Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

i am in no way a fic or comic writer so i doubt i'll ever make this into a full on series but i might post a couple more drabbles/ short out of context comics if i get to it. very welcome to any thoughts or questions ppl have

Word of advice to anyone who likes Omori analysis- check out @white-tulips critical re-playthrough of OMORI on their YouTube! I know they've been making the videos for a bit now, but I just started watching them (I've got to psyche myself up for long videos unless they're video essays, but this is pretty close to that category, so that helps). I watched the first one so far, and it was pretty absorbing. It's come to my attention that I've only played the game fully through once per main route (I have a Hikikomori file where I KNOW I've probably barely scratched the surface/never got to Red Maze), and played the True Route, and now I'm suddenly filled with a longing to play it again once I have the time.
Instead, though, I'll play Yume Nikki to check that out, because I've never played it despite knowing of it for a while, and now just found out (since it was mentioned in the video) that it's free on Steam! Well, fancy that!
Anyway, check out those videos. Neat stuff.

anyways hey girl. omoris your prime defenders
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
explanation of this au below cut cause i actually put a lot of thought into it (HUGE SPOILERS FOR OMORI, PRIME DEFENDERS SEASON 1, AND VAGUELY FOR PRIME DEFENDERS SEASON 2)
—-
this is a pretty different take on the omori dynamic, because it strays pretty far from it obviously. i didn’t really give the party any direct parallels to any of the characters characters (except ashe, because this au is meant to take place in her brain).
gist of it: “headspace” is where ashe went when the trickster took her brain over. it’s where she spends most of her days, but that doesn’t mean she’s not haunted by her past and the glimpses of the real world she gets.
instead of collecting keys for the hangman puzzle, she collects pages, like from her book. each page summons a boss battle against/interaction with the entity on it. sometimes it’s benign stuff like the healing angel or duck, and sometimes it’s not. when ashe levels up to like. level 5 or something she unlocks the giant spectral hand which she used for a lot of combat in season 1.
in a lot of points during an omori playthrough, collecting a key for hangman would trigger a memory. when ashe interacts with a benign spirit from a page, she gets a happy memory, like getting pizza with everyone. when she fights off a malicious spirit, she gets an occasional glimpse into the real world— and sees the destruction the trickster has done and the effect it’s had on everybody.
instead of making ashe’s sprite entirely black and white, i chose to keep her colors pretty dull but also still rather close to her real world colors. this is cause of the symbolism of the other pd boys, and the fact that they all have very vibrant monochrome designs. before they showed up in ashe’s life, her days were very dull, spent cooped up in her room, and when they barged into her house on some random tuesday, they brought color back into her life.
and, obviously, ashe’s “something” would be her mother.
in combat, ashe gets to use moves from the pages she collected. vyncent does knife-based attacks but every couple turns can “charge up” for a small magic one (like how he can light small fires). william does ghost-based attacks, and so he does best when team attacking with ashe. dakota has martial arts-based attacks (basically pretty similar to kel’s skill set from the game). he also has the most hp and is usually the tank of the party.
i’ll probably add some more to this later but this ideas been sitting in my brain for like two days now i needed to get it out

Omori is fun so far
(I'm really early in the game but some spoilers up ahead)
I've been jump scared twice (? Not sure if the hangman intro counts) (my dad jump scares me a lot so I'm somewhat used to it) and almost died a few times (in game, not irl) but it's fun
For my first "horror" game I'm doing good (that being said, im only in the prologue with like 2 hours playing time under my belt so i think I probably haven't seen much XD still gotta find my boi Basil)
I was sat there for like 15 minutes trying to get out of white space the second time bc the door was gone. I figured it out eventually and I think it's like a dream space but jeez
The shadow monster I had to fight as Sunny looks like the eel from Mario 64 kinda. Idk he's goofy looking XD he did almost kill me which is NOT cool (I hit the wrong button on accident and didn't let Mari inside ;-;)
Apparently it's a long game though and I've heard it has multiple endings so that's fun Replayability let's gooooooo

