IA y el arte

Introducción

En la sección del libro ‘El próximo paso: la vida exponencial’, se investigó acerca de cómo influye la tecnología en procesos creativos junto con la opinión acerca de las IA, para poder entender como la programación está evolucionando para replicar las habilidades creativas, y por qué es tan controversial.

En este libro se investigó acerca de las diferentes ramas del arte, como ejemplo ponen a la creatividad computacional en música, en la interpretación de la música y las artes visuales. El autor de esta sección del libro es Ramón López de Mántaras, quien investigó acerca de los muchos logros de la humanidad con ayuda de la tecnología en ámbitos artísticos para realizar un análisis a profundidad acerca de cuál es la opinión más acertada en cuanto a la inteligencia artificial. Esta sección fue publicada en 2017, en el sitio web oficial de BBVA. Es el noveno título de la colección anual del BBVA OpenMind dedicada a la divulgación científica y tecnológica.

Resultados de la investigación

Encontré que la controversia de si las inteligencias artificiales son creativas o no, es más un problema moral que científico, ya que se trata de la perspectiva de cada uno. Que las IA pueden crear lo que definimos como arte, sin embargo, lo que mucha gente crítica y que hace que se descarten de ser obras creativas, es que no hay un proceso o intención detrás de los productos finales. No hay un sentimiento o emoción detrás del ritmo de una canción o de un cuadro generado artificialmente, cosa que si tiene cuando es hecho por un humano. La respuesta a la falta de estos sentimientos es que las IA carecen de consciencia. Las IA pueden 'crear' cosas porque cuentan con una base de imágenes, lo que hace la máquina es combinar esas imágenes para crear algo distinto.

Este es un ejemplo de lo que puede hacer una IA si se le proporciona una descripción para crear, pero como podrán notar, carece de sentido mientras más tiempo lo miras, o se pueden encontrar irregularidades. Esto se debe a que combina lo que tiene a su disposición y lo junta sin pasar por un proceso creativo a diferencia de un humano.

Discusión y conclusión

Podemos concluir que no hay un sentimiento o emoción detrás del ritmo de una canción o de un cuadro generado artificialmente, cosa que si tiene cuando es hecho por un humano. La respuesta a la falta de estos sentimientos es que las IA carecen de consciencia, y como bien dice el autor del libro, puede que en realidad nunca la tengan. Esto significa que tenemos grandes herramientas y creadores de arte, pero sin conciencia, lo cual para muchas personas hace que piensen que parecen creativas, pero no son creativas en verdad. Hemos visto este tipo de situaciones antes, como cuando un animal pinta un cuadro y es desacreditado de creatividad por no ser un creador con conciencia. Esto significa que, si una IA es creativa o inteligente, depende del punto de vista de cada persona.
