He Could Be The One | Trevor Zegras x Reader
Summary: When Jack Hughes takes his best friend y/n on an amazing summer vacation to Los Angeles, Y/n has to learn to navigate the beautiful beaches of California and try not to ruin her vacation fighting with her new housemate.
Word Count: ~950
By: M
part two | part three
Tumblr media
PART ONE: California
Summer had started off slowly for y/n. She had finished her second semester of college, her major still undecided. She felt as if she was aimlessly wandering through life, so, when her roommate and best friend, Jack Hughes had asked her to accompany him on a trip to Los Angeles, who was she to say no?
------------
"Ok, y/n are you sure you have everything?" Jack asks me for the third time today.
"Yes! I still have everything… Nothing has walked out of my bag within the past five minutes I swear" I say, trying to hide my laugh.
"Fine, but when you forget something I am not going to rush out and buy you a replacement."
"Whatever J," I roll my eyes.
When we land in LA, I can't help but look through the airport with my eyes wide. This isn't my first time traveling, but, every new place I visit is so full of life that I can't help but find myself starstruck.
"L/n, come on!" Jack calls, pulling me from my thoughts.
"Wait… Jack, where are we staying?" I ask, having realized I had no idea what our plans were for the trip.
"You'll see." He says before he grabs my arm and hails a taxi.
I put my headphones on as the taxi driver pulls the car away from the airport. I shuffle through my music, looking out into the city that would be my home for the next 3 months. Jack had told me in passing that we would be visiting some of his hockey friends to which I just nodded, not bothering to ask who. It's not that I don't care about hockey, I do, but I quickly got over being starstruck by the players when Jack got drafted. Before I can fully process the weight of being in Los Angeles for the first time, we arrive at a very nice house.
"Is this where we're staying?" I ask, my voice threaded with awe.
"Oh- uh- yeah. I thought we could stay with Z since he offered and his roommate is away for the summer."
"Z? You didn't tell me we were visiting him… Why?"
"I mean- you didn't ask?" He says scratching the back of his neck, clearly worried I'm going to yell at him.
He knows that Trevor and I don't get along, but, for the sake of the trip I decide to try to keep the childish behavior at a minimum. I will, however, be having words with J about this later. Before I can yell at Jack, the front door opens, and someone I don't recognize walks out. He seems nice enough, and I find myself drawn in to look at the freckles dotting his face in varying shades of brown.
Jack pulls me from my thoughts by greeting the man in front of us, "Oh! Hey Jamie! I thought it was just Trevor at the house for the summer."
"Yeah it was supposed to be, but my family decided to go on a trip with my brother, and I don't really feel up for constant travelling." The man, Jamie, responds.
"This is y/n by the way…" Jack says gesturing towards me.
"Hi." I wave.
"Hi." He says softly, as he does a half-wave back.
We grab our bags and walk into the house. The interior is even more beautiful than the outside of the house. We walk into the living room, leather couches surrounding the largest tv I have ever seen. The floorplan is open, so, I scan the kitchen. Beautiful white marble counters line the walls, with an island in the center. The fridge and oven are state of the art, and I make a mental note to bake something while we're here.
"Trevor, they're here!" Jamie calls up the stairs.
"Oh hey… I didn't realize you'd arrived." He says politely, walking down the stairs. "I also didn't realize she would be here." She being me of course.
"Hm. Lovely to see you too Trevor." I smile at him.
"Trevor." Jack says in a sharp tone. "I told you she'd be here, and if I remember correctly you actually said-"
"OKAAAAY. So now that we have all the pleasantries out of the way…" Trevor starts, promptly cutting Jack off. "We actually only have three rooms because I wasn't expecting Jamie to be here, so someone's sharing, and it isn't me."
"Actually. I think you and Jack should share since Jamie has a room, and I, being the only girl here, should get my own room." I say, stepping towards Trevor.
"A girl? Oh really? I hadn't noticed." Trevor rolls his eyes, "oh and there's no world in which I'm sharing a room with Jack. He talks in his sleep." He adds, crinkling his nose.
"I do not." Jack defends, looking towards me for support.
"Oh you most definitely do." I laugh.
"Well, I mean I have no problem sleeping on one of the couches down here so y/n can have her own space…" Jamie says, surprising me, as I had forgotten he was even there.
"Oh. No. No. I can't ask you to do that. No way. But, for the record not staying with Jack either, he really does talk."
"Ok so it's settled, Jack gets his own room, which means you, my friend, are staying with one of us." Trevor says wrapping his arm around me.
I promptly shove his arm off of me and step back. "Ok, so basically I'm stuck with you then Z since I just met Jamie."
Trevor smirks at me, but, before he can open his mouth I grab my bags and head upstairs to the room he had come out of earlier, yelling down the stairs about how I get the bed and he gets the floor.