OMARI AU HEADCANNONS???
I’m not sure if you mean for my specific AU or an OMARI AU in general, and so I’m going to go with assuming it’s for my GUILTI AU since the regular OMARI AU doesn’t appeal to me.
This got kind of long so this is going under a read more!
In GUILTI, Sunny kills himself on the night of the recital due to pressure from Mari and his parents to be perfect and being unable to cope properly.
Sunny had been dealing with depression for years but didn't have the words to explain what he was going through, so no one seemingly understood that he was suffering.
Mari blames herself for Sunny's death, both because she was at home and should have realized and been able to save him, as well as that she believed her own pressure on him was a huge factor.
Her devastation and guilt led to her to stop going to school and stay at home, for fear of having to face her friends after the funeral.
Mari was never as imaginative as Sunny was, but the hard depression that hit her following his death led her to sleep most of the day which is what originally founded her White Space--she had little imaginative abilities and so could only dream in this white, lonely space.
Eventually she began to dream in memories, remembering good times with her friends when they were younger, and Sunny when he was still alive. This created Headspace, though it was not nearly as wild and fun as Sunny's is in the original OMORI.
I don't know squat about Japanese, but upon looking for definitions of what 'Hiki' on its own can mean, I found that one kanji for "Hiki" translates to mean Sadness and Grief, and another translates to mean Joy. I cannot verify that as I do not speak Japanese, but if that's true, then Hiki holds a greater meaning for Mari's alternate name than simply completing the Hikikomori word between the main game and the AU.
Whereas in OMORI you spend the game gathering letters to complete the hangman game to unlock Black Space, in GUILTI, Mari is collecting music notes to complete the sheet music for her recital that she never got to go to with Sunny.
Instead of trying to keep her there, her friends in Headspace want her to be happy and feel better in the real world.
Headspace Sunny is a bit of a twisted version of Sunny in Mari's head--he becomes the happy child that she likes to remember and thought he was, but she ultimately will need to confront the real version of him, who rarely smiled and was depressed and struggling.
Mari's weapon of choice in Headspace is Sunny's bow because she the memory of her brother and the recital they never went to causes her mental anguish, which can also be dealt to enemies.
That being said, there's not much fighting in Mari's headspace. She doesn't have much anger to work out (except towards herself) and instead the enemies she fights are amalgamations of her intrusive thoughts and guilt.
In Headspace and White Space, Mari is cursed to wear the same outfit she wore for the recital, when she found Sunny.
In the real world, Mari stays shut away in her house and doesn't take good care of herself. Her appearance is no longer shining and clean like she was before her trauma.
Additionally, Basil was with Mari when they found Sunny. Sunny had tried to send Basil home, but Basil didn't want to go home and instead just wandered around the neighborhood to let Sunny cool down after his fight with Mari. He returned close to the recital time to get a ride, and that's when Sunny was found.
Basil is really traumatized from seeing his dead best friend and dealt with it in his own bad ways but I've been babbling for so long that that will have to be another post.
TL;DR...GUILTI AU is really sad but it also explores some some really good psychology and is the story that I thought OMORI was when I first got it.

Something is up with this piano dude
The screenshot here is the first time you get to visit the piano room, as Sunny cannot enter alone before this point, he straight up refuses to. It's too traumatic. Omori of course, is free from this burden. In the alternate route, you can play as Omori in the real world, and he is able to enter the piano room. So, Sunny can't access this place unless he's acting as his alter ego... And if the piano is clean then... Omori has entered the piano room recently. Or at least someone has. Also, let us consider the fact that Omori (the character), is entirely monochrome (just black and white), not even greyed out like shadow basil. Let us, *ponder*, even, how his character design has striped pants, like separate keys on a piano. LET US EVEN *RUMINATE*, on how in one of the game's trailers, we see Sunny playing the piano (and in a hangman key cutscene).

Could you tell us more about your omori au? It sounds really interesting!
I !!! did not expect this!!!! thank you for asking!
alright spoilers ahead for omori (duh) and a fic about this doodle page that doesn’t exist. writing this explanation is very difficult actually because again, I HAVEN’t rly thought it thru lol. it’s set after the bad ending in the hospital. like how smashing the black bulb ends sunny’s repression and opens up the chance to accept the truth, smashing sunny’s head in ends his life and literally opens up headspace and scatters it in the real world for everyone else to deal with. —cont for the sake of space—
(fun fact i came up with all of this in the shower after i made this one correlation)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so basil gets REAL anxious and secretive, believing it’s all his fault and realizing he’s the only one left to bear the weight of the secret. he keeps up a facade, since he lost the only person he could ever be real with, all while all the weird dream logic creatures seem to fear him as a “stranger”. a bunch of somethings (including abbi) seem to be drawn toward him and his photo album looks like it’s been crossed out again.
aubrey and kel are devastated, but make a silent agreement to try to hold the group together to avoid more tragedy with the “help” of the big yellow cat in the treehouse they’re trying to restore. kel becomes an honorary member of the hooligans and becomes friends with a sprout mole. hero is the one to come across a game of hangman, as well as see something in a photograph he doesn’t recognize. he opts to avoid college responsibilities (even though he’s leaving in a week) and meets a giant whale.
as for the headspace denizens, i haven’t really thought of their involvement of the actual plot at all through (yet?). i just know that a young version of basil, kel, aubrey, and hero are looking for their friend omori. it kinda becomes an attached dreamworld that you don’t notice the transition or things out of place until you squint. for some reason, there’s also a new locked white door in the treehouse, but the key they found on sunny didn’t fit.

