That Astral Sea Fish Suit art reminded me that one of the augmentations that really enchants me in Starfinder is the Angler’s Light. Which is, as it sounds, a biotech augmentation that gives you a bioluminescent antenna to raise the light level in your vicinity one step. It was originally developed by asteroid miners who needed both hands free for heavy equipment (which I love a lot, and also would like to make a Diasporan asteroid miner character just to have one of these), but amusingly has now also taken off in the Pact World rave scene as an aesthetic augmentation.
And. I do get that you could go with Bioluminescent Skin instead, which you can get faster and cheaper, has a bigger radius, and can be explicitly be suppressed for stealth reasons. And is prettier, if that’s a consideration. Or, you know. You could clip an actual light to your armour or get a headlamp. There are cheaper and more effective and more practical ways of getting light in this game. But.
I really just want my own personal anglerfish lure? IDK, the idea just enchants me. A hardbitten Diasporan asteroid miner, a human or a dwarf or a sarcesian or an ysoki, in no-nonsense utilitarian coveralls, with this delicate luminous antenna curling beneath their helmet and illuminating the rock and dust and ice in front of them.
I want one. I just really really want one. Heh.

Ok this might be OOC, but hear me out on this.
For an augment swap, Dys having the resistance to cold/heat and Tangent having literal no fear.
Me and a dear friend of mine briefly ruminated on how having no fear would affect someone like Tangent and we both joked about how she would try to turn herself into almost like a human guinea pig, spotting and eating mold off the wall to see what effect it will have on her body. Her disregard for her own personal health would still be present, but I like to imagine that in this scenario, it would manifest in her consuming the most random shit imaginable and experiments on herself 🤣.
As a result of this, Dys would have to constantly watch over his twin to prevent her from eating an obviously moldy sandwich. Once in awhile, back in the Stratospheric, you would hear a loud "TANG NO!" or "TANG DON'T PUT THAT IN YOUR MOUTH!" echoing throughout the ship's metal walls. This surprisingly keeps them close, but also, causes him to develop an interest in being a nurse, having to learn medical stuff at a young age to tend to Tangent after she injured herself from self experimentation multiple times.
(So yay for Instance having another assistant in the Medbay?)
But also imagine the two becoming an explorer duo (man I guess I'm really obsessed with explorer duos with Dys 😅). Dys, not only coming in with medical aid just in case, having to physically restrain fearless Tangent from recklessly approaching a pair of manticores.
But what does anyone think about this possible dynamic? Is it too OOC for these characters? I'm up for interpretations!
But in all seriousness, just imagine Dys in a doctor's lab coat... I feel like we're on the brink of something new people :P