(The explanation I spared you before.) Okay so I've been drawing art, right? and I keep struggling with backgrounds. It suddenly occurred to me, oh hey, I have a game where I can make something similar-ish to the scenes I picture in my head, and then I can use screenshots as a reference! (I think the reason I started with trying to do Hunger AU is because it's in a small space with a lot of environmental storytelling?) But yeah funny thing is, when you try to recreate something in the Sims 4, all of a sudden you realize all the bits of the floor layout that you don't know. Figured you wouldn't mind me poking you about it. Wasn't expecting you to already have a diagram, though! 'Twas a nice surprise.
Some very quick screenshots just from me really quickly throwing together a quick build in the Sims 4:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm probably going to change stuff to get the details better, but it's getting late now and I have actual Productive Adult things that need to be done before I can go to bed guilt free.
Also, fun fact, the next Hunger AU fanart's background is now confirmed completely wrong, but, oh well. XD
(Also to any keen-eyed Sims 4 fans who see this, yes, there is one (1) piece of CC in these screenshots, and it's from Ravasheen's Filthy Fabulous set. Vanilla Sims 4 doesn't have small coffee tables and it fits the vibe imo.)
WHOAAAA HELLO THESE ARE SO COOL??? ALSO HOLY SHIT THE DEDICATION..... THIS IS AMAZING OMG THE BASEMENT LOOKS PERFECT IM GOING NUTS
The vibes of these are SO GOOD im fucking speechless like HELLO....... im glad i was able to provide a floorplan for you WKDNWNSJSJSJ hopefully that will make your life easier 😂😂😂😂😂 i absolutely do not mind you poking me about it at all!!!
O7 TO YOUR PRODUCTIVE ADULT THINGS, I HOPE YOU GET TO BREEZE THROUGH THEM!!!!! :D this is so incredible, thank you for sharing!!!

Decided to post my Backrooms chapter illustrations separately. The links to all the (SFW) chapters can be found here:
I really wanted to push myself not just as a writer, but also as a digital artist for this story.
You can read some rambles about my art process for each illustration below the cut.
Ch 1: For this chapter cover, I wanted to do my best to replicate the eerie, sickly vibe of Level Zero. And that resulted me in really playing around with the lighting and shadows in a way that I hadn't before. I also wanted to give it a bit of wonky perspective and feel a bit like an illusion-house.
Ch 2: Lookit this cheeky fucker. Totally isn't a Tower of Terror employee luring you into a false sense of security. 😁 My initial idea for this illustration was to make it look as if the Manager's cuttlefish head was really morphing & bowing out from within the wallpaper. I tried a couple drafts where I attempted to line up his tentacles and facial patterns with the wallpaper patterns. And idk, it just didn't end up looking as cool as it did in my head. (Also hallelujiah for Clip pattern brushes, they helped me make the trim around the elevator.)
Ch 3: Fun fact: This chapter was originally going to be the second half of my hotel chapter. But I'm glad it became its own thing, cause otherwise it would've robbed me of the chance to draw Rags acting like a supervillain in a construction helmet and flannel 👍
also Clip Studio Assets are a godsend, they prevent me from having to draw out an entire freakin warehouse floorplan. I did color it all myself though.
Ch 4: I remember this drawing taking me longer than I would've liked. Then again I've always struggled to draw somewhat realistic-looking water. The shadow off-shooting below the smaller cube pool into the deeper water was actually a complete accident.
And in case anyone was wanting to see a close-up of Lionfish Rags:
Tumblr media
And again, Spike and Drake are temporary names for the sake of this AU setting until I think of actual names (for if and when I ever get around to making a Mer-Nautica AU like I've been wanting to). The silhouettes show how big they were when I first saw them in my dreams:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ch 5: I had visuals in mind for a group of Wanderers/ Survivors since before I wrote this chapter, and grew even more attached to them as I wrote them. I was originally going to just have them depicted here, but I also couldn't get the stupid image of Rags and his megaphone out of my head and decided it needed to be shared 👌
Ch 6: When I tell yall that it was a struggle to get through drawing this. And not because of genuine art struggles; No, because of the pure Lee Panik that gripped my soul when having to zoom in close on Rags' sadistic unhinged Ler face hhhhhhfdhdfjgkfghl-
This was one of the chapters I was most looking forward to writing. It's still one of my favs in terms of pure unbridled ruthless gang-tickling, the culmination of my pred/prey/chasing fantasies revolving around laughter-hungry monsters, along with some good ol Mad Scientist roleplay.
...Oh and the first official introduction of the final antagonist, there's that too 😛
Ch 7: Yall have no idea the absolute childlike glee I felt when discovering that there's a freaking Bouncehouse/McDonalds Playplace level of the Backrooms. But holy hell, drawing the Toon Monsters was more of a challenge than I thought. There's a surprising amount of finesse in depicting that wacky, slightly-unnerving/uncanny toony charm. (Ballpit brush is best brush, change mymind)
Ch 8: Since this chapter was more or less meant to be a sort of mid-series Climax, a hint of what the battle with the Keymaster would be like, I really wanted to push myself with making this chapter cover truly stand out. It was fun to come up with a full-body design for the Court Jester (based on his Wiki interpretation of course), and it was fun to experiment with the ideas I had in mind for his magic visuals.
Once again, Clip Studio assets are a lifesaver, you can catch me actually attempting to draw a rollercoaster or carousel when I'm six feet under 👌
Ch 9: I was both excited about, and dreading, the chance to play around with various different light colors & sources. I wasn't sure how I was going to make neon blues, purples and magentas work in contrast to Rags' color palette, but I'm very happy with what I came up with.
The Dark Sovereign was also a chance for me to play around with chiaroscuro, an art technique that I've always admired (and actually really liked to do with chalk & pastel back in college). As much as I'm a slut for bright colors, I love stark contrasting black & white.
Ch 10: I went through about three iterations of sketches for this chapter cover. I felt like I just couldn't figure out how to angle the perspective of the treeline in comparison to the Giant. I'm still not even sure if I thoroughly pulled off the proper perspective of the greenhouse in the far distance. But once I added all the pretty, spooky fog effects, I became much happier with it.
Unfortunately I do not have a standalone drawing of Naga!Rags. It will definitely happen one of these days.
Ch 11: For this chapter, I wanted to draw a very cramped, stark, foreboding stretch of environment: Basically, a quintessential scene that one would see in the Backrooms if they were wandering through them alone. This is meant to be a much more down-to-earth chapter than the rest, with an air of melancholy and uncertainty. Turns out it actually lined up quite well with some of my own mental and emotional struggles that I was going through at the time.
Ch 12: For the final hurrah, I really wanted to push myself as a digital artist for this piece. (Though that doesn't mean I was about to draw all those goddamn keys from scratch, lmaoo you can thank Clip Assets for that key ring.) I wanted to try and find a way to make the Keymaster the more imposing figure in the piece, despite the fact that Rags is fully powered-up and closest to the viewer. I'm not sure if I entirely succeeded, since my end solution for making him stand out more was "MOAR GLOWY KEYS!!!"
But it was still fun, and very rewarding to get it completed.
Ch 13: I was very happy to finally get the chance to fully render Kenni for this fic. As much as shading his tendrils still drives me up the wall, it felt nice drawing the good soff boi. And I was happy to give an idea of how his Dream realm looks, with all its pastel clouds and close proximity to the Astral plane.

