Top 4 Tips to Clean Your Sidewalks
Sidewalks play a vital role in the way we live our lives. In cities, they are forever busy, crammed with people and eventually cover by dust, dirt, and mud. To begin with, they are an important medium to walk and reach your desired destination in the city. They can both be your best friend and your worst enemy. Clean Sidewalks have become a quintessential part of the American way of life. There was a time when these cement slabs were part of a humble neighborhood street that was dirty and neglected. The concept of beautiful and scenic sidewalks had become the talk of the town throughout the United States. Until now, every house that is being built has a clean, cemented sidewalk in front of it.

By cleaning the sidewalk, you can help protect more people from their health. Here are the reasons why it is important to clean your sidewalk:
It helps prevent disease outbreaks and keeps the environment safe from hazardous materials.

When the sidewalk becomes dirty and slippery, you'd better clean it before it's too late. Here are some ways to clean a sidewalk:
Sweep and scrub the sidewalks, if possible. Don't forget the edges and cracks. If you don't have time, sweep it at least once a week and spot-clean it when needed.
Squeegee the sidewalk with a long-handled squeegee so that you can reach the cracks and corners. This can help avoid neighborhood children from slipping on the wet surface. Do this at least once a week to prevent any damage from occurring.
Water down the sidewalk with the garden hose–be sure not to do this in the middle of summer, as it will only contribute to making it hotter out there! The water should be just enough to create a thin layer of moisture on top of the concrete or asphalt.
Dust mop or sweep off the excess water. To make the Sidewalk floor dry and easy to walk on, remove excess water by mopping or sweeping it.
Everyone wants to live in a neighborhood that is safe and tidy, free from dangers like animals, polluted water, and trash. "You Don't Know Who I Am?" Colin (Not Okay movie) Imagine- Part 2
Tumblr media
Part One
You woke up much later than the usual time you would to go to work, had a small panic when you realized the time, only to have it set in shortly after, that you were unemployed and needed to go out and find a job. The only problem, was you had no skills. You couldn't go get a customer service job, you had a degree in journalism, and working at your local CVS wouldn't pay rent, never mind the other bills you had. You took a quick look online for job listings, maybe a personal assistant or another magazine needs an apprentice, but the search wasn't coming up with much.
After you took a shower, you realized you missed a call from your mom, and decided to give her a call back. You decided it was a bad idea to tell her what happened, and to just keep it to yourself until you find a new job. The conversation went just how you expected it. Your brother got a big promotion, oh, and guess what, his wife is pregnant, and "honey, you're 22, when are you going to find someone?". Then your other, younger brother is going to basic in 2 months, and they're having a big party, "you just have to come back home, honey, we miss you so much".
"Yeah mom, I miss you guys too" you said sadly. You wished you missed them more, but truthfully, living at home was miserable, and your achievements were never as good as your siblings. It was very likely, you wouldn't be going home to see them, you didn't even have a car.
"Alright mom, yeah, I'll try to find the money for a flight. Love you too" you ended the call and sighed deeply. A part of you feeling empty. You had no one. No boyfriend, no friends, no job, and no family to support you.  A tear rolled down your cheek and you wiped it away quickly, deciding in that moment to go for a walk.
New York always felt safe to you, but that's probably because you've been here so long, you don't even care anymore. The smell of the trash, the urine in the streets, none of it really bothered you anymore.
The local Starbucks was filled with tourists, the line leading out the door. Thankfully, there was a local coffee shop across the street that seemed to have a very short line. You didn't come here often, but whenever you did, the barista was always kind, and the coffee was always fabulous. It was expensive, but who knows how long your savings will hold up, might as well enjoy it today, you definitely needed a pick me up.
As you walked down the street, you noticed a couple of people standing on the edge of the sidewalk, looking across the street with a grin. Thinking there was some sort of celebrity around, you decided to take a look, maybe they needed a PA. The cloud of smoke gave it away. "Colin!" someone screamed and waved, almost falling into the street.
"Yo!" you heard back, Colin throwing up peace signs. You rolled your eyes and kept walking, enjoying the views of NYC like a tourist would.
It was 2 PM by the time you got back home. You had no luck finding a job, but then again, how could you in this market?
Most of the time, you paid no attention to the people on the streets. It wasn't like you to make eye contact, your anxiety was far too high for that, but the cloud of smoke that was Colin kept following you since you saw him this morning".
"Hey, shorty" he smirked as you got to your door to type in the code.
"Hi, Colin" you said simply.
"You never hit me up on Insta" he took a drag of his vape, "I thought we had a connection".
You rolled your eyes, "drop the fuck boy act, and maybe we can find that connection" you smiled back, walking into your apartment complex and over to the elevator. You could see his face through the window from the elevator, he was standing still, his mouth slightly open, shocked that I would say such a thing.
