[A MewTube video from Team Curiosity's official channel is attached. The title is "TCBFSC—Professor Theodore Hazel: Honey Tree Cultivation
Transcript:
Professor Theodore enters the stage in his wheelchair. He seems in better spirits than usual, but still very tired as he approaches the lowered podium with a script held in his hands. A Slowking follows close by, keeping a close eye on him as he clears his throat and begins his speech, looking off to the side of the stage and smiling for a moment before continuing. The Slowking has to flip the mic on before Theo starts speaking.
Theodore: Hello, everyone. My name is Professor Theodore Hazel, but y'all can call me Theo if you want. My primary study is pokeagriculture, and seeing as I've lived in Sinnoh for a while, I figure I'd tell you all about honey trees. My lovely wife, Marianne, she introduced me to these trees decades back, and I've been studying their cultivation ever since.
The Slowking takes the remote to the projector and turns on the presentation. The slide shows a grove of honey trees, all with different pokemon clinging to them. There are swarms of Combee present, a few Burmy hanging from the trees, and even a Munchlax eating a fistful of honey in the shade.
Theodore: Now, honey trees are vital to the Sinnohan ecosystem. They have a symbiotic relationship with the plants around them, and specifically with the native Combee and Vedpiquen. Like evergreen trees, they are in leaf year-round, and their leaves produce a scent that draws in pokemon that will sharpen their claws on the tree.
The Slowking turns to the next slide. It's a piece of honey tree bark being held up so the side is displayed. On the back is some sort of yellow-brown slimy substance.
Theodore: Just beneath the surface of the bark is this specialized sap. This sap can only be eaten by certain pokemon in Sinnoh, and it compels the pokemon that eat it to set up a territory around the tree. In particular, it's highly effective at attracting Vespiquen.
The next slide is displayed, and it shows a honey tree with a Vespiquen hive in it. The Combee all seem on alert, defending their tree with angry stares.
Theodore: The Vespiquen, see, they're vicious things. They stake their claim and they do not let anything else get near it. I found that out the hard way once. Got a little too close to one of these trees while I was out doing some field work and got chased for miles. I had to-
The Slowking taps Theodore's arm, trying to get him back on track. He seems startled for a moment, then sheepishly stops rambling.
Theodore: I'll spare you the stories. The long and short of it is, these little fellas will rip apart anything that comes into range. Now, the trees will stop producing their scent in response to Vespiquen pheromones, but they will not stop producing their sap. This sap feeds the hive, and in return, the hive defends the tree from any other species that might come by to eat the sap or the leaves.
The Slowking turns to the next slide. It's a honey tree on the edge of a farm. Theo seems to relax at the sight, smiling warmly at the image.
Theodore: Now, this here is a farm closer to our headquarters. Many farms like this one keep a Vespiquen hive handy to defend and pollinate their crops—the olive groves in Paldea are a shining example. However, the farms here in Sinnoh tend to use honey trees rather than box hives. This might seem a bit counterintuitive seeing as some of the species the tree can attract are crop pests, but like I said, Vespiquen are nasty little buggers.
The next slide shows a swarm of Combee tailed by a Vespiquen. They seem to be scouting the fields around the tree, and a few of them are mercilessly attacking a Starly and a Wurmple as they try desperately to escape.
Theodore: The fact is, these trees don't just give the Vespiquen shelter. They give her a food source. And...
He pauses for a moment, seeming to draw a blank in the middle of his script. The Slowking by his side touches his arm again, the gem on its head glowing as Theo snaps out of it.
Theodore: Sorry, lost my train of thought. Like I was saying, the Vespiquen and Combee will defend a food source to the death. So, the Combee go and pollinate the fields, spot an unfamiliar pokemon, drive it out, then report the intruder back to the Vespiquen. She'll then scout the fields and wipe out any threats to the tree—which includes all pest species.
The next slide is displayed. It's a farmer with a Roserade by his side. He's picking in the fields while the Roserade stands guard.
Theodore: Of course, this would include us. So, as a precaution, the farmers here usually have partner pokemon to stand guard while they harvest their crops. Roserade are a popular choice due to their sweet scent that disarms the Vespiquen and can keep them from recognizing the farmer as an invader. The danger is worth it for the farmers, though, as the yield from these crops tends to be fair higher and of better quality than those on non-tree farms. Plus, they don't ever need to use insecticides. Arc have no wrath like a Vespiquen with a meal.
Theodore chuckles, and the Slowking shuts off the slide. He then wheels his way back to the center of the stage, followed closely by the Slowking.
Theodore: Thank you all for listening to this old man's ramblings. You're all very kind. I've arranged for some fresh fruits from one of the local honey tree farms to be distributed near the book tables after the presentation, so maybe you can get a more hands-on understanding there. Everyone give a thank you to Athena here for helping me along today, and I hope you kind folk have a great rest of your day.

