Chrono died at the age of 22. Yes, I did cry when Chrono died, yes, the cyan Takotchi is Larry, and yes, Chrono did lay an egg. The egg hatched into a non-binary Tamagotchi I named Orka. Oh, and while I feel sad when my Tamagotchi die, I kind of broke down into tears that time.
wanted to see how I could get physical care mistakes for future tamas and I think I see why I got kusatchi, who requires more mental mistakes than physical.
I don't like to scold the tamas when they're pouting bc I feel bad, but if the attention symbol is lit up then I just do what I did when I was little and praise them to make it go away. I guess it must not count as a physical miss since I didn't completely ignore it, even tho it didn't count as "training."
also as I was thinking abt this, I got confused for a second and thought Briar never did anything to deserve being scolded. but then I realized a difference between the keitai and connections I never noticed before?
the keitais throw tantrums. like obviously behaving badly, obviously doing smth deserving of a timeout. but my V2 hasn't had a tantrum, the attention icon just lights up like it would on the original 90s tamas.
and that's prolly what confused little me. the 90s tamas don't have the distinction of praise/time out, you just press that button when the attention symbol is lit up unnecessarily. but the connections DO say timeout, and for a kid like me who absolutely loved their tamas, I just thought they wanted attention so I praised them since I didn't think what they were doing was bad.
why didn't they have the tamas throw tantrums on the connections?? I can understand why they might censor tama kissing or obaketchi, but why tantrums? they don't censor tamas getting sad/angry over bad food or losing a game, so why not have them pitch a fit?
on may 3 marigold beeped for a tantrum, but i ignored her since i only planned on disciplining her 4 times. a while later she beeped again and i figured she was sick, which sometimes happens when you ignore a call for discipline. at first glance i wondered why the sickness icon was so high, but then i looked closer and realized that Definitely Isn’t the sickness icon.
on the color screen tamas you can save them from the shinigami, but on the tamagotchi plus tamas you can only save them if a tama has died before by calling on their spirit (and you can only use their spirit once). it didn't tell me if her hearts were empty but I know they weren't bc otherwise she'd have beeped, and even if I was in the other room I would've heard it. If I can hear a tama poop from another room I would've heard the attention beep. but anyway, the inevitable happened and this time I DID catch it on video (link here). the part where it flashes from happy marigold to her grave made me so sad, even typing abt it now still makes me sad.
here’s her final stats:
and here’s obaketchi:
my only guess, since I would've heard if she was sick or had empty hearts and I'm fairly certain that wasn't it, was maybe smth to do w me disciplining her as a baby/toddler then stopping once she evolved into ringotchi? but it makes me sad since I get more attached to my plus (or connection) tamas and took more pics of her than I did of my p2 that passed. like those pics of her for the holiday a few days ago, I even took her out with me that day too. I think it's ironic the situation with her was similar to my p2: accidentally took too good of care of them, tried to take worse care the 2nd time around, accidentally killed them.
there's a chance I could've ignored her since I'm running so many Tamas and can't recall who I'm attending to or intentionally ignoring, but she wouldn't have gotten sick after throwing a tantrum bc that only happens after she pouts. and I usually check them when they beep, I wouldn't say I was more distracted than usual. and again I don't think I ignored her enough for all the hearts to be empty, and I only let the screen have 2 poops at max on it before I clean it. so I'm like, Fairly sure that her hearts weren't empty and she wasn't sick, since if I looked over to see the shinigami, I would've looked over to check if she was sick. again, there's no way to be sure, but it still took me off guard.
honestly I was running out of new things to do on the keitai and it was starting to become less fun so... guess I've photographed abt everything else you can do on here aside from this lmao. also just realized my entama has 6 of my keitais still in the friends list--I think everyone I raised on there since I got the entama, except marigold, which I regret now since ringotchi would've showed up on there and I had just been thinking abt it the night before. Harry had connected to the keitai once when I had sage, but I forgot ringotchi was on the entama since she's one of the bad care tamas.
one thing that bums me out is that i lost the generation streak, since marigold’s lineage ended with her. that means the past generations page is empty now, and the screen says i’m on the first generation again. other than that, everything else i had on the keitai is still there.
it bums me out since i was proud of raising 11 consecutive generations, since that rarely happens w me since i usually got overly attached to them and would stop running them after 1 or 2 generations. i mean i’ll always remember how many generations i’ve raised on the keitai, but it’s different actually seeing it on the tama.
since i already lost 1 generation streak i contemplated raising a tama into an oldie since i’ve never done that before, but i didn’t wanna kill 2 tamas in a row. who knows, maybe i could get another keitai sometime, raise them both into oldies, and then get oyajitchi. but that’s for another time!
also obligatory reference to what i posted on moshi monsters the first time i killed a tama since now it’s tradition i guess:
On my art Insta account, I wanted to make a series of feed posts in which I draw a random tama that represents a color of the rainbow every other day during this entire month! 🌈
After the frustration of raising 3 Milktchi in a row, it was time to try for a fresh start. Instead of marrying Milktchi off to an eligible bachelor like her mother and grandmother before her, care was completely withheld in order for nature to take its course.
For reference, she turned into Milktchi on the morning of the fourth day (due to being born later at night) and had completely full Hunger and Fondness meters.