Topper: So, our home is a single story. I created a floorplan. If you touch anything green, you leave with one ear less than you arrived with.
Spewart: Tops, you can't make claim to the only chairs and ashtray-
Hariet: Anyways! Let's introduce everyone:
Topper is very withdrawn and demands a lot of privacy. He has bladder issues, so he demanded a room with his own bathroom. He rarely has meltdowns, but they happen sometimes.
Spewart is pretty laid back and likes to chat. He also likes to read, and is fairly hospitable. If you need or want any snacks made, he has your back. He talks a lot about his boyfriend.
Rango has been through a bit, but he pushes through. He's very cuddly, and has some issues with personal boundaries. He talks a lot about his special interests, and also walks in his sleep.
And then you have me! I'm told to be a good hostess, but a bit on the unhinged side. I also sleeptalk apparently?
Spewart: Onto food! We don't eat shellfish, treenuts or peanuts because Rango will swell up and stop breathing. Since we dunno your food preferences, we're ordering pizza! Be mindful that Topper is a vegetarian when choosing toppings then.
Topper: I don't care, I just won't eat.
Spewart: Um... we also have a lot of mac and cheese cups and chicken nuggets for Rango if you don't like pizza!
Rango: *spacing out* ... Oh, it's my turn! Rules, um... do NOT go in Toppy's room, touch his cigarettes, or sit in "his" chair... no peanuts or shellfish... Don't play the gamecube or switch past 11pm... Oh! Breathe in for 5 seconds and out for 7 seconds when the thoughts kick in and you're going to Mind World!
Hariet: ... Rango, that's a rule just for you.
Rango: .... oh.
(This is in regards to the recent ask I had for @thekoopalingsandstuffs .)