Pokemart PR Disaster -! Breaking Update !
Emergency services were called to a Pokemart Inc management building an hour ago to respond to an explosion. Eyewitnesses claim that a pelipper wearing an official Pelipper Mail courier uniform dropped off a parcel into the mail room. Conflicting reports claim the parcel contained either a voltorb or a ghastly.
Seconds later, there was an explosion that the official Rotomblr account of the company reported 'injured 8 employees', some possibly fatally.
This comes about as crimes committed against Pokemarts around the world spikes in retaliation to the disappearance of the former Rotomblr account manager. Anonymous sources claim that over ¥P5 billion has been lost from the company because of shoplifting, vandalism, and boycotts. Unknown addition value has been lost as both the Sinnohan and Galarian Pokemon Leagues have publicly stated their intentions to remove Pokemarts from official endorsement.

warning. longpost. very long longpost.
so.... au idea. The Nimbasa Trio are all ballet dancers, with Elesa being the prima ballerina and Ingo and Emmet both being ballerinos. However, all three learn the whole dance, so anyone can take any part.
All three of them make up their troupe, and others are learning to dance with them- the protags would be mostly. Skyla is their manager, Drayden keeps them on a tight leash, and they're traveling out of region for a ballet competition in Sinnoh- a prestigious event, one they've been longing to compete in for a long, long time. They arrive in Sinnoh about four months before the actual expo, invited to perform at venues across the region before the official event. Elesa is the prima ballerina of the Nimbasa Trio, and the one who's been dancing the longest. She used to hate dance class, tired with the endless manner lessons and poise and necessary quiet she needed to have. This changed, however, when two quiet twins transfered into her class. They became close friends, going through en pointe training together, and all three decided to strike out together. She makes their uniforms and helps the boys with trickier moves.
Ingo is one of the two ballerinos of the Nimbasa Trio, and he and his twin were transfered into their lifelong friend's, Elesa's, ballet class during their youth. This started their journey, and all of them stuck together through all their lessons. He's more proficient with en pointe than Emmet is, yet is worse at bearing weight than his twin is. He takes care of cooking most days, and helps Emmet to launder their uniforms after long days.
Emmet is the other and last ballerino in the Trio. He's not as good with going en pointe, but he does have shoes for if he has to. Emmet's strength lies in his physical strength- he's the one who's able to pick up and throw his brother or Elesa for high leaps in choreography.
Tumblr media
The Pearl Clan is an up and coming Sinnohan ballet school, with many students participating to learn how to dance. The only ballerinas and ballerinos in the Pearl Troupe, however, are the best of the best in their classes.
Lian is one of the most proficient young ballet dancers in the Pearl Clan. He was allowed to follow the Troupe along on tour, and will follow them to the Sinnohan Ballet Expo. He will have minor parts in the choreo, but he aches to have a fuller part after he proves his skills in the Expo.
Irida is just barely 18 and already a very skilled pointe dancer. She can't be called a ballerina yet- she doesn't have the skill needed for that title yet- but she's on a steady road to it. She's in a stubborn rivalry with Adaman, the leader of a rival troupe and an equally skilled dancer.
Gaeric is a ballerino, and he's the male lead of the Troupe's dancers. Where Lian is heading, Gaeric has the responsibility of spotting the prima ballerina of the Troupe during dance, catching her and making sure she stays safe. If something goes wrong midair, he's the one to catch her.
Palina is the prima ballerina of the Pearl Troupe, and she's the most senior of the group- and the tallest. She keeps everyone in line with team manager Calaba's help, and makes sure everyone is on track to improve the best they can.
When crossing Mt. Coronet, going to a nearby venue they're performing at, the Pearl Troupe finds an interesting sight. A man, crumpled on the road, in a ripped dance uniform and with a broken, crumbled car almost on top of him. Calaba was at the venue, keeping their hotel room for them, and they had the van. There was no phone, no I.D.- there could have been one in the broken car, but Palina didn't trust anyone to not get injured on shards of metal or glass. They'll bring the stranger along, she decided, and they'd launder his uniform, and they'd have Calaba help him because they were closer to their venue than any hospital, and they'd find whoever he came with.
...
His name was Ingo. He... danced. He did some sort of dance, that he remembered. But when he looked at his bound and cast wrist, looked at the bandages wrapping his head in the mirror, let the young adult help him across the room as people murmured behind him.... his mind fell short.
Tumblr media
At the venue, Emmet bit his lip, trying in vain to connect to Ingo. They performed in 15 minutes, and his brother was still not here.
It would be three months before he saw him again.

