just saw a video recommended to me about "the kinks as a reactionary band" that was over 2 hours and i never saw the channel before in my life. was quite sure it wasn't worth a time investment if it had such an attention-grabbing title that didn't really say anything so i went to the channel by itself. lots of worrying titles/thumbnails. then i went to their link twitter account just to make sure they were a racist and i didn't even scroll down that far to see that they said people with anauralia/aphantasia (no internal monologue/pictures in your head) deserve to be enslaved.

#sometimes i just find it hard to believe how reactionary people are. jeez #i have no interest in this guy's takes on the kinks #the guy was called the academic agent btw if you want to go block him or ever see his stuff recommended #tales from diana #you know when you can just smell something's fishy #like if someone i knew and respected made a video on how the kinks were 'problematic' i probably wouldnt defend #the kinks are one of my favorite bands but my honor is not tied to theirs #hell. the rolling stones are one of my favorite bands and i HATE them! #their music has had a remarkable personal influence on me and ill always love it but they have quite a lot of misogyny #not to mention casual racism in their discography. #i dont feel the need to pull these things apart in front of an audience as repentance. just. i know #we ought to have these sorts of conversations about the things we love and their issues. #i mean. not me right now. im not ready right now for a rigorous or academic deep dive #i just wanted to say that i saw this and it made me laugh/scoff. #admittedly i dont understand anauralia at all and i find it hard to relate to but it does interest me #aphantasia i dont have but i guess for me pictures are less vital to my thoughts than words #im a very word-reliant person #the academic agent thinks they ought to be enslaved though. jeeeeeesus.