Pokémon in: Omori
Chapter 3
Omori saw the Pokémon trio two days ago. It had been the first time in 4 years. He'd started resetting headspace, and his own memories. When the Pokémon trio first came, headspace wasn't formed. Whitespace was real, but not headspace. Then, the trio returned, asking to take the place of headspace counterparts. How could Omori refuse? It's not like they could tell Sunny the truth, and if he was being honest, Omori being the only sentient thing besides Mewo made him lonely. If they were here, Musharna's Mist would make it all real. He would have real friends, not just illusions formed from memories. So Omori accepted the offer. He knew he wouldn't remember it until after the cycle, but would there even be a cycle anymore? Maybe his headspace adventures would just…continue. The stoic boy finished the reset.
Omori was laying down when he decided to stare at his computer screen. To his surprise, there was a new game. Hangman. Huh, neat. Something fell nearby. Omori ventured into the void. He found a map. Then, he re-entered Neighbor's Room. Aubrey ran and hugged him. Ralts came running and cried.
"Omori! You're Ok!" She said.
"What happened?" Kel asked.
"Yeah, I remember going to Basil's house, then you and Basil vanished, then we all woke up here in Neighbor's Room." Hero told Omori. Ralts was crying and looking at Omori's chest. A specific spot. The spot it had seen Omori stab himself at. It looked normal now. Omori just stood there, taking in the information. He always had a few VERY vague memories of past cycles, so this felt familiar, like Deja Vu. Omori brushed it off.
"Let's go see Mari and let her know you're alright. You know how she worries about you." Hero said. With that, the group left Neighbor's Room.
As they went to the playground, Omori looked around. This felt…different somehow. Like it was more…real?
They reached the picnic area. Before they could reach the picnic blanket, Mari and her Pokémon ran up and hugged Omori.
"Omori! You're ok!" She cried, tears flowing. When the tears stopped, she released Omori.
"Don't disappear like that!" She scolded. Aubrey came closer, Marill on her shoulder.
"Hey Mari? Have you seen Basil?" She asked.
"No, I haven't."
Kel quickly chimed in.
"Don't worry! He probably just got lost in the woods!" Kel said. Aubrey just stared at him, but agreed to check there. Omori decided to talk with some of the playground kids first, though. Berly and Van were in front of the tether ball pole, but there was no ball.
"Great, now the ball is gone!" Berly said.
"It's not gone, I saw it fly in that direction!" Van said, pointing to the forest.
"Well it might as well be if it's there! This is why you can't use your arms! You gotta use your head, like this!" Berly said, and she headbutted Van, while her Druddigon headbutted his Abomasnow.
"Hey Berly." Aubrey said. Berly turned.
"What do you want?" She said.
"We were about to leave to go look for Basil in Vast Forest, we can grab your ball while we're at it." Aubrey explained.
"Really!? Alright, but I'm coming with to point it out!" Berly said. The group went and saw Shawn and Ren stargazing with their Plusle and Minun.
"We're stargazing! Wanna join us?" They offered. Omori laid on the ground and watched the stars. He felt like he didn't have a care in the world. He learned the skill Observe. After getting up and passing by Neb, who hadn't caught a Pokémon yet because he was too busy doing puzzles, to see Daisy and her Sunflora.
"There's a guy I like, but he only likes puzzles…I wish I could find a flower puzzle…" She muttered.
Omori went down to the forest. There were many twists and turns. Bunnies, Sprout Moles, and Big Strong Trees. When they got there, Kel rushed ahead.
"I know who can help, my Nacli, Hector!" Kel yelled, sending out Hector. Hector just stood there. Kel went up to him and pet him.
"It's ok, Hector, you tried your best." He said. Aubrey hit him.
"This is no time to play around!" She said.
"I wasn't! Hector was just trying to help!" Kel yelled. Hero had to break up the fight.
As they traveled through the woods, they found a cave. Inside was a Wise Rock. They gave him some clams for some bad advice.