So funny thing about that finnish microapartment on sale for 100k. I just had to look it up, and two interesting things popped up. Firstly, the most likely buyers were investors, our favorites. But secondly, it has already been delisted because its not actually an apartment at all, but an office. Its a whole lot of clown shoes Best wishes from the north!
Oh bless you for the info, I can't read the local stuff and even if I could searching it on US sites probably not so easy, could do it but effort
Seriously though, starting at 100,000 euros thinking it could hit 130,000 for this (totally unrelated, but this dude looks like Elton John to me)
Tumblr media
That's your bed over his left shoulder, guessing the bathroom around behind that sink behind on the right (we're using stage not audience)
(OK I lied I'm looking up the floorplan, link in the article tho so still not really effort.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like how they stress that the shower is in its own nook and not in there with the shower, I don't know of many places that have a toilet in the shower, squat toilet could work but not sit down.
Also I can't tell if that piece about this place is serious or if it's making jokes about everything since google translate leaves out a lot I'm sure.
I could live there, I'd like a stove at least though. I need more kitchen.
Thank your for the info though seriously, too funny.

55 Pupperstone Park WIP
It's just been Brandi and her two boys ever since her ex skipped town within days of Beau's birth, but it's fine. She's managing. Sure, her waitressing job barely covers rent anymore, and, yes, maybe her wannabe teenage rebel Dustin has acting out even more than usual, oh, and, of course, it's just her luck that a one night stand might have had some unintended consequences... But it's fine. She's fine. As long as she doesn't have to run home to her parents, she's managing just fine.

shitty floorplan screenshots
I built the Pleasants' house on a 40x40 in Brindleton Bay, and a trailer park didn't really work for how the world is set up. So I figure a run down and outdated apartment (I wanted to use those cool kitchen counters so bad) at least kind of works? I dunno.
I think I just wanted something crusty after Mary Sue's pristine house.
But also I have no idea when this evolved into a Pleasantview-inspired-thing, and if TS4 won't give me versatile apartments IDK I'm not that good of a good builder but I guess I'll make them myself.
Also fudged the timeline a bit though for my own sanity so Beau's a child and Dustin is probably a recent teen? Their age gap always kind of bugged me.
Also fuuuuck I don't think I can rebuild this in TS2 so it feels like wasted time lmao ugh.

Right then so then
Plan for tonight
Pack a laundry bag for tomorrow, sort through my wardrobe (cs I didn't get any further than my documents box the other day) at least - and 1/3 clothes drawers if I can, then also draw out a floorplan of this new flat and make a furniture-wanted list
Tomorrow then - laundry, shower, sort all 3 clothes drawers as poss., top up lecky, go chase up docs about T, ring my current landlord again to get an answer if I can stay til 27th instead of 24th (they want me to pay that three days rent if so, but have not said if I can or not yet. To quote mum - "wankers")
General list, poss weekend jobs - get original moving boxes off the cupboard tops, sort through art cupboards and pack up what needs careful (ink paint canvases) in said boxes, sort through books,,, clean all of kitchen, I still haven't chucked the old blinds the landlord's workmen didn't bother to, so that,
Idk what else
Oh! Refind and resend all my referencey stuff to the new landlord people, cs it's a new flat application, so even though they've already got it they need it again (?????). Tomorrow, cs writing this list took most of my remaining brainpower tbh and I'm still not even home

I made a whole lotta new lads for the Sigmatrix today. And they're all Constructicons.
And I'm gonna showcase all of them here. First up, Torque, based off Long Haul, is a lazy slacker who would rather take it easy rather than work. Torque is a bot of consistency at best and he can always be seen hanging out in the same couple places at any given time. When he gets berated by his coworkers for being lazy, Torque tends to ignore them, but will only get up and work if he absolutely has to.
Tumblr media
Second is Elevation, based off Hightower. A cranky busybody with a passion for paperwork, he excels at organization and keeping things neat and tidy, only to fly into a wild rage and start swingin' his hook when Aggregate and Digger goof off and destroy his stuff. On the side, he has a hobby in artwork, using a special paintbrush attachment for his crane, but Quarry ends up giving him so much legal work that he can't be bothered to use it anymore.
Tumblr media
Third is Aggregate, based off Mixmaster. A rather unsophisticated bot with a headcase as dense as Tungsten, Aggregate is... Well, to be blunt, a complete and utter moron. However, this doesn't seem to stop him, as he's always one to try and think outside the box, even if it results in asinine plans that cause much destruction and mayhem in their wake. Aggregate always means well and isn't a cruel bot by any means, but that doesn't seem to stop him for continuing to tinker and screw up. Oh, well, at least it means his pals always have work to do.
Tumblr media
Fourth is Towbeam, based off Bonecrusher. A brutal hothead who just wants to get any job done as quickly as possible, and as a result, is almost always nagging on Torque to get him in action. However, Towbeam is also a major workaholic, and despite wanting jobs to be fast paced, he craves work and any means to keep his hands busy, hating nothing more than the slow days when there's nothing to do.
Tumblr media
Fifth is Digger, based off Scrapper. The Tweddle Dee to Aggregate's Tweddle Dum and certified partner in idiot crime, Digger is arguably an even bigger moron than his best bud, though unlike him, he is known for spontaneous bursts of intelligence, such as using a broken I-Beam girder to stabilize a loose section of a building one time. However, he is also willing to make fun of Aggregate's idiocy as well as his own, only because he knows his best bud can't come up with a good retort to save his own skid plate.
Tumblr media
Sixth is Quarry, based off Scavenger. The certified head honcho, big cheese and over all boss of the Sigmatrix Constructicons team, Quarry tends to be the hardest worker, reading the blueprints and telling his boys (and singular girl) where to go and how to get any number of job done. He loves these goofballs like his own kids, but won't hesitate to get on any of their cases when arguments and disagreements naturally ensue from their clashing personalities.
Tumblr media
Seventh is Floorplan, based off Rampage. She's a woman who knows exactly what she wants, and what that usually comes down to more than anything is money. As such, she'll go to any possible end just to get rich, even often going so far as to be a shameless flirt towards her cohorts, distracting them to the point where no work tends to get done and whoever hired them will have to pay them more just to get them back on track.
Tumblr media
Last, but certainly not least, there's Drywall, based off Overload. The team's resident chef and a bot of few words, letting his actions speak louder. He's the only bot who works harder than Quarry, but rarely makes any appearance out on the construction site proper, only being found a majority of the time in the kitchen of the team's home base, where a piping hot drum of oil and Energon is always waiting for the others after a long day's work. Despite how much the others clash, they always manage to chat quietly and enjoy each other's company when sitting down for dinner, and that always brings a smile to Drywall's face.
Tumblr media
The profiles for all eight of them can be found here:
[Torque] [Elevation] [Aggregate] [Towbeam] [Digger] [Quarry] [Floorplan] [Drywall]

