Since a new Helluva Boss episode just dropped, and I’m kinda obsessed with the show, here’s my contribution to the fandom
It’s basically a comparison of episode outros, just because. I like them, okay?
In pilot, the outro is just raw panels for “Oh Millie” and it’s oh so adorable
Then, episode one has the very upbeat instrumental rendition of the song that gets us started on this episode. And it fits so well, because if someone started watching from episode one, skipping the pilot (Guilty!) then the record time in which the upbeatness at the beginning turns into the show typical violence is astonishing
Episode 2! keeping up with the upbeatness. This time it’s an instrumental rendition of “Loo Loo Land” so still pertaining to the episode, and giving off the happy-go-lucky vibe of the show
Episode 3 we start to see a pattern, because it’s once again a song we hear in the episode, this time with Blitz-o singing, again upbeat, tricking us into thinking this is just an unproblematic fun with occasional swear words
Episode 4 we get bact to the instrumentals, and it’s the C.H.E.R.U.B. jingle
Episode 5 with striker took a darker turn, but the outro is almost chill, it’s the “Sweet Victory” that is introduced by something I at first thought was people just screaming in anguish, but can probably just be crowd cheering for striker
Episode 6 gives us outro guitars, which we hear at various points during the episode, but we steadily keep getting darker with the credit music while maintaining an air of upbeatness
And then we have the Season Finale... And oh boy... That was the most emotionally packed episode ever... The outro is so hauntingly beautiful, calming, and sad. I don’t think we hear this motif during the episode at all, but the transition from Blitz looking through the photos on his phone, to this melody... it sets the tone for the future of the show. We exit the unproblematic and joyful area and dive deep into the trauma ridden backstory time. What a way to finish the season...
First episode of season 2 wraps up with Stolas’ song that then continues with a similar, but slightly happier motif to the one from the season finale. Sure, the episode held trauma for both Blitz and Stolas, but it also depicted them together, so they are not alone. From this point the songs tend to be more symbolic than before, they carry on with the message of the episode, and the feelings we are supposed to associate with all that we just saw.
For episode 2 of the second season we get back on track with ending the episode with a song from the episode, and it’s the Millie and Moxxie duet
After that, episode 3 ends with Chaz’s song, so we keep it going
But today’s episode... It once again ends with the same theme as the season finale, which in my opinion signifies the importance of the episode in understanding Blitz’s and Stolas’ relationship. The three episodes are the ones that give us the most insight into their past and the way they perceive their relationships. While the other episodes also give us snippets, those are the main 3, and the outro music clearly states it
Smile into air
It's wonderful, what you've given me
Would like to see the world again, as I've never seen
But how can I rid this sorrow away, that lingers inside of me
And how can I live up to the life you gave, when you saved me from the dark
Bright stars to see
How beautiful, all you've given me
Once more I feel, more than I've ever felt before
But how can this be the way it's to be, even when I'm here to see
And how can this all be how it's meant to be, but I'll carry on
I promise you
Hello, to life, to everything (to everything)
There is so much yet to see, and more to be (and more to be)
I have you in my heart, in every breath I take
Now it's up to me to be who I am
Once more I am, because of you (because of you)
You have given me a way to carry on (to carry on)
Cherry of my life, commence the moment you led me to that someone
The one
The one
Time does move on, no matter how, or no matter who
Still, from the light, a new beginnings had begin with you
I fell asleep that night woke to you, standing in front of me
It was as a new path right out of a dreams, just to rescue me
I dreamed to be
With you, from now, through everything (through everything)
I can see a whole new world, with you beside (with you beside)
I was lost so long, didn't know the right from wrong
Now it's crystal clear who I wish to be
I won't pretend you feel the same (you feel the same)
For as long as I'm with you, I'm satisfied (I'm satisfied)
Nothing I won't do, to save you when you need me to
When you need me to
How can we save all we hold so dear, when it's one or the other
How if only other choices were to make, but we need to
For better times
Hello, to life, to everything (to everything)
There is so much yet to see, and more to be (and more to be)
I have you in my heart, in every breath I take
Now it's up to me to be who I am
Thank you, to all, to everyone (to everyone)
For the time you shared with us, through all the years (through all the years)
Cherry of my life, impossible if not for you, not for you, ei you
(hello, to life, to everything) ei you
(with you, from now, through everything)
(hello, to life, to everything)
(I won't pretend you feel the same)
a redraw of my old sentimental Technoblade art from last year. rest well, king.
close ups below
the sentimental Techno art is one of, if not my absolute favorite drawing of him. i started the redraw a few days after the news of his passing. it's taken me a while, but i finally finished it
alternate version with a sword. i didn't like how the sword turned out (and i will lose my mind if i have to work on it more), but i'm posting it here anyway because i'm too attached to the idea of it