Rage was still boiling in you from yesterday, you had to find a way to get back at Cindy. You had a small blog that you hadn't posted on in months since Cindy was keeping you so busy with bullshit articles. The blog only had a few hundred followers, but you decided to write about how and why you got fired, purposely putting Colin's name in there, maybe he'll spark some more views. You scrolled through Instagram in the mean time, looking at your successful friends on their lavish vacations, feeling both envy and rage. Colintheweedman popped up on your suggested. You must have said or typed his name so many times, the system heard you.
His profile was all pictures of him in a bathing suit on lavish vacations, or in obnoxious clothes smoking a obnoxiously large blunt. How did he even get this famous? you thought to yourself. He was very good looking, and you had to admit, his sleeve, made you feel ways you have never felt before, but his alter ego that he plays up on, was so annoying. You hit the follow button anyway.
It was time for dinner when you finished the rough draft. There was no food in your house due to the fact that you usually stayed late at work and got something on the way home.
"Sup" you heard the familiar voice as you started walking down the street, the blonde catching up to you.
"Are you stalking me or something?" you asked, starting to get concerned that he was always around you.
"Nah, I've been staying with a friend around here, I'm not a fan of being cooped up all day" he took a drag of his vape.
"Thought this was the slums" you mocked him, not bothering to look at his reaction.
"Bruh, it is, I've seen the inside of those apartments, they're small as shit" he made a face of disgust. You nodded in agreement, "Where you headed to anyway?"
"Probably CVS, get some dollar stuff for dinner" you said is a sarcastic, mock happy tone.
"Shit babe, you're that broke?" he said, the smoke cloud obstructing your view again.
"I don’t have a job, and don't know when I'll find one, so just trying to make sure I can still pay rent" you shrugged, looking down at the ground.
"Nah, you ain't eating the shit, come on" he said waving you to go across the street with him, "there's a nice place up here we can stop at".
"What, like a date" you cocked an eyebrow, "a date with fabulous Colin" you batted your eyelashes.
"Hell yeah, baby, would you like that" he bit he lip and got closer to you. The gesture making you feel tingly and excited, but you came to you senses in time to keep to your word.
"That's okay" you stepped back, "I'll stick to my original meal".
This time he coked an eyebrow at you, "have a good night, Colin", and you knew he was watching you walk away. You heard a frustrated little grunt and then footsteps coming up beside you.
"Wait, girl" he swaggered in front of you, "you don’t want to go out with me?"
He was trying to be seductive again, probably feeling that you were intrigued the first time he did this.
"Not when you're 'Colintheweedguy'" you said his insta name in a mocking tone.
"Fine" he scoffed, "I got plenty bitches waiting for me". He shouldered past you. You shook your head not really caring, and kept walking in the direction of CVS.
You're sure he wanted you to chase him, but that simply not something you would ever do, besides, if he really liked you, and wanted to go out with you, he could just not be his alter ego and be a normal person for once. He showed it to you yesterday until he spotted his fan boys from afar and had to put the act back on, he can do it again.
Thankfully it was late enough that not a lot of people were on the street and the lines at CVS weren't long. You picked out a soda and a water, some popcorn and a few ramen packs to last you a few days, totaling to about $15 bucks.
"Thanks" you said to the cashier, grabbing your bag and heading out.
As you walked out, you noticed it was starting to get dark and your stomach was suddenly growling, it was such a nice night to walk around, and you would love to go to central park, but you hadn't eaten all day and felt a little faint. Last thing you needed was to pass out on the side walk again.
"Hey" a stranger said behind you. You ignored it and kept walking, thinking this person was either on their phone, or talking to someone else.
"Hey" they called again, catching up to you. He was wearing a plain black hoodie and a black hat. It was getting dark, and you didn't have your glasses, so you couldn't quite make out who it was, but for sure you didn't know them, and they were about to mug you. You continued to ignore them, "It's Colin" he said normally, taking his hat off.
"Oh shit" you gaped, "sorry, didn't recognize you without your neon clothes and the cloud of smoke."
He smirked, "ha ha" he said dryly.
"So you're normal now?" you asked haphazardly.
"Want to get some dinner?" he asked in response, eyeing your CVS bag full of ramen.
"No thanks, I have a date with some Netflix and noodles" you smiled, coming up to your doorway, "unless you want to enjoy some ramen with me" you offered jokingly.
"Yeah sure" he said almost instantly, "I haven't had that type of ramen in… shit… years"
"Oh" you didn't expect this "uh, yeah, okay, uh, come on up then". You typed in your door code, holding the door open for him to follow.