The Old Chateau - History and Overview
Eterna Forest's Old Chateau (dubbed in recent years by the locals as Mori no Yōkan (森の洋館)) is a sprawling estate situated in the north of the forest, nestled within large throngs of evergreen trees. The style of the manor is perplexing, mirror the architectural style of buildings commonly found overseas in regions like Unova or Galar.
Though a lot of the history of the family that built their mansion there has been lost to time, the style of the building makes sense upon learning of the family's overseas origin. They moved over to Sinnoh by boat, seeking to expand their business in an outside market.
This family, however, was besmirched and cursed by their own misfortune.
The boat ride over had been treacherous, as choppy waters and rough waves unlike any seen before battered the ship. It nearly capsized a couple of times, but fortunately remained righted as they made their first step into the Sinnoh region. With ungodly amounts of wealth, they were able to predetermine where they wanted their new estate built before they had even touched down on the land, having planned it all out long before they officially arrived.
Enough of the mansion had been built already for them to live in at the time, though by the time the manor had actually been finished in the early 1940's, tragedy struck.
The family dined separately from their staff of butlers and maids, and one of their rather old butlers had suffered a fatal heart attack during dinner. It happened right at the table, killing him before anyone could even think to move and help.
Since that day, both the family and the staff saw strange happening in the dining room. An apparition of this ghostly butler often seen sitting in the very place he died, sometimes moving towards the kitchen area. Upon entering, he was nowhere to be found, but the area took on an unmistakable chill.
This would not be the last of their misfortunes. The husband of the family would go on to have an affair with a woman from his now failing business - a secretary - leaving his wife to find out the hard way upon his affair partner becoming pregnant, and then dumping their child on him.
Though his wife was indescribably irate, she would stay, if only for the money.... but it became clear that this treachery had made this a woman most wicked. As the illegitimate daughter would grow older, so would the woman's ire. It was harder to look at the girl and not be reminded of her husband's betrayal.
In a fit of hysteria, one fateful autumn night, the wife would dose her husband's meal with a lethal dose of poison, before locking the illegitimate daughter in an empty, windowless room. With her husband having keeled over within the next few hours of dinner, and the daughter abandoned in a forgotten room, the wife would take the other three children and leave the manor. They left the Sinnoh region entirely, a dead father, a dead daughter, and a dying business left in their wake.
By the time police had arrived to the manor for a wellness check, it was too late. They discovered the body of the husband, sat in a plush chair in the library, eerily still... as if he'd simply fallen asleep, and would wake to return to his reading material at any moment. They discovered the body of the illegitimate daughter next. They took both of the bodies away, and with no way to contact the wife, the manor was condemned and fell quickly into disrepair due to the harsh Sinnohan elements.
The Old Chateau was quickly accosted by various ghost-type pokemon, including a Rotom that quickly overtook the family's old black-and-white television, among other appliances. There was great death in this estate, and the negative feelings and emotions that took hold of the building drew them in in droves.
This forgotten manor became a place of urban myth and legend as well to the locals, with rumors spreading quickly about the ghostly butler, along with the room housing the ghostly spirit of the little girl. In the library where the husband died, there were rumors about a painting with glowing red eyes, and a book that, when moved, housed a secret room behind the shelves.
It's become a frequent spot for teenagers and young adults to take part in 'tests of course' (kimodameshi), though as of late the amount of ghosts and their ferocity has kept many at bay.
In the past decade, the path leading up to the manor had become extremely overgrown with various bushes and small plants, becoming entirely inaccessible to the masses. Perhaps, due to the nature of the manor, that was for the best.

Ingo is gunna have a heck of a time fighting sinnohish (sinnohan?) Law and professionals to keep lady Sneasler, cuz why he was a very professional trainer and facility boss before hand, he's def come back with baggage that is concerning to them.
it'd be one thing if it was at least a varient to an Unovan pokemon like braviary or Zoroark and they could go 'hey we have resources to care for them that you dont'. But that isn't the case. And since, as Ingo worried about, they live in a city and not somewhere open that's similar to Sneasel habitats, it's another point against them.
Cynthia's support will only get them so far if they don't get proper resources to care for the sneasels and DOUBLE so for Lady Sneasler, since she's the ONLY Sneasler alive. Not even just a varient, but a straight up dif pokemon evolution. Emmet, as an officially recognized breeder has pull as well, but uh, fighting foreign diplomats in court over the ownership of what was an extinct pokemon only five days ago gets sticky. (And this is ALSO not helped when people bring up Emmet's own mental struggles following Ingo's disappearance)
Ingo has a lot of support but he's gunna need every bit of it for the coming legal battle

i love getting to teach about ancient sinnohan culture.
i myself am a descendant of both the diamond and pearl clans, and even if i am a part of the pearl clan officially, i know the customs of both clans.
that being said, i also played the celestica flute for the classes that i co-taught yesterday. it's a bit different to play now because my head and face shape changed, but i can still play it! i'm gonna talk about it now.
the celestica flute, despite looking like simple tube, is a very complex instrument. on the inside of the tube is several channels, many of them intersecting and interconnected. what you play on it changes from your air speed, direction, and mouth position. it can range from bing easier to play to extremely hard.
i've been having to relearn the instrument recently, if you couldn't tell.

<- officially 'arrested' for her Galactic involvement...and then swiftly released days later with total immunity from the Sinnohan courts.
The woman formerly known as JUPITER has always had a way with words, and Interpol was so desperate for any crumb of information surrounding Galactic's operations. It was a pathetic display, really...she had the hot-headed interrogators wrapped around her finger in a matter of minutes.
While she kept her closest colleagues' involvement under wraps (you're welcome, Mars & Saturn), Jupiter was more than happy to spoon-feed the police Charon's reputation along with other juicy Galactic secrets. For a price, of course. (Interpol was so hungry, so hasty, that they readily agreed to the former Commander's terms without thinking twice. They snapped up every morsel that she fed them, unaware that they just freed a monster with simple strokes of a pen.)

