC Everton mit den Tränen. Überwältigt von der Solidarität der Fans beider Lager mit der Ukraine, die sich seit dem frühen Donnerstagmorgen tapfer gegen die russische Invasion des Aggressors Wladimir Putin wehrt. Aber auch überfordert von den Gedanken an den Krieg in seiner Heimat. Viele Zuschauer hatten Transparente und Schilder mit ins Stadion Goodison Park mitgebracht, auf denen sie ihre Solidarität mit der Heimat von Zinchenko erklärten. Die Spieler von Man City trugen beim Warmmachen zudem T-Shirts mit der Ukraine-Flagge und der Aufschrift "Kein Krieg". Auf Fernsehbildern war zu sehen, wie der 25-jährige Zinchenko mit den Tränen kämpfte, während über die Lautsprecher des Stadions das Lied "He ain't heavy, he's my brother" von der Gruppe The Hollies gespielt wurde. Eine der Zeilen in der Ballade von 1969 lautet: "His welfare is my concern, no burden is he to bear" (sein Wohlergehen ist mir wichtig, er soll keine Last tragen). Auch Evertons Spieler Vitali Mykolenko war sichtlich bewegt. Mit einer innigen Umarmung auf dem Platz sorgten die Nationalspieler für einen Gänsehaut-Moment im Stadion - und den sozialen Netzwerken. Eine Szene, die nicht nur England emotional sehr bewegt. Zinchenko gehört zu den lautesten und vehementesten Kritikern aus dem Fußball an der russischen Invasion: In den vergangenen Tagen hatte er seiner Wut und Verzweiflung in den sozialen Medien freien Lauf gelassen. "Mein Land gehört den Ukrainern und niemand wird es sich jemals aneignen können", schrieb der 25-Jährige unter anderem auf Instagram. "Die ganze zivilisierte Welt ist besorgt über die Situation in meinem Land. Das Land, in dem ich geboren und aufgewachsen bin und dessen Farben ich in den internationalen Sportarenen verteidige. Das Land, das wir versuchen zu verherrlichen und zu entwickeln. Ein Land, dessen Grenzen intakt bleiben müssen." Für besondere Aufmerksamkeit hatte allerdings ein Posting gesorgt, in dem Russlands Präsidenten Putin "den schmerzhaftesten Tod", wünschte. Er nannte den 69-Jährige eine " widerliche Kreatur!" Zinchenko steht seit 2016 bei Man City unter Vertrag, zuvor spielte er für den russischen Klub FK Ufa. Eher unwichtig: Das Spiel beim FC Everton endete 1:0 für die Citizens, Phil Foden traf in der 82. Minute.
