REALLY? IN A CAFE?

As Seunghyub watched you order, eyes practically sparkling with joy at the thought of eating, there was only one thought that crossed his mind. Well, not really crossed, more like trampled and stomped and plagued like some sort of disease. But it wasn’t unwelcome— or maybe it was, since the nervousness and butterflies and embarrassing heat that crept up to his ears were all side effects of it.

He wants to marry you.

He didn't just want to, he needed to. He’s planned the proposal about a million or more times in his head and even wrote down some bad cheesy speeches about how much he loves you and how he wouldn’t be able to live without you. At this point, the only thing stopping him is his own nerves. He knew he would stumble over his words and probably cry. Just the thought of going down on one knee and asking you that question had his heart racing uncomfortably in his chest.

“—and one caramel latte. That’s all!” You turned back to Seunghyub and he had to avert his gaze to the window before you could notice how much he had been staring. But as soon as he heard giggles escape from your mouth, he knew he’d been caught.

“Baby, your ears are so red!”

You pointing it out was enough to make him shrink a little in his chair out of embarrassment, and not just his ears, but his entire face coloured a deeper shade of crimson.

Worst of all, he noticed that you had gotten up from your chair and walked over to him. Your hands cupped his cheek, and before he could even ask you anything, you’d placed a kiss on his nose. You pulled away just to press another one to his forehead amidst light laughter.

He almost felt like he couldn’t breathe. He was so unbelievably in love with you that it was slowly driving him insane— and all he could imagine in that moment is you delivering those same kisses but with a ring on your finger. He could imagine waking up next to you and being able to call you his wife. He knew that you would adore calling him your husband just as much as he would go crazy over hearing you say it.

Everything felt so light in the seconds after you kissed his face. The nervousness went away, and so did the racing of his heart. Even the weight of the ring box in his back pocket didn’t feel heavy anymore.

Seunghyub knew it wasn’t the best moment to do it. He knew he also might regret it later— not that he had been planning anything big, but just that doing it in a small cafe wasn’t the most private of places.

But he simply couldn’t wait any longer. Every single cell in his body was buzzing, and before his brain could think better of it, he was pulling the ring box out from his back pocket and letting the 4 words slip from his mouth as you still cupped his face.

You were shocked to say the least when one second you were cooing over your boyfriend’s blushy face and the next second he was asking you to marry him. You weren’t quite sure what spurred him on, not that you cared in the moment. You were agreeing without hesitation as soon as you heard the question, elation filling up your entire body.

You would have prodded him about why he chose to propose at that moment, but as soon as he had finished slipping the ring on your finger and pressing his lips to yours, the food you had ordered was ready. You had no choice but to slide back to your seat, tossing your fiancé a look that he knew meant he would definitely be getting some questions about this later.