You were a little unsure of this situation, you barely knew the dude, and didn't know what his intentions were, but part of you felt safe and secure with him, so you decided not to let it bother you. Instead, you texted your friend from back home just in case she doesn't hear from you in a couple of days, to notify police. The ride in the elevator for silent for the most part, you weren't sure what to say, or do, and were suddenly extremely aware of how you looked and how messy your hair was. You took a good look at him, he might portray himself as this unkempt, stoner sort, always wearing baggy, bright clothing, but looking at his facial hair, it looks tidy and kempt, like he just trimmed it up this morning. He didn't smell like weed either, you weren't sure if he went home and showered before he came and found you, but even thinking back, you never got that smell from him, not even his vape. His cologne was very enticing, you wished he was walking in front of you so you would be able to smell it more strongly.
You unlocked the door and let him go through first, he started checking out the artwork on your walls. He nodded as he looked around at them. A few band posters caught his eye, and he noticed one of them was signed.
"I love them" he grinned, pointing at the poster, "fuck, they're like my favorite band".
You grinned, "really? I didn't think someone like you would be into alternative music".
He rolled his eyes, probably annoyed that he's showing his true self and you're figuring it all out.
"Where are you from, anyway?" you asked, filling a pot with water for the ramen.
He paused a minute, not sure if he wanted to make something else up or reveal himself again, he sighed, "Maine".
Your eyebrows raised in surprise, "I would have never guessed that". You started to walk over to sit on the couch while the water boils.
He chortled, "Why's that?"
"You? A farm boy republican? Doesn't seem to fit your personality or the alter ego you pose as" you shrugged, falling into the couch.
"It's not really bullshit, you know", he offered, sitting down next to you, "It's just more exaggerated".
"I don't know, you seem pretty arrogant when you're being Colintheweedman, when you were just Colin, you held my box, held the door open, had a nice conversation, and with you're alter ego, all you do is hit that vape, and stay high at all times" you shrugged, watching for his reaction.
He nodded slightly and sighed, looking out the window next to your couch, "yeah, I'm not really high all the time, I actually only take edibles to go to sleep at night, smoking makes me so fucking tired".
"So what's in the vape" you asked, curious.
"It's just flavored smoke, there's not even nicotine in it" he stated, taking it out and handing it to you.
"Oh" you analyzed the vape and took a drag, it tasted like watermelon lip balm.
"I don't even inhale it" he smirked, sucking in and letting out a cloud.
You laughed, "So it really is an alter ego", you got up to go put the ramen in now that you could hear the water boiling.
"I guess" he shrugged, following you over to the kitchen and leaning on the counter, "It's still me, it’s just the part of me that doesn’t have any anxieties" he paused for a moment, watching you put the ramen in the water and stir it around with a fork, "I can be as stupid as I want, and they still love me".
"Not a bad gig, I guess" you said, watching the noodles come apart from the brick.
He shrugged, coming over closer to the stove, standing behind you, slightly off the right so you could still see him in the corner of your eye. He was looking around at your kitchen, eyeing all the pots and pans.
"You like to cook?" he asked. You shut off the burner and portioned the ramen into two bowls.
"When I can afford it" you half laughed, strange question to answer when you're putting two packs of $0.58 ramen into a bowl, "do you want broth in yours?"
He stared at you, like you were crazy for asking, "uh, yeah, it's not ramen without it" he dragged on.
"But if you have broth, there's like no flavor from the packet" you stated.
"That told me more about you than talking to you ever did" he smiled down at the bowl you handed him.
You scoffed, "like what?", you asked as you walked to the couch, Colin following your lead.
"That you’re a psychopath" he chuckled, twirling his fork in the noodles.
"You have an alter ego that smoked eight joints at once, and talks like he grew up uneducated, and I'M the psychopath?" you glared at him, a small smirk on his face.
"Fair" he grinned, "and hey, you made great ramen".
"Thanks" you smiled back, "I'm a pro, been surviving off them for years".
He snorted a bit, trying not to laugh with his mouth full. There was a comfortable silence as you two ate, The Office playing in the background, although neither of you were paying attention. Your thoughts were wrapped up on whatever what going on here, and thinking about whatever he might be thinking about. You were sure that's what was on his mind too. Bowls were empty, you felt relatively full and leaned back onto the couch. Colin was positioned in the corner between the arm rest and back cushion, so he was facing you, but his eyes were on the TV. He looked so calm and normal in his every day clothes, you couldn't help but wonder who else knew this side of him, and which one he preferred.
"What?" he smiled. Fuck, he caught you staring.
"Sorry" you blushed. He was still smiling at you.
"Hey, so" he cleared his throat, "I'm really sorry you lost your job, but I know of an opening in Depravity if you're interested"
Your eyes light up, you were suddenly wide awake with excitement, "Are you kidding? Holy shit, what is it?"
He chuckled at your excitement, "I mean" he waved his hand a bit, "It's probably no the best job, but it’s a job" he offered.
You eyed him suspiciously, "What is it?" you asked cocking your head slightly to the side.
He laughed, his hand anxiously rubbing his now blushed face, "It's uh" he stammered, "you'd be my assistant".