By halfway through Day 1 of no care, things were pretty dire.
She remained exactly like this for 2 full days. Perhaps she had accepted her fate, as there weren't very many attention calls at all, if any, beyond the initial state change on the first day. I have to assume she was surviving out of pure spite.
30 minutes into the third day, Milktchi made a call for help.
The Grim Gotchi had arrived!
At this point a slightly more compassionate owner would use the Assist icon to call an ambulance, but there was science to do, so I began timing.
10 minutes later, another call for help.
5 minutes later, a slightly more desperate call for help.
5 minutes later, again.
Less than 3 minutes later, she made her final plea, and then...
The death spiral began.
It was, thankfully, not as traumatic or drawn out as the original P1/P2s. The Grim Gotchi called three of his friends, then 2 Chestnut Angels lifted Milktchi up to the heavens.
(This part happened too quickly for me to photograph so instead, please enjoy this photo of the Chestnut Angel I raised earlier in the summer.)
The screen went black, and Milktchi had been replaced with the crying Obaketchi ghost seen at the top of the post. Scrolling up/down showed me her obituary.
Note the crying expression to indicate she didn't leave on good terms.
Anyway, back on the Death Screen, holding the Home button for several seconds summoned a new egg, and to my delight...
MY FIRST SON.
The Milktchi curse has been broken (for now)!
In summary, the Tamagotchi Smart is resilient and extremely forgiving when it comes to survival. It's also very quiet, not calling for help until it's literally on the brink of death. The Death Scene isn't as scary as in some of the older versions, and it's rather short. All items, food, and Gotchi Points were passed on to the new generation, so there's really nothing to lose except 2 days of playtime while you're waiting for your current character to kick it!
Isn't this just the cutest tama in the history of tamas? 😍
No, really, it's so shiney and adorable I ttly forgot just how tiny the old tamas were...
Before starting it, of course I first opened it and checked for leaking/corrosion from the old batteries and put in new batteries.
*beeeeeep*
Oh, hi, Obaketchi :3
I set the time and 5 minutes later I had this little fellow on my screen:
I decided for my angel to be genderless and called it Kohaku (like the angelic main character of the CLAMP manga Wish).
Like all newborn babies, Kohaku was hungry and unhappy, so first thing I did was feeding it:
And then it was time for a couple of snacks, because I just had to try, how easy it would be to chase that bat away.
Just a couple of gentle taps and it flied away. Call me amazed :3
Next up were some rounds of the shooting star game.
After I filled up its hungy and effort meter, it didn't take long for Kohaku to doze off.
I guess my enthusiasm can be somewhat tiring ;P
Kohaku's nap was only short, though.
Soon after it woke up again I heard a soft beeping and Obaketchi2 turned into Maruten:
Here's a pic of another round of the shooting star game:
Later that night caught Kohaku doing a good deed and got to praise it for it :)
And last but not least, here we have a picture of both my currently running tamas in the arms of my plush frog Remy:
Here Kohaku's stats after going to bed:
- age: 1 day (at least I think 日 means day...)
- TP: 48 ❤
- Discipline: |||||||
- Hungry: ❤❤❤❤
- Effort: ❤❤❤O
And, for the sake of completeness, here are Kimiko's current stats:
- age: 5 years 5 months
- IQ: 255
- weight: 11,4 kg

Quick little video of Bill! He evolved from Mametchi after about a week.
Also, with it already being confirmed that this version uses the original tombstone & Obaketchi death screen instead of replacing it like they usually do, this makes the very first Tamagotchi even in the toy’s history where the only thing changed between the English and Japanese ones is the language. That’s kind of amazing, in retrospect.
it's funny to me that the tama angel was so adamant abt not showing obaketchi that the starting screen was the UFO that's supposed to take them back to their home planet. on the angelgotchi, it's clear that they're dead and you're raising their angel spirit. what is the tama angel implying? that the tama died on its way back to its home planet? c'mon!
one of my fav things abt this tama so far is how the baby tamas have up-close animations! i’ve never had a tama where the babies have up-close animations before. they’re so cute!!
here’s the eating animations for them: the meal is rice, and the snack is cherries. the options screen where you can pick from food or games is pretty cute too:
also, here’s babytchi’s sleeping animation! their little crib is so cute.
so far i’m really impressed with this tama, it has more features than i expected it would for such a small tama! it’s also a lot simpler and less stressful than other tamas can be: they don’t go to the bathroom or get sick or need disciplined, the only thing you really have to worry about is when a ghost starts chasing them. they make a little beep when they’re hungry, unhappy, or when a ghost appears. rambling more about another feature i enjoy under the cut:
also, it’ll be way easier to say goodbye to my tama on here, since on the classic non-connection tamas they all die no matter how good of care you take of them, and thinking of mimitchi or zatchi dying always made me sad so i took the batteries out once they started getting old. but on here, when you say goodbye to a tama you’ve taken good care of, they actually depart to tama planet--and it’s not like the classics where they use the idea of them “leaving back to tama planet” as a way to try to cover up the fact that they died. this tamagotchi isn’t based off a preexisting japanese release, and actually DOES have a death screen involving obaketchi! so when you take good care of them and they depart, it sorta reminds me of how the angelgotchi tamas depart happily when you take good care of them.