Consequences? Jupiter, now ERIS EVANS, doesn't know--and has never--known them.

Sicktember 2023 Day 4
Prompt: Hiding an Illness
Fandom: P.okémon
Characters: L.ucian, Cyn.thia
Wordcount: 1,648
Notes: TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAAAAYYY
It was said that love had the power to render anyone a fool. And Lucian, who was no fool, found himself startled when his faculties left him in the face of wild-eyed passion. It really was a testament to how far he’d fallen that he jumped at the chance to see Cynthia again after only a month apart.
But what a long month it had been.
She’d left for Galar with a burning kiss to Lucian’s lips and a promise in her fingertips, a promise that still tingled on his cheek when he thought of her.
Communication was sparse, silences were long, nights were lonely. She was busy, he knew, and he had exploits with which to occupy himself, but her absence followed him.
So when he woke up ill to the point of nausea with a message on his phone, he rushed in like a fool to meet her.
Now, the murmur of the cafe buzzed in his aching head, and Lucian was absolutely certain he was going to throw up before this date ended.
If you could call it a date; really, it was more of an academic exercise and an excuse to take in Cynthia’s silvery shine. The same headache that had plagued him since late last night still pounded in his temples, its fury redoubled in the light of day, but the fact remained that Lucian would never say no to Cynthia. She'd asked him to come, so he came. It really was as simple as that. He was going to do this no matter how awful he felt.
Unfortunately, he felt very awful.
Oblivious to this, Cynthia fussed with the papers she'd printed, laying them out in neat arcs across the café table. They'd gotten their drinks in paperboard to-go cups to save space and still, the corners of the papers brushed against them, bending.
Lucian took a deep breath through his nose.
Every few seconds, spectral nails buried themselves in his skull and twisted wickedly. Pressure flared up in his stomach, respond to the pain with a dangerous promise of future violence.
But Cynthia was warm beside him and every so often, she would touch his hand or rest her chin on his shoulder, and he would endure all the pain in the world for a few stolen moments with her.
Even if it meant eventually falling to his knees and vomiting in a café bathroom.
"Done," Cynthia said. She scooted closer to Lucian and put her arm around him, her eyes fixed on the papers. "What do you think?"
Lucian stared at the papers, but had to wait for the throbbing in his skull to die down before he could make sense of them.
Handwritten Old Galarian stared back up at him and phrases collided in his brain sending showers of sparks racing painfully along his neurons.
"I think I can read… some of this," he said slowly. "Although I can't guarantee any real accuracy."
"That's okay," Cynthia said a little too quickly. It was a testament to how excited she was that she reiterated a point she had made earlier on the phone: "It's not for anything official; I'm waiting for the professional translation to come in, but that could take months."
Lucian nodded and immediately regretted it. He shifted a little and rested a hand on his belt, applying gentle pressure to his stomach. "You said this is an account of the first documented meeting between Sinnohan and Galarian tribes?"
"Allegedly," Cynthia said. "We always have to be cautious when it comes to bombshell discoveries like this, but it certainly appears authentic." She drummed her fingers on one of the papers and Lucian smiled despite himself. She was excited.
"I'm not terribly familiar with Old Galarian," he started. Pain shot through his temples like someone had stabbed him and he had to stop and breathe through it, lips parted. His breaths displaced some of the papers and Cynthia slapped her palms down to keep them from flying away.
He flinched at the sound and she noticed, rounding on him with furrowed brow. "Are you okay?"
Lucian forced himself to relax. His stomach rolled, but he didn't dare do anything to soothe it now, not with Cynthia's eyes on him. "Just thinking," he said with a calm he did not feel, and gestured to the paper on the upper right of the table. "This one is just establishing the year and the location, I think. Kingdom of Galar, year of the…" He squinted. "Year of the Snail?" He looked at Cynthia for some sort of guidance.
She frowned. "I don't know what that could possibly mean."
He smiled at her. "Good thing you're not paying me for this."
He struggled through the rest of the papers, pausing occasionally to dig his fingertips into his knees or subtly press a flat hand to his stomach. His body crawled toward the inevitable climax, pain and nausea growing stronger with each gentle pulse.
His lapsing focus kept landing on the thought of his bed, pillows cool and Cynthia warm beside him. How nice it would feel to close her eyes and let her run her nails over his skin.
He hadn't had that in so long, not since she'd gotten that fateful call from Lenora in Galar and promptly taken off. It had been weeks since they'd shared a bed.
Even now, Cynthia had come straight from the airport with her copy of the documents, bright-eyed despite the jet lag.
Lucian shot to his feet in a panic when the sharp tang of impending illness invaded his mouth. Every difficult swallow brought forth another flood of brackish saliva.
It wasn't the subtle exit he'd been hoping to make. His knees slammed the table. His untouched coffee sloshed onto the papers, brown spots blooming on the text.
"Lucian?" Cynthia touched his elbow. "What's wrong?"
"I…" His stomach clenched. Oh, he'd done this all wrong and he really didn't have time to explain. "E-excuse me for a moment."
His skull caved in somewhere on the way to the bathroom, pressure-pain cracking the bones like balsa wood. His vision narrowed and narrowed and narrowed and his stomach throbbed and throbbed and throbbed. Breaths struggled to squeeze through his tightening throat and the slamming of the door echoed off the tiled walls.
His trembling fingers slipped off the lock, but it was officially too late to do anything to it.
His knees collided with the hard tile, and the jolt shot through his body. He doubled over and retched.
At least it was quick.
He held himself up with one hand, held his glasses in place with the other. A warm flood of vomit rushed past his lips and he closed his eyes, spitting out the sour aftertaste.
And that was it.
He flushed the toilet and sat back, bracing both hands against the floor. What was he going to do now? He had to tell Cynthia something. But what?
It seemed so maddeningly juvenile to shuffle out with his head down, metallic taste of sink water on his tongue, and tell her, like a child, that he'd been sick in the bathroom. That he'd foolishly tried to master his body. That he wanted.
Yes, that was the worst of all, the real truth of the matter that sat like shattered glass in his stomach: that he'd let this happen because he wanted to spend time with her. That he'd defied all logic and reason for a few stolen minutes in a café even though it meant surrendering his control.
Because he wanted, very clearly wanted her more than she wanted him.
And now he felt sick again.
But now was the time to own up to his shortcomings. He couldn't leave Cynthia sitting there alone. Wondering. So he heaved himself to his feet and rinsed his mouth and washed his hands with water that tasted of iron and soap that smelled of chemicals. And he squared his shoulders. And he walked.
Nobody stared at him. Conversations continued on, melting with the gentle acoustic music playing from the speakers. Everything carried on, and that was a small comfort. Phantoms pains pounded at his temples, urging him home to bed.
He ignored them. He went to her.
"Lucian." Cynthia dragged him down into the booth and sat across from him, reaching over to feel his forehead and his cheeks. "Are you sick?"
Heat bloomed in his cheeks and he knew Cynthia felt the sudden change. She studied him with a grave expression, her hand still on his cheek.
"No," he said hesitantly. Her expression turned hard and he amended, "Not exactly."
Suddenly, he couldn't bear Cynthia's eyes on him. He shrank away, crossed his arms over his chest.
"Come on, Lucian," she said gently. "What aren't you telling me?"
Oh, she made it so easy for him. Easier than he deserved. He reached out for her hand and tangled their fingers together, papers wrinkling under his arm. Why did he have to make it so hard for himself? "My head hurts," he admitted quietly.
"Do you want to go home?"
He shook his head and looked at her. "I wanted to see you. I want—" That was it. The whole truth. "I want you, Cynthia."
She softened and kissed the back of his hand. "Let's go home," she said, "together."
Lucian's apartment was quiet and dim, as it always was. And though it was still early afternoon, he changed into his pajamas and let Cynthia put him to bed.
She sat beside him and ran her fingers through his hair, her fingernails tracing gentle lines along his skin.
"I missed you, Cyn," Lucian murmured. "I'm sorry I… Well…"
She shushed him gently and ran a hand over his eyes. "We don't have to talk about it right now, baby. Get some rest."
And who was he to disobey?

