First Magic tournament in... a while. So I guess I feel like doing a tournament report. Let's hope I remember to update it after each round. The format is €100 modern, so, modern but the whole deck comes in at less than €100 on cardmarket (via deckstats) my deck is UR... I can't really call it pyromancer anymore. TPI and Dragon-chan

Round 1 vs UB flash

Game 1 had a decent back and forth before I finally stuck a first threat (Balmor). Swiftly followed up by dragon-chan and a TPI, opponent kinda drowned in value after that.

Game 2 never felt particularly out of control after a double dragon-chan opener, even if it did lead to ~11 cards being exiled to cut off delirium. Chip damage paid off after opp played a snapcaster whilst I had Gandalfs Sanction. Which, by now, the yard was refilled with 12 instants and sorceries. Fun times.

Round 2 - mirror

Well, mostly mirror, where I went wide they went tall and pauper all star tolarian terror was too much to deal with on account of drawing no goddamn instants and sorceries game 1 with 2 TPI on the field, and getting anger of the gods'd twice and ratchet bombed in to oblivion game 2. I should have sided in the Aria of Flames but didn't. I'm glad that another izzet player is 2-0 though. If UR wins the tournament I'll be happy.

Oh right, I also got sanctioned for 13. So. That's how that feels.

Round 3 vs Merfolk

KIRAAAAAAAA.

It was 2-1 against, Kira killed me honestly. Sat there looking at painlands with 2 bolts and a sanction in hand just going "I could win on the spor if it weren't for that Kira". Using the painlands for removal would have put me dead on board still unfortunately.

AT LEAST THATS WHAT I SAW BEFORE THE MATCH WAS OVER. Then realised I would've been dead to a lord, but could have left myself at 5 with 4 power on the enemy board. Sad times.

Round 4 - vs Cascade

2-1, mulled to 5 then 5 then 6, got the dig power to hit the exact top decks I needed in game 1 and 3. Bolt first, echoing truth to bounce 4 rhinos in the last game opening the way for a big swing of tokens and dragon-chan.

7th overall at the end of the day, I think the deck was reasonable, but people seemed prepared to face tokens. Might build GW hatebears for next time, seems like it could be fun. I think there's also the possibility of 3c humans (or maybe 4/5c). Lots of space for brewing, just how I like it.

Why doesn't Kinn freeze during the last fight?

-TLDR: becoz porche is by his side & chan's skillful

I remember someone mentioning that Kinn freezes during actual fights like ep1 escape and ep3 bathroom fight where he needs someone to fight for him but in the recent ep5 kidnapping scene Kinn stays calm and even fights back nonchalantly. It maybe 2 things

Character development : that Kinn does trust Porche with his safety and is at ease that he is by his side so that he can kick ass without freezing.

Foreshadowing (theory time) : Kinn actually knows something might happen to him after his convo with korn so decided to ask Porche to be by his side . That's why he's calm and collected enough to assist porche in the fight. Also Kinn doesn't look as worried as he was when porche got shot (unpredictable for kinn) but in this scene he's confident enough to take out the big guns meaning he knows smthg abt this kidnapping. Tho he knows they want him alive why would they want Porche to be alive too? Shouldn't he be more worried abt Porche since he's so close to guns (tho their fight starts after they know they have backup ) or losing him ? Smthg abt this kidnapping scene is fishy.

Feel free to poke holes in my theory.
