ive talked to some inukikers who stay in the shadows and they just think its pointless bc it's a constant war between the ships and of course inukag is much bigger, and they feel like its tiring and not worth it to go against the tide. especially now that rumiko decided to invent an afterthought daughter for inukag. some inukikers worked hard on fanfic only to get very few reviews and even a lot of negative ones from inukags. same with fanart. imagine working hard and getting few likes and hate

I'm in another fandom where it's like gintsu, a small group of friends, their fanarts/fanfics get a lot of hate, but they still do it because they love this ship and so do I. I love reading their stories, they are wonderful and fanarts. There are few of them, but we exist. InuKiks, if they continue to be in the shadow of the fandom, they will never be satisfied with their work. My stories that I wrote also met with low notes here, so what? I write because I love them, and also because I don't feel like writing at the moment, inuyasha,, well, it happens, writer's block. It's about pleasure. inukik fans will appreciate it and I'm 100% sure. When I came across inukik headcanon, my heart swelled with happiness, it was wonderful. Hate. That fandom also meets it, one of the girls and my friend have a lot of hate, but they MOVE on and make content. But apparently inukik fans would rather be defeated by a large fanbase than do whatever they want for their own ship, and if inukag send messages like this, can't they really shut them down? After all, they do it on purpose by using gasglit. This fandom will never EVER be more active because of behave like this. Inukik fans are simply gaslight by inukags. This isn't about war. There's no need to lead it, ignore these fucking son of bitches and and do your thing, and if one comes, you just need to extinguish it with arguments!!

This method was also used on me and I had to go through a lot of things, but I managed to be here with you and support you. I am very disappointed with the approach of inukik, with such an approach things never change. Oh well. It's sad.

My fiancé: "You know what would have been a good writing choice? Having Kikyo train Kagome. It would have been a great story opportunity to basically have them come to terms with each other. It'd be a way to resolve the whole InuKagKik thing, by having them understand each other better. I love how she doesn't really follow any usual female character archetypes in manga. The mysterious antihero with motives of their own who occasionally shows up, helps and/or hinders the heroes, and then disappears to go do their own thing is almost always a male character, so to see a woman in that role is super refreshing!

I love how she's allowed to be complex and morally grey. She has good intentions, but she doesn't always take the best route to get there (e.g. giving Naraku the jewel shards so that she can ultimately purify them and destroy him). Again, I feel like this is super rare in manga. Male characters get to have shades of grey, but female characters rarely do. Rumiko is great at writing nuanced women, and Kikyō is one of the best examples.

I love how strong she is! Both physically and mentally. A lone woman wandering around feudal Japan would surely be seen as easy pickings for any bandit or demon, but Kikyō just goes where she wants, when she wants, because she knows she can take anyone who tries her. And as for mental strength, how much has this woman suffered??? She alone was responsible for protecting basically the most powerful demonic item to ever exist from every single demon that wanted it; she got betrayed (or so she thought) by the only person she allowed herself to be vulnerable around; she was murdered; she was brought back to life against her will as a rage-filled zombie; she saw that her reincarnation had essentially taken her place; she learned the jewel she had died to keep away from demons was not only back, but shattered into a million pieces for any demon who wanted one to find and that the man who had orchestrated both her murder and the attempted murder of the one she loved was now one of the most powerful demons to ever exist and actively hunting for said jewel - and she's still a good person! She still wants to do her duty and protect people! Literally how??

And then, one of my favorite scenes:

I actually gasped out loud when I first read it, because usually Kikyō stays so collected, even when she's angry - I didn't expect to see her actually yank Tsubaki by the hair! How often do we get to see a female character being violently protective of the male hero? (I also want to hurt anyone who hurts Inuyasha, so I can relate.)

This last part is very esoteric, entirely my own headcanon, and I'm not an expert on the topic at all, so feel free to skip it! Basically, I've had this theory for a while, based on a Shintō philosophy called ichirei shikon (1 spirit, 4 souls). According to this belief, each living thing has not one, but four souls, which are the ara-mitama (wild soul; the angry, violent side), nigi-mitama (peaceful soul; the soul's normal state), saki-mitama (happy soul; the soul as a provider), and the kushi-mitama (miraculous soul; the healing side). (This theory actually got name-checked in an anime-only episode, and the Shikon Jewel seems like it may be referencing it, so idk, maybe it's legit??) I think maybe Kikyō was resurrected with only her ara-mitama, and Kagome has the other three souls. So for her to be resurrected with literally only the angry part of her soul and somehow manage to pacify her own soul and start doing good?? When will your fave???