@distortsverity sent:  “ . . . hey barry. who would you say deserves the stars? ” her left arm’s stretched out above her — a finger tracing tiny circles around sirius, the brightest light in the moonless night sky ( of course hikari’s drawn to it. she likes to pretend she can grasp it, sometimes ). just had to break the silence with an inane question, didn’t she?“ strange thing to ask outta nowhere, i know. ” an airy laugh. “ so i’ll go first. whoever reaches out the farthest for them and keeps reaching out, no matter how badly their arms ache. ” her arm’s growing tired, but she continues tracing circles. sirius will be hers, one day.
Verity is especially calm tonight--the lake lies smooth and motionless like a watery mirror, its glassy surface reflecting the sprawling expanse of celestial bodies looming overhead. Barry and Hikari are both present as expected, both lying side by side on the cool, familiar grass. Despite their increasingly busy schedules and diverging responsibilities, they wouldn’t, couldn’t bring themselves to miss out on a moment like this. It’s as if Dialga is watching over them, slowing time’s passage just enough to allow them to experience another moment of refreshing nostalgia, another childhood tradition proudly upheld. Perhaps Palkia is here too, showcasing the best that space has to offer--a beautiful canvas generously sprinkled with faraway galaxy glitter.
Barry sighs softly, a rare feeling of relaxation flooding through his veins as he laces his fingers behind his head and looks skyward with those wide, curious eyes of hazel. Stargazing with Hikari just feels so comfortable, so right.
For once, he doesn’t want to go anywhere.
Who would you say deserves the stars? Hikari’s innocuous question breaks through the sleepy reverie, but Barry doesn’t give her a hard time--Verity’s late night atmosphere often transforms both of them into Sinnoh’s finest philosophers. So instead, he listens with a bemused smile, brow knitting in thought as his attentive gaze follows Hikari’s tracing finger upwards...directly towards Sirius, still the only star that he can locate and name by memory. The Dog Star glimmers with a ultra-bright fervor tonight, shining defiantly against its inky, moonless backdrop.
Tumblr media
"Um, hm...” Barry hums after a moment of thoughtful silence. “Well...” Such a deep question deserves an equally deep response...
You deserve the stars is what he wants to say right away, but--for some reason--his cheeks flush pink and the cheesy declaration dies on his lips. He had watched Hikari go through so much on their eventful first journey together, had watched as she felled Galactic, survived the exploration of an unknowable void, and finally penned her own storybook conclusion by becoming Sinnoh’s undisputed champion. Hell, Hikari could probably reach up from her perch on the region’s veritable summit at any time and touch the stars already. And, as far as Barry’s concerned, his best friend has earned every right to do so.
I deserve the stars is his next thought, almost transitioning into his boastful routine instead...but deep down, he knows that he’d just be lying to himself. Barry still remembers how lost he felt after his painful Lake Acuity defeat to Jupiter, how helpless everything seemed while he struggled in front of the Distortion World entrance just weeks later, Sinnohan officials holding him back before he did something even more reckless. No, even though he had grown up fast--maybe too fast, as they all did back then--he still doesn’t feel ready to make such a bold claim, even as a joke. Not yet.
“...That’s not enough.”
Barry’s blurted words suddenly tumble out of his mouth, accidentally released from his swirling stream of consciousness, and the blond scrambles to elaborate. So much for a deep response.
“...I mean, I think you’re right, Hika...determination is great and all and whoever gets there is most deserving, but just wanting something all by your lonesome isn’t enough.” He turns towards her with a cheeky grin. “You taught me that. Right here where it all began, in Pastoria, in Canalave, at the freaking Pokemon League entrance, and probably a billion gajillion other times. You taught me the same lesson over and over: no matter how badly I wanted to beat you, none of that mattered unless I actually put in some serious work towards that goal, and I couldn’t do it all by myself. Yours and Luc’s support, my ‘mons, even the Teach--everybody helped power me up to where I am now. It’d take a team effort to reach the stars too, I think.”
Barry pauses in the middle of his semi-cathartic ramble to laugh at himself. What is he even saying right now? Does any of this make sense? He glances over at Hikari to gauge her reaction and notices her outstretched finger beginning to tremble as it stubbornly traces the sky. Without thinking, he reaches over and gently supports her aching arm, helping his best friend steady her aim towards Sirius once again.
“I know I probably sound like one of those old space race ads on TV, and I know it probably doesn’t answer your question, but the idea of someone reaching out so hard for the stars all by themselves is kind of a sad picture, y’know? At least for me. I mean, you could reach so much further with just a little help, right? And there’s totally enough stars to share, if you make it together.”
Tumblr media
“...That’s just how I think of it, I guess,” Barry concludes with a sheepish sigh of finality, giving Hikari’s upper arm one last comforting squeeze before flopping back on the grass, a contented expression on his face as he takes in the spatial scenery once again.
“Hey, when I reach the stars someday, I’ll reserve Sirius for ya,” he declares with another grin. “I want dibs on both Dippers though. And maybe some other cool constellations, if I can just remember what Teach called ‘em...”

