Song Review: Eric Krasno and Otis McDonald - “Sugar Magnolia”
The interesting thing about Eric Krasno and Otis McDonald’s cover of “Sugar Magnolia” is how the pair stick so close to the Grateful Dead’s American Beauty version, yet stray so far.
The result is like a musical Rubik’s Cube - easy to be enamored with but nearly impossible to determine what, exactly, is the allure.
The departures are subtle: slight twists on the melody, rhythm and background vocals; sneaky aural allusions to the Allman Brothers Band; and a slickness the Dead typically eschewed.
All of the which render Krasno and McDonald’s “Sugar Magnolia” a track that’s difficult to crack - part remake, part reinterpretation and neither of the preceding.

New Haven victims if they were regular people in another universe
Frank Vogel- He's obviously in the Military or he could be working as a Coast Guard.
Harriet Patrick- just an average high schooler in Ireland who lives in her family's huge cow farm. And she's also an equestrian as well and Daisy is still her favorite cow of course. Very friendly and quite popular as well.
Otis Kidd- still a firefighter or i think he'll just flip some burgers at McDonald's. There's no in between.
Rowdy Rick- just some average gangsta in Atlanta. Kidding. I feel like he'll also join in the US army or maybe he'll be an MMA fighter.
Maximilian Poe- a self-made multi-millionaire dude who's worth a million dollars. He also works on a real estate and he's happily married to Valeria and they have 4 children as well. And he's a great dad too.
Father Donovan- Still a regular priest who's actually a very, very nice guy and he respects everyone as well. He respects them no matter what their beliefs are. Or if he's not a priest, he'll be that one college professor who teaches philosophy and he's a cool, funny, and a very chill guy as well.

Formed during pandemic quarantine times and relying exclusively on remote recordings, King Canyon will release its self-titled debut Dec. 2.
Not to be confused with the Australian band of the same name, the American King Canyon consists of guitarist Eric Krasno, bassist Mike Chiavaro and producer/multi-instrumentalist Otis McDonald.
Lead singles “Keep on Movin’” and “Mullholland” - the latter featuring an underutilized Derek Trucks - find the band whisking up a blend of light soul and Laurel Canyon-inspired pop.

Instrumental save for wordless harmonizing and wispy lines based around their respective titles, “Keep on Movin’” and “Mullholland” are like never-completed ideas; lush demos. They’re also artificial sounding, likely owing to the long-distance nature of their collaboration and elaborate production values.

hallo! i have a few for him yes! they're pretty simple but headcanons nonetheless :)
funny thing: two years ago i used to despise the bloody painter for no reason (he literally just gave me the ick) and now he's one of my favourite characters—BUT ANYWAY
HELEN OTIS
"I only paint with blood."
He/Him, Asexual Male
24 years old, October 1st
He's transgender!
His parents dressed him up in pretty dresses and did his hair. Mom taught him how to do traditionally feminine things like cooking and cleaning. All they ever wanted was a daughter, but Helen wasn't a girl.
It wasn't until he turned 12 that his parents were more lenient with him. They stopped sheltering him, decided it'd be good if he interacted with other kids. But Helen, having been isolated for so long, didn't know how to socialise with others.
Diagnosed with autism at 15 (wow common trend with my headcanons, huh). He speaks in a flat tone, has a difficult time expressing his emotions and he's rather bad at taking and making jokes.
He rarely paid attention in school. Most of the time, he'd be drawing over his worksheets. And when he didn't have any paper, he'd draw on the desk. The boy always seemed to have a pencil on him.
Has some compulsive behaviour. He does things in sets of two (his favourite number). For example: when he opens the fridge, he'll open it once, then close it, then open it again.
Engaged to Dina. They met at 20. Helen was a bit... manipulative with her at first. Not even a bit. He was manipulative. He abused her angelic abilities, not understanding how much it exhausted her. Dina, who's never been in love before him, was attached to Helen. It was her kindness and patience that helped Helen change and grow.
During his time on probation, he worked a bunch of jobs. He was a barista, a child's entertainer, a McDonald's worker, a waiter, a photographer, a tour guide—YOU COULD GO TO ANY FUCKING STORE AND YOU'D SEE THIS GUY.
The Puppeteer is his best-friend. Lucy and Sadie are Dina and Helen's "adopted" children.
Helen loves Wonton Soup, blood/gore, organisation and chess.
Is always seconds away from getting caught because he spends so much time making sure the crime scene is a beautiful masterpiece.
This motherfucker is the driest motherfucker on the planet. He replies to most things with one word. "Ok." "No." "Yes." "Hello."
But he's actually a pretty bubbly and cheerful guy. He enjoys going out to places and hanging out with his friends. His mask makes it look like he's smiling which is nice because Helen doesn't like his real smile (it looks more like a grimace than a smile).
alsooo helen was incarcerated/hospitalised from 15-18 and then put on probation for two years. he basically manipulated the workers into thinking he's getting better when actually he's getting WORSE. so that's fun.
