HP Rec Fest @hprecfest some love for my OTP Romione ❤️❤️

Day 13: A Fic with over 100k words

[Romione [ M ] Ron/Hermione [ Roughly 145,059 words 🤯 37 chapters 😳]

Genre: Royal AU

Summary: Ron's spent the last four years in America, away from his country and the responsibilities it holds. He's the sixth son of a king, though that's a well-kept secret. He hasn't even told his best friend—the one he's secretly in love with—that he's a prince. What happens when she learns of his true identity and the fact that he could be chosen to rule thanks to a magical crown that decides its country's next heir? Of course, she stands by his side, but in more ways than Ron ever imagined necessary. Now, he doesn't know how they'll manage to get through this without losing her when all is said and done.

Here are a couple reasons that I love this fic (even though I’m behind on chapters but shhh 🤫 the updates in my email for this fic wrecks havoc in my head, in a good way!):

1. Adenei (see all her work) is one of my favorite Romione writers and the characterizations are always so well written as well as the creativity in each of her works is just so indescribably beautiful. Plus, this won’t be the last time I rec @adenei for this HP Rec Fest (in general) so it’s best to go ahead and open another tab and explore the stories that she’s written, it’ll benefit your health tremendously 🥺🥺

2. Ron speaking Italian is a reason itself (Hermione agrees)

3. If you’re familiar with her work, then you’ll probably see the little hints of some of her previous works within the chapters. I find it clever that she does this throughout the chapters.

4. Spoiler: the CROWN 👑!!!!!! Oh my, I’ll tell you that this right here is the definition of creativity. I don’t know how to describe it without giving away spoilers 😩 but I just find it fascinating the entire plot that this story revolves around. It isn’t just about the crown (*cough* or miscommunication *cough*) it’s about being with the one you love and willing to fight for your own happiness. I can go on and on about this, but it would be best if you check it out yourself on A03

5. “Who the hell are you?"

Marcia bounced on their heels as Anetra walked off the track, a winning smirk on her face and her helmet tucked under her arm.

"Over here!" they called, waving their girlfriend down.

"So, what did you think of your first race?" Anetra asked, eyebrow raised. It was the first time Sasha and Marcia had seen Anetra race in person. There was a part of her that was nervous of their reaction, even though she'd swept the competition and took home a big golden trophy.

Sasha smiled softly, leaning over and kissing her cheek softly. "You did wonderful, darling, congratulations on your win."

"Thank you," Anetra replied with a flush, turning to Marcia.

"That was so cool! I thought watching would be scary but it was so fun! I want you to take me for a ride in your race car sometime!"

"What?!" Sasha peered at the blonde with surprise, "who the hell are you?! You want to go for a ride?"

"It looks fun!"

Anetra smirked. "Well, the track is open for practice after races but I think everyone else left tonight. Do you really want to?"

"Yeah, do you really want to?"

Marcia looked between Sasha and Anetra, arms crossed over their chest. "Yes."

"Alright, let's go then."

Sasha's protests fell upon deaf ears as Anetra led Marcia back, pulling one of her spare helmets over their head. She helped them into the passenger side of the car while Sasha watched from the sidelines, biting the inside of her cheek.

"Okay, seatbelt is on?"

"Check," Marcia replied with a thumbs up.

"Okay, hold on tight," Anetra warned, revving the engine.

She started off around the track slow for her, building speed as Marcia egged her on. After two laps around, Anetra got the car up to full speed. Like she was really racing, she got in the zone, only focusing on the sound of the engine and moving forward. She hadn't noticed Marcia squeezing their eyes shut and yelling for her to stop.

"Stop! Stop!" Marcia called out, holding onto the seat until their knuckles hurt, "stop! Please, stop!"

It wasn't until Marcia was crying that Anetra realized they were no longer egging her on to go faster, but was begging her to stop the car instead.

"Fuck," she muttered under her breath, easing off the gas, gently pumping the brakes as to make sure the car didn't come skidding to a hasty stop.

It felt like forever before the vehicle was at a stand still and Marcia was crying, fingers fumbling to undo their seatbelt.

"Fuck, Marc, I'm so sorry," Anetra soothed, doing it for them, quickly rushing to their door to help them out.

As soon as she opened the door, Marcia threw themself at her, sobbing into her neck. "Netra, I-I was s-so scared. I-I'm so-"

"Shhh,' she cooed, "don't be sorry. It's okay."

Anetra took her helmet off, Marcia's following. She felt her stomach turn when she saw how Marcia's mascara was smeared all down their red cheeks.

"Oh, baby."

As Anetra coddled Marcia, Sasha ran down from the stands, wearing a worried expression.

"Marcia, darling," she cooed softly, petting their hair as they sniffled.

"I don't think I'm going to be able to watch you race ever again," Marcia remarked, earning her giggles from the other girls.

"You can keep your eyes closed the entire time as long as you're cheering me on."

Still in their embrace, all three laughed. "You'll always be the winner to us," Sasha said cheekily, poking Anetra's side.

Anetra smiled and shook her head, endeared. "My good luck charms."

Daily Digest 5/1/23

It’s been quite a while since I’ve done one of these.

To be honest, it’s been quite a while since I’ve done any writing. I’ve recently figured out I can only split my focus on one Big Goal at a time and for the past year or so, that was my health.

Now that I’ve got that mostly under control I’m starting to shift back into writing mode.

And it feels 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥!

I got up this morning with the intention of heading to High Ground Coffee and spending three-ish hours writing with the OC Writers group, but mornings…

So I ended up getting there around 10:20 or so. I did get some words down and it felt weird and good trying to find that groove again.