"Yell ALL THE TIME!" The rock yelled. The group crossed a bridge, a very misty bridge. It was long. Then, Omori saw someone. It looked like Basil! Kinda. Omori ran after him, everyone else following suit. But the stranger disappeared. Omori stopped. He looked at Ralts.
Ralts shook its head. Ralts was confused. It sensed both hostility and comfort from the stranger. It made no sense.
The group eventually found Berly's ball, but not Basil. They returned to the playground. Once their, Berly approached them.
"I guess I should thank you guys for finding my ball. So, I'm gonna teach one of you my special skill! But first, who here is the most hard headed?"
Kel nudged Aubrey.
"Well it's obviously Aubrey!" He said.
"What?!" Aubrey said, looking angry.
"Perfect, I knew I saw potential in you! Come here! And bring Nidoran with you." Berly said.
Aubrey did as told.
"OK ok, see that guy and his Pokémon?" Berly asked.
"I know who Van is" Aubrey said. Berly ignored that.
"OK, so what you two are going to do is…"
Berly ran up and headbutted Van.
"Just like that."
Aubrey looked around.
"I don't know…won't it hurt?"
"Psh. No!" Berly said, a little to quick.
"And it could mess up my hair…" Aubrey said.
Berly looks frustrated.
"Come on, Aubrey! Live a little! Come on Come on Come on Come on-"
"Alright fine!" Aubrey said, but only to get Berly to shut up.
She sent out Nidoran ♀️. Then, she ran at Van full speed and jumped at home headfirst. Nidoran♀️ ran at Abomasnow and hit it with its head.
"Woooo~ my head kind of hurts…" Aubrey said. Berly ran up to her.
"Nice job! I knew I saw potential in you!" Berly said. She then scribbled something on a piece of paper.
"Congrats! You passed the test! From this day forward, I declare you a certified Headbutter! Take this certificate, show your friends! I'm sure they'll be proud!" Berly said before going to play Tetherball.
Aubrey held the certificate, unsure of what to do with it when Nidoran ♀️ grabbed it and took it over to the others.
"Hey! Nidoran!" Aubrey yelled, but it was too late. Kel had seen it.
"You got the Butt Certificate! Hahahaha!" He teased.
"Kel! Give it to me!" She said and snatched it from his hand before giving it to Omori. Omori saw his sister on her picnic blanket. He ran over to her, with his friends following. Mari saw the group.
"Hey guys! Any luck finding Basil?" Mari asked. Basil's Pokémon went up to the kids, hoping they found Basil.
"No. No luck…" Hero said.
"I miss Basil…" Aubrey said.
"Hey! You know that ladder in the corner? Why don't we climb it!" Kel suggested. Omori looked a little nervous.
"But…Omori is afraid of heights…" Aubrey said.
"I'm sure it will be fine. Omori, do you think you can do it?" Mari asked him. Omori thought, then nodded.
"Alright! Don't worry Omori! You'll be fine!" Aubrey said.
"And if you fall, Ralts can use psychic to catch you!" Kel said. Aubrey smacked him.
"Don't say that! He won't fall!" Aubrey said.
The group left and went to the ladder.
When they got there, Omori was kind of nervous.
"Ok guys. Why don't we return our Pokémon to their Pokéballs?" Hero suggested. Everyone began to, but Ralts used Psychic to keep Omori from returning it, Mawile or Musharna. They knew he didn't have their Pokéballs. They aren't his Pokémon. They are Sunny's Pokémon. Omori looked at the trio and shrugged, not looking for Pokéballs. He approached the ladder.
"Don't worry, Omori. We're right here." Aubrey said. Ralts and Mawile put their hands on his leg and smiled and him. Musharna nodded. Omori looked at his three friends. As scared as he was, he needed to find Basil. He touched the ladder. He felt like hands were surrounding him before they abruptly disappeared. He was no longer afraid of heights.
Omori climbed, Aubrey followed, then Kel, then Mawile, then Ralts, then Hero.
As they got higher, they stopped.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HECTOOOOOOOOOOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"Hey guys, I think I dropped something." Kel said. He checked his pockets. There was Spinda's Pokéball, Snom's Pokéball, and…
"Hey, I can't find Hector!"
"I think I saw something fall!" Hero said.
Author's note
Honestly, I think that part where you just explore Vast Forest is the most boring part of the game. Then again, I always end up there for at least an hour because I can't find Berly's stupid BALL! Anyway, read, review, send some asks to me or the characters!