🎹 😫 🗣 💍 🎤  🎉 for Saturn and Archer perhaps? (If u're still open ofc)
Absolutely!
Meme is here.
🎹  Can they play any instruments?
A: He plays piano very well, and has handled entertainment duty for more than one Rocket event when other plans have fallen through. Or, at least, when he was told that they’d fallen through.
S: A bit of guitar, but he never finds much time to practice so he’s not terribly good at it.
😫 What scares my muse the most?
A: He is acutely aware of how much of the operation is in his hands. So much could be lost (up to and absolutely including his own life) if he were to stagnate, grow complacent, or fail. He’s in a constant state of stress, and routinely loses sleep, over the various operations and operatives that he monitors.
S: He’s very concerned the lake trio will be back to take revenge on him and other ex-members of galactic, and does what he can to appease them. He also has regular nightmares about Giratina.
🗣 Does your muse speak more than one language and if so, which one(s)?
Both are native speakers of their regional variant of Kantonese, so I’ll handle second languages.
A: He’s fluent, though heavily accented, in Galarian. The two languages he can speak are common enough that he can handle nearly all the business he needs to get done without a translator.
S: He’s fluent in the in-universe equivalent to Russian, which is very standard for Sinnohans. If he and Cyrus are ever in a situation where they’re dealing with foreigners, they use that to speak to one another for secrecy because of it's relative rarity.
💍 Does my muse want to get married?
A: He likes the idea of having someone to come home to. But between maintaining his work, team, and body his entire day is spoken for. There’s very little time to fit in other activities, much less to find or maintain a relationship, so he doesn’t spend time thinking about it.
S: He’s desperate to be loved, and will do pretty much anything for someone who promises it. He doesn’t see marriage as a path to that, though, thanks to how volatile his parents’ was.
🎤  Can my muse sing? If they can sing, can they sing well and what it’s like?
A: He sings well, but he’s not very good at projecting his voice. If he’s going to sing at the events he works, he absolutely requires a microphone.
S: He’s ok at best, but he loves karaoke anyway (especially with a few drinks in him).
🎉 What is my muse’s birthday?
(I don’t have dates so I’ll just do sign and traditions)
A: Virgo. He isn’t much for holidays, either official or otherwise. He likewise downplays his birthday to the point where it’s unknown outside of a very small circle of people.
S: Cancer. He blows a lot of money on a good time. He’s typically back in his office with carry out by the end of the night.