You blushed harder than you were before and definitely harder than he was. Not only would be able to hang out with colintheweedguy, you would get normal Colin in the down time. You could see where he lives, go on trips with him, take pictures of him for his insta, and possibly, even meet other celebrities, he had quite a few following him. You were beyond excited at the thought, but you weren't sure if you should show it.
"You mean like, do you laundry and remind you of appointments?" you scoffed, Colin's face going red.
"I mean, yeah I guess" he rubbed the back of his neck, "Sorry, I thought it would be a good gig and it pays good".
The atmosphere was suddenly a little weird, and you didn't want him to leave quite yet, or pass up an opportunity to have a job and not eat ramen every day until your savings run out.
"Sounds like fun" you smiled, "tell me more".
"Oh", he loosened up a bit, seemingly taking a breath, "yeah, so, like, you would get dry cleaning, make and keep my appointments, give me reminders of them, if my manager needed to schedule anything, any sort of promotion, they would go through you and you would be in charge of my schedule and making sure I'm where I need to be, basically".
"Sounds easy" you smiled a cheesy smile, "when can I start?".
He smiled back, looking relieved, the atmosphere settling, "How 'bout you come to my place tomorrow, I can show you my schedule and what my life normally looks like"
"Okay, sounds good" you smiled and leaned back into the couch. The rest of the night was casual conversation and jokes. Poking fun at each other, and Colin eyeing your decorations and making a comment on them. Occasionally, The Office would make you laugh. Colin actually made a comment about the show that had you in tears laughing. Eventually, you got into watching funny YouTube videos, the animal ones were clearly both your favorite.
"Alright" he stood up eventually, stretching, "I have to go, but here" he reached into his pocket giving you his phone, "put your number in there and I'll text you the address".
You added your name and number, and took a quick picture to put as your contact ID. Colin smiled as you did that.
"Alright, I'll text you everything when I get home, and let me know if you need a ride, I can have someone come get you" he smiled.
"Thanks"  you smiled, following him to the door, "seriously, thank you"
"Not a problem, shorty" he said in his alter ego tone, and gave you a quick hug as he walked out, "I'll hit you up later, baby" he called down the hall, causing you to roll your eyes.
The smile was plastered on your face, you weren't getting rid of this very easily. Every time you thought of the night, you smiled. His stupid jokes, his dumb, cute smirk, his laughing, him being able to make you laugh until tears. It was like a dream. It was one of the best nights you've has in New York since moving here. You started to clean up and do your bedtime routine. Cleaning your face, brushing your teeth and hair, and made for bed. It was late, and you had to be up in the morning to get the details from Colin and get to his house whenever he woke up, which you were guessing was often late in the morning, but still, you wanted to be ready.
As you drifted off, you hoped you had good dreams about how your day would go tomorrow.

Former Gov. David Paterson warned Sunday that New York City could revert to the crime- and debt-riddled days of the 1970s if government doesn’t ease up on developers — adding the Big Apple’s migrant crisis is at its “tipping point,” too.
“Look what happened at the hotels where the hotels were filled up,” the former governor told host John Catsimatidis on “Cat’s Roundtable” on WABC-77 radio, referring to the city’s desperate attempt to house the flood of recent asylum-seekers from the US’ southern border.
“The excess migrants, mostly males … chose to sleep on the street rather than go to another facility,” Paterson, 69, said.
“I think it’s a tipping point,” he said of the crisis.
Paterson, 69, also warned that higher taxes, particularly on the real-estate industry, will cause more people and businesses to leave New York.
Albany lawmakers “seem to almost treat certain members of the population as if they were expendable. And they’re not expendable,” Paterson said. “We need them to be here. We need affordable and luxury housing.
“[The real estate industry] really is the backbone of the city. You’ll really find out how bad it can be if they do move away. Or you have situations like you had in the ’70s where you had the proliferation of crime and the un-affordability of housing… created a really squalid condition around the city.”

Paterson credited New York City Mayor Eric Adams with “bravely” standing up to the White House to demand federal dollars to help ease at least one dire situation — the migrant pressure on the five boroughs.
“Adams bravely has taken on the [Biden] administration and talked to them about the problems of sending all these migrants [to New York] but not sending any significant resources to help house them,” the former governor said.
He said this weekend marked one year since Texas Gov. Greg Abbott sent the first busload of asylum-seekers to the Big Apple from the US border with Mexico.
More than 54,000 have since been dumped in New York City, straining local services and finances.
He said fed-up New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams also spoke out last week about the issue.
“The excess migrants, mostly males … chose to sleep on the street rather than go to another facility,” Paterson, 69, said.Seth Gottfried
“He had a press conference warning President Biden that he might not get the votes out of New York that he thinks he would get if he doesn’t do something about this migrant crisis,” said Paterson, who as with Williams and Biden is a Democrat.
“Now, I don’t think that that would really happen, but it was certainly an element of frustration that the public advocate was fomenting that everyone else feels,” Paterson said.
