What do you think about anti accounts saying they run those blogs to protect queer youth from engaging with conspiracy theories?

lol i think it’s usually bullshit. i mean, listen. i totally understand and relate to feeling frustrated when people insist something that goes against objective reality is true? like i get it. i think it’s a normal human emotion to be like, “this theory that this thing taylor swift did is related to karlie kloss” isn’t true... but i definitely don’t believe for a second that most anti blogs actually care about young gay kids or conspiratorial thinking. if it’s a blog that’s main purpose is to debunk and deconstruct actual conspiracy shit like what ttb, for example, says then i think that’s fair enough but running a blog dunking on anyone who thinks taylor isn’t straight or thinks maybe she has had some relationships with women or interprets her songs through a gay lens or engages with celebrity gossip or jokes about there being “no heterosexual explanation” (and other similar memes and phrases etc) isn’t protecting anyone from anything. it’s them being personally annoyed with people saying their fave white millionaire is gay or writes gay music or whatever the fuck and using that as a moral high ground instead of just being like lol yeah i run a snark blog. i’m very pro dismantling conspiratorial thinking even on smaller scales because like.. look at what the USA has become over the past few years. i was just discussing with people how fringe conspiracies on the right are becoming more and more mainstream to a worrying extent. however, in my experience, the VAST and overwhelming majority of “gaylors” are gay kids and young adults just engaging with taylors music and public image in a way that makes sense to them and having fun with it (ie: joking around, being lighthearted) OR people who just enjoy celeb gossip of all kinds or both. like larry is a full blown conspiracy, right? it’s even more elaborate and advanced and harmful than late stage kaylor but from what i’ve noticed, larry antis engage in directly arguing with and debunking posts made by larries spreading harmful and illogical thought patterns. kaylor antis or gaylor antis tend to circle jerk over misconstruing or blowing out of proportion things that “gaylors are saying.” by all means, dunk on conspiracies and stupid shit and illogical stuff all you want but be honest that “late stage kaylor” is a tiny portion of the fandom and people who believe in the babygate and bearding contracts are an even tinier number. maybe spend time dismantling and debunking actual harmful conspiracy theories or idk engaging with content you enjoy. just make a swiftie blog instead of thinking you’re doing a service to humanity and the gay community by proving every song taylor writes is about joe alwyn and she’s never had a gay thought in her life. like. who the fuck cares? we don’t know the girl or what goes on in her personal life and that’s fine. media literacy and dismantling conspiratorial thinking are very important but do y’all think the 40 kaylor conspiracy theorists are reading your blogs like “oh so insightful!” no?

#btw some snark blogs on here i truly stan #but a lot are just mean spirited and hate seeing their fave get called gay even as a joke

no worries, love! i think i've really only had one other ask on this (here) but it was more about why post-1d hiatus i still fully believe they're together! i also give some backstory on my time in the fanbase in the og days + coming back, so if you'd like to know anything on that i'd check that out too (and i give some examples of some post-hiatus moments that helped convince me, too!)

in general though....i think really it's a summation of everything from goings-on directly involving them and them alone (ie body language one on one, all those LOOKS, the gentle bickering and bantering and standing up for one another when being teased by the others, the two of them interacting together versus with the other 1d boys and even people we see them with now like harry with mitch or louis with his....lads pack? idk what we call them, lmao, but like ollie, stan at one point in time, calvin, luke (i'm not calling him hot luke ok i have seen much hotter men noah fence!!)...yeah, that crowd) to more external forces from coding/symbolism (the traveling fish and eroda and what we could have had with that!!, H shirt from december stream, the LT rubik's cube pre-harry shows, playing louis' songs at the fine line listening preparty, L's cover choices, uhh THE BEARS??) song lyrics (princess park? amsterdam without you? someday you'll be open? including lyric changes—since we were 18 (16!), i'm in love with lou, can't compete with my boyfriend, they're still together) and certain performances both in and out of 1d (b stage, anyone? 'i fell in love to this song'?, harry stops singing when it gets to louis' part of x song every time??, the 1d songs both pick to perform on their own?), implications from other band members (mostly back in the day though, idg why people insist on trying to ask any of them now, like obviously they're going to ignore it or say no??), and maybe most noticeably but in the worst way, the way their management decided to market them (posh harry and underdog louis) early on aided by stunting (harry's supposed womanizing with fans and randos to whichever celeb woman can benefit from hanging off his arm like.....you know who rn, me girlfriend eleanor 1.0 and 2.0, the ultimately very transparently fake but also very conspiratorial sounding babygate) thus pushing them further apart as time passed because they had to fit those molds, those alternate narratives, because teen girl doesn't want gay boy! let alone two gay boy! worst of all, two gay boy together! ew! no money for us because of the queers!!

(although we did get some larents renaissance moments over the years that very much so deserve more attention and recognition! and don't say they never fought their public images and stunts then or now!)

there's just so much, i feel with each passing year there needs to be a big collective roundup for what happened (actually happened, with certain receipts taken with a grain of salt unless hard evidence given, and not bringing back shit that's been debunked a hundred times to either negate HL or try to give it more reasoning post-hiatus) especially because back in the day, it was easier to be a larrie only by way of maybe becoming one, because they were always right there in front of you. now, unless you've been around or at least are aware of why 'larry' was/is a thing, or you do a big dig/catch up/research post-hiatus, being a larrie in this day and age can potentially have you come off as a bit of a conspiracy theorist....and more so than before, because we're not openly seeing them interact with one another.