Have you got any playoff preference for any other serie that isn’t the rangers’?
Anon, I am MADE of playoff series preferences. My hate for other teams fuels me. I have thoughts, feelings, and emotions about every other team out there. So I appreciate the question, really. Because now I have a reason to share those thoughts on the internet. Fair warning, this will be long'ish.
Penguins vs. Rangers
Tumblr media
I mean--c'mon
Bruins vs. Hurricanes
Tumblr media
I like that they just scream MR SVECHNIKOV before games. Also, I want nice things for Brady Skjei. Someone can break Tony D'Fuckface's legs, though.
Lightning vs. Maple Leafs
Tumblr media
Ryan McDonagh is my favorite Minnesota dad. I love him. His NYC apartment sold for a lot of money and the floorplan was the basis for Killian’s apartment in Blue Line. Also, I think it'd be real funny if the Leafs lost another series.
Panthers vs. Capitals
Tumblr media
TJ Oshie is my favorite frat boi dad. I...have a lot of favorite dads? Apparently?
Avalanche vs. Naahville
Tumblr media
There is a surplus of attractiveness in this series. Like, have you seen Roman Josi anon? We don't talk about Roman Josi enough. He's so good looking. But! Gabe Landeskog is also real good looking? And I like the Avs. They all seem a little in love with each other. I'm into that.
Wild vs. Blue
Tumblr media
We wish success to former Rangers! I like that Zucc has just become a dad in Minnesota. On the ice, not real life. This was not an intentional theme. Apologies to Buch who, as a former Ranger should also get my support, but I hate Binngton's face. And that Ryan O'Reilly's very existence makes me sing that theme song.
Oilers vs. Kings
Tumblr media
I made the Kings the villains in an 800,000 word fan fiction. So.
Stars vs. Flames
Tumblr media
Indie writers on Twitter are starting to use real people in their canva made graphics for their books. And I was scrolling one day, saw a promo for some book with a himbo hockey playing love interest and it was just...Tyler Seguin's face. And I was like oh yeah that checks. Tyler Seguin has never had a coherent thought in his life. Don't use real people in your canva graphics. Use 'em for fic.

🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.
[Fanfic Writer Emoji Ask]
Deep diving I see! I will try my best to answer 💪💪
Thank you for the ask!
[me coming back after typing it all out lmao] This got so much longer than anticipated so putting it under the cut ✨✨
🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.
⁃ Fantasy is probably an obvious one, I'm a big fan of fantasy settings especially if it involves dragons. In similar lines when it comes to fantasy, I love looking at I guess common interpretations of mythos/fantasy and seeing what kind of personal spin I can put on it and explore. I think something that is going to explore that most or most blatantly is my original story Crimson (placeholder name) aka unnamed dragon princess and wyvern story to which I'm now bringing a lot of old characters of mine back into as well to really flesh out and explore a self indulgent world. I hope to share more progress on it and the world building in the near future as I flesh out the world before diving back into writing.
⁃ Personal experiences is another, most times I find some event of character interaction that allows me to draw on my personal knowledge and experience for better or for worse. While majority of the time I am writing for myself I still want it to evoke some kind of feeling. Spoilers for Leather and Linen but Atem's death scene, in particular his final moments was drawn from losing my grandfather to cancer. While I wasn't there in his final moments I was informed of certain things and it has always stuck with me. Sometimes these stories are a way for me to make a scene feel more real, or at least try to, I guess other times it's a way for me to immortalize a moment or work through feelings.
⁃ In addition to that most of what I write tackles mental health in some kind of way and also queer experiences and/or romance. Mostly the romance. As a demiromantic I love the progression of relationship and connection and support and falling in love, I find it such a magical thing and enjoy writing about it thoroughly, especially I guess the complexities I myself have gone through as an ace individual although it wasn't really until Leather and Linen too funnily enough I let myself lean hard into the ace experience with Definition of Love which was a little jarring but something I wanna write more of too. Also polyamory whenever I can with my faves lmao looking at Shuraig/Albaz/Ecclesia fic I’m writing atm ahhhhh.
⁃ On less deep notes lol, I think small gestures, particularly hand holding is something that pops up a lot in my stories too. Gentle touches, reassuring touches, if there's and kind of friendship/relationship there's probably touching.
⁃ And many friends would probably hound me if I didn't say I'm a sucker for angst with happy ending. The amount of times I spam the 'I can endure any pain as long as it has meaning' meme is beyond compare haha. I do love me some good angst, but I also don't like being sad at the end of a story so it's gotta be happy (it can be bittersweet) but it has to be happy in some way or I will lose my mind.
⁃ Oh and self sacrifice. I've you've ever seen pullea magi madoka magica, the whole situation of homura going back in time over and over to save madoka. I have a massive bias for this apparently. Intentionally or unintentionally this happens a lot in my writing too.
⁃ Less of a theme and more of a habit, 9 times outta 10 I HAVE to have a floor plan for an area, especially if stuff takes place in a house. It does my head in if I don't know what can be seen from point A in a household if things are happening. I have a whole floorplan for Atem's tomb in Leather and Linen and a floorplan for the Kame Game house for Divine Dragon AU dkfbsjsdg.
There's probably more things but this is already getting super long so we'll leave it here for now :'DD

Good morning I am filled with many emotions
#I'm just gonna go ahead and do a 24 hour recap in the tags or something like that lol#So - yesterday - pretty uneventful excepting Minecraft until about 3PM. Ma comes home and we've been planning to go shopping#And free laptop diagnosing in fact I think we did that first#I talked for most of the car ride because the movement of a car makes my brain to mouth filter disappear it's great very relaxing lol#Oh no wait we went to the bank first and I deposited almost enough money for my new laptop in there yaaaay ;u;#Also there was a surly man in front of me in line who was very unhappy about having to pay for his son's lease??? He was grumpy :(#Luckily my favourite banker there rescued me and we had a casual chat yay#Then we went to the free computer diagnostic and they said ''Yeah we do free ones but it has to be on to run a diagnostic''#So this is the second piece of paper I've put ink to that needed to be thrown away because Nothing Can Be Done#So yeah that one's dead lol I get to look up YouTube videos on how to take this bad boy apart#The woman there was very nice tho she gave me hints and tips on how to take it apart without smashing it and also looked for a short#-cut because apparently older models had a removable external harddrive lol wouldn't that be just too easy#We went shopping and ma bought be another one of those nice-paged notebooks (and a book and one of those cooking brushes)#So now I'm all set when I inevitably fill up this one with church floorplans! Lol#Then we came home and watched YouTube videos for like two hours and I finally stumbled to bed at like 10 or 11 and woke up something like 7#And I just watched Dan's new video and am filled with emotions#So yeah pretty good!#Oh and my Admiral ZEX picture is getting lots of notes thank you#And I watched some old personal YT videos and got filled with soft melancholy ;u;

And if anyone is wondering, I'm using the floorplan for the former No. 41 Grovesner Square found here:
https://www.british-history.ac.uk/survey-london/vol40/pt2/pp117-166#h3-0051
For the posh!Sirius with bonus happy Kreacher content AU.
Very handy site. Also you cannot make me believe the Blacks had some pokey town house. Oh no, Sirius and Regulus used to sneak into the ballroom and slide about in stocking feet.
In case you can't use the link:

