I wonder how many "dog people" like dogs because it's actually fully normalized to emotionally/verbally and/or physically abuse/neglect them and they can't talk back like human children.

#animal abuse tw #dogs tw #the parents are huge dog people but #our dog literally developed an anxiety (and probably traumatic) disorder due to the way they treated him #and it wasnt until his passing last year when they all made demeaning jokes about him on his goddamn deathbed abt how inconveniencing he was #for having to be taken care of and for acting out bc they werent giving him anything to enrich him or his life that i really looked back on #the way he got treated and everything and realized how horrorific it actually was and like the thing is #theyre literally better than a lot of people bc they at least realize that 'outside dogs' = abuse and that theyre not toys #didnt stop them from being abusive as all shit but it just. makes me so fucking sad. how engrained mistreatment is in dog culture #the obsession on how unconditionally dogs love you no matter what you do and how obedient they are is honestly terrifying and disgusting #(this isnt to say that training dogs is bad ofc just. dogs are living beings. dont expect them to be perfect angels. dont punish them for #being an inconvenience lmao)
