Ilani x Rex

How they met:

Through Anakin, as fate would have it. As the former Padawan of her best friend, Anakin considers Ilani like a big sister or an aunt and can’t wait to introduce her to his captain. “One of my best men,” he boasts, a proud smile on his face as Rex offers his hand for Ilani to shake. “One of the best men I’ve ever met, really.”

Ilani raises an eyebrow at that. Not in surprise, but in interest. Anyone who earns the praise of Anakin Skywalker must be worth their salt.

It’s not long after being introduced that they have a chance to fight together on the battlefield. Ilani immediately understands why Anakin praises Rex so highly; his strategy and care for his men is unparalleled among the GAR, and she respects him for it right off the bat.

She honestly kind of fumbles the first battle, though. It’s still early enough in the war that she hasn’t yet adjusted to a bellicose existence, still preferring a negotiation over a firefight, and because of this she really only defends herself and the men. In this particular battle, she remains on the defensive until it is clear she must go on the offensive, and even then, it’s only after Rex has a close call that she is spurred into action.

General HCs:

Rex doesn’t begrudge Ilani for her actions in that battle, recognizing that the Jedi Order she was raised under instilled very different values from the soldier’s training he received on Kamino, but she’s not felt quite so embarrassed or inadequate in a long time as he tells her this. It makes her feel like a Padawan, and that more than anything forces her to reevaluate.

In general, the two of them get along amicably. Partly this is because they spend most of their time together either strategizing, or in the heat of battle. Ilani initially shares some of Anakin’s wholly-positive praise of Rex. It’s only once Rex convinces her to spend time with him not thinking about the war that she realizes that she’s pedastalized him. Like the rest of the clones, he’s a whole human, with strengths, yes, but also deep flaws.

Loyal to a dangerous fault, encouraged to think for himself but threatened with doing things by the book, the Rex that Ilani comes to know off the battlefield is frustrated, disillusioned, and short. She knows it’s not aimed at her; she’s not perfect, either, but together they work on themselves.

They’re honestly platonic soulmates. They vibe well, they understand one another, and they help the other grow. Neither of them have had much romantic experience, so at some point Ilani confessed to him feeling something for him. They kissed, and immediately both decided, nope! This is weird, like kissing a family member.

They’ve been close friends for years now, though.

Ilani x Hunter

How they met:

Through Cody. The Batch gets an assignment that requires a Jedi, and Cody can think of no one better than his general’s best friend. Cody rightly assumes that Ilani’s fierce loyalty and steadfast compassion will be exactly what the boys of Clone Force 99 need.

This is, of course, the Bad Batch’s frat-era, and Hunter is as cocky as Ilani is stubborn. They butt heads nearly immediately.

The tension between them nearly bungles the mission. Thankfully, some quick thinking by Tech and some truly impressive theatrics by Crosshair save the day. Ilani and Hunter spend the flight back to base in frustrated silence, sitting at opposite ends of the ship. But by the time they drop out of hyperspace, Ilani, having meditated on it, requests that Hunter remain so they can talk. The others dutifully file out and, once the ship is otherwise empty and the hatch shut, Ilani apologizes.

Hunter is taken aback, but seems to believe her, and offers an apology of his own. “Truce?” “Truce.” In all honesty, they both realize that they disagreed so strongly because they’re highly similar: both are strong and competent leaders, both believe they know what’s best, and both want what’s best for their men. They just had very different ideas of how to fulfill all of those traits.

General HCs:

From then on, whenever CF99 needs a Jedi, they (and by “they” I mean Hunter) request Ilani. She almost always obliges. The others aren’t stupid, they know that these two idiots have feelings for one another, but Crosshair makes sure that Tech and Wrecker don’t kark things up for their big brother. Hunter needs to come to the conclusion on his own.

They’re constantly touching one another. Ilani rests her hand on Hunter’s back as she scoots past him in the Marauder; he bumps her with his elbow when he cracks a joke that she deadpans at. She casually brushes hair out of his eyes once and he nearly short-circuits.

Hunter appreciates that Ilani doesn’t feel the need to fill every silence with chatter, unlike some Jedi (Skywalker). He often finds himself sitting near her when she meditates before and after missions. Studying her features, wondering what she’s meditating on, wondering if she can sense the way his heart leaps when he imagines just leaning over and— He gets up quickly, retreating before he does something stupid.