Finally, she's absolutely gorgeous! She and Kagura are constantly battling it out for who's the prettiest character:

💘 Ship that is unpopular but you still like: InuKik. Now, I was one of those side-eyers back when I was a smol, child-shaped bean, because Sunrise just loved to ramp up the love triangle nonsense. But, I grew up and with that, I grew out of the unnecessary Kikyo hate-wagon. She did some weird shit in the beginning, but ultimately the girl just wanted to end Naraku once and for all, and rightfully so. There aren't a LOAD of InuKik's that I've read, but usually when I do find one, they are (for the most part) tastefully done. Most recently, a snippet of Transcending from @sassybratt9791 stopped me in my tracks and I'd highly recommend giving it a read!

Kikyou stared up at him, his piercing amber eyes studying her closely, waiting for an answer. She knew this moment would define the rest of her life. Brought up in a world of class and responsibility, she had never experienced the freedom his presence brought her. He became the unrestrained world awaiting her just outside of her castle walls. With him, she could be anyone she wanted to be, and the idea of anonymity exhilarated her.

"Yes, Inuyasha," she finally said in a breathy voice, her fingers curling around his. "I'll come with you."

My favorite idea of them is Kikyou being the girl being brought up by strict parents and having a lot of weight on her shoulders because of her family's name, and Inuyasha having nowhere to call home and simply drifts from place to place whenever he gets bored. He's the freedom she's always dreamed of, and he gives her the conviction to jump into it with open arms.

This trope can be used in Canon or AU. And then I always headcanon them raising their children in the countryside, with the rising and setting sun being their only keeper. Idk if that's exactly "fluffy" persay, but it's my favorite.

What are your InuYasha ships?

 Hi! Thanks for asking, zutararights ^^ Well, since the very beginning SessRin has been my absolute favorite ship in Inuyasha and, so far, my only straight OTP lol 

I like InuKag too ofc, as they are kind of a must for the manga and anime to exist and work, yet they don’t give me Feels like SessRin does. I just want them to remain happy after everything they went through, but I won’t dive into that ship. 

And after like... fifteen years??? I’ve found out I really REALLY enjoy NarKik; beforehand, I had just noticed their existence, sort of hooking singles™ up xD But somehow I began to see them with different eyes and... holy cow, such wasted potential! My headcanon for them is that their affaire would beging with Naraku forcing her but, after a while, she would realize she kind of getts off on being the object of someone else’s obssession, and then Kikyô would dom the hell of him lol

I’m fond of InuKik too, but I suppose it’s just my love for Kikyô who’s talking there; I mean, they do make a nice couple and I’d wish for anything that would make my girl happy, but I’m aware their love was doomed even before they had a chance at happiness. Besides, I think Kagome is a better match for Inuyasha than Kikyô (that’s not to say I see her as a toxic option though).

I would have loved seeing more SessKik interaction too, as they look to me as a more fabulous godlike InuKag xD That’s all, I’m really not adverse to any Inuship, save for SessKagu and SessKag, I just can’t see them together.

who’s the werewolf and who’s the hunter

Okay honestly for me there’s only one way to see it. I will confess I really have a thing for werewolves, but with Inuyasha’s transformations, I’d have a hard time not seeing it as one. It almost pains me to say that Kagome would be a hunter, but it does fit her characteristics in the manga and what we know about mikos’ roles. Plus honestly, Kagome accepting Inuyasha and possibly going against an organization she used to believe in because she realized what they’re doing is wrong? Good shit.

who’s the mermaid and who’s the fisherman

This was hard! While I do love the idea of Inuyasha as a mermaid (and more specifically of The Little Mermaid), I have a hard time seeing Kagome as a fisherman, so I’m afraid I’m going to have to go with the opposite. Plus Kagome having to go back to the sea and possibly getting stuck there for a while fits with the well!

who’s the witch and who’s the familiar

Hands down, Kagome’s the witch and Inuyasha’s the familiar. In fact, Inuyasha used to be Kikyo’s familiar, and he was thrown out for a supposed mistake, and you usually don’t take in someone else’s familiar, but Kagome just does, because of course she does.

who’s the barista and who’s the coffee addict

I’m going to go with Inuyasha as the grumpy barista and Kagome as the coffee addict with an exhausting job. And Inuyasha always secretely worries about her.