The former governor added that things for the city will only get worse if government doesn’t wise up on how it treats developers.
He called the city development community “essential” and “the backbone of the city’s revenue” while recalling a recent chat with business leaders.
Asylum seekers wait on the sidewalk in line, to get into the Roosevelt Hotel. Robert Miller
“What they raised is that the Albany politicians, as they put it, have no understanding of real estate development or business, have a total resentment against people who do it and that it is causing them to make their lives more miserable,” Paterson said.
“[The industry has] really picked up on that kind of resentment. It’s part of an overall problem… we’re having these days: We look at people. We find out what they do. And we have an immediate judgment against them without … spending any time trying to understand them,” Paterson said.

NYC Mayor Wants To Force People To Lower Their Mask (And Why This Is Not The Solution He Claims It Is)
Who hurt Mayor Adams and why does he go to such great lengths to cause so much harm to New York City? As an activist who loves their city, I prefer to shop at small local businesses versus the giant corporate chains, I realize how hard it is for a small business to make it (especially in these times) and how vital the movement to support them really is. That said, as a proud disabled woman who gets around via a motorized wheelchair, I sometimes have no choice but to shop at the larger chain stores due to accessibility issues. It only takes one step to prevent someone like me from having access to a store, but when I see that a small local business has put in the effort to get a ramp etc, it does not go unnoticed. But lately, Mayor Adams has added yet another obstacle for disabled people like me. I don't know what he hopes to accomplish by forcing store employees to harass customers like myself to lower our mask if we want to enter a store. While many people like to pretend that the pandemic is over (and I get it, we all want it to be, but fun fact: that's really not how this works), a lot of us do not have the luxury of such illusions. For people like us, wearing a mask is not optional. From the beginning of the pandemic, my safety as a disabled person has been at best an after thought. And now Mayor Adams wants to make it even harder by forcing people like me to lower our mask, which immediately puts me at risk for COVID. But he's not just harming people like myself. If I can't safely shop at the local stores, then I have no choice but to give my money to the larger online chains. As a result, smaller businesses will lose money, and is this really what Mayor Adams thinks the city needs right now? It also makes you wonder, where does the absurdity end? Many people for religious reasons cover their face (which is their prerogative.) Is the Mayor going to make store employees harass them as well? Will this policy be enforced consistently or will this turn into yet another form of profiling? Mayor Adams insists that this is being done in the name of public safety, but I think the majority of New Yorkers can see through that. After all, if the Mayor really wanted to reduce crime, then he wouldn't be so eager to massively cut funding to education and social services, while giving the NYPD an increased budget. More police has never been the answer, and if his goal was truly to reduce crime, then he would address the root issues as to why crime exists in the first place. Here's a hint: it has nothing to do with people wearing masks.

How do I request a sidewalk repair service in New York?
Tumblr media
Sidewalks are a vital component of New York City's busy streets and  provide pedestrians with safe pathways. Sidewalks are usually taken for granted, but if left unmaintained, they can quickly become an unforeseen hazard, resulting in accidents.
Damaged sidewalks might have serious effects on your health and finances. Injuries from sidewalk incidents can have extensive consequences for pedestrians. Let's delve into this topic and investigate how to request a sidewalk repair service in NYC.
Identifying Sidewalk Damage:
It is crucial to determine the damage before requesting a repair. Keep an eye out for these indicators:
Cracks:
Look for any cracks that are expanding or that are wider than a quarter-inch.
Unevenness:
Check to see if soil movement or tree roots are the cause of any uneven, sunken, or raised sidewalk.
Potholes:
Keep an eye out for areas where the surface has gotten worse.
Trip Hazards:
Look for any uneven or raised surfaces that may allow someone to trip and fall.
Understanding Your Responsibilities:
As a property owner in New York City, it is your responsibility to maintain your sidewalks. The New York City Department of Transportation has very strict rules and regulations regarding pedestrian safety. However , regularly inspecting your sidewalks , cleaning them, and fixing the damages on time can save you from violations and fines.
The Repair Request Process:
After determining the damage to the sidewalk and understanding your responsibilities, take the following actions to file a repair request.
Contact the designated department:
Consult with your  government or the appropriate agency in charge of maintaining the sidewalks. This can be the transportation department or the public works department of your city.
Provide complete details:
Clearly state the extent of the damage you've seen and the location of the damaged sidewalk. If you can, include any supporting documentation you have, such as images or videos.
Send in the request:
Whether filing a repair request online, over the phone, or in person, be sure you follow the prescribed procedure.
Follow-Up and Additional Considerations:
After submitting your repair request, keep the following in mind
Follow-Up:
If you don't receive a response within a reasonable time, consider following up with the authority to ensure your request is being addressed.
Safety Measures:
In the meantime, take precautions to ensure the safety of pedestrians. Use temporary barriers or caution signs to alert people to the damaged area.