They still argue, tempers flaring when they disagree on how best to complete a mission; these spats typically end with both of their chests heaving and funny feelings in their stomachs, like...butterflies?

NSFW HCs:

It’s actually after one such argument, about something pointless, that everything comes to a head. Hunter had gotten in her face, the pair of them nearly the same height, anger etched into every line on his face. Ilani had her teeth bared, but Hunter is closer to her than he’s ever been, and her eyes inadvertently drop to his lips for just a moment—but Hunter saw. And decided enough is enough.

They are the most intensely passionate lovers on their own, and together every moment of intimacy is incredibly sensuous. Between his enhanced senses and her own (thanks to her montrals), they both learn the other’s body, reactions, and tells quickly. At some point, all it takes for her to work him up is a series of featherlight touches and one very pointed look, and then he can’t wait to pin her to the wall and fuck her senseless.

Their sexual relationship, like their emotional one, is rather give-and-take. More often than not, Ilani ends up on top, riding Hunter for all she’s worth—but when he feels like it, he can easily grab her hips and change the pace. It infuriates her as much as it makes her lose her mind, falling apart for him with little effort.

It’s also not uncommon for their dalliances to oscillate between feverish, rushed fucking to slow and tender lovemaking, complete with eye contact and soft caresses of one another’s faces.

Ilani is a Togruta with impeccable fashion sense, though since she wears Jedi robes 99% of the time no one really knows. Deeply passionate about helping people, Ilani is at first resistant to becoming a war general during the Clone Wars, but quickly realizes she needs to step up and be a leader--though she still prefers diplomacy and strategy over blasters and counterstrikes.

Feels her emotions very deeply, but doesn't always know what to do with them. Often means that she lashes out -- in various forms (e.g., if a close friend is threatened, Ilani becomes overprotective and overbearing). Her connection with the Force is what keeps her going when times get tough

I'm going to do a romantic and platonic, because I'm an overachiever! ^-^

I hope this is close to what you expected~

Romantic First! I ship her with Lieutenant 80, of the Coruscant Guard.

So, 80 was a member of the 91st Recon Battalion, but was reassigned to the Guard because he asks too many questions. And by that, I mean he refuses to act on anything without evidence, and Bacara and Neyo were at their wits ends with him.

But, as a member of the guard, he can often be found on patrol near the Jedi Temple (Fox says it's because there's no one there who will kill him when he questions them).

And I think that's how they meet.

Since you said that she has a hard time with the war, I can see 80 sitting next to her and just being present with her while she struggles with her feelings on the war. Maybe offering advice if she wants it.

He moves at the speed of her, and he would never presume, and he's largely unaware of what love feels like, but she's pretty and nice and strong and she gets so angry when he mentions different things about how he and his brothers are treated-

80 starts bringing her paper flowers. Sometimes he manages to weave them into crowns, and he'll gift them to her sheepishly, "I don't have much money, but you deserve pretty things, and this is the best I can do."

Baby boy is smitten, and doesn't even realize it.

And now Platonic. So the easy answer would be Kanna, a Jedi Padawan, but that's too easy, so let's look a little further out. I think she'd be friends with Cal Daines.

Cal is a former debutante who was sent to Coruscant for law school, and ended up dropping out when she realized that the law her dads wanted her to study went against everything she stands for.

She's pretty and delicate looking, if you can overlook the bubblegum pink hair, the face tattoos, the colored contacts, and the general punk aesthetic that she wears and carries with pride.

So the easiest way for them to have met, is if Ilani needed shelter one evening, because Cal, and her chosen family, would be more than happy to offer it to her.

They live in a massive home that's lovingly called the Daines Home, as Cal bought it with her inheritance before her dads disowned her. The home is a co-op which is home to anywhere from 15-20 young adults, with a rotating door for anyone who might need it.

I don't think Ilani would be comfortable, at first. The people who live in the Daines house are loudly anti-war, though it would quickly become apparent that though they're anti-war, they're pro-clone and pro-jedi, and think that both groups deserve more.