who’s the professor and who’s the TA

I have no idea. I have a hard time seeing them in that relationship I guess… I’m going to go with Inuyasha as the scary professor and Kagome as the super kind and approchable TA. I love the idea of Kagome as a teacher though, so I think Kagome as the professor, and Inuyasha as the somewhat bratty/scary but actually super knowledgeable and competent TA would be really nice as well!

who’s the knight and who’s the prince(ss)

I would die for a fic where Inuyasha is the prince and Kagome is the knight. That being said, I do think the opposite works better for their characters if we were to mimick the manga, but under specific circumstances. That is to say, Kagome wouldn’t be your typical princess, possibly wouldn’t have been raised in the castle, and Inuyasha wouldn’t be “her” knight, at least not at first — he was possibly assigned there after there was trouble/rumors around him and Kikyo (yes I like to recreate some Kikyo-Inuyasha-Kagome drama).

who’s the teacher and who’s the single parent

So I know I wrote a fic where Inuyasha’s the teacher and Kagome’s the single mom, but I actually think the opposite works somewhat better? I just, I really love Kagome as a teacher, and in the manga, Inuyasha had a very deep and important relationship before meeting her, so I think it works well to have him with some bagage already. Plus I have a hard-time imagining Inukik working long-term, so that just fits my headcanon better.

who’s the writer and who’s the editor

I actually really like Inuyasha in creative jobs, so I would go with him as the writer and Kagome as the desperate editor who needs to put up with him (he’s totally doing it on purpose because he knows that way she’ll have to come and see him). That being said, again, the opposite would work rather well. Kagome’s a famous writer, but when she suffers from writer’s block/bad critics, Inuyasha’s super supportive and he’s really there for her.

I wonder what you think about Kagome and Narauku, since she is the reincarnation of Kikyo. He certainly would be somewhat obsessed with her, but not to the same degree as Kikyo.

I don’t know remember how I feel about it because I’ve only watched Inuyasha when I was 10 years old. Reason why I came back for Narkik is that I’ve remember it was one of my first villain x heroine ships and the one kept most secret of, since I watched the show with my older brothers, and if I told them I liked Naraku/Kikyo they would be confused and grossed out. Those teens full of testosterone who watch anime bc of the fights… I also remember even then I thought the Show didn’t gave Narkik the importance they deserved (THE REASON BEHIND THE WHOLE STORYYY) and wanted to see more scenes between them.

So yeah, I thought I would recover my ship feels through Tumblr without having to re-watch 167 episodes of anime. First, because I almost don’t have free time nowadays; second, have acquired a prejudice over the years for certain aspects of Japanese culture present in the anime, such as unreal hair coloring, unnecessary shouting, mecha fights, magical girls and, overall, empty and confusing plots.

But my older brother may have me biting my tongue. He re-watched the Show (In my defense, he has all the time in the world) and, as I watched some episodes with him, I realized Inuyasha had a story behind all that sword fighting and Japanese mythology that is really confusing to a western. But hey, at least they followed traditional stories, so it’s like some sort of Japanese fairy-tale, something that sounds very different and interesting in terms of culture exchange.

I intend to re-watch this show someday, specially because I’ve realized the shipping is strong with it. Narakik, Inukag, Inukik… As a child, I hated Kikyo because she interfered with Inukag. By then I didn’t have my share of heartbreak and didn’t understand what is like to love someone so much you can’t entirely move on from them. I also preferred happy endings; wasn’t such a tragedy shipper like I’m today. Nowadays, I ship all members of the square of inevitable pain and unsolved matters.

Which brings me to your question if I shipped Naraku/Kagome. Like I’ve said, I barely remember Inuyasha, not even Narkik scenes. Tumblr is helping me on this and into deepening my perception of Narkik. For instance, with @narkik​ headcanons, I’ve remember Naraku’s body starts to all apart when he removes his human heart, because it contained Onigumo’s love for Kikyo, and also how this was just as part of Onigumo as it was a part of Naraku himself and the only thing left of his identity. Yeah, I know. How can someone not ship it, right?

So I don’t know how I feel about Narkag, but if I must take a guess, I would say probably the same way I feel about Petyr/Sansa/Catelyn.

Petyr x Catelyn is about how much the heroine emotionally destroys the villain. I like to watch his angst.

Petyr x Sansa is about watching a innocent and essentially good girl being “harassed” by the villain. It’s about being hot, not about something deep, something that touches the soul.
