I've seen a couple takes on techno being Like That because he went a little insane due to the voices as an embodiment of the blood god and usually we see the blood god as this indifferent if not malicious entity but consider this: BENEVOLENT, KIND, LOVING blood god who saw this feral little kid growing up on his own and decided to make it their conduit because they fell in love head over heels the way parents fall in love when they first hold their new bown baby. BG tried to make a well adjusted adult out of tech but he was never properly socialized before being adopted so he's Just Like That DESPITE the blood god's best efforts
I always love to portray the Blood God in a more possitive light. In mythology, gods related to blood are usually also gods of family, chidbirth, loyalty, victory, wine, fire, or even LIFE. That last one is fun if you contrast it to Phil being the patron of the Goddess of death.

you absolutely already know this, but i adore your work. i think it's hard to avoid the pressure of being surrounded by people we might consider "true artists," but the fact is that, frankly, everyone who makes art is an artist.
before this year, i hadn't drawn a complete piece in nearly three years. the line work i did produce felt abysmal and i was tempted to give up. then, i saw your comic and i thought, "wow, that's really cute, and it looks like a fun style to emulate."
i drew you, pondering me, eating grass. and it WAS fun. i forgot how fun it could be. i can draw lesbian horses, or pony!WWX throwing a chicken, or me eating grass. i can even make shitty memes! and all of it, no matter how good or how bad, is fun again.
you bring a lot of fun to people here. that's something equally as important as people who cultivate fancy line work or expert level digital painting. i'm sure that's something you know, but i hope it never hurts to hear it.
happy first season, friend! i can't wait to see the rest.
As a chronic perfectionist, it's been a long journey for me to accept that 'done is better than nothing' and that the worst critical voice is my own. Sure there's people who've gone to professional art schools, and those with a more than a decade of experience on me, but honestly? Would I tell a child their sonic drawing isn't art? Just because they have no 'experience' or 'technique'? Absolutely not. So I'm no longer saying my efforts should not count as art.
At the end of the day, art is what we choose to make it. We have the power to create whatever we want. And we are going to use it to have fun! We never lost the love and fun for creation we all had as children, we just told ourselves it wasn't enough. But it really is B*)

I'm sure you've mentioned it before, but I was wondering who your favorite Made in Abyss character is and why they're your favorite? :3
I love all the main kids as well as many other characters so it's hard to choose but I think I'd have to say mine is Faputa. Not only is she a super interesting and cool character, but she's also A Creature. A little ball of fluff that can kill
---------------------
Thank you very much for the ask, anon! haha, "little ball of fluff that can kill"...yes, Faputa is great, and I think the main cast of Abyss is very endearing and very well fleshed-out. I was having a nice exchange on AO3 the other day regarding how GOOD the characterization of Abyss is and how it's often overlooked in favor of the also-extremely-good worldbuilding and plot, and why that might be, and was considering how it links together with some of my other Thoughts about ways this fandom is different from my other ones as far as what people are into (I need to finish the self-reblog I was gonna do about that on a recent related post actually). Anyway, pretty much the whole cast is endearing and/or enjoyable to watch in some capacity. But there is a definite answer as to favorite(s).
I put these up on my wall this evening, which may help to answer your question.
(Please note the scrolls. I missed the Amiami preorder period for those two because they closed earlier than the rest for some reason, but was able to get them from Suruga-ya eventually. They'll be on the wall at some point too.)
The story and cast prior to s2 I enjoyed in a, like, normal way, and then the Ganja squad arc hit me like a damn asteroid. These people...I've thought and felt and said so much about them, and after a year and a half I'm still brimming with something that feels like it has to be poured out, onto blank canvases and into the written word, and there's no end in sight. I have never had characters that were such good muses to me except perhaps for a couple I made up myself. Belaf has to be called my favorite at this point, but for a long time it was Vueko, and I really, really like Waz too; the manner in which these three characterize one another makes it a little painful to try to separate and rank them, but yes, that's the order. I dote on B and V in particular.
(Self portrait circa August 2023.)
At this point I have so much to say about them that being asked why I like them is hard to answer succinctly. Belaf is so, so sweet, but in an unusual weird, intense nerd way that I find incredibly endearing .....and then that kindness and strength of character fucking destroys him and it's tragic and beautiful and there is so much to pick apart in the manner and meaning of his transformation and his absolution, and it's also a great deal of fun to depict him as he was before. "Before" Belaf is such a fun sort of quirky nerd and his relationships wth Waz and Vue and Iru offer, like, SO much to turn over and look upon fondly, humor and friendship and loyalty and love.
And yet, when I write about his years of friendship with and loyalty and closeness to Wazukyan and Vueko and his parenthood and tutelage of Irumyuui and (note: hallucinatory) camaraderie with the other Ganja, hanging over my shoulder always is his downfall and it makes all of those things so much more beautiful, the tinny note of tragedy that is always playing at the edge of our hearing once we see it all and know how it must end.
(Another crispy fried self portrait from last year. I don't really draw myself these days at all EXCEPT in the context of making fun of my sages obsession.)
As for Vueko, since she's fairly popular maybe explaining her appeal isn't needed...or maybe it is, because it's so much more than the shy and gentle and somewhat silly person she is on the surface, it is so, so much more. Under the Layer of Fuheh she's made of steel --it's just that she's very, very softspoken, which people mistake for passivity and spinelessness. Even fans who purport to like her sometimes reduce her to victimhood and weakness. Perhaps because it's a misconception she clearly holds about herself, and a viewer can be forgiven for not putting together that Vueko might literally be the sage that acts with the most agency. There's so much more I can say that I love about her and her story, especially in the context of the other characters and the way she subtly skews some narrative and trope-related expectations, but I think that's the heart of it -- yes, she was endearing as soon as I met her, but when I saw the subtle yet unmistakeable strength under it all (and parsed that she never saw it herself, I think that little pop of tragedy really makes it hit for me lol), I think that's what made me adore her.
This next little bit might be kind of fucked up but what really makes that strength into something that haunts and compels me is that Vueko has so much determination and strength of character that she will unhesitatingly act to destroy the people she cares about very very much if she has decided at that moment that it is the best thing for them (Irumyuui, Belaf, Irumyuui again.) I can trace the real beginning of my obsession with these characters to when s2e8 aired and this is pretty much why.
So...yeah. Belaf and Vueko! Aaaand there's no way I can write about Waz here without making this post way too fucking long but.
One more shitty self portrait from earlier in the obsession should do it.
Yep!