Cal would cheerfully offer Ilani some body-paint if she wanted to be a little more colorful, and would offer her reams of cloth, if she wanted to make her robes a little more colorful.

And when Ilani leaves the following morning, it would be with an open invitation that she could come to the Daines home whenever the war is becoming too much. And that there will always be an open bed, a warm blanket, and hot food waiting for her.

Ilani x CodyWan

How they met:

Ilani and Obi-Wan were practically creche mates; she’s only a few years older than him, at most, and so they spent a lot of their childhoods together. She was there after Qui-Gon abandoned Obi-Wan on a wartorn planet for a year, being the first one to welcome him home and make sure he was okay. As a youngling, she harbored a crush on Obi-Wan (a mutual attraction); as Padawans, they never did more than kiss, but that was enough at the time. And when the time came, she couldn’t have been prouder of her best friend’s appointment to the Council.

When the war broke out, and they were assigned to separate clone units, they still stayed in touch via comms at least once a week. On joint missions, especially the ones that required a subtler touch, Ilani was often assigned to keep Obi-Wan in check—Obi-Wan, and his clone commander, Cody.

Ilani could tell instantly that there was something between the two of them from the get-go, even before either man was willing to admit it to themselves or each other.

General HCs

At first, she was a little jealous—but one night, a year or more into the war, Cody approached her, his Force signature absolutely shot through with nerves, to ask how best to ask his General about his feelings. He even went so far as to request that she be present for that conversation, since “you know him so well. Better than I do. I want...no, I need your expertise, General.”

She obliged; during that encounter, Obi-Wan looked at her with wide, fearful eyes—fearful not because he was taken aback by Cody’s forwardness, but fearful that his attachment to them both would tear them all apart. Ilani assured him, as did Cody, that he didn’t have to choose between them. He could have them both. It surprised all three of them; but in the end, it was the best decision all three of them could have made.

Cody and Obi-Wan have the stronger bond of the three, but Ilani’s history with Obi keeps them grounded. Her dry wit is a perfect mirror of Cody’s, and they both drive Obi-Wan crazy with their senses of humor.

Often meet under the guise of discussing battle tactics or reviewing the most recent skirmishes for ways to improve. (They fool most people, but their former padawans know better. Not like Anakin can say shit anyways.)

She sometimes forgets that Obi-Wan is a Jedi Master in his own right, and Cody gently reminds her when she attempts to tell her creche mate when he should be more careful, or not put himself in harm’s way, or do anything rash.

NSFW HCs:

Tentative at first. For both Obi-Wan and Ilani, there’s a lot of guilt and repressed desires to work through; Cody is endlessly patient with both of them, even when they aren’t patient with themselves. It’s because of this that Cody often takes the lead in the bedroom. He implements a check-in system, though at some point he realizes he can just tell by looking at them how they are.

Ilani doesn’t always need or want to be involved. She’s perfectly content to lay back and watch Cody and Obi-Wan make love, bringing herself to climax with just her fingers, satisfied enough with experiencing the afterglow in their Force signatures. She also always reaps the benefits of post-sex cuddles.

Her favorite, and Obi-Wan’s too she suspects, is when she sits on Obi-Wan’s face while Cody fucks him. I went a little overboard so we've got "how they met," "general," and "nsfw" headcanons. all below the cut

Ilani x Fives

How they met:

Honestly the circumstances for this have to be very specific. Ilani is the general for the 387th, stationed Rimward, but her forces were involved in the Battle of Kamino, and I imagine this is how Ilani first met Fives.

Or, rather, how she literally bodied him, a newly-promoted ARC trooper, to knock him out of the way of droids firing on his unprotected flank. He toppled to the floor, cursing in every language he knew (which is at least two), about to rip a shiny a new one—when he catchs sight of this imposing wall of a Togruta woman, her lekku whirling as she spins, her green saber a blur in the air as she reflects blaster fire back at the droids. When she grins down at him, pointed canines flashing and golden eyes sparkling with protective fury, he damn near falls in love.

For her part, Ilani was just doing what she felt was right: protecting her own. It didn’t matter that the blue-and-white-clad trooper was in Anakin’s battalion—the clones are her family.

