Happy friday! Maybe something with morrigan and this prompt: 6- “You’re my boss, not my mum. Why are you so worried about me all of a sudden?”
@dadrunkwriting
I altered the line slightly to change Boss, since that doesn’t really fit with something Morrigan would say or would be said to her.
“Ow! Solona!” Alistair’s complaints were as broken glass to Morrigan’s ears.
“Hold still, Ali,” Solona huffed. She tucked a lock of white-blond hair behind an ear and passed a fistful of mana over her beau’s leg. “I had to set your leg before I heal it if you intend to walk.”
“I could do with a few days not walking,” he grumbled.
“I meant ever again, and you know it,” Solona rolled her eyes. “Alright, you’re up next Morri.”
“I am uninjured,” Morrigan waved Solona off. “I believe the Qunari took a bolt in the arm, however.” Two, actually. She had seen a crossbow bolt thread the needle and made its mark in the gaps of his armor, and the genlock emissary’s lightning bolt had struck that before it could be torn out. Sten’s arm may well be half cooked.
“A bolt? He didn’t say a thing! Ugh, I’ll be back soon, Ali! Sten! Get your ass back here!”
“You make her worry overmuch with your antics, Alistair,” Morrigan warned, though she did not look upon the pathetic little princeling as she did. “Is your duty not to end the Blight? By the way you carried on today, one might think it was to allow lesser darkspawn to end you in battle instead.”
“Cute.” There was the clank of his mail and a hiss of breath as he tried and failed to take his feet. The fool wouldn’t even allow Solona’s healing spell time to settle. “You’re our companion, not my mother. Why are you so worried about me all of a sudden?”
“You would be so lucky,” Morrigan huffed, but her pulse quickened against her will.
How could she not fret? All her plans hinged on his survival, unfortunately. Solona was the only other Warden in all Ferelden, and considering neither she nor Alistair knew the particulars of how to induct new members, that was unlikely to change. Solona decidedly lacked the anatomy needed to aid Morrigan, so it would leave only Alistair at the end. And to take Alistair would be to betray the young woman Morrigan had come to call sister.
Morrigan may not have romantic entanglements, but that would not lessen Solona’s hurt when the time came. It would not make that pain false, much as she wished to be able to dismiss it out of hand.
Without more to say, she turned her attention to the dead. With the rest healing, someone needed to find the valuables to facilitate the rest of their journey.
“H-hey! Wait, Morrigan, give me a hand up!” Alistair’s frantic shout almost pulled a laugh from her.
“You would have better luck with the Mabari, Alistair!” she called over her shoulder. He lived. He would live. That was all she needed.

Blunt
b: being straight to the point : DIRECT
Paregoros is born not among the spires of Amaurot, although xey would come to practice there, but in a misty little town that Azem - Venat, not Thanatos - describes as sleepy in that calm, comforting sort of way, like a perfectly weighted blanket on a late spring morning. It is a point the town takes pride in, although Paregoros xemself never quite sees why some wanderer from a city’s opinion matters overmuch even once xey become a denizen of that very city xemself.
But it is not the city that lures xem so much as the needs of xyr education; while healing magics are hardly a rarity on the star, being not so distant from xyr people’s common creation magics, that’s not the pursuit afoot.
No, it is the divine, carnal gore of the flesh that calls like a siren song from within the marrow of bones and the humours of bodies. Ligaments call to Paregoros like the strings of a lyre, begging xem to run xyr fingers along the lengths of them. Magics feel like such a simplistic way to explore the roadmaps of bodies on the inside. When xey graduate from Anyder with a phD in anatomy, it is knowing the music of blood inside veins intimately right down to every possible reason it may become dissonant.
Xey do explore the ways magic can affect the body, learn all the little ways to manipulate it. How to reach in with xyr magic and tweak a nerve so precisely that it could completely bring someone to their knees.
Or restore them to being able to use said knees without pain.
This is not a skill that sees much need in Amaurot, but out in the greater world, away from the hustle and bustle of cities where the people doing interesting things with creation magic are less common. Out there Paregoros builds a reputation for having a brusque bedside manner - unless xey are tending to children, when xey become a warm, friendly face.
Xey return to Amaurot for the last time for the Final Days, moving amongst xyr people and doing everything possible to ease the pain of the dying, up until xyr own demise in the fires. As xey return to the star again and again, the bodies xey awaken in benefit from Paregoros’s knowledge, time and time again, are restored to function and adjusted however fits xyr preference on that turn.
Sometime in the late thirteen hundreds, xeir awareness flares into crisp relief once again in the Skatay range, xyr eyes meeting those of Emmerololth from xyr position crushed beneath a tree, barely even hesitating before the skills returning to xyr fingers rebuild destroyed bone and torn muscles, connect vessels and nerves before pushing the heavy pine off of the pale body.
“Ah. The rabbits. It was still a fairly young one, an unlucky young one, but a young one.” Xyr hands flex delightedly at not having to fix joints riddled with the pains of age, stretching as the two Ascians begin a quiet, meditative trail down the mountain.
Time passes swiftly when you do not need to worry about the physical ravages of it, putting xyr peers back together when they can be, although the mental ravages of time drive some to more and more foolish ends, beyond the reaches of an anatomist’s work. And then, as more and more of their leaders burn themselves to crisp, and Emmerololth herself is released to be remade yet again, Paregoros finds xemselves facing down a new storm, a slowly growing drumbeat of questions bordering on heretical as the authorities dwindle, and dwindle -
Until Fandaniel is trying to drag them all to the same end so many had sacrificed themselves to prevent, his own grief and fury having stolen a once brilliant man, and xyr paths manage to both narrow and widen at once, setting out as the fire once again comes from the skies above to tender xyr ministrations upon the denizens of the star, if this time, for the first time, it is upon mortal flesh, it is mortals upon whom Paregoros’s blunt manner turns to keep them alive in the worst of times, and their children who get xyr gentler expressions.
And it is in this rain of fire that xey hear a familiar voice behind xem, long ears cocking to the direction thereof.
“Iatrosophist Galenos!”
Paregoros does not even look up from xyr replenishing of a kit xey have taken to carrying with the supplies that mortals seem to benefit from - fruit juices, some sort of light snack.
“Intercessor Chionades. Delighted though I am to see you in good health,” xey turn, white irises on black sclera catching sight of the other Ascian’s girlfriend behind him, watching with curiosity, “I have work to be doing.”
“And a lot of it, of a surety.” His eyes drop to the supplies, evaluating swiftly. “If you’re willing to help out mortals, more skilled hands are needed where the tower came down in the Forelands. If you’re willing to answer to one, seek out Hyacinthe Phodovond. He’s gotten used to us and the Hunters need the aid.”
It’s a peculiar instruction, but xey follow it, and find that the Intercessor had not steered xem wrong, although, in the wake of the threat to the star finally passing, xey do find themselves faintly damning the other Ascian. This god-touched mortal is certainly worth working with, learning from his own god as he is, and these Hunters - both the official ones and the unofficial - certainly are worth xyr time, but oh, oh, this godtouched mortal is a terrible patient. Absolutely awful.
This time is no different than usual, this evening.
“What in Zodiark’s good name, Phodovond? Are you trying to have a permanent bend in your nose?”
Paregoros sighs, gripping the Elezen’s nose between xeir fingers in the Den’s infirmary.
“You should see what the other guyyyyyyyyfuck-” Hyacinthe flinches as bone rearranges itself, as veins right themselves.
“Don’t really want to hear it, you get yourself in far too much trouble.” Xeir tone is blunt, shoving a straw in a juice packet and shoving it into the other’s hand. “I should kick your ass.”