the way tftb without sasha would be so fucking lame like.. people just hate fun. like apart from the fact that she had consistent and interesting dynamics with everyone and was kinda the glue that kept most of the characters together and made a lot of the plot not only more fun but also inch resting she also MADE A LOT OF THE QUIRKY PLOT POINTS THAT WOULD B SENSELESS WITHOUT HER MAKE SENSE.. plus mention a better dynamic than rhys and sashas. quickly. AND THE WAY RHYS STILL KEEPS HER PICTURE ON HIS DESK YEARS LATER IN NTFTB.. THERES NOTHING ELSE TO BE SAID people have no fucking taste. luckily my girl keeps winning no matter what i hope shes out there getting that treasure living lavish
Absolutely LOL! I love her so much, she’s such a darling funny character and absolutely the glue that sticks everyone together. I’d even argue to say some of the most emotional moments in the game are fueled by her character. I had a lot of fun writing her back in the day and frankly she’s such a delight- I love her!
At the end of the day, no matter who doesn’t like her in fandom or otherwise, there’s one character who canonically loves her.

#2, 3, and 11 for "a present from the soul" for the writer ask game! -lizzy
You're too sweet sending me this ask😭 This is actually one of my favorite fics that I've written so I am THRILLED to talk about it.
You can read A Present From The Soul here if your interested.
I'm very tired when I answer this so excuse any rambling and typos lol. ANYWAYS.
2. What scene did you first put down?
I think the first scene I actually wrote for this fic was Jaskier giving Geralt a rock(basically the first scene in the fic lol). I've heard people with gift giving as a love language love giving/receiving little things like rocks or leaves, because to them, it means something. I knew I wanted to make Jaskier's gifts be small but meaningful, and what better way to start off the fic then by having him give the person he loves a something as simple as a rock? Especially when, to him, it reminds him of pearls and the color of Geralts hair.
3. What's your favorite line of narration?
This one was hard because there are actually quite a few lines in this fic that I loved. But if I had to choose, it'd probably be this:
"He loves doing this for her, allowing her even a moment of reprieve. So she can be a child again. Just a child enjoying a story told by a bard."
I really liked this line because we rarely get to see Ciri just getting to be her age. And the idea that Jaskier, a bard, can give her that joy, that freedom to just listen to a grand story being told by a famous bard. UGH. ITS SO SWEET. Definitely one of my favorite parts to write.
11. What do you like best about this fic?
I loooove exploring dynamics in fics, whether they be platonic, romantic, or familial. Especially between characters who never or rarely interact. So exploring the dynamics between, not only Geralt and Yennefer, which is already throughly explored in many other fics, but also with Istredd and Ciri was such a blast!
Love languages was a really fun way to explore these dynamics individually, but I loved going in depth on how I imagine Istredd and Jaskiers dynamic would be. I mean, two sarcastic scholars in one room? How could you not want to explore that? And I'm such a sucker for Jaskier and Ciri having their own father daughter dynamic, especially because they both come from wealth and understand the shallowness that can come with that. The idea that Ciri gets to be a little kid with him(and the others, but mostly him) is so precious to me!
Thank you for sending this ask, it was such a lovely surprise and was so fun to talk about! Now I have to send one back 👁👁 I'm so curious about yalls thought process when writing your own fics!

I don't know if you're the same, but when I find a TV show that I REALLY like and just don't want it to end, and I know it's already completed I just stop watching it 😭
like, it could be in the middle of a season when things start to work out to everyone, or literally on the last episode. I just don't want it to end and in my head if i never press play they'll forever be stuck on this limbo inside my head and I'll be forever happy 🙏
or sometimes, it's cause i know the moment I press play something I don't want it to happen will happen. for example, I LOVE the good place. top fav shows, but I still to this day haven't watched the last episode. I watched every episode except this one. I read the title said "no" and exited the app. It's been years. I guess I have a problem with endings :') I just want them to last forever like, those are my little guys inside my tv
(sorry for the yapping)
i know a lot of people like this😭😭 my personal approach when finishing something i really don’t want to end is to finish it, and then watch it again immediately after. and then again. and however many times it takes for me to finally put it down like deadass im already excited to start succession over and i’m not even on the last ep yet