General HCs:

Ilani tolerates Fives for the first few encounters. He’s loud and boastful (with good reason, she supposes, but still). And he always seems to be making flimsy, transparent excuses when they’re both on Triple Zero for why he’s hanging around the Temple—“just waiting for the General, er, General”—and inevitably ends up following her around.

But over time his fierce loyalty to his brothers and his determination to protect the Republic—at any cost—is what wins her over. He’s just as deeply passionate as she is, but he doesn’t hide it. In a way, she’s a little envious of how open he is about his feelings; she often feels that she has to mask her true feelings, or at least the true depth of them, when around her fellow Jedi.

With him, she begins to let go a little. Lets herself experience emotions to their fullest, in a way that she normally only feels comfortable doing on a battlefield.

He makes her laugh; she makes him consider life beyond the war. At first, not in a romantic way, but it slowly becomes that.

She’s the first one to make a move. It’s late on Coruscant, both of them will be returning to the frontlines come morning, and she’s finally let her walls down enough to admit to herself that she cares about Fives—cares for him. They’re tucked away somewhere private, and she just leans over and kisses him.

NSFW HCs:

These two are Not Quiet, at all. The entire barracks and/or Temple will know, depending where they shack up, and it’s just an unspoken rule among the others that no, I didn’t hear anything strange last night.

Ilani learns very quickly that she loves marking Fives, biting into his pecs, biceps, thighs to leave impressions of her pointed teeth. She’s overprotective and has possessive tendencies, and seeing Fives’s body littered with her marks just makes her so feral. (Fives also loves it, except when one of the others catches sight. “No, shut up, vod, I don’t know where it came from.”)

Because they see each other so infrequently, they definitely exchange lewd photos, videos, voice messages—anything to help remind one another that the other is there, alive, and waiting for them.

When they do have time together, they’re either fucking nasty or making the sweetest love; there is no in-between with these two.

How easy is it for them to get lost in despair?

This...depends. Pre-Order 66, she's relatively okay at getting herself out of emotional spirals, especially in her preferred locations (temple on Coruscant or in hyperspace). Post-Order 66...not so much. Like many surviving Jedi, she cuts herself off from the Force shortly after the Empire rises to power, and that feeling—like she's lost a limb—never fully fades or dulls. And it often worsens her despair.

When have they been unable to save someone or something no matter how much they tried?

Is a Jedi really traumatized if they don't have a pivotal story connected to Order 66? Because it's Order 66. It's Rowan. We've seen a lot of Padawans who survive while their Masters perish in canon, but not any(?) (former) Padawans who die while the Master escapes.

That's exactly what happens with Ilani and Rowan. Ilani tries so, so kriffing hard to keep the clones, their trusted friends, alive, while also keeping herself and Rowan from being slaughtered. But the trust and vulnerability cultivated between Jedi and clones runs deep; and when Captain Flare raises his blaster at Rowan's back, Ilani hesitates. And she carries that guilt for the rest of her life.

Imagine, then, her grief and surprise when she finds out Rowan survived. But that's another story for another time.

as usual this got away from me, so answers under the cut:

🌦 How do they like to spend their rainy days?

Rainy days for Ilani mean meditation while lying on the sidewalk like a frog. There's something about the way the rain drums on her skin, soaking through her robes, while she lies on the hard ground that just immediately soothes her psyche and helps her meditate better. She has the vaguest impression of an early memory, from before she was taken to the Temple as a toddler, of lying in the rain with her mother.

💍 What are their thoughts on marriage?

Not for her, even post-O66. Of course, during her time in the Order, marriage, attachments, romantic relationships—all out of the question. Until the Clone Wars begin, and suddenly everything she thought she knew about being part of the Order was uprooted. And, granted, Ilani has always struggled with the "no attachments" part of being a Jedi, as many do.

But marriage is just...too much for her. She's committed her life to something once already and look where that got her. If she's in a long-term relationship, she doesn't feel the need to legally bind herself to someone else, let alone put herself on government record like that.

🫢 Biggest secret?

Oh this is a tough one. Ilani is very honest with Rowan about the trials of facing the Dark Side, and her own troubles with it, because her own master wasn't transparent about it and that nearly broke Ilani. So her biggest secret would have to be... something she doesn't even want to admit to herself: sometimes she wishes Rowan weren't a Jedi.