What do you mean by post-game house? :s
oh , OH sorry !!
thats just me being flippant about my own ideas like people know what im talking about at all times lol
basically, i was originally just gonna do one art piece for Link's house in Breath of the Wild - but me being me - after about 4 seconds i decided to make it complicated for myself :L
i completed this isometric work a few weeks ago of what Link's house looks like as its represented in game, because i wanted to practice making (and key part: finishing) isometric art again ...
[insert some waffling about worldbuilding]
simply put, Link's house doesn't match it's floor plan - which is fine !! the design of the house in Hateno is for specific uses by the player !! .... but WHAT IF IT DID THOUGH
so when ive (at least mostly) done the things im working on now, i'll be backtracking to house art where i'm going to kind of smush a few worldbuilding ideas into one.
FIRST and most immediate is to have a house that matches the floor plan lmfao ... this is actually pretty easy to fix since Link's house footprint is a clone of one from the other side of Hateno that DOES fit the floor plan, and it's very cute. this is also partially dictated by like ... living needs lmfao like washrooms and functional kitchens ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
SECOND, that while on his travels i refuse to believe Link didn't hoard weird trinkets and other junk !! look at his fuckn inventory the lad just magpies everything lol ... cool rock from the top of a mountain? nice. cute pot plant from Lurelin ? yes. funky little Goron board game ? of course. wood-bound Rito recipe book with feathers on the bookmark ? absolutely. literally anything he could reasonably salvage from Zelda's quarters ? without question.
THIRD, which also kind of plays into the second, as it stands we kind of have to assume that the most logical thing after BotW would be for Zelda to just ?? go stay with Link ??? even if she wants to get to working things out right away she needs a minute to deal with like ... everything .... its not even from a shippy standpoint, i mean she could theoretically stay with Impa but her closest bond is to Link, and Purah lives in the same town sooo ??? what would it look like with her stuff there too ?? not that i'd imagine she would have a lot of stuff but yano ... something for her to do when she's relaxing, her clothes, her notes, a few bits of scavenged ancient Sheikah junk to muck around with ... Just Zelda's Stuff ;3;
so yeah ... post-game house .... Link's Hateno house but with evidence of use throughout and after BotW :')
right now im probably gonna do a floorplan D&D style and also another isometric because im an unstoppable gremlin har har har watch me GO

So it's about time I post sketches of what the intervention room looked like
The intervention room was a sensory deprivation room my elementary school had for the special needs classroom. It was a punishment for disobedience, violent behavior, and general shitty attitude. I spent nearly 1000 hours of my life in the intervention room. I was put in there for disobeying, arguing, getting angry, not doing work, falling asleep, and more. You were held up by the arms, tossed into a corner, had all of your things taken away (shoes, jewelry, glasses, etc.), and then told to calm down. If you didn't calm down in the amount of time they wanted you to, you were put in the isolation booth; which most of my time was spent there.
This is what the room looked like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I definitely overestimated the space in that room when making this floorplan graph. It was extremely tiny. It was about half the size of a typical classroom. There was padding on most of the walls, tape on the floors to tell you were not to cross, and a single clock. Which I remember having the teacher cover up the clock with a piece of paper because I was "using it too much". The door to the hallway was covered in paper too. I guess they didn't want the neurotypical kids finding out about their borderline illegal system.
Anyways, here's what the isolation booth looked like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I definitely gave my POV way too much space. It was far smaller than I made it out to be. But yeah, it's basically a closet but with blank, hard walls and a lockable the door. That door was HEAVY too. They would lock it until I calmed down. But then when it was time for me to leave the isolation booth, they unlocked it. But they would make ME open the door. Bitch, you made me sit in this tiny room for three hours, took away my lunch because it was a privilege I had to earn, and you expect my tiny arms to push this fucking door open?? Look at me:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm malnourished as fuck thanks to you guys.
Also, using the restroom was a privilege. I had childhood encompresis, which means I held in my waste. My encompresis started when I was 3, I enrolled into the special needs program when I was 6, the permanent damage on my digestive system started when I was 8, and I didn't start falling apart until I was 12. It all adds up.
Anyways this is what it looked like and now you know
Oh wait i forgot one detail the only outdoor window in the room was at the back of the room on the upper wall
Tumblr media
It was tiny and typically covered with paper
Anyways that's about it
Send me an ask if ya have a question about this I'll answer i get questions about this a lot so I'm ok with answering them at this point

IT'S AUGUST!
You guys, we're just a short walk to the "ber" months! If this month zips by like the last couple, we'll be smack dab in September before we know it! I love that. I 'm not wishing my life away, but I sure am wishing this summer away. With Tennessee still at a 30-something percent vaccination rate, we haven't really gone anywhere or done anything. No baseball games, no festivals, no fun. Sure, we're vaccinated but that shot is meant to keep us from severe COVID, hospitalization, and death. I don't want it at all. I've got friends who had it, never ended up in the hospital, but months later are still battling symptoms. No thanks. Soooo, on Saturday night we got real fancy and picked up a sack of Taco Bell and went to the drive-in to see Jungle Cruise. The movie was bad, but the company was excellent and the nachos were delicious. No regrets.

