Dorothy Cahill and her mother Octavia move back to their hometown Riverdale where Dot meets Jughead Jones, her old best friend, again.

While navigating through the madness that is Riverdale she is met with some devastating truths about her family and friends and has to realize that her world won't ever be the same.

nr. 6 - true colors

"I see your true colors. And that's why I love you. So don't be afraid to let them show. Your true colors. True colors are beautiful, like a rainbow."

That was it. Dot had finished the song. Without any mishaps. She opened her eyes, looking out into the audience. Veronica's eyes were gleaming with joy. She was one of the other people that gave her a push onto the stage. Even the jocks were quiet for a second.

Kevin seemed to be sold too. "That was amazing!" he beamed. "I'll let you know if you got a spot."

"Thank you so much, Kev." Dot said a grin spreading on her face. She walked off the stage, taking the spot next to Veronica.

"That was more than amazing. You'll get a spot for sure," V said excitedly.

Dot sighed relieved. "Thank you," she said, leaning back.

"Archie Andrews?" Kevin asked into his microphone. Archie walked onto the stage, guitar strapped around his shoulder. "And what will you be auditioning with?"

"Uh, an original song that I wrote called 'I'll Try'."

Dot could see the sweat building on his forehead all the way from where he was sitting.

"Try harder! Maybe try not sucking so much." Reggie yelled out from behind them.

"Shhh!" Dot hissed angrily. Why were they there in the first place? Reggie rolled his eyes, leaning back in his chair.

Archie was struggling. His fingers twitched above the guitar strings. He was nervous. Like Dot nervous, plus a thousand percent. "Take your time, Archie. Though we do have people waiting." Kevin pointed out. Still nothing from Archie.

"Oh, my God, what's happening?" Veronica asked shocked.

Josie leaned forward, smiling mischievously. "He's choking," she said, brimming with glee.

"Archie? Clock's ticking." Kevin said a little impatiently.

"Excuse me. Sorry, I gotta go," Archie stuttered, running off the stage as the jocks cheered him on mockingly.

Dot turned around to them once again. If there was one thing she hated it was bullying. "Will you shut the fuck up already?"

Today, I sat down with Dot Cahill, photographer and adviser to the Blue & Gold. Dot encouraged me to start this project, so I thought, who better to interview than her? At the end of our interview, I asked her to tell me about a time she thought she’d never recover.

“Oh, wow. [She pauses.] Well, that would have to be the inciting incident that made my mother and I move back to Riverdale.

You see Bo, I had a bit of a bad girl streak in my Freshman Year of High School back in Kansas. My boyfriend Pat, best friend Mo, and I used to fuck around with this sort of rival crew. Nothing too bad. Just a bit of hazing.

Well, I guess they kind of grew tired of it. One night Pat and I were out and about in the evening and this crew kind of cornered us. At first I believed they were getting us back, you know? Teaching us a lesson or whatever.

But suddenly they pounced on Pat, started beating him senseless. [She sighs, tearing up.] Sorry, I just — I don’t like to think about it too much.

Anyway, it just didn’t end well. Not at all. Pat ended up in a coma. And a couple of weeks later they took him off the machines and he died. I almost lost my mind.

Suddenly my mom announced she and my stepdad were divorcing and we were moving back to Riverdale. I barely had time to work through the whole ordeal. Nevermind that I had gotten hit a couple of times too.

I just, you know, I blamed myself for the whole thing, really. Pat’s death. My mom’s divorce. Her having to uproot our entire life again. I just had no idea if I would ever be okay again. I couldn’t face anyone. Basically locked myself in my room until the move.

It was during that time that I decided to turn my image around. Dirty Dorothy was a thing of the past. I was just going to be the sweet approachable girl, not make a fuss or anything like that. But I soon learned that that wasn’t a good idea either. I had to face my issues and my demons head on and have both sides of my personality meet in the middle. And eventually I managed to do all of that and work through my past. But man, for a while things seemed pretty bleak.”

nr. 5 - the big breakdown

"So now, that we are here. I've been waiting all day, you're off work and both of our minds are clear. Please, tell me why I can't see dad," Dot told her mom. Both were sitting by the kitchen table. Dot had been trying to make her mom talk for days now and she couldn't take the secrecy anymore.

"Dot, I spoke to your father earlier, he doesn't want to see you right now either," Octavia said with a heavy heart. It pained her to see her daughter so sad and feeling left alone by her dad, but she couldn't bear to tell her what he had done.

"What?" Dot asked tears in her eyes. She couldn't understand what was wrong. Why the whole world was basically turning inside out for her right now. "Why not? Does he hate me?" she asked as a tear fell down her face.

"No, no, no. Baby, don't you ever think that your father hates you for any reason. It's just that...after our divorce, your dad made some bad choices," Octavia said. "Let's leave it at that for now," she added, wiping the tear from her daughter's cheek.

"No! Mom, I'm sick and tired of everyone keeping secrets. I don't understand why you can't just tell me what's going on?!"

Octavia herself had tears in her eyes at that point. "Because Dorothy. That's just how it is. We are trying to protect you. Your father doesn't want you to know where he is and what he did. And that's the end of this discussion!" Octavia yelled.

"I hate you so much right now!" Dot yelled back, grabbing her back and keys.

"Where are you going?!" Octavia asked.

"Out!" Dot yelled, opening the door.

"No! Dorothy, stay here. Don't you dare leave this house right now!" her mom yelled as Dot slammed the door shut.

Dot had actually dyed her hair blonde before moving back to Riverdale but went back to brown after her boyfriend's death to fit into the Girl Next Door persona again

She loves nature, actually, and used to love going on walks before moving to Riverdale and finding a dead body once a week

Dot cannot stand someone keeping secrets from her, she doesn't need anyone to "protect" her from the truth

She joins the Serpents for protection in s2 but steps out in between s2 and s3 because it's just not her scene either

Really, she dreams of leaving Riverdale once she graduates to actually see the country and maybe even other countries
