what are your thoughts on Christian mysticism

varies significantly- we’re all well aware of how christian mysticism was used as a tool by reactionaries around the 80′s, but there’s also examples of revolutionary christian mysticism- liberation theology, for example, or the use of the imagery of Exodus in the emancipation and civil rights movements. So it’s key to understand how reactionaries use christian imagery as a tool, so that we might combat that, while also keeping a nuanced perspective and not painting it all with the same brush, and acknowledging benign or revolutionary manifestations of christian mysticism as well.

what are some good, reliable resources that a newbie such as myself can use to learn more about occultism, mysticism and esoteric traditions?

original sources are probably your best bet- i’d recommend the Corpus Hermeticum, the Hieroglyphic Monad, Three Books on Occult Philosophy, or the original, the Emerald Tablet. also Manly P. Hall has some really good writing, and better yet, some recorded lectures as well- this one is a good one to start with, then from there you can just click through the related videos to find his other lectures on alchemy, they’re all pretty good.