Community Involvement:
Encourage your neighbors or local community to also report sidewalk damages. Collective efforts can help expedite the repair process and improve the overall safety of the neighborhood.
How do I request sidewalk repair in Manhattan?
If you're looking to request a sidewalk repair in Manhattan, here's what you can do:
Contact the NYC Department of Transportation (DOT):
The DOT is responsible for sidewalk repairs in Manhattan. You can reach out to them through their website or by calling 311.
Provide detailed information:
When making your request, be sure to provide specific details about the location of the damaged sidewalk. Include the nearest address or intersection to help the DOT identify the exact spot.
Submit the request:
Follow the instructions provided by the DOT to submit your repair request. They may have an online form or a designated phone number for this purpose.
Follow-Up:
If you don't receive a response within a reasonable time, you can follow up with the DOT to check the status of your request. They may provide you with an update or estimated timeline for the repair.
How much does it cost to fix a small crack in the sidewalk?
The cost of fixing a small crack in the sidewalk can vary depending on a few factors, such as the size of the crack and the materials needed for the repair. In general, smaller cracks can be repaired with simple methods like filling them with concrete or sealant, which can be relatively inexpensive. However, for a more accurate estimate, it's best to consult with a local contractor or professional who can assess the specific crack and provide you with a cost estimate. They'll be able to give you a better idea of the expenses involved.
Temporary solutions for a trip hazard on the sidewalk
If you come across a trip hazard on the sidewalk, there are a few temporary solutions you can try:
Mark the Hazard:
Use brightly colored tape or paint to mark the area and make it more visible to pedestrians. This can help alert people to the potential hazard.
Place a temporary barrier:
If it's safe to do so, you can place a temporary barrier, such as cones or caution signs, around the hazard to prevent people from accidentally tripping.
Report the Hazard:
It's important to report the trip hazard to the appropriate authorities, such as the local municipality or transportation department. They can take the necessary steps to fix the issue and ensure the safety of pedestrians.
Remember, temporary solutions are meant to provide a temporary fix until the hazard can be properly repaired. It's always best to prioritize safety and report any hazards you come across.
Conclusion
Property owners and the NYC government both share responsibility for maintaining a sidewalk. By understanding who is responsible for sidewalk repair, you can save pedestrians from major accidents and injuries.

Who's on Sidewalk Duty? Understanding Sidewalk Repair Responsibility in NYC
Tripped on a cracked sidewalk in the Big Apple? Don't just brush yourself off! Knowing who's responsible for sidewalk repair in NYC can save you time, money, and maybe even a lawsuit.
The Sidewalk Shuffle: Property Owner vs. City
In New York City, the responsibility for sidewalk repair primarily falls on the shoulders of property owners. This applies to most buildings, excluding one, two, or three-family residences that are owner-occupied and used solely for residential purposes (https://portal.311.nyc.gov/article/?kanumber=KA-01506).
For everyone else, the onus is on you to keep your adjacent sidewalks in a safe condition. This includes:
Repairing cracks, holes, and uneven surfaces.
Removing trip hazards like loose bricks or tree root displacement.
Maintaining proper drainage to prevent pooling water.
The City Steps In: Exceptions to the Rule
There are a few situations where the city takes the sidewalk repair reins:
One, Two, Three-Family Dwellings: As mentioned earlier, owner-occupied single-family homes are the city's responsibility.
City-Owned Property: Sidewalks bordering public parks, government buildings, or other city-owned property are maintained by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
The Price of Neglect: Violations and Liability
If you neglect your sidewalk repair duties, you could face a visit from the Department of Buildings (DOB). A Notice of Violation (NOV) can land on your doorstep, carrying potential fines and penalties.
But the financial woes don't stop there. Property owners can be held liable for injuries sustained due to sidewalk defects on their property. A lawsuit from a pedestrian who trips and falls could cost you significantly more than a simple repair.
Taking Action: Resources for NYC Sidewalk Repair
Not sure how to tackle that sidewalk crack? Here are some resources to help:
NYC Department of Transportation (DOT): The DOT website provides a wealth of information on sidewalk repair regulations and even offers a guide to common sidewalk defects http://nyc.gov/sidewalks.
NYC 311: This citizen service line allows you to report sidewalk defects or inquire about repair permits https://portal.311.nyc.gov/article/?kanumber=KA-01506.
Licensed Sidewalk Contractors: Always hire a licensed and insured professional for repairs that go beyond minor crack filling.
Optimizing this article for search engines (SEO):
Title: This title uses the exact keyword "who is responsible for sidewalk repair nyc" and incorporates a question to pique reader interest.
Headings: Subheadings break up the text and include relevant keywords like "Property Owner vs. City" and "The Price of Neglect."
Meta Description: (Not included here, but important for SEO) Include a brief summary mentioning "sidewalk repair responsibility NYC" and target audience (e.g., NYC property owners).
