On the way to work one day, I was thinking about what would happen if Kuro never became a vampire. Turns out they'd become a politician LOL.

Okay. OKAY. SO. Kuro was born in the 1590s, and well, WELL, there's not a lot in English about the 1500s and 1600s in Japan when it comes to things like, say, FASHION. Doesn't help that Kuro grew up in Hirado and I only have a few books and articles about that time period there in English. It's very frustrating. I also only have a couple books about fashion, but they're all in Japanese and my reading is at super beginner level and what I'm sayin in, if ya'll got any books to recommend, PLEASE do because asdkjhasjkldh. Thankfully I'll be going over to Japan for the first time later this year and I got all these museums and places to hit up for research cuz that's just who I be I suppose. I am determined to find more books and material to bring back. I want to understand this stuff better, even if like 90% of it never sees the light of day.

Oh, also like HEH. Kuro and their wife, Momoko. First set is their public appearance and second is private attire. Let me just paste this here:

In 1609 (or was it 1606?), Kuromitsu left both their home and betrothed, Momoko, to study medicine around the world at the age of 16. The trip was planned to last about 10 years. Upon return, Kuro and Momoko would wed. During his travels, she came across stories of immortal monsters, and thinking how such a thing would impress nobility, followed the leads to Vlad. This is how, at the age of 19, Kuro became a vampire and everything went to shit. That being said, I thought, what if Kuro never met Vlad? Well, the result is that they���d arrive home safe and sound, wed Momoko, and work their way into the Courts. In public, he and Momoko would play their expected gender roles, but at home in private, they could both present how they want. That’s the source of these two drawings!

Also Kuro, even when human, is still fond of hanging all over those she loves who are taller than him. Cat behavior perhaps? I think so.

i think i should post about something nice that happened when it leaves me with a good feeling, reading @1000-directions steph's good things makes me feel really happy and maybe talking about mine will also help. i had a lady come into the library who is staying at the temple connected to our campus for a writer's retreat, she wanted to know if we had any books about a specific Chinese goddess because she saw a statue at the temple but the plaque didn't have much info. she patiently started reading through some books she wanted to borrow while i searched for anything that might answer her question. i had a suspicion that there were different versions of this goddess's name. Buddhist figures often have multiple spellings of their name, or even multiple names (each with different spellings), because each variation belongs to a different Buddhist traditions from different countries/areas, and I tracked down a book that looked like it would give her exactly what she was looking for. she was really excited with the book i found her, and she told me about how she's been treating the week like a mini holiday, anytime the weather is nice she goes down to read by the lotus pond. (i used to have my lunch by the pond back before we were in our current building, when we were operating out of the temple, but i haven't in years, i should when i have afternoons with no students around.) anyway she was so nice to chat with, hopefully she gets to learn all the things she wanted to know about that goddess

in my fic i've officially decided to make wyatt the campground host and i just. can't stop thinking abt it. he'd be so eager and enthusiastic!! it's the perfect job for him. he'd wear his park ranger uniform shirt everywhere, unbuttoned or layered over hoodies and under sweaters. his favorite part of the job would be getting kids involved with nature, seeing the wonder in their eyes as they explore the forest and observe the wildlife. at the same time, though, he'd work to protect his pack's territory, keep campers away from the borders. ensure everything sacred is kept safe.

I am predictable so ofc I'm here to ask what is HakuRin's relationship like in Dread au, how did they fall in love and how does Rin take the reveal of Hakuno's true identity?

HakuRin here is very interesting since Haku has to juggle two different personas around Rin at all times. The Shirano persona is more akin to how you would write Haku in the Matou AU so far but Dreadkuno proper with Rin is two tsunderes trying to be in love and failing miserably.

As for how they fell in love, that whole tale is Hakuno trying to lay low in Fuyuki and meeting Rin in middle school, getting attached and cursing herself out for it. I think Rin's attitude towards "Shirano" would be def somebody she'd grow to care for and protect especially with how the world is in the Extraverse.

The Morgause reveal though would crank up the angst tenfold as Rin realizes the soft spoken girl she has grown to love over the past few years is the cold-hearted witch that's become a menace in the grail war, Morgause the Defier, the mage assassin active years ago. Big inspiration comes from the Zero reveal in Code Geass. Because of Haku's amnesia syndrome, her facade would eventually start to slip and she'd get sloppy hiding things so Rin would start to put things together. Once, it's confirmed a fight would prob break out with Rin in a blind rage and Haku trying her hardest not to hurt her, something like Shirou's fight with Rin at the school in UBW. Eventually though I think Haku would have to come clean about her condition and Rin would be moreso angry that she's been hiding her disease for so long.