It has nothing to do with Rowan themself—though Force knows that Padawan tests Ilani's patience daily—but the fact that Ilani cares too deeply about Rowan to feel any kind of okay about them being a Commander in the war. They want Rowan to have a "normal" life, a family, a career that doesn't involve potentially dying.

2. What is something your character is deeply passionate about, and how does it drive their goals and motivations?

Wielding a green blade, Ilani's core values revolve around harmony, nature, and peace. She really is a Negotiator, and so what she excels at is diplomacy. But what she's passionate about isn't politics; it's people. Before the war, this looks like relief missions and serving as a peacekeeper. Then, when the war first starts, Ilani relies on Rowan to check her; she doesn't want to be the one responsible for sending her men to their deaths, so she has a tendency to step back from battle planning in the first few months. She learns though that her involvement in the planning process actually keeps more men alive, so she comes around on that.

4. What are your character's quirks or eccentricities that make them stand out from others?

aside from the fact that she's a tall and built Togruta woman who could crush heads between her thighs?

I jest. No, what sets Ilani apart is her tendency to hiss when she's displeased, stressed, upset, etc. I love the idea of Togruta being very feline in how they comport themselves, so she 100% does hiss like a cat on occasion. She tries not to, but sometimes it just slips out. Scared the shit out of her Padawan the first time it happened, even though it wasn't directed at Rowan at all.

☁️ Cloudy Day: Describe how your OC acts when they are in a bad mood.

Ilani She's a storm on the horizon when she's in a bad mood. Insane lightning and far-off, rumbling thunder—but she never lets her bad mood draw any closer than that. She doesn't want to lose control. So she projects a facade of calmness, but those who know her best (Rowan and eventually Creed) learn the warning signs. Her easiest tell is the way her nostrils flare in silent anger. But, like most Jedi, she does meditate to ground herself when practicable.

Rowan Has a tendency to self-isolate, at least physically. Really relies on meditation to ground themselves and let the anger, anxiety, sadness, whatever it is, return to the Force. Often will meditate for hours after a particularly rough day or exhausting anxiety attack, and when they resurface they need a weighted blanket (or compression gloves, if a blanket is unavailable) to reacclimatize to their body.

Creed Gets very surly. Short, snippy responses; glares at anyone who dares even breathe near him. Lots of jaw clenching and flexing his fingers. If he's in a mood on the battlefield, his brothers know to stay out of his way—not that he'd hurt them, of course. No—he gets uncharacteristically competitive in these moods, and it's easier to let him win by default than outgun him.

texture: Does your OC favor any specific kinds of cloth or textures? Is there anything they can't wear or don't like? What sort of fabrics do they prefer?

Ilani Texture isn't a huge deal to Ilani, except when it comes to her montrals. She hates having any kind of fabric on her head; any missions that require her have her hood up, she's on edge the entire time. You know that feeling when you touch sherpa when you're not prepared for it? It's like that on her montrals until the fabric is removed.

Rowan Sensory issues royalty. Having grown up with the rough woolen Jedi robes, they're fine with the texture of those, but if Rowan hadn't grown up wearing it, it would be a nightmare for them. They really like natural fibers; synthetics don't feel right at all. Massive ick, like gagging and shaking out their hands if they touch something wrong.

bling: What jewelry does your OC wear? Does it have any meaning?

Ilani Homegirl is bedecked with jewelry. Instead of a more traditional headpiece like what Ahsoka wears, for instance, Ilani wears daintier, lighter head jewelry that faintly jingles as she moves. Her headtails have banded jewelry around them several inches from their tips, akin to armbands (which she also wears). All of her jewelry is gold, or at least gold-plated. If she has to go stealth or is traveling to seedier places, she does swap out her jewelry for something more understated, but generally, gold is her thing. She mostly just likes how it looks.

Rowan Rowan only has one piece of jewelry and it was given to them by Ilani. It's a gold bracelet, very finely hammered into something akin to a Mobius Strip. It signifies the infinity of the living Force. Ilani gifted to Rowan after Rowan completed the trials and became a Knight.
