By • Olalekan Fagbade JUST IN: Nigerian Navy warns Nigerians over recruitment Excercise The Nigerian Navy (NN) has warned applicants undergoing its Basic Training School (NNBTS) Batch 35 Recruitment Exercise holding in Lagos, Rivers and Kaduna States to avoid being duped by fraudsters. The Navy gave the warning in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday by its Director, Naval Information,  Commodore Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan. Ayo-Vaughan said the attention of the navy high command had been drawn to the sharp activities of some unscrupulous persons regarding the ongoing exercise. According to him, these unscrupulous persons have been deceiving innocent applicants and defrauding them of huge sums of money with promises of recruiting them successfully into the NN. “Pertinently, it is to be noted that recruitment into the NN from online registration to the end of the recruitment process is entirely free. “The NN has not contracted or authorised any agent or individual to collect money or any incentive from applicants in order to help them in the recruitment process or placement as successful candidate(s) for training. “Accordingly, applicants and their guardians are advised to report the activities of these unscrupulous individuals to the nearest Naval Unit or Nigeria Police Station. “This information is for NNBTS Batch 35 applicants and genera #NigerianNavy #Nigerians #RecruitmentExcercise

Pirates Apprehended As Nigerian Navy Hijacks Chinese Vessel (Photos)
Tumblr media
10 pirates have been arrested by the Nigerian Navy after hijacking a Chinese vessel, MV HAILUFANG II off the coast of Ivory Coast.
Tumblr media
The 18 crew members who were rescued after the attack comprised of Chinese, Ghanaians and Ivorians. Commodore Ibrahim Shettima, the Commander Nigeria Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT said the arrest and rescue mission took place on 15 May. Shettima said NNS NGURU was deployed to intercept the vessel after the Nigerian Navy was alerted of the attack.
Tumblr media
He said; “The pirates took control of the vessel and directed the vessel toward Nigerian waters. “On interception of the vessel at about 140nm south of Lagos Fairway Buoy, the pirates refused to comply with the orders of the Navy Ship. “Hence, the NN had to conduct an opposed boarding of the vessel. “All ships crew were safely rescued, while the 10 pirates were arrested,” he said. The commodore noted that the last five known or documented pirates’ attacks were outside Nigerian waters, which the NN responded in the interest of regional security. “This is aptly captured in the NN Total Spectrum Maritime Strategy, which covers Nigeria’s outermost maritime area of interest, encompassing the entire West African waters and the GoG. ” This underscores the need for increased regional cooperation in terms of information sharing and further deepening of response capability. ” For instance, this rescue effort was bolstered by additional intel received from the Beninous Navy during the operation. “The NN has the capability and will power to deal with such perpetrators." The Imo State Police Command has identified the naval officer who allegedly killed a youth corps member, Emeka Amadi, at a checkpoint along the Owerri-Umuahia road on May 26, 2018. The command, through its Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, disclosed this to Southern City News on Tuesday. Enwerem, who did not disclose the name of the naval officer, said, “The officer is currently going through naval departmental processes. It is after the processes that he will be handed over to the police for more investigations.” The late Amadi, who hailed from Umukwe in Ndiegbelu, Awaka in Owerri North Local Government Area of the state and serving in Aba, Abia State, was reportedly killed on May 26 by a naval team at a checkpoint along the Owerri-Umuahia road. It was alleged that the naval team connived with some members of the Umukwe community, identified as New Face of Umukwe to deal with the youths of the village. Amadi was a graduate of Philosophy from the Imo State University in Owerri. Southern City News further gathered that members of the New Face of Umukwe consist of a group of Umukwe village members, who came back from different locations with their families to settle in the village. #michygist_blog #michygist #naval #navy #nigeriannavy #nysc #nigeria #government #killings

This Landing Ship Tank (LST) is currently en route Nigeria from Dubai. It'll be in Nigeria soon. It's the first military landing ship that Nigeria will own in the last 42 years. It's a naval warship that will make our naval officers perform amphibious military operations. The ship you're looking at is the largest military ship Nigeria ever had. Good luck Nigeria.