But, it’s me and things never go as planned. I forgot to plug my computer in last night, so the battery was dead. And I don’t like actual writing with pen and paper because it’s slow and then I have to type everything over and it’s tedious and boring and I never do it. Pen and paper are for outlines and plotting.

But I did have my phone and of there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years it’s that I do my best work writing on my phone.

It’s weird. I went without a computer for over 3 years and during that time I wrote on my phone. I wrote at amusement parks, in line at the DMV, when traveling in planes, trains, and automobiles (but not while driving!).

I don’t know what it is about the tiny screen that lets the creativity flow, yet it does. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lately, when I would be working on the laptop, I spend a good 30 minutes just staring at the blinking curser the entire time. But today, in the less than 30 minutes I spent actually writing today, I got in a solid 302 words.

Anyhoo, that’s about all I had time for today. It’s a day off the Day Job so I have errands to run (cats need to be fed, after all), and a birthday to celebrate—can you believe Dad turns 77 years young this year?—so we’re going out to dinner tonight. Tomorrow is a home day, so I should be able to bust out the rest of this story tomorrow.

On a side note, I set up my phone’s home screen with widgets and one of them is quotes and motivations. This was the one that popped up when I left my writing session. Fitting don’t you think? 😆

//smth smth re: last post on Sa's tankiness, and also calling back to the 'curbstomping' Tomas gives her in the OshiplotTM ? While I don't remember Why baby Nori decided on those exact wounds (besides nebulous wump enjoyment), they nonetheless PREFECTLY work out for their intent—

Not just winning in a fight against Sa, but getting her out of the way, non fatally, for the immediate future (and it is for sake of immediate plans, due to Sasume being able to physically recover as fast as within a month).

Aka: have a crude run down of the "template" for that curbstomp fight, including the Injuries 8)

(major, if surface level, discussion of injuries ahead!)

0. Tomas trauma jumpscare?? Tomas trauma jumpscare!!! Important not just for ~drama~ reasons, but because it throws Sasume off so severely, its critical to how (horribly) the fight ends besides his own nebulous & suspicious power acquisition

1. A gash across the left thigh. Simple, yes, but it's a chip towards what's most important against Sa — her mobility. (Moreover, it also forces her to lead/rely on her blind side's leg.)

2. A deep stab to her right shoulder — specifically, underneath and along her collar bone. This fucks with her entire arm and her primary hand, meaning WHICHEVER side she tries to rely on, she can't.

And then, specifically BECAUSE Sasume is not being deterred in any capacity? And just slapping some ice on it and keep going? Is where the Real yikes ouch shit comes in.

3. Tomas pins her hands together and stabs through both of them (at approx "45°" angle, from thumb to pinky), meaning on top of everything she can't use her fucking hands.

Except... she can and she does, or rather she TRIES to— coats her uninjured fingers in ice and brutes force an attempted grip by controlling that ice.

4. She gets stabbed in the gut, through and through, more towards her left side. Because, despite Aiming to kick her down with minimal injury, NEAR fatal seems to be the only option (and does, This Time, actually work).***

Bonus round/"FAQ" wrt that slew of asterisks on no. 4:

"Usually", if one wanted to find her/'interrupt' and save her? This is where it'd be done. Except... nonzero chance that may be how and WHY Sasume gets skewered, since while Tomas gets distracted with the cavalry, she tries to sneak up on him — and Tomas's reflexes combined with multiple parties now being involved means he takes her for a newcomer and goes near fatal FIRST before Realizing (For extra Angst points, he may have reflexively stolen Shinrei and stabbed her with that — or perhaps he stole her 'savior/s' weapon instead...? 8) )

If you wanted to go even more extreme / angsty (and even more of a curbstomp): Sasume Is indeed found... strung up and impaled on her own sword. HOWEVER in these such cases, rather than being a message For Sasume, this fight/end result is a message VIA Sasume. I.e. to her allies or those who frequently employ her for their plots, etc. If Tomas is still involved, he only did and was aware of the actual FIGHT (and did not do the display), and his nebulous antagonist/villain allies are wont towards being far more public and overtly villainous than in other cases

Tomas does not NEED to be here. He's the default, sure, but if the whole Oshiplot can't fit or the specific antagonists who'd do so in xyz plot don't fit HIM? Yeah make it an npc. Tomas cropping up is just a plot device for sake of Sa-related plots, anyways — and she's OP enough to easily become a thorn in anyone's side

"Why is Tomas willing to curbstomp her if he doesn't want to kill her" Shhh 🤫spoilers! If your muse/s have reason to know any deeper lore on the Oshiplot I'll share, but!! By default? Who knows!! she knew him as a kid (pre orphanhood) and he knew her parents and chances are betrayed and killed her mom, after all

Notes: it’s been a long while since I wrote fanfics, but I hope you all enjoy this. Just wanted to let you know that in my head, the reader is Asian. She doesn’t have to be for you, but for me she is. I may have more stuff coming out, that may or may not contain some Asian influences. Another warning is that I’ve filled in some blanks for the reader, you can totally change it to whatever it is, but I prefer it this way. I hope you all don’t mind.

It was still early in the night when Timmy sent the internet into a frenzy. He uploaded a selfie, not realizing that he caught my silhouette in the corner of the photo. It wasn’t that noticeable, it was barely even there, but the internet detectives caught sight of it.

It was that same night that Timmy and I decided that we would come out to the public. It had been over a year since we began our relationship and while we were now comfortable with the idea of going public, I wasn’t ready to be in the spotlight, so we chose to keep my face out for now. Despite keeping our relationship away from the media and public, Timmy’s friends and family already knew; the people who mattered knew. I’ve met them and they were amazing and understanding. They understood the need for privacy and helped us keep it a secret. We all knew that one day we were going to have to come out. It just ended up happening a little bit earlier than expected. With that decision made, another photo was uploaded soon.