(@wingsofachampion) What are strong and agile style moves? I've never heard of them before! -Tropius
im so glad you asked! there’s, like, a lot of speculation and conflicting historical documents on this topic so take most of this with a grain of salt but here’s basically what i was able to find.
the strong and agile style moves are a form of battling arts that originated early 16th century sinnoh (or hisui, as the region was formerly referred as). it continued to be popularized during the 17th and 18th century and peaked around the 19th century, though quickly fell out of popularity once the pokemon league was established in the area. it’s sometimes referred to as move mastery, or 技の皆伝 if you wanna use the original translation.
the technique was mainly based around the idea of switching between tactics that are strong but slow (strong style, or as they were originally called “Force Moves”) or weak but quick (agile style, or as they were originally called “Swift Moves”). battlers who utilized this style would often switch between these move types in order to get a leg up on their opponent, whether by gaining more opportunities to attack with agile moves or by delivering more effective attacks with strong moves. a common strategy i read about was opening with an agile style to give yourself an opening before finishing them off with a strong move that dealt more damage, but there are a lot more philosophies on the technique you can read about online (i’d recommend researching prof. laventon. a lot of his work with the galaxy team expedition has been lost over the years but he has some really interesting analyses on the style. also, he wrote, like, one of the first ever pokedexes, which is insanely cool).
unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your outlook), move mastery has been outlawed pretty much everywhere. once pokemon science got more advanced, we learned that using these techniques took a lot more out of pokemon than regular moves (i believe some math calculated it took about twice as much energy), so once the sinnohan league was officially established and codified this technique was banned pretty much everywhere. after that, it dwindled in popularity to the point where nowadays pretty much nobody knows about it. there are a few dojos scattered here and there, but for the most part its been lost to times. i think they made the right call with outlawing it (pokemon safety always comes first, of course) but tbh i think its kinda weird how, like, this of all things is the battle strat we’ve decided to universally ban. like, people are freely mega-evolving over in kalos and some parts of hoenn and there are pages upon pages of research about how that’s bad for pokemon, but whatever. i dont live there so its not my place to judge.

Hello,
I hope you are all doing lovely today. My name is Prof. Marianne Hazel, but you can call me Marie if you'd like. I specialize in the study of Sinnohan cultural history, including the native Hisui culture. From the fine details of popular legends and myths to what someone may have eaten for breakfast a few thousand years ago, my main goal is to make sure history ain't a mystery! Haha!
I used to lead Team Curiosity with my husband Theo, but he's been under the weather lately. I had to grab that old fool by his collar to get him to step back, but by Arceus I will make him rest one way or another!
We were going to wait until our trainer IDs were renewed before making an official account, but due to recent events, it seems the time to act is now rather than later. I do dearly apologize if it seems like we're hiding our faces here, but the government is slower than a Torterra in a snowstorm when it comes to these things, especially since we're under the Team classification. As our new cards come in, we'll make sure to upload them! We'd hate to leave any of you fine folk in the dark.
In the meantime, we will be doing our best to fight this new wave of misinformation, and all of us except Thrash are currently available for questions. Theo might be a little slow to respond, but he will get there eventually, don't you worry.
I hope you all have a blessed day,
Prof. Marianne Hazel, Leader of Team Curiosity

