Day 2: #mayvinylchallenge :  Box Set/Multiple Record/2LP Today we get fresh and get innocuous with LCD Soundsystem's "The Long Goodbye: LCD Soundsystem Live at Madison Square Garden" From the mid-2000's until 2010, LCD Soundsystem (@lcdsoundsystem) crafted some of the most memorable alternative dance music of the era, in my humbly arrogant opinion.  So when they decided to call it quits, going out in style seemed apropos.  Documenting their THEN final show at Madison Square Garden on April 2, 2011, it is a 3-hour, 5-disc experience of a phenomenal performance.  As an attendee of the Orlando show they did, it was one of the best concerts I've ever witnessed. Bought on Record Store Day in 2014, it was the first thing I grabbed in the store, thus grabbing more things and eventually leaving the store in a state of shock over my end price.  It's a habit. And I finally got to wear this jacket.  Ain't I cute?  Don't answer that question. Day 26: #mayvinylchallenge :  Bought Without Hearing or for Art This is another bender, as I bought it without technically hearing it...and then for it's art as a happy afterthought. The album in question is the 3rd LP from The Juan Maclean, "In a Dream" (2014). With their first full-length album after the untimely passing of drummer Jerry Fuchs in 2009, the Juan Maclean (John Maclean and Nancy Whang) ventured forward with their unique dance-pop sound.  With songs like "A Place Called Space", "You Were a Runaway" and "A Simple Design", the album is filled with funky synth heavy pop structuralism.  Here's the story... I was at @parkavecds in on a rando-search, when I hear the first 10 notes of the song "Running Back to You" blast over the PA.  I immediately run up to the cashier and say, "Heyyy ummm...WHO THE HELL IS THIS!?!?"  He replies, "Oh, The Juan Maclean."  Already being a Juan fan, I blurt out "Lead me to it!!!" Upon seeing it, I knew I was going to buy it regardless of how it sounded: a stunning black and white shot of the ever-beautiful Nancy Whang, posing with a shiny black head sculpture of John.  Too cool!  Once I got it home and opened it up, I was further delighted at the inner gatefold photo, which the naked body of Nancy, holding a white head sculpture of John.  Being that I've been Nancy-crusher since 2007...YESLAWD is the only Modus Operandi.  But the coolest visual on Nancy?   Her MIDI input wrist tattoos.  Aside from the Black Flag bars, it is the only other tat I've considered. Oh...sorry...moving on...