Content: The content directly addresses the search query, uses relevant keywords naturally, and provides valuable information for NYC property owners.
By following these tips, this article should rank well for searches related to "who is responsible for sidewalk repair nyc" and provide informative content for your target audience.pen_sparktunesharemore_vert

32 Tips For Finding Pressure Washing Companies Near Me
Professional pressure washing services provide an effective way to renew surfaces like driveways, patios, and sidewalks that can become discolored by oil spots, mildew, and mold. Having a clean home can also boost its curb appeal and improve its resale value, making it an investment that pays off in the long run.
Whether you are looking to hire a professional to pressure wash your house or would like to start your own business, there are several ways to find new customers and grow your pressure washing companies near me. Read on to discover 32 tips for finding commercial contracts, landing residential jobs, and growing your small business.
The cost of pressure washing a home depends on the size of the area to be cleaned, the amount of dirt and debris that needs to be removed, and the extent of the work required to accomplish the cleaning. Some companies quote their pricing based on the square footage of the home or structure, while others use a flat rate for all residential jobs regardless of size or complexity. In either case, a thorough job should take an average of four hours per 1,500-square-foot home.
Power washing is an excellent solution to a dirty house, but it’s important to hire a qualified and experienced contractor to avoid damage. Professionals know how to properly adjust the power settings of their washers to avoid etching or harming delicate surfaces, such as cedar, or causing water damage around windows. They also know what types of detergents, water pressure, and nozzles will work best for each surface type and condition.
If you have a large exterior space that needs to be cleaned, you may want to hire a professional team that offers multiple services in addition to pressure washing, such as painting or staining. These additional services can save you time and money by allowing you to get everything done at once instead of scheduling multiple appointments.
Many people choose to have their homes pressure washed in the spring, but there is no one-size-fits-all answer for when to have a home cleaned. Pressure washing can benefit your property year-round, especially if you have oil spots from leaky vehicles or a roof with moss and mildew growth.
It’s also an excellent idea to have your home pressure washed before you put it on the market or schedule a pre-purchase inspection, as this can help increase its resale value. In addition, a home that is regularly pressure washed can prevent its paint from flaking and peeling, ensuring it retains its beauty for longer. To learn more about the benefits of having your home professionally pressure washed, contact us at Mike’s Power Washing. We are a family-owned and operated NYC, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and The Bronx pressure washing company that is fully licensed, insured, and bonded to ensure your peace of mind. NYC Sidewalk Repair Contractor Services: Ensuring Safety and Aesthetics in the City
New York City is known for its bustling sidewalks, a testament to the city's vibrant life and appeal. However, these sidewalks can suffer from regular wear and tear over time due to heavy pedestrian traffic, extreme weather conditions, and natural aging of the materials. To ensure public safety and the aesthetic charm of these critical pathways, professional services from an experienced NYC Sidewalk Repair Contractor is an essential consideration for property owners.
The Need for Experienced NYC Sidewalk Repair Contractors
When it comes to sidewalks, damage can range from minor cracks to significant gaps or holes, which can pose potential hazards for pedestrians. Beautiful and well-maintained sidewalks not only enhance the appeal of a property but also contribute to the cityscape's overall aesthetic beauty.
An experienced NYC Sidewalk Repair Contractor is equipped to handle various types of sidewalk damages. These professionals bring with them the know-how and the necessary tools to address common repair issues like concrete repair, paver installations, and replacements.
Factors to Consider When Choosing an NYC Sidewalk Repair Contractor
Choosing the right sidewalk repair contractor is critical. Here are some crucial factors to consider:
Experience: The contractor should have substantial experience in sidewalk repair and maintenance. With experience comes wisdom, and an experienced contractor can effectively address the unique challenges each sidewalk repair presents.
Reputation: Check out the contractor’s reputation. Look for online reviews and testimonials from their previous clients. A highly-rated, well-reviewed contractor is likely to deliver quality results.
Licenses and Certifications: Ensure that your chosen contractor holds the necessary licenses, certifications, and insurance to perform the job safely and legally.
Price: Get a quote for the repair work before making a decision. While you shouldn’t necessarily opt for the cheapest contractor, you also don’t want to overpay. Make sure their cost estimates are reasonable and competitive.
The Services Offered by NYC Sidewalk Repair Contractors
NYC Sidewalk Repair Contractors offer various services to keep the city's sidewalks safe, functional, and attractive. Here is a glimpse of what they offer:
1: Concrete Repair
Cracks and holes in the concrete are not only unsightly but can also cause accidents. Contractors offer expert concrete repair services to restore the sidewalk to its best condition.
2: Paver Installation
For sidewalks with pavers, these contractors can install new pavers or replace damaged ones, ensuring that the sidewalk remains level and safe for pedestrians.
Regular Maintenance
Regular maintenance is key to the longevity of sidewalks. From routine inspections to addressing minor repairs before they escalate, sidewalk repair contractors can provide regular maintenance services.
