eyes focus on the ocean waves crashing against the beaten wood of the ship. change is the prominent motif in his life right now, things with his patron, learning about his past... if he's honest with himself, it's quite overwhelming. overwhelming to the point he's not even sure who he really is anymore. the breeze blows through his hair and lips curl into a small smile as he looks over at the smaller blue tiefling. even through all this change, there was one thing that is always solidly secure: the nien. jester, caleb, nott, beau, yasha, and caduceus. they had become his safe place, even among all this chaos. specifically jester.

❝ i care about you too, jesse. ❞ he offers in a soft voice, barely audible over the crashing waves. in this moment, it's just the two of them. ❝ and you're pretty cool yourself, you know? ❞ yellow eyes light up some, lips curling up even more than before. ❝ out of all the nien, ❞ drawl thick, forced, still pretending for the sake of his self-confidence. for the sake of being someone he isn't. for the sake of getting away from who he use to be. useless. a stone to be cast away. ❝ you're my favorite, don't tell beau though, she might get offended. ❞ regrowing tusk peek past lips and he moves his hand to squeeze hers this time. ❝ I mean it, promise. ❞

𝖽𝗈𝗇’𝗍 𝗐𝖺𝗂𝗍 𝗎𝗇𝗍𝗂𝗅 𝗒𝗈𝗎’𝗏𝖾 𝗋𝖾𝖺𝖼𝗁𝖾𝖽 𝗒𝗈𝗎𝗋 𝗀𝗈𝖺𝗅 𝗍𝗈 𝖻𝖾 𝗉𝗋𝗈𝗎𝖽 𝗈𝖿 𝗒𝗈𝗎𝗋𝗌𝖾𝗅𝖿.

ocean winds meet sails , waves rocking boat. this was the first time jester had ever been this far from land. all of this time , she had watched the waters from balcony of her bedroom. her world was in the pages of books , her imagination. the tales from the traveler. but being here now , in truth it's overwhelming for the tiefling. she's been absent in her conversation with fjord. distant because all she can think about is avantika and how their gaze meets. how fjord looks at their new captain in ways he's never looked at jester. to @drunos , jester is invisible. but she doesn't show that hurt. instead he's given a smile , the radiant one that never falters. she is their heart , and despite how hers aches : she has to give them hope.

❝ yeah fjord, you're totally right. ❞ violet hues go back to the waters , watching them meet horizon. ❝ i'm sure one day, i'll probably find my dad. ❞ another person , jester lavorre had never been good enough for. the truth of the sad clown taken the form of a girl. hidden beneath a masquerade of chaos and cheer. ❝ but you should totally be proud of yourself too, you know? like, you're finding out more stuff about yourself out here. ❞ her hand rests atop his , giving gentle squeeze. ❝ can you maybe just promise me something? i know that avantika is probably like really cool to you, and she's totally helping you . . . but just be careful okay? i don't want you to get hurt. i just care about you a lot. ❞