I love your second chance au so far!! Do you have any other info on it?
! i do indeed!! its pretty much a completed au actually, its timeline is complete, i just didnt have plans to release it All in drawing form since just the parts i posted seemed enough
volo in the present day is a librarian. its a simple quiet job where he doesnt really need to interact with people too much, plus his obsession with research translates into a general love of books so he'll often stay after hours when he's supposed to have closed up just to read. he's still very good at the whole fake nice guy act so his few co-workers love him and think he's the best senior the library's ever had but he's sitting there like "they don't know i tried to end the world once"
i havent thought about his team much but i imagine to lower suspicion and not draw attention to himself he strays from using the same pokemon as cynthia. he's already been asked if he's related to her a few times and he's just had to try pass it off as a coincidence so people stopped asking. he keeps using the togepi line though they're his lil buddies and he adores them actually
the au's timeline is simple. volo gathers together emmet, barry and dawn to go find a way to reach hisui to bring back ingo and lucas so that volo doesnt have to keep seeing their names pop up and get reminded of how he Failed so bad at his original plan. its just salt in the wound to keep seeing lucas's face after volo vowed all those years ago to keep trying to meet arceus, but he still hasnt succeeded 200 years on.
at first, volo tells them barely anything. he doesnt even explain why he knows ingo and lucas are stuck in the past. so combined with his grumpiness around them they all initially distrust him, especially emmet who's just become a cool uncle and was trusted to protect barry and dawn. this trio's general cheeriness eventually rubs off on even volo and he cant help softening up after a while of traveling. thats where the guilt sets in for him, really slowly, he doesnt even realize he's getting too attached for his own good until its too late and now suddenly he's starting to develop Empathy again. so eventually he'll at least say he's from an ancient sinnohan lineage that granted him immortality and thats why he knows where ingo and lucas are. hard to believe at first but also dawn remembers that one story about the immortal guy in kalos so like. this might as well be happening
they find a way to timetravel eventually, they track down the lake guardians to (safely, unlike team galactic) summon dialga. a little before he lets them go to hisui, its been so long since they started travelling and the guilt's chipped away at him so much he comes clean. admits the whole past ordeal with giratina and why ingo and lucas were taken was because of him - ingo was direct interference since it was his rift that pulled ingo through, and even arceus itself was forced to call the only person strong enough to stop him, lucas, into hisui. he expects them to hate him after that and was fully ready for it but, while they're shocked and angry, they... still want to be friends with him. they've come to understand volo's changed for the better since his hisui days, they've travelled with him long enough to know that for sure and its not just volo being really good at the happy chirpy friendly facade. they dont forgive him for past deeds, i mean can you really excuse trying to wipe out the Entire Universe, but they at least give him a much needed second chance (roll credits)
emmet, barry and dawn get to reunite with ingo and lucas, everyone goes home. from there i was actually tossing up two ways volo could go: one becoming a researcher again, maybe moving to other regions to help out there. the other becoming a pokemon trainer, pokemon journeys are all about broadening your horizons and connecting with others so volo could benefit from it probably. also cmon he has three friendship evolution pokemon, even if he used to call himself a "wielder" he probably actually cares about his pokemon a lot very deep down. maybe emmet even invites him to be a special guest final opponent on the multi trains with him sometimes.

❛  is there a reason you’re here on your own ?  ❜
*  ―  𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐌𝐄𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒. | accepting!
Dawn had come to Johto on a whim, like she usually did. With Sinnoh's circuit starting to cool off - much like the region's weather - Dawn was allowed much more free time. Quite often, she would travel to Johto on behalf of the League. This time, she was visiting as a tourist, for once. The region allowed her to get more in touch with her Hisuian roots, the traditional atmosphere feeling welcome for the Sinnohan.
Her head turned as a voice caught Dawn's attention. It was one she'd heard a few times in the past. Belonging to Blackthorn's Leader, Clair was a temperamental force in interregional League meetings. Dawn knew her to be ruthless towards the press and media, carrying a bite that made you want to leave her alone.
In a way, Dawn could admire that.
Tumblr media
"Not any official reason." She replies, fully turning towards the other woman. "I'm here for personal reasons, really. It's been a while since I've been to Johto on my own time." Take in the sights, visit her favorite onsen, battle some trainers...
"Bet it's weird seeing me without a couple of League admins tailing me." Dawn would never understand why they did such a thing. Her eyes stay on Clair's, the corners of her lips moving into a small smile. "Clair, right?"

Examine! Spear Pillar
Send “Examine!” and an item or person and I’ll write an RPG description of it/them. // Always Accepting tbh
Well…there it is. You’re steps away from your destination.
Spear Pillar. Legends call this place the ‘Point of Creation.’ Legends say that Dialga and Palkia were born here…and with them, the Sinnoh region.
Tumblr media
You’ve been here two times before. The second time you were here,  it wasn’t for long. The portal Giratina had left behind threatened to distort reality, and there was no time to waste.
The first time, well….better not dwell on it. For all intents and purposes, that event never quite happened, anyway.
So, why were you here now?
Check your Bag?>[YES][NO]
You check the bag, as if reassuring yourself that the item is still there. It is; it’s hard to miss the pulsating aura in your backpack, but actually seeing the item nestled in there brought…you don’t know. Comfort? Anticipation?
The legends state that Dialga will appear to people who take the Adamant Orb to Spear Pillar.
Proceed?>[YES][NO]
When you reach the platform, you immediately notice the blue rift. How could you not? You remember clearly; that was where Dialga had been when Cyrus summoned them and Palkia.
Slowly, you approach the rift and observe it. On the other side, you think you can see a different world. Different from that place; shades of blue dance in its depths.
It’s odd how familiar that rift looks; probably an indicator of which legendary would be waiting within. You can feel its power, even from here. Would it come out? Or was it watching you, wanting to see what you would do? You’re almost certain you can feel its eyes on you.
Tumblr media
It’s at this moment that you start to reconsider. You almost wish that Dialga had appeared on its own, because…you can’t bring yourself to make that step. You can’t even begin to describe what you’re feeling right now.
So many questions. Of course, you know what happened to you, but does Dialga? Do they have knowledge of what happened in different timelines, or does a Dialga exist for every timeline? Would there be any way for you to know why it happened, or was it just pure circumstance that Roar of Time hit you the way it did?
What would you even say to them?
Turn back?>[YES][NO]
You can’t. You just can’t do it, and as you turn back to place the Adamant Orb back where it was, you’re ashamed.
Tumblr media
You hate yourself for every step you take, from Spear Pillar, to the cavern where the Orbs were, all the way back to the Center in Veilstone.
