You wake up, looking up at a tall ceiling that makes you feel like you’ll fall if you stare at it long enough. But you don’t.. because instead you realize you aren’t the only one there.

You sit up on a creaky bed, nothing but a mattress there. The room has scratched out stickers of cartoon characters on the walls, and above your bed and the bed next to you are large crosses. You look to the identical bed at the other person. She looks older than you by a lot.. probably around 15.

She has a lantern next to her and she just stares at it, it looks like she’s nodding her head to music. But you can’t hear it yourself. She notices you staring and turns to look at you.

Lydia: Finally you’re awake. I lowkey thought you were dead. You’ve been asleep for like a month.. Uh, I’m Lydia David. I’m like 15 and use she/bite.. how about you?

You shyly introduce yourself, quickly then asking where you both were..

Lydia: The Hospital dimension.. well.. the back of it. It goes back pretty far. Did they trap you here too?

You don’t respond, unsure of what to say.

Lydia: It’s okay, you don’t have to say much. We have to go anyways. It’s prayer time.

Lydia gets up and offers one of her three hands, you hesitate. She doesn’t mind and just begins to walk out the door, the wooden door creaks open and she walks down a dusty hallway with her heavy boots. You follow shortly behind.

Divine images were taken from their shrines each day and washed, dressed in clean clothes, adorned with precious ornaments and censed. They were given offerings of food and drink — usually wine, milk or water — and then returned to their shrines.
