how dare you make a megamind sequel first of all

i’m genuinely of the belief that the megamind sequel/tv show was meant to premiere on nickelodeon in like 2011 alongside their other spinoff shows, but then got shelved after the movie flopped financially and has been sitting around in some archive gathering dust until peacock decided to release it as “new content.”
like, can we just look at the visual evidence alone?

For 12 days of megamind, prompt "doom syndicate", I'd like to scream from the rooftops to so-called Megamind fans that THE DOOM SYNDICATE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A THING. MEGAMIND'S "OLD CREW" HAS ALWAYS BEEN A CONCEPT. Here they are in the video game, in concept art, and in old storyboards!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is INCORRECT to say that Megamind having old "friends" is against his character. Again I quote, "you all are confusing fannon Megs with cannon Megs".

It's JUST AROUND THE CORNER, GUYS!
FRIDAY, MARCH 1ST! AKA TOMORROW!!! We are getting a new film, (MEGAMIND VS THE DOOM SYNDICATE) and series (MEGAMIND RULES!)
Prepare yourself and WATCH AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!! The sooner you watch, the better! We want that view count as high as it can get, ASAP! It will ensure that we get more Megamind content, and likely with a higher budget! It shows DreamWorks that THIS IS WORTH PUTTING MONEY INTO!
If you're a Megamind fan, DO YOUR DUTY! SUPPORT THE NEW FILM AND SERIES, WHETHER YOU LIKE THE LOOK OF IT OR NOT!
(Rewatches also help!)
P.S. If Negative Nancies respond to this post, they will be IMMEDIATELY BLOCKED! I will not tolerate naysaying any longer! I am very happy and excited about this and I don't need you guys to try and bring me down!

I see a lot of of awesome Megamind fanart that I'd LOVE to reblog...
and then I see negativity about Megamind Rules and Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate. I want to engage and share the work, but I can't encourage that kind of negativity. >:/
"There is no Megamind 2! >:<" You're right, DINGUS, because it's never been CALLED Megamind 2! All the haters call it Megamind 2!!
Also, you're not the targeted audience! Let people enjoy things! I guarantee your life would be much happier if you engaged in things you enjoyed instead of ripping on things you hate all the time.

With Indie Animation Day just having passed and a really meh-looking Megamind sequel on the horizon, I'd like to gently remind people of the power of ignorance.
(TL;DR in blue) Your attention is valuable. Like it or not, your attention alone is worth money. When you give a show or project your attention, you are supporting it. So if you're as disgruntled as I am knowing another amazing movie's timeline is about to be tarnished with a lazy sequel, please for the love of god, ignore it.
"Don't feed the troll" "They just want attention, ignore them." these are tales as old as time... But what we're dealing with in entertainment and animation today is much more insidious than attention-seeking randos online. We're dealing with attention-seeking multi-billion dollar companies.
We are living in the age of soulless nostalgia-bait and purposefully-infuriating content. They are putting this content out because it is MAKING THEM MONEY, and it is making them money because we are giving them attention! The most POWERFUL WEAPON you have to wield against them right now is your ignorance.
I know it's infuriating. I know. But the fact is: Just like a troll, every interaction you give this media feeds it, good or bad. Especially bad.
Talking about this movie is spreading the word for them. Posting about them gives them free advertising. Watching people review and dunk on them will push more people to review and talk about it. Even if you go online and say, "I hate this movie, it's gonna suck." that is STILL advertising for them!
Hate-watching is worth the same amount of money as love-watching. Remember what hate-watching did for projects like Velma?
Tumblr media
Don't let this new Megamind sequel or any dead-horse-beating project succeed financially just because we were too angry to stop talking about it. DON'T reward them for their half-assed cash-grabs with your ire. They don't deserve your fury.
I beg of you, don't hate-watch it when it comes out. Don't post about them. Don't take to Twitter and Tumblr flooding the #notmymegamind tag. Don't do their dirty work for them. Don't allow them rent-free space on your page or in your mind. Don't give this project the time of day. Ignore it. There is power in your ignorance, just as there is in your attention.
Give your attention to one of these independent animators instead. The media giants don't need it.
If we can all band together and ignore the media we don't like, they will no longer be profitable or a safe investment and they will eventually stop. But we have to agree to ignore it together.

I got two unpopular opinions about the Megamind Peacock thing.
1) It's overhated because DreamWorks for some reason insisted on calling it a sequel, when it's pretty obviously meant to more be a pilot special for the Megamind TV show. From what I've seen, it's nothing GREAT, but it doesn't really seem worth hating and is only really seen as that bad because they chose to call it a sequel for some weird reason. (To generate hype? I don't know)
2) Megamind's design is FINE enough in it. Like, I see so many people complain about how he looks but....it's the same one as the movies. It's just less detailed because of lower animation.

Megamind vs the doom syndicate was wild - and thoughts on the 1st episode
... Every time the Syndicate said "phase two":
Tumblr media
Seriously if you love puns. If you keep an open mind, it's cheesy and good.
Negatives...and workarounds...
it's two days post movie but Megamind swapped his flip phone for a smart phone...Maybe there was a time skip in the movie between the final battle and the new Megamind statue at the museum. I'll buy that.
Chum ! Cute nickname! I personally thought that he'd go over to the Doom Syndicate...but donut king Chum is hilarious. Megamind literally letting Chum go without a fight feels weird, but...plot? Mimicking Lone Heroes? We could get at least 3 efanfics out of that.
The whole ... megamind doesn't understand the Internet. Well. He is in prison most of the time. Minion seems to be the one talking with people and buying the equipment. Though maybe he's more a forum guy than a social media guy. Look at us. We're on Tumblr. (I certainly don't know how to format an Instagram post.)
Literally the concept of the first movie broke superhero tropes. We are still in that wheelhouse, just instead of a flying brick protagonist we have comedy gadget protagonist.
Positives:
Literally just below Camp Cretaceous in quality. (Subjective). Lands comedy and puns and laying out morals very well. It's energetic and feels sincere at points.
Nighty-Knights dialogue killed me. The syndicate each has a legit threat and a joke tied with them! Fingers crossed we get more information about Gale and Roxanne's past in the news business!
Keiko is basically an April O'Neil and Casey Jones child. (Compliment) Fascinated with news and getting the world out. Not afraid to use a baseball bat. I can't wait to see more backstory.
...Mayor Roxanne is a surprise. I like it! An excuse for her to get all the Villain news? A way to bring up tasks for the heroes to do? A hyper competent assistant that argues with Megamind? I'm in!
Anyway. I will enjoy the rest of the show!