(BUT, to be fair, the ones to blame for blacklisting and bullying of larries and all that bullshit is 1DHQ, and their legacy in that department has only been carried on and possibly further exacerbated by HSHQ 🙃🔪)

so tldr; it's everything wrapped up together, and that's how it was even early on for me. each additional thing that happens just further cements what i've seen, heard, and ultimately feel. there's not a doubt in my mind that those two are still together and happily in love, even if we don't see them standing side by side most nights like we used to, or interacting visibly on social media or in big hangouts where they can be spotted together, or with stupid and predictable stunts they give a half-effort to, still going on.

I just wish Louis didn't say that he never saw the bear, when he definitely has. Because now Larries are going to say he is lying (which he could be).

Anon, I'm glad you said this because I'm going to use it as a soapbox for something related I wanted to say!

What exactly Louis said when denying RBB doesn't matter. It doesn't matter whether he doesn't remember having seen RBB or if he overreached when he said he hadn't seen RBB. This is not about convincing Larries to stop conspiracy theorizing with a denial of their beliefs. You can't reason with conspiracy theorists. You can't stop them.

What this is all doing is forcing the larries to call Louis a liar, over and over and over again. Remember that the larrie view of louis is heavily based on the idea of his integrity as a proud gay man who has been actively fighting his closet. They have heavily invested time and effort into showing that Louis has previously AVOIDED answering questions like these so that he would not have to lie. They go on at length about him refusing to bring larrie or rbb up during the Four hangout as evidence that he did not want to be faced with having to make a denial.

They have argued in the past week alone that the larry denial in The Sun was a one-off, poorly executed, that he phoned it in or had one last obligation to say something that would only be in print and thus carried no weight. They have analyzed his body language and scoured his facial expression and eyeline to prove that he's incredibly uncomfortable and unwilling to engage in this dishonesty, that he's screaming to them in other ways to not believe him and to listen to his other signs and signals instead.

Yet he's continued to lie, according to their beliefs. Boldly, openly. He's telling anecdotes about his son and dedicating the journey of the past three years of his life to the eventual reunion with Eleanor. He's comfortable, he's witty, he's relaxed, he's ON CAMERA, as he shoots down Larrie beliefs again and again and again. He's a sock wearer, now, he proclaims, thus dooming his triangle tattoo to a prison when Larries claimed it was one of his most prominent signs of his struggle for freedom.

So now they're reblogging his quotes with tags like "lol i love lies" and posting images of him looking in the direction of where the bears were staged to undermine him. Which is fine, let them have at it, because what does it mean? At best, larries can say that louis has gotten BETTER at lying, but why would he, if he's this close to blowing it all open? How long will they be able to claim that he's forced to lie this extensively, and for whom - especially when he's on US soil the next time he breaks down more larrie lore.

I don't know if they'll ever go away, and I don't know how they'll reconcile this all - I'm sure the lab rats are working on it as we speak - but the larries will really have to re-evaluate how they present their version of Louis in the future because the idea that he's a trapped scared waif lashing out by giving the finger to a woman that EVEN COUSIN ASHLEY is saying Briana is getting along with, while becoming an unrepetent master twister of the truth, does not point to an imminent coming out or end of babygate [sic].

That and the fact that they have to accept they will probably never be able to fully enjoy his appearances again unless he... like... doesn't talk. And we know that larries don't need Louis in order to tinhat, but to have to so blatantly ignore the fact that he's active and present and speaking entirely will definitely get under some larries' skin. It's one thing to do it when he's absent; this is another matter entirely.

And larries HATE and refuse to consider seriously the idea that Louis could choose to remain in the closet. As of this week, people are still being shunned and abused out of fandom for suggesting that Louis might be okay with that. So the main body of larries is getting smaller and more and more radicalized.

So in my view, that's what all of this is about. That's what these shots fired are accomplishing.

It's like they expected the entire entertainment world to stop in its tracks three weeks prior to release to dedicate themselves to louis. Which is a nice thought, but unrealistic. Harry had some immediate buzz, but he'd had buzz all along and was already on billboard/hdd/rolling stonws radar. That's just how it is sometimes. Louis wasn't treated any differently than any musician that far in advance. Larries just don't grasp that the world doesn't revolve around him, as much as we'd like it to!

Well, since you bring up Harry, I think it’s worth noting that all of the conspiracy theorists - the ones who believe larry are still together, the ones on the fence, and the ones who hate harry and believe they’ve split up – all of them are still suffering for buying into the larrie worldview that Louis and Harry were always meant to be viewed as equals in the industry, as partners.

This was a fundamental bedrock to the whole “power couple” idea, the idea that babygate [sic] was meant to raise louis’ profile in the public eye so that he would be recognized by face instead of as “harry’s boyfriend,” (btw they still try to argue that) and even the insistence that Harry didn’t want to go solo or become a movie star (because Louis had not achieved those things). Yes, they SAID that they believed those were Louis’ dreams and that Louis needed to achieve those things, but deep down in the misogynistic asshole cockles of their hearts they knew/know that if Harry went solo their larrie dreams would perish on his stage.

Even if they no longer believe it, they’re stuck in the mindset that Azoff(s) were supposed to elevate both men to be admired by the public, as a team, because they misread the situation entirely due to their tinhatting. So now, they cry that Louis deserves this and that when they go so far as to undermine what Louis said about his own feelings about his place in the band and his solo ambitions - they stray so far from what they assumed he and Harry were pursuing, and what Harry said about his own aspirations that they must.

And I’ll remind you, anon, that Larries were ALSO complaining about Harry’s promo in the lead-up to his solo launch, even if it was tinged with hostility that there was buzz about him before he’d even announced or performed anything. So, let them stew. It’s funny to watch them circle the drain, but next time, I’ll just be streaming and trending #backtoyou while making popcorn.
