Salvador Dalí is a name synonymous with Surrealism.
He changed art history, transforming our experience of painting and sculpture. In 1935, Dali was inspired by movie star Mae West, and produced a watercolour of her face as an apartment, and later her lips were transformed into a sofa.
With your help, the NGV has the opportunity to acquire his
1938 Mae West Lips Sofa, one of only five in existence.
This international work will become the largest and most important Surrealist sculpture in the NGV Collection, and will be a major coup for an Australian institution.
We warmly invite vou to support this appeal and we are truly grateful for donations of any size to make this acquisition possible. Thank you for your support.
Learn more and donate to the NGV's Annual Appeal via the link in bio.

In honour of First Nations Day at the AO here’s a few of my favourites from our rainy day visit to the NGV.
Started our indoor day at the library. Couple of exhibitions - one celebrating 40 years of Fringe Festivals and the other called Year of the Book. You never really consider the significance of these two items on our human development. Fringe Festivals push our limits and of course, books can do the same but also record our history. Fascinating.
Finished off our day with some tasty wonton soup for dinner. I think it’s going to be a great evening for more tennis viewing.
Rain rain go away, come again another day. Wondering if that chant will work.
