Episode 9: Campus Chats

Matt was excited to start his first semester at Foxbury. Like his older brother Paul, he was a Biology major. Matt, an animal lover through and through, had his sights set on becoming a veterinarian. Matt and Paul are only a year apart and they started school the same year due to how their birthdays fell. People often mistook them for twins, which they might as well have been, close as they were.

Since he lived off-campus, Matt was worried he'd feel disconnected from the college experience. He decided he would hang around campus for a bit after his classes to see Paul and meet some of the other students.

Paul introduced him to some of the other students who lived in the dorms. Jamie seemed excited to interact with Paul, and Matt wondered if there was a potential love connection. It was hard to tell how his brother felt. Despite their closeness, Paul could be a bit guarded when it came to his personal life.

After Paul left for class, Matt stopped by the cafeteria to say hello to his best friend Santos who was working there. Matt's boundless optimism was a stark contrast to his friend's pessimistic nature, but their differences made them a good team. Matt knew Santos just needed to let off steam sometimes and was happy to lend an ear. And Santos knew how to ground his buddy when he got too flighty.

I'm mainly interested in canon x canon pairings but have some characters I don't mind pairing with OCs. I'm fine with MxM, MxF, and FxF ships. I prefer canon and canon divergent plots. Jamie as a person will give the cold shoulder to anyone who isn’t interested in hiring him for a job. Whatever that “job” may be usually involves stealing, hitman/grunt work, blood running/smuggling (never living blood dolls only blood bags and the like), or even just sending a “friendly” message for someone.

When he isn’t doing freelance work he’s usually on the run from something or someone with his adoptive Mawla figure Keaton (Ravnos) and his newfound friend from Toledo Magpie (Nosferatu). These three and some other unknown Kindred make up a freelance criminal network known as “The Corvidaes”. Perhaps you may have heard the tale of Corvids who preform daring deeds for the right prices. Such as a Jackdaw who was “quite aggressive and bothersome to the local Tremere”, “The Magpie that stole a valuable shiny”, “A Raven swooped by as soon as it vanished” or other such tales. These are the verbal calling cards of the gang.

Underneath all that cold hard skin, Jamie’s true personality shines to those he feels he can let his guard down with. His cynicism becomes witty banter with a friend, his threats become a loving jab, and his defense stance melts away to become warm.

What do they run from? Now that’s at least three pages long of enemies-but lets keep it focused on Jackdaw. Jamie is on the run from his previous Sabbat Pack (who he unfortunately encountered in New Orleans), assassins, and whoever else wants him or his Mawla dead. He’d bet $5 your sire either wants or knows someone who wants his gang dead.

Extras: His animal form is that of a grey wolf with German Shepard like colors mixed in. His preferred feral weapons are wolfs claws and he’s got K9 fangs. Before he died he served in the US Army as a combat medic. He was then Embraced by his Sabbat Sire to be a tool, only for the aforementioned Ravnos to literally steal him away from the Pack and rehabilitate his puppy ass. Sungjin slipped his phone in his pocket and carefully peered around the corner as Jisung tugged on the padlock keeping the storage unit closed and mumbled something to himself as he pocketed the key. Sungjin narrowed his eyes, whispering an expletive to himself.

He noticed how Jisung stiffened and turned around to scan the immediate area. Sungjin withdrew, hoping he hadn’t been spotted and held his breath. It was so silent that Sungjin could have sworn even if Jisung hadn’t seen him, he could definitely hear his heart pounding in his chest.

After a few more moments of silence, Sungjin chanced a peek around the corner and felt immense relief when he saw the hallway empty.

He’d been coming to this storage unit for years. Preferring it over some of the other ones in the area because of the distance from the ocean, the staff, and the price. Sure it was out of the way and not many people knew about its existence, but Sungjin preferred it that way.

He never imagined he’d see his neighbors here when he pulled up. He was confused as Changbin, who looked sicker than Sungjin had ever seen anyone, looked around anxiously. Jisung was speaking to the owner in a quiet but rushed tone. Sungjin could have sworn he saw his neighbor then pass what looked suspiciously like a large roll of cash to the owner who simply nodded.

Sungjin, forgetting why he came here in the first place, waited until the two disappeared inside the complex before getting out of his car and sneaking after them. He followed them through the maze of long buildings, stopping to peek around every corner until he saw them stop. Han unlocked one of the smaller units, removing the padlock and grabbed the handle of the shutter door, pulling it up and Sungjin’s eyes widened as he saw what was inside.

A sort of cell, complete with iron bars, spaced far enough for a hand to pass through but behind that was some sort of fencing, fixed to the bars so as to keep whatever was supposed to be in there behind the bars and in the cell. The door was held in place by a thick chain, wrapped several times around the bars, keeping it shut. Jisung unlocked the large silver padlock holding the chain together and Sungjin watched in a mixture of shock and confusion as Changbin walked inside the cell, carrying a large duffel bag, sleeping bag, and a small cooler. Inside the makeshift cell was a single metal chair that looked as if it had been thrown around a little and bent back in shape.

‘What the fuck?’ He thought to himself. Jisung and Changbin were speaking as Jisung leaned against the iron bars while Changbin made himself at home. Jisung said something else before exiting the cell and closing the door. He wrapped the chain tightly around the bars, securing it in place with the padlock before shaking the door a few times to make sure it wasn’t going anywhere.

Jisung had then stepped out of the unit and grabbed the handle, and Sungjin faintly heard him say “see you in a few days, bro,” before pulling the shutter door down and then sliding the padlock in place.

That led Sungjin to where he was now. He carefully got to his feet and tiptoed over towards the unit. He glanced around, making sure Jisung was nowhere to be found. He carefully approached the unit and stopped, pressing his ear against the shutter door. He wasn’t sure what he expected to hear but the sounds of a video game and Changbin mumbling to himself was at the bottom of the list.

Sungjin pulled back, staring at the door and wondering just what the hell Changbin was that he needed to be locked inside a storage unit for a few days. He had to get to the bottom of this.

FLUFF: i love it. i love soft shit. everythings so difficult all the time i love when characters are soft. love to write it love to think about it.