What can I say? I'm a cheap date. Before I forget- I've had some questions about the refrigerator pickles. Yes, they were a success. When the first jar was ready for the frig I had the mister taste one and critique the flavor. He said there wasn't enough of a vinegar bite. I added an extra tablespoon of vinegar to each jar and after that he deemed them perfect. In fact, he's enjoyed them so much that he's mowed through the whole batch (4 jars). Today I'll be picking and pickling some more. After that I may pull up the cucumber plants. They're starting to look like they've lived a good life. Besides, IT'S AUGUST. We're nearly finished with summer! Can I get an amen? The bell peppers still have plenty of production time, I've had a pretty good crop and there are still lots of baby peppers on the plants. I'll give them a stay of execution for now. I've been at my desk making cards again. No special occasions, just nonsense.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Today I plan to make one for someone special who is battling health issues and maybe a couple of back-to-school cards for teacher friends. It would be kinder just to send them haz-mat suits. That's it, you're all caught up on the fast-paced life we're living - drive-ins, pickles, and paper crafts. In about three weeks we'll mask up and FLY to Baltimore. This will be the first time I've been on a plane since February of 2020. Holy cow! Eighteen months feels like a lifetime. Anyway, we've got a meeting with a builder, we plan to visit a couple more towns that we missed the first time we went exploring, and hopefully, HOPEFULLY make a final decision of some sort - even if it's just agreeing on a spot. We've had zoom meetings with the builder and have been going over floorplans and options - I'm still not convinced it's our wisest choice. I'd love a sparkling new home with hand-picked finishes, but there are a lot of hidden costs. We built this house in 1999 and it was all pretty straight forward and we knew exactly what we were getting for our sale price. This time around everything is an "option". Oh, you want a light above the kitchen island? That's another $800. What's that, you want steps to the front porch? We can do that for $1800. Every extra window is $500 or more, and (surprise!) most rooms only have one. The optional stone fireplace is $7,000. They don't sound like much one at a time, but added together it's a bundle. Buying finishes through the builder is very convenient, but far more costly. The same granite or quartz kitchen counters the builder will install are a thousand dollars more than Lowe's or Home Depot - the very same granite! And you know darn well that the builder is buying them at a contractor's price. The catch is that you must have a countertop in order to close. So if you have them install a basic laminate and choose to replace it with granite of your choosing, then you're paying the new installers extra to remove and haul away the laminate that you didn't want in the first place. Ugh. We've also remembered that we are not HOA people. The neighborhood we are considering is really lovely - it sits on a golf course (we don't golf) and has a community pool, fitness center, etc. Of course, there's a fee for all of that. That fee also includes trash pickup and lawn maintenance. Mickey would never mow again! He likes that. BUT, and for me this is a big but, they control every shrub or tree you might want to plant. No trees with a trunk diameter over 12 inches. They also hit you for $650 every January for maintenance of water and sewer. They're on public sewer and water, so I'm not sure what that covers. Of course, we can always purchase a lot elsewhere and build on that, but odds are that would entail having a well and septic put in and I am not a fan of that at all. The allure of building is that we could control the timeline (pretty much). If we broke ground in September or October could list our house in the spring and make our move. That gives us time to book a moving company and have a schedule that doesn't create panic. Our other options are to keep scouring real estate and jump on a house that meets our needs, list our house, close on our house and the new house in a timely manner, cross our fingers we can hire a reputable moving company on short notice, and drive to Maryland with two cats...or...list our house, close, hire a moving company, drive to Maryland with two cats, put everything in storage, rent a place until we find what we love, then hire movers again to get everything from storage to the new place. I'll be honest, the worst part of both scenarios is the idea of driving with two cats. They may have to be drugged. I'm currently liking this house in Ocean Pines. It's a little wonky-looking, but the interior and the lot are appealing (that dappled shade is perfect for hydrangeas!). I'm crazy about that screened room. https://www.homesnap.com/homes/for_sale/MD/Ocean-Pines/p_(21,21266)/c_38.381705,-75.146285/z_12/m_7,107492455 I've
already decorated it in my mind. It's 5 miles from the beach, the community has 5 pools ( 1 indoor), tennis courts, pickleball courts, walking trails, playgrounds, etc. No hidden fees. Every Saturday there's a farmer's market, and everything we'd need from a good hospital to Home Goods is nearby. The biggest drawback is that it's two hours from the grandgirl. Two hours is much better than our current eleven hours but that's definitely not the easy drop-in we'd hoped for. Arrgh! They'll just have to move. Ha! Alright, I've dumped my brain out on here and I'll leave you to pick through the mess and make sense of it. I have to run out to mail a box, then I'll feed the mister, fold some laundry, and make a couple cards. That's kind of a terrific Tuesday. No complaints from me. Besides, we're now just 89 days from Halloween! The stores have had fake pumpkins out since mid-July, they know the way to my heart. One more reason not to buy a lot outside of a neighborhood- no trick-or-treaters! Can you imagine if this was to be my last official Halloween? Tragedy! Gotta' run. Stay safe. stay well, and be kind to each other. XOXO, Nancy