 ADA-Compliant Ramp Installation
Ensuring accessibility for all is a priority. Sidewalk repair contractors can install ADA-compliant ramps, making the sidewalk accessible to people with disabilities.
The Value of Quality NYC Sidewalk Repair Contractors
Good-quality NYC Sidewalk Repair Contractors don't just fix sidewalks; they play a significant role in maintaining the city's safety and scenic appeal. So, whether you're a property manager, a small business owner, or a homeowner, doing your part in selecting the right contractor can make a real difference. After all, well-maintained sidewalks contribute to the vibrant life that NYC is so well-known for.

This packet contains native wildflower seeds, suitable for New York City and the surrounding area. Sprinkle them in places you think could use more beauty - even a crack in the sidewalk will do. "Sunflowers and other weedy wildflowers colonize the wastelands and forgotten corners of the city and provide, at no cost, many of the same services that the cultivated plant communities do. In urban wastelands, they decorate what would otherwise be a desolate environment. But most city dwellers are blinded to their beauty by a more domesticated aesthetic. An unappreciated and neglected resource, their energy goes unharnessed." - Anne Whiston Spirn, The Granite Garden, 1984

Cement Contractors Near Me
Tumblr media
If you’re looking for a concrete contractor, get at least three in-person estimates. Pick contractors that have extensive experience, relevant concrete industry certifications and glowing client testimonials.
Residential concrete companies install and repair driveways, sidewalks, patios, porches and garage floors. They can also make decorative concrete. These companies can add tinted coloring, stamped patterns and unique designs to ordinary concrete.
Residential Concrete Companies
Residential concrete companies install new and repair old concrete in residential spaces. They can make concrete onsite using a bagged cement mix for smaller-scale projects, such as landings and walkways, or pour concrete from a truck for larger-scale jobs like foundations and slabs. They also have the expertise to choose the right concrete mix, to set up formwork and to follow proper curing methods.
Some concrete contractors offer decorative concrete services as well. They can stain concrete in earth tones or in vibrant colors, which can give your home a more unique look. These concrete contractors can also polish your existing concrete floors, install countertops in a kitchen or bathroom remodel and create backyard retaining walls and patios.
Find the best concrete company for your project by reviewing images of their work and asking questions. You should also verify that the company has the necessary insurance, licensing and certifications for your job. You can learn more about finding a qualified contractor on the BBB’s website.
Commercial Concrete Companies
Concrete contractors typically work on larger projects, including commercial and industrial buildings. They may also be involved in the construction and repair of concrete sidewalks, driveways, and road surfaces. A contractor may stay on a project through its entirety or subcontract a portion of the work to another party.
Many companies specialize in a specific type of concrete construction. For example, Suntec Concrete is one of the largest commercial concrete contractors, with a significant presence across the Southwest United States and offices in Arizona, Colorado, Utah, and Texas. They describe themselves as a “full-service concrete construction company” that offers services such as preconstruction, concrete placement, pumping, foundation work, and facilities service.
A concrete contractor can also help rehabilitate existing concrete structures. A damaged section of concrete may need to be repaired using a process called concrete leveling, which involves drilling small holes into the top layer of the concrete and then injecting concrete to raise or lower it as needed.
Decorative Concrete Companies
Concrete is a very durable and economical material for floors, walls, patios & driveways. It can be formed into a wide variety of patterns and textures for aesthetic appeal or functional use. The surface can be stamped, etched, carved, grooved, drilled, scored, sandblasted or colored.
Residential concrete fabrication requires a lot of knowledge and experience. Knowing the right proportions of Portland cement, sand or aggregate and water for the specific project helps achieve a quality mix that is strong enough to handle the loads, allows for proper curing and drying without cracking and looks great when finished.
Decorative Concrete in Nyc provides cost effective alternatives to materials like wood, slate, granite, tile and marble. It is also much more durable against freezing and thawing, sand and salt damage, and is easier to maintain than many other types of flooring. Innovative options provide the design flexibility needed to satisfy performance goals while achieving your creative vision.
Concrete Repair Companies
Concrete is very durable, but it can crack, crumble or sink over time. Whether it’s caused by weather or poor construction, these problems need to be repaired quickly to keep the structure safe and prevent further damage.
There are many ways to repair concrete, and the best method depends on the severity of the cracks. For shallow, cosmetic cracks, a contractor can use filler or a skim coat to restore the concrete’s surface. This is usually a quicker and less expensive option than replacing the entire section of concrete.
A good concrete contractor will carefully evaluate the problem and choose a repair material that is right for the situation. Bagged concrete mix manufacturers like QUIKRETE offer repair products that are labeled for specific situations and designed with safety regulations in mind. Some products also include fibers or admixtures to improve strength and durability. These materials can help prevent chloride attack on the existing concrete and help the repair last longer.
